>Popular myth states that the Orkish printing press was developed by a mad Mek trying to produce a mega-gatler that ran on paper and used ink as a coolant. Indeed, many are primarily employed in this manner, but occasionally enterprising grots are known to borrow them to try and make a few teef on the side.

The better question is why did all the FAQs basically amount of typo corrections when there was apparently so much "playtesting" done by the tourney crowd?

I want a plane to give my Admech some glorious medium fire support.

I had the idea of using greenstuff, the Sector Mechanicus parts and a whole bunch of misc. spares to make a Marauder Destroyer counts-as based on the Guns of Icarus Mobula, with all the turrets and such and probably a couple weapon servitors.

Thoughts and/or ideas? I'm new to kitbashing on this scale, honestly.

My thoughts for this list were simple, I would like some feedback/suggestions.

>Grand Master Voldus
Time to dominate the Psychic phase and reroll those hits.

>Interceptor Squad
Their one off teleport to get where I need to be and to distract people from the real threat.

>Venerable Dreadnought
Mobile weapons platform that when parked next to my Grand Master Voldus dish out some serious firepower. They also become Psykers for even more fun.

>Paladin Squad
The big boys waiting in the chamber to slam down on the right target.

The best question is why idiots think just because 8E isn't 100% flawless that there was no playtesting or less playtesting done than the other editions, when we've seen copious amounts of evidence that the game actually WAS playtested, and extensively, going so far as to bring in unpaid third party playtesters, compared to previous editions which weren't even playtested at all besides some faggot at GW smashing 5 Riptides against 6 Carnifexes.

That still doesn't explain the amount of third grade typos on a supposedly luxury product.
>>
>>54286141

They're not even tactical, they're doing it because they're too ghetto to have drum mags. They also have a phobos bolter that is literally so broken they had to take a block of wood and tie it to the bolter casing because they couldn't repair the actual grip.
>>
>>54286207
All printed products are luxury products. You don't need books to survive.

And no, the FAQs aren't "all typo fixes" you hyperbolic faglord, there's stupid ass FAQs for morons like you, like "does within 1" count 1" too?" "yes."
>>
>>54286012
I don't actually believe that any of the tourneyfags that claim they were deeply involved in the design process of 8th edition actually did anything at all.

I think the extent of their "playtesting" was them getting to play early versions of the dark imperium boxed set with exactly the rules and units provided in that box and nothing else.
>>
>>54286237
Probably because you don't know shit. They even said they brought up "less models always go first" and "flamers can hit flyers" to the GW devs and GW just ignored them. People still treat niggers like shit, I guess according to your logic the civil rights movement never happened then?
>>
>>54286207
Proofreading =/= playtesting.

Also, you aren't forced to do anything with the feedback you get from playtesters. It is usually a good idea to take it into consideration yes, but you should never follow it to the letter.

I need some criticism on my tau sept, the kai'jun.
It's a world on the north of the Empire, planet is one mega continent and a world ocean with most of the landmass being desert. A big chunk is swamp though.
Think of it kind of like late permian earth.
It has a sizeable human population and it has a standing garrison to protect the mines that excavate the materials needed to make those lovely batttlesuits.
Most reliable crop is ork, their population is kept in special pens and harvested before they can amass the numbers needed to start making trouble.
Colors are bright red shining lenses and metallic green armor, everyone in the planet is united in their love of booze.
>>
>>54286207

GW is generally super restrictive about information and really strict with things like NDAs. So they probably gave out very limited playtesting materials and forced everyone involved to never say anything about what was involved in the playtest.

And of course every random blogging shit stain is going to massively overstate their involvement and they can do that because everyone is prohibited from disproving them because NDA.

F- Apply yourself.

Seriously, think about that for a second. At the time when you need to test something the finished version inherently cannot exist yet, if the datasheets were copy pasted from anywhere it would have been some rough, plain text working document. In all likelihood the typographical errors were introduced during data entry between the plain text version of the indexes and the final version intended for print.

I'm all for criticism of how GW produced this shit, but if you actually think like this you're a fucking dipshit. Maybe take a course on project management or something.

That's a stoopid idea, and not even tau are silly enough to leave orks alive on their planet when they don't have to. They've leaned that lesson the hard way.

Seriously, they can import crops or livestock that'll be FAR easier to handle than orks. Remember, a lot of the core tau septs (including the planet t'au itself) are desert worlds, they're good at creating enough food to eat in this sort of environment.

I like the buff for some armies like Orks, Nids, Dark Eldar. I think they deserved it.

I like that they nerved some armies.

I don't like what they did to some armies playstyle wise. But I guess it is really hard to balance all armies and still keep them fluffy or make every unit of each codex worth it's costs.

>>
>>54286771
Yes, just like the Index books. Which was my point. They are precisely as made-to-be-replaced as the Warscroll Compendiums are, but they were free.

Also, unlike the Index books, you are allowed to take a legacy warscroll instead of the updated version, it's just that most of the updated scrolls happen to be better (but only most of them, the old Ghoul King scroll is far better than the new one for example).

You really shouldn't be giving GW that much credit. Regardless I stated the rules were copy-pasted, not from where. Typos on the work in progress rules, which end up being the final rules, were never noticed.
See the FAQ change to Celestine if you need proof.

>>54286676
I actually have handled three different playtest materials for other games produced by public companies. Not everyone does it the same way, but it's always done the easiest way, copy paste, when possible.

It's far easier to check for errors during the "plain text version" you claim existed. That's when proofreading is done. After the product is finalized, it may get another pass, but tends not to.

And I'm not giving shit on typos like "where" and "were", I'm talking about core fucking rules not hidden in blocks of text.

Girlyman was wounded and put in stasis in 121.M31. Grey Knight emerged during the secound founding (7 years after the Horus Heresy, so 021.M31).

So you're telling me that for 100 years, Guilliman, Lord Commander of the Imperium, was not aware of a Marine chapter that came out of nowhere, was oddly placed on the roster of the 2nd founding he himself devised, and were based on a moon in the Sol system, a moon that had been hidden for some time?

Nobody thought to tell him that the moon we thought lost during the Heresy is back now and there's a marine chapter not of any of the loyalist legions that's placed beyond the chapters we've made from the loyalist legions?

My personal favorite example of 8e simplification is how they changed fliers.

Flyers in 7e were dangerous, perhaps too good in casual play but they weren't popular for tournaments, since objective capping was so important, and their reserves/fire angles/etc were limiting as fuck.

In 8e, hoo boy. Let's ignore the flamer meme, and look at how Airborne flyers work. The enemy is at -1 to hit them, but they have full 360* movement. However, they exist in two points in space at once:
-Enemies cannot move within 1" of them without assaulting them.
-Enemies without fly cannot assault them

Airborne flyers are basically a mobile forcefield if you don't fly.

On the other hand, if you run a horde and space out so the flyers have nowhere to end their move, they *die* outright.

>mfw infantry telefrag flyers and flyers are mobile forcefields.

It would have near-fearless (or fearless) conscripts, with the ability to double-stack shooting/Dakka, obsec, or the option to run. FNP meant shit w/ T3, because S6 intensifies.

The Screamerstar is difficult to destroy, but its damage output is relatively minor. The real danger with it was mandatory pile-in, combined with being able to shoot earthshakers/quad mortars into melee.

The Rapiers are amazing though. Not just TL, but AP 1 and Ordnance. They're more like discount Railguns.

I was thinking, once IA14 comes out, of getting a Warhound and using the Myrmidon models to make an Old Skitarii list - hulking tribal warriors who are extremely durable and fierce, with heavy artillery in the form of Onagers. Maybe that would pack some more punch.

When you say nerf, go on. The main diffs between ITC vs Nova were: Nova restricted you to one FW item, and ITC used modded Invisibility and D. The only thing I could really think of is ITC flamers only hitting one floor of Ruins.

Of course, the D-knight wasn't anywhere as popular as the Skatach, simply because Eldar didn't have innate Ignore Cover otherwise, and Ravenwing armies were also fairly popular (even though they didn't make the top tables unless part of a Space Wolf mashup).

>At the end of any Movement Phase, the closest unit within 5" of this model suffer D3 S4 hits

>>54287096
At the start of every movement phase, both players roll off. The one who rolls highest may move the Canak Floater D6". If the Canak Floater ends its move within 2" of any model, it explodes. Any unit within 6" of it suffers D3 Mortal Wounds. After it explodes, remove the Canak Floater from the game.

>>54287122
Like Citadel Woods.

>>54287139

>>54287156

>>54287174
Pretty much a copy-paste of those rules, they still work.

>>54287187

>>54287202
At the end of any movement phase, the player whose turn it is must roll 2D6. The closest unit within this range must immediately make a Battleshock test.

Conscripts in 7th would have required a 130 point Platoon tax in form of a command squad and 2 infantry squads, and even further points in form of a commissar. Not worth it for shit flashlights. Not all shooting was scatbikes, either. Zombies were also obsec.

Rapiers are actually only ap2, because there's a difference between Laser Destroyers and Laser Destroyer Arrays, but because FW are idiots this difference wasn't made until Siege of Vraks (IA:13 only lists the ap1 variant)

IG also paid 20 points more each earthshaker, and as you point out, can't shoot them into combat.

So no, it could not have been done better by loyalist guard, there's a reason for why Renegades were top-tier and IG were absolute bottom-tier in 7th.

Also no, that is just a bastardization of earlier editions. Did you not just roll to run in 5th instead of doing it in the shoot phase like you were supposed to?
Charging is also the same as earlier editions of 40k, but you declare the charges like it were Fantasy instead.

Your drybrushing is very conservative, so it doesn't accomplish a lot. Washes or inks will add depth by darkening recesses. Or you could do a somewhat heavier drybrush followed by a more controlled edge highlight. Pick out some if the icky goo parts with a brighter green or even some other colors entirely.

Learn by doing. I always got more out of just diving in than reading/watching tutorials.
>>
>>54287911
The edges of the green, The beige gives a very nice effect that highlights the edges and it doesn't look out of place.

The point of Mortals is to make sure there can never be some kind of retarded Smashfucker supercharacter, hence the access to them allowing Electro-Priests to beat Guilliman to death through his 3++ and such. I do think that tacking them onto every single minor interaction was a bit much, since even to simplify things it tends to make explosions and such a bit binary, but they're a good idea in theory.

I'm neutral on 8e vs. 7e, 7e was obviously unbalanced as hell, but I detest the spammy meta, sponginess of every model thanks to health bars and overall lack of depth from 8, turning most weapons into a flat DPT value and removing stuff like blasts and scatter and facings that made it a bit more risky and added more depth than "point weapons at optimal target and hope". Yeah, blasts were irritating en masse, but those could easily be turned into D3 shots while leaving the rest alone, and there was nothing wrong with Flamer templates. Maybe tack a Min Hits/ value on some templates to allow them to not whiff as much against single models, but they work as a mechanic.

8e could be made great, though. Time will tell, until then I have HH Mechanicum to work on anyway.

"in theory". So far it seems mostly fine, they aren't stacking huge buffs to the Feel No Pain, but we'll have to see how it goes. Since you can write rules around any system limitation like that it's not exactly unique to have power creep like that. Look at Magic Resistance in DnD.

>>54288188

Well, it seems like that's the intention, anyway. I have NO idea if they'll be sticking to it given their track record with "more people need to be affected by Morale" and such.

The removal of USRs was a stupid-ass decision, it would have made simplifying all these different rules and the FAQing of such considerably easier. As is, it's more likely that some kind of unintended RAW interaction will slip through with each new iteration of the same rules.

Truth be told, a simple "An Invulnerable Save may not be *improved* to better than 3++" clause would have gone a long way towards making 7e better, as there's a dramatic difference between rerolling 2+ and rerolling 3+ (as anyone that ever faced Fatecrusher in 5e would know).

What is more hilarious is how it's best for Terminators to hide in cover, while hordes might as well run in the open, since most save-mod weapons will ignore their armor anyway.
>>
>>54288350

The captain has two gun options

GW needs to make better HQ kits 99% of the load outs don't even have models
>>
>>54288350
My mind farted writing that.

Why do new Primaris kit that are not in the starters, lacking options?
>>
>>54288287
6 Wounds to kill him, so
9 Disgustingly Resilient rolls so
54 saves so
162 to wound so
324 to hit

324 Lasgun shots to kill 1 Lord of Contagion. If you actually fell for Conscript memery, it'd be 486. Yeah, that's real efficient.
>>
>>54288411
It's cause they're HQs. GW hasn't given HQ options since the old marine commander

You guys realize this is just the rules for the getting started guys right? The Plague Marine ones just came out so expect a bunch of "Oh no, Plague Marines got nerfed to no weapon upgrades and are only 3 man units!"
>>
>>54288402
>What is more hilarious is how it's best for Terminators to hide in cover, while hordes might as well run in the open, since most save-mod weapons will ignore their armor anyway.
This is the main annoying thing about this armor save systems. Terminator armor is made to be used without cover, it makes no sense. Most of the times, instead, it becomes a 4+ or 5+ like every other dude which costs 8 times less
>>
>>54288435
Most playtested edition ever?!
>>
>>54288350
To be honest, compared to most clampack Characters, the amount of options in those kits is staggering (which admittedly is not saying much). For example, the shoulder pads are separate parts, so you can glue some special pauldrons on. and the Captain has some actual options.
>>
>>54288435

I'm honestly expecting assault marine style options with pistols and 1 per 3 power weapons.

Reivers are currently actually not shit considering they're flat out better assault marines for 5 points more per pop, they just lack a transport at the moment or if they actually get infiltrate.

Being elite is kinda gay though.
>>

>You guys realize this is just the rules for the getting started guys right
Um, that's what I said, mate.

>You guys realize this is just the rules for the getting started guys right
With them it wouldn't hurt too much though, because the Blight Launcher is far and away the best special weapon they can choose.
>>
Ok in Battlescribe how do I make an army just with the Imperium keyword?
>>
>>54288504
You don't
>>
>>54288497
Going off the artwork of them they'll have some sort of bolter option.

>>54288500
I was just linking to anyone who commented.
>>
>>54288212
Playtesting has nothing to do with this kind of error. At a guess I'd say they're doing manual data entry from a reference document every time a datasheet is made and then not proofreading thoroughly.

I figure the rules team may have to hand off their final drafts to a seperate publishing team to produce final datasheets and then an intern re-types the entire contents and constructs the finished datasheet.
>>
>>54288504
You can't. Use a pen and paper.

>Being elite is kinda gay though.
Why? In a Battalion detachment you have 6 fucking Elite slots, so it's not as though Elite is a crowded slot anymore.

>>
>>54288539
Will they even fit? Aren't upgrade packs for marinelets?
>>
>>54288466
Beside the shoulders it has like the same amount of options as an old metal Canoness model if my memory is not tricking me.
>>
Posted on the FW facebook page asking about a Xenos FAQ ETA
They said "Very soon indeed watch this space"
So nothing is up today. Probably within a few days
>>
>>54288560
Shoulder pads and heads fit. Hands look a bit too small. Chest pieces are right out.
>>
>>54288560
Shoulders are slightly smaller due to not being double stacked but the arm socket will still take old single stack marinelet shoulders according to GW. Just gotta wait for non-HQ chads that have separate shoulders
>>
>>54288497

Actually the better comparison is that they're no-jump-pack vanguard veterans that pay 2 points for another wound, better bolt pistols, -1 to enemy Ld and shock grenades.

Once they get real wargear and transport options they'll be pretty legit.

>>54288539

Tell me about it, I have a bunch of deathwatch shoulders that I'm using as Red Hunter pauldrons (paint them gold, make the little skull bone color and free hand a little inquisition I and voila) but I've only been able to put them on my captain and librarian.

>>54288556

Because if they were troops I wouldn't have to take intercessors.

>>54288560

shoulders and helmets fit chads fine.
>>
>>54288497
Their rules are pretty derp, and they're functionally just Ork Nobz with better armor, and less krump. Shock Grenades only affect infantry within 6", which is even sillier. You would think a flashbangs into a gaggle of bikers or rough riders or Gun Drones would fuck them up...
>>
>>54288588
Well the Captain has the shoulder pads replacable, has a choice of two guns and one hand either empty or with power sword, so compared to the 7th Ed clampacks with precisely zero options for anything, this is actually pretty fucking modular. The Librarian has pretty much no options except for head and shoulders though.
>>
>>54288527
I would bet money that nearly all the typos in all the indexes are due to one guy on the publishing staff.
>>

Rather than have the indexes FAQ'd?

You need to stop drinking the GW coolaide. Stop giving them money when they fuck up, then begging them to take more of your money to correct their fuckup.
>>
How much better would 40k be if vanilla space marine armies were squatted along with their players?
>>
>>54288726
The actual non-starter Primaris will have separate shoulders
>>
>>54288755

IA14 was supposed to introduce the 30k mechanicum stuff into 40k and has been delayed for years, dumb ass.
>>
>>54288712
Tacmarines at 18 pts, for an extra wound and attack. They get a -1 Sv bolt pistol, ccw, and that's it.

Oh, and a 6" grenade that does no damage, but if it hits an enemy infantry unit (only infantry), they cannot overwatch and are -1 to hit. Enjoy trying to get in range :)

Oh, and enemy units within 3" of them have -1 Ld. So Ork Boyz are now Ld 29 instead of Ld 30.

They're pretty shitty overall. People hope they get ALL THE STRATAGEMS come their codex.

Mostly just hope for wargear options as they're just flat out better (read: viable) vanguard vets if they can take power weapons in any serious capacity.

Unrelated fluff question: the Dunecrawler has a Skitarii ranger as the gunner, and a vanguard as the driver. The vanguard is slowly dying in a fluid filled tank, but 1d4chan says both guys are dying. Why would the ranger be dying? He is operating the optional heavy stubber so he isn't wired to the controls right? Or is that a second ranger?
>>
>>54288902
More tarpittable though since they cannot Fly/Heroic Intervention.

I seriously doubt they will be viable, even with extra melee options. Melee was already secondary to shooting, even before Infinite Overwatch and free withdraw from melee.
