>To not force yourself to write
This is will quickly lead to you quitting, though it's close to the truth.
The best way is to force yourself to write at least a little bit every day, even if it's only one sentence. You'll have some days where that's all you can manage, but you'll find that after one sentence, you'll know what to write for the next, and the next until you've done way more than you expect.
Don't force yourself to do more than you can stand or it'll become work instead of fun.

>>
>>54255044
That depends on the person. Some people may quit but others can go a long time without updating everything. Just look at Italics or Bliss.

I tried the "write a little per day" thing and it doesn't work for me. When I work on something, I need to commit a lot more than just a sentence. So, my work effort is sparse bouts of heavy work. A lot of my work is dedicated to re-reading what I've done so far and correcting things I don't think are quite right, so it really only feels adequate to do it in large chunks.

Basically, if I don't feel like I have the energy to set myself down and hammer away at it, I simply won't. But that's just how I do it, and I can see why others won't work like that.

I like the idea, but IMO it's way to math heavy if you want to get a desirable outcome in all (or even many) areas. I don't want to have to open a spreadsheet and two calculators in order to have play a waifu Cyoa.

But that's just my 2 cents. Like the idea though.

>Hmm? Oh yes, you may now ask your questions."

Just give me the course list, I don't care anymore...

[Course List]
>Personal Combat Skill Level Two
I want to be able defend myself, but I don't think I need be a complete war machine on my own, so this should suffice.
>Patrician Politics Level Five
>Plebian Politics Level Five
Alright, my first order as Emporer or whatever is going to be to rename these, because these are some condescending ass names.
But I've always wanted to be able to solve my problems with words rather than violence, so I'll emphasize these.
If I'm gonna be the big cheese, I can hire advisors for tactics and strategy, so I'll put them on the back burner for now.

Alright, where's the school house?

Primarily this series about getting trinkets and powers from a budding goddess is basically the only good CYOA I really have at the moment.

Guess I'm... Some magitech inventor? Cyoas are about mundane powers and items that let you do cool stuff, slowly building up to genuine greater powers and things, so yeah. Inventing odd semi-useful gadgets slowly increasing in power.

If magitech isn't allowed in this setting, then maybe like, low level stage magician like thing with some actual magical skill?

Kinda coming up with all of this on the spot.

S'all good. I actually often skip PDF CYOAs myself, depending on my mood. One of the reasons is that I don't know what I'm getting into until I've downloaded the file onto my phone, which is what spawned a conversation about using giant text on the first page so people can see what it is, which is a great idea that I'm currently the only one doing.

Makes me feel like my PDFs have a distinct style, which is all very cool for me.

I've worked on this for way too long; time to just get this debauchery out of the way.
>Pestilence
Exotic bodymods, immunity to STDs, and basically no competition for the slot.

>Looking-Glass Kingdom
Pushing the limits of eternally clean, and rubbing various body parts with various humanoids.

>Thick Forests
>Mountain Ranges
>Flat Lands
Blending these three should help get everything from lush plains to craggy cliffs. Also, I'm assuming Flat Lands increase the size of the kingdom.
>Spectral Lands
Adding a touch of magic read: monstergirls to the kingdom. If I can find a workaround to this, I'll take Desert to add dungeons and the like into the mix.

>Citizen Life 18
>Hard Working I, II 16
Work hard, play hard.
>Happiness I, II 13
Morale is always high.
>Community I, II 12
Bonding activities are common.
>Dutiful II 11
Grease the wheels of society.
>Craftsmanship I, II 9
Quality work is its own benefit.
>Engineering III 8
Spicing things up a bit.
>Farming I, II 6
Seasonings, drugs, and "livestock".
>Cooking I, II 4
Hedonism isn't *entirely* sexual, after all.
>Education I, II 2
Dumb people aren't sexy.
>Entertainment I, II 0
The rest of the types of hedonism, from safe (ish) drug use to gambling to racing, and also 'literature' and 'parties'.

>Wilds' Beast Masters *200
We'd obviously source some most basically all of the monsters from nearer the Kingdom.
>Imperial Magi *200
If you can't see how these are fun, you're blind.
>Empire's Hands *50
Unless a Smut Dragon is available, courtesan types round out the army nicely.

>Fleshweaver's Kit
Kinky.

>Alison Karner
A King of this magnitude should not be held down by a wife, but other positions may be available...

(This instance of) Pestilentia is a curious breed of Kingdom - though its reputation as a center of debauchery is well-earned, it manages to flourish in a way few other civilizations can.
Its citizens are healthy in body and mind (resisting disease and addiction alike) and curiously sensible in attitude - ensuring that tasks are complete before indulging in their many available pleasures.
The Horseman him(?)self is similarly contradictory in nature; sage and whimsical, lax and strict as his(?) mood and the situation demands, with everything from the government to the population to his(?) Royal Sub.

I don't see /trash/ getting a mass ban, because if it was going to happen it would have already. That sort of thing only really works if you do it within a month, otherwise you're just wasting server space. Also because /trash/ is a moderation tool in itself, in that moving threads to /trash/ is meant to tell people that the thread doesn't belong on the board you posted it on, rather than specifically banning people over a mistake.

In the last thread, people were talking about how they'd have difficulty ignoring an author's comments in terms of canonicity. Would that still be the case if the author marked their comments as "intent" while writing them but they were explicitly not necessarily a canonical answer?
>>
>>54255021
Having to have certain stats to marry certain girls is silly, I'm marrying them not joining their faction, and I imagine any one of these groups would be happy to have one of their own banging the big man in charge of this mess. Other than that though, I really like the skill selection and the setting, and the factions are interesting. Part of me would like to see some more emperor stuff on top of selecting skills and picking waifus but I don't know what form that should take so I can't really complain about it.
>>
>>54257990
An interesting proposition.

I suppose it depends on the CYOA and the author in question. Highlander has used clarification and exposition from the thread to help expand her CYOA, others tend to remain silent while others classify enough there is little left to the imagination.
>>
>>54257990
Author's explanations should only elaborate on shit that's already in the CYOA. If the CYOA requires outside words of the author to function properly or establish something that isn't just interesting tidbits of fluff, then they did a shoddy job and need to release an updated version that has the important info.

Otherwise, it's the player's responsibility to not be retarded, read shit, and think for themselves. The author's intent doesn't need to be obvious for this to work properly.

Something like this.
CYOA:
>Waifutina is generally a pretty cheerful person, but sometimes she gets into strange moods. And for whatever reason, dogs seem to avoid her.
Comment:
>When writing her, I figured that Waifutina changed her name from Waifutron because she is actually a robot, and she's embarrassed by that fact. It isn't that dogs avoid her, rather, they are weirded out by her lack of smell, but she really loves dogs. Of course, if it isn't written explicitly in the text, you can come up with your own secret and backstory.
The comment isn't intended to actually define what Waifutina's secret actually is, only explain what the background to the writing was. The intent was always to have this character be ambiguous, for the reader to fill in something for their own build. But would knowing the author had "an" answer force it to be "the answer, to the point where you'd have trouble imagining any other backstory for the character?

negative effects
Boundless flame -1 yields 6 loyalty

In the eyes of the majority, yes. There will always be those who cite it when discussion about said character occurs.
>to the point where you'd have trouble imagining any other backstory for the character?
Personally, no, but I'm not very interested in crafting backgrounds for characters to begin with.
>>
>>54258188
>Would knowing that the author had "an" answer make it "The" answer?
Yes. The act of knowing that there IS an answer in the writer's mind means that answer is the "correct" one. The entire CYOA can be changed by even vaguely implying that there are definitions of things behind the scenes. That's how cognition works.

Of course, you can get away with the players knowing that there IS an answer, so long as you never imply nor state what that answer COULD be. The author has a lot more weight than most people realize.

I'm a fucking Emperor, and I'm going to act like it. There is no reason AT ALL for me to ever be directly involved in a battle.

>Waifu
Queen Voudica of the Xernite Frontier

Why? First of all, because she wrote a letter that was frank without coming off as an ice-bitch, and wasn't some childish or disrespectful tard like so many of the others. I just like her more. Secondly, her psychic abilities are just plain good. I know that the theologians consider her kind to be disgusting, but I consider her being psychic to be the evolution of the human species and NEED some psychic genes in my progeny. I may get the throne through being an awoken, but my descendants are going to keep it by being the next evolution of mankind. Last, marrying her is just plain safe. She won't betray me or try to manipulate me, and I have the undying loyalty of all her people. I don't need to give a fuck about appeasing them ever, and she herself is useful and her fetish isn't bad.

Politically, this puts me in an interesting position. I've gone ahead and tallied the base loyalties of all factions:

>Allies
Xernite: 12
Legios Comani: 9
Solar Lords: 9
Crucibii: 8
Synteca: 7

>Neutral
Legios Auxilios: 6
Boundless Flame: 5
Cosmech Faithful: 5
Unseen Blades: 5

>Enemies
House Renon: 3
Futurist Front: 2
Orion Empire: -2

All in all, I come out favorably. My first move will be ingratiating myself to the Legios Auxilios as fast as possible to secure their aid ASAP, and placating the rest of the neutral factions immediately. After I've done that to satisfactory levels, I will absolutely genocide the Orion Empire. Scorched earth. They will not fucking remain, all their leaders will be totally fucking scourged from the face of the galaxy for having the balls to threaten my authority. They hate me anyway.

Dealing with the Futurist Front and House Renon should be easy.

It is a good idea, which is why I suggested it back then heh. Few other pdfs use an image or something to make them stand out, which is also a good idea so people can see what it is from the thumbnail... the unfinished unversal war comes to mind as one.

I do plan on getting around to doing minor and major changes after I have time to give it a good read. Pretty busy right now with some computer issues that I have to solve (read rebuilding them). I did take a small break to help out the WildWest anon by posting a psd for him to use.

Might do the superhero waifu one as that would be pretty simple to imageify....if you'd like that. Drop me a mail at [email protected] with the images of the girls, otherwise I'll end up just trying to find something that fits....that's not anime. Photomanipulations or Digital art, etc..

For the unlearned plebs

>But as soon as she arrived at the age of youth, and was now ready for the world, her mother put her on the stage. Forthwith, she became a courtesan, and such as the ancient Greeks used to call a common one, at that: for she was not a flute or harp player, nor was she even trained to dance, but only gave her youth to anyone she met, in utter abandonment. Her general favors included, of course, the actors in the theater; and in their productions she took part in the low comedy scenes. For she was very funny and a good mimic, and immediately became popular in this art. There was no shame in the girl, and no one ever saw her dismayed: no role was too scandalous for her to accept without a blush.

>She was the kind of comedienne who delights the audience by letting herself be cuffed and slapped on the cheeks, and makes them guffaw by raising her skirts to reveal to the spectators those feminine secrets here and there which custom veils from the eyes of the opposite sex. With pretended laziness she mocked her lovers, and coquettishly adopting ever new ways of embracing, was able to keep in a constant turmoil the hearts of the sophisticated. And she did not wait to be asked by anyone she met, but on the contrary, with inviting jests and a comic flaunting of her skirts herself tempted all men who passed by, especially those who were adolescent.

>On the field of pleasure she was never defeated. Often she would go picnicking with ten young men or more, in the flower of their strength and virility, and dallied with them all, the whole night through. When they wearied of the sport, she would approach their servants, perhaps thirty in number, and fight a duel with each of these; and even thus found no allayment of her craving. Once, visiting the house of an illustrious gentleman, they say she mounted the projecting corner of her dining couch, pulled up the front of her dress, without a blush, and thus carelessly showed her wantonness. And though she flung wide three gates to the ambassadors of Cupid, she lamented that nature had not similarly unlocked the straits of her bosom, that she might there have contrived a further welcome to his emissaries.

That last sentence is totally talking about fuckable nipples by the way this was one kinky bitch

>Frequently, she conceived, but as she employed every artifice immediately, a miscarriage was straightway effected. Often, even in the theater, in the sight of all the people, she removed her costume and stood nude in their midst, except for a girdle about the groin: not that she was abashed at revealing that, too, to the audience, but because there was a law against appearing altogether naked on the stage, without at least this much of a fig-leaf. Covered thus with a ribbon, she would sink down to the stage floor and recline on her back. Slaves to whom the duty was entrusted would then scatter grains of barley from above into the calyx of this passion flower, whence geese, trained for the purpose, would next pick the grains one by one with their bills and eat. When she rose, it was not with a blush, but she seemed rather to glory in the performance. For she was not only impudent herself, but endeavored to make everybody else as audacious.

I suspect its the reverse of this, that fetishes involve sexualizing parts of a person's personality or belief system (particularly idea that are in their heads in puberty). It would only appear that way because most fetishists don't advertise their interests to others. Example: I'm a transformation fetishist, I have major body issues and have never been happy with my body (I believe that's the basis of it), I've told one living person my interests and not even in much detail, most normal people aren't going to suspect I even have weird interests much less that particular one.

>Having to have certain stats to marry certain girls is silly, I'm marrying them not joining their faction, and I imagine any one of these groups would be happy to have one of their own banging the big man in charge of this mess.

I think they are in order to survive whatever trials or whatnot they want from you. Like the Crucibii girl needs you to fight the saurs, and you have no chance under Combat 4. The only one with no expectations for you (Synthetica) is the only one with no stats needed.

>>54255052
Xernite starts with 9 loyalty, but marrying them gives you 3. Does that give them 12, with the remaining 2 acting as a buffer? Or does it stop automatically at 10 with the three being there in case of any hits from the first three brides.

You're right, OTB syndrome is one I've tried to avoid.

"Lemme get this straight. Some god emperor is dead and I'm the first in succession? We're fucked."

I'll take Combat 2, Patrician and Plebian Politics 5. I'm an Emperor, not a fighter. That is what generals are for. This should eliminate domestic threats, the worst that can happen to me is disease or assassination by foreigners.

"Hmm, so my political training means it's to our advantage to take a betrothed from a rebellion faction? Logical. Oh. And you dug up their fetishes. Good man."

"Hmm, The Badasses, Psychics, Xenobarbarians, Legions, and Spies are out of my league. Pity, I'm keen on the Xeno."

"That leaves: Orgy Witches, Traditionalists, Renonites, The Orion Empress, Futurists, Solar, and Synths... Hmm..."

"Of these, Venhalia sounds like a lovely person though the politics she brings to the table are horribly complex. The Futurist mission statement sounds appealing, or I can put my diplomacy to the test and unite the empire.

"Hmm. The distant factions are: Crucibii, Synths (6), Renon, Blades (5), Auxilios (4), Futurists (3), and Orion (0)."

"Hmmph. The Futurists are the largest and widespread faction. Contact Friiya please, we have much to discuss." (Rin is a shit waifu though.)

"And you say multiple consorts would not be recommended? That's not my preference anyhow. Contact the others, they can have a seat at the table if they want, or rebel if they prefer. I would prefer the former."

"It will not be clean or easy, but strengthening the lowest among us will strengthen the empire as a whole. I intend to join these factions together and herald a golden age for the strong and weak."

-- Pretty damn good for a waifu CYOA. The political implications add a good deal of depth.

Honestly, most CYOAs are pretty good around here. The only one I can think of that we've gotten lately that was actively shit was the thothposter one. Everything else has been okay at least, in that theres always been some people who have enjoyed them even when not actively praised. Hell, the ones I haven't much cared for of late myself tend to be coloured by their authors and their behavior more than the content. That's fair but frankly the whole idea of them having trials for the Emperor doesn't make a whole lot of logical sense to me. For example, the Futurist Front. I have no doubt they'd love it if I was skilled at speaking to the plebs. But, my ability to handle the plebs says nothing about me actually wanting to help them rather than just use them. And, if I'm not good at handling the plebs but I honestly want to help them, why would the Futurists refuse my friendship? Likewise, even if they don't know my motivations, if one of their own is my wife she'd have my ear and the ability to try to convince me directly of what they want, and that's a pretty valuable thing.

Even if the faction finds politics distasteful, some powerful people within have to realize that you have to play the game if you want to win. They might not like marrying off one of their own for political reasons, but at the end of the day as long as the Emperor maintains their position they're the most powerful person around, and the importance of holding sway over them can't really be understated.

Upon further reflection, I don't really have a governing plan:

My newfound alliance with the Futurists requires advancement for the lower class. Education, jobs, entertainment, comfort.

The Alliance scores are:+2 Future, +2 Cosmech, +1 Qomani, +1 Solar, -1 Empire, -1 Synth, -1 Auxilios, -2 Xernian, -3 Renon.

With the extremely high loyalty of the Cosmech, and decent loyalty of the Boundless Flame, we can come to an agreement wherein a gentle tax is levied on their factions to start a Theological College. The Cosmech having an extremely high score would allow many to advance in their ranks, and possibly drive me to declare them the state religion.

The more militaristic citizens can join the Crucibii or even better, the Qomani. Once again, high loyalty scores ensure cooperation and advancement. Qomani are likely to provide my top military brass.

The solar lords have little to offer, but their bolstered support means I'm inclined to rely on them for intellectual strength. They can provide a traditional education.

Cushy jobs would be an officer position with the Qomani or Priesthood with the Cosmech or Flame. Xenos would have a rougher time with advancement, but I'll work with the other factions to give them a chance.

In my defense, though I'm not a fan of the idea of orgies in general, I rejected her because she represents an archaic organization that's largely to blame for a great deal of the Empire's current state.
The idea of human sacrifice is primitive and serves no greater purpose than to kill random people for ridiculous and pointless rituals.
The idea that Universe "is dead" is also a pessimistic, unproductive outlook to take that in no way helps anything or anyone.
I wouldn't burn the witches like I'm some kind of holy crusader, but I would not support them and if that leads to serious conflict, so be it.
They stand upon nothing but superstition and outdated practices and should be forced to adapt to the state of the Empire and mature past this infantile state of their development.
The suiter herself seems lovely beside her connection to the group, though.
Shame she couldn't have been part of a less deplorable organization.
>>
>>54261136
My apologies for not making it clear - the sacrifices are of people that would have deserved it. Corrupt nobles, weaklings that have failed the empire, etc. They've become more political and used as an anti-pleb tool, but she despises that and wants to change it back.

Did you not read it? There ideals are strict, but their enforcement of it are lax. They don't try to force followers to adhere rigidly to their sect's practices. And their theology actually has had real results, in the form of actually beginning to produce "advanced" humans.

Like that. They don't kill for fun or because of some sort of vague spiritual ideal alone (though I'm sure there's some intersection), but to get rid of the chaff of the Empire. Siding with their faction is all about helping the true faithful regain dominance and get rid of the hangers-on who are dragging it down.

I can see from your wording here where your true feelings actually come from. And the first case "depends", huh. If I'm an emperor, I don't need personal combat skills. That's what my armies are for. Unfortunately, it looks like one of the better waifus requires some degree of skill with it. Similarly, I can delegate command of individual battles to my generals. I'd just be focusing on the large-picture stuff.

>Wives: Bassalia (Syntectica), Alivia (Solar Lords), Venhalia (House Renon), Eodora (Orion Empire), Friiya (Futurist Front)
Getting the Tech-Priests on-side is important for long term stability. Similarly, the Solar Lords because Earth. Then I get the nobles on-side, along with the peasants.

Legios Qomani: 11

Orion Empire: 4

So, I've got the Crucibii pushed into open revolt, but other than that, it looks like things would go pretty well. Most importantly, I've thoroughly secured the support of the military, I've gotten the breakaway empire re-absorbed, and I should hopefully be in a position to try to institute some reforms.
