I saw some people bitching about Admech fans the other day, but I've never really noticed anything particularly annoying about the beepboops, and I kinda like them. Would like to get myself a Skitarii-heavy army with infantry and those sweet spider-tanks, plus a little air support because planes as my first 40k force, will people get irritated at me for playing them?

I know Admech doesn't have any planes, but I figured that there's nothing stopping me paying some CP or a HQ tax and bringing along a couple tasty IMPERIUM ones, right?

3 of them should put out 6 shots 4 hit but most priority vehicles are T8 so you're wounding on 5s with pitiful rend, and doing maybe 1-2 mortal wounds along the way.

Impaler gets the same number of hits on average but wounds those same vehicles on 4s, gets meq on 2s and has better rend ignoring cover.

His hood gives him a sorcerer-y like look and I like the pose. I was thinking of trimming off all the horns and replace the powerfist with a pistol arm. The blade is fine as is, very occult looking.

It did one ap1 hit (a 1/3 chance of blowing something not superheavy up, now it does just under half the wounds for most tanks and a lot less for things that were superheavy, the exceptions being battlewagons and land raiders), with a little lower probability of penning so comparing it to melta was a little generous, it didn't do shit to anything with invuns, anything fast enough to be in your lines by turn 2, or anything over t5 with more than one wound.

I haven't lost a game yet as Tau. They are not bad at all. Fireblades+FW give a ridiculous amount of S5 shots, Fusion Commanders do work against vehicles, Stealth Suits are much better, Pathfinders are dirt cheap now, and being able to fall back from combat and overwatch with your whole army again is -huge-.

Suicide by paint - Paint and play 500 points a month. You play with 1k until the last month or two I forget at which point you bump up to 2k.

Goal is to jump up boys squads whenever I can and need to rest run up. Kommandos go after easy targets or hold out to play mop up and grab objectives. Planning on Stormboys GHaz and more boys with maybe a second weirdboy at 2k. What yall think?

Ok so this morning I went to a game store and asked the owner what should I do to get into Warhammer 40k.
So far, I got these insights:
>GW has done this Dark Imperium set which costs like 65€ for the basic pack
>The packs have the Ultramarines and one "rotten green" army (guess it was like Nurgle marines or something)
>The minis in these packs come pre-painted, so that one can start playing without spending a fortune on paints and tools
>He suggested buying two basic packs with a discount rather than buying one 125€ pack because it gives me more minis for the same bucks

Now, from the knowledge I gathered on 1d4chan and /tg/, I have some doubts about the quality of the minis, and wheter or not these packs are suitable for casual play.

It says the Hellbrute "comes equipped with a multi-melta and hellbrute fist", so do I have to pay the model's point value plus the wargear value for those two weapons?

For the most part the nerfs were well targeted at the most OP, and many of those units are still good.
Sadly Swooping Hawks were made kinda worthless at the same time. They were a little bit to good before, but now there isn't any point. The changes to the gun were a sidegrade, and the grenade pack changes might also be. But now they deep strike like everyone else, so what was there biggest point is gone, and now taking scourges requires no extra investment, so replaced.

Both, generally. Deathspitter/Boneswords isn't too pricy and gives all-around performance.

Genestealers with Toxin Sacs are expensive and risky. Without big monsters, Hive Guard are your best option for anti-vehicle and even thats limited. I'd recomend compromising and using an Exocrine or something at least. Or, I guess, Biovores are an option. Enough of them will wittle away targets but its dicy.

Lictors are disruptors by the by. You don't expect them to kill, you use then to tie up units from the rear and threaten fragile stuff.

A: The marines in the box can be from whatever chapter you want

B: They are not pre-anything'd. The only thing different about them is that they are monopose, which means that they are easier to assemble at the cost of not being poseable. You're going to need your own paint, clippers, and glue. The good news is that Warhammer Stores usually have public-use paints, however you don't get to pick what colors you get, so you're going to have to buy whatever they don't have for yourself.

C: The "basic packs" are what you should get if you don't want two armies. You could probably find someone to take the other half off your hands or sell it to, but if you don't have the time then it's best for you to just get a Start Collecting box, as he referred you to. I don't know why anyone would recommend two of those over Dark Imperium unless they were of completely different armies. Or the same army.

D: I already explained the first fault of the minis, that being that they are mono-pose, but the only other issue about the objective quality of the miniatures is that the barrels of the guns don't have the holes drilled out. Which is normal for 40k miniatures, it's not unique to that box. That's it. They're almost entirely amazing.
