There's gonna be a mono-colored deck that features a super-common tribe. Soldiers, Merfolk, Zombies, Goblins or Elves. Definitely gonna happen. I'd wanna see Wizards personally, but who knows?

As far as a tribe I'd like to see get more love, there are many I could choose. For the purposes of this thread though, I'm gonna go with Kavu.

Fuck any other tribe, I got exactly what I wanted. I like the idea of swinging Nacatle Warpride and Pride Sovereign, gaining +4/+4~ or so from Nactle, then doubling the Pride Sovereign for something like 12/12 trample. And it could be more like 15/15 if Arahbo booned the Pride Sovereign too before this started.

What I would have loved is Wolves because it tangents really hard into a lot of other tribes. I think they are associated with warriors, archers, shamans, werewolves and elves. I don't see it happening with cats as one of the tribes though. The other one I would love but will never see happen is spiders. I could imagine a spider/insect deck but I don't see it being very likely. BUGbugs for c17!

I mean, it's not wrong if you can follow up on it. I actually like to test these claims whenever they pop up, and people usually can't pony up. For good reason though. If with me killing off your shit and throwing off your game plan you can still murder me on schedule, then your deck is probably too strong for the deck I am using, and I need to switch to one of my stronger ones next game.

So I'm pretty bad at game politics, but I remember hearing discussion about spite playing cards if you're about to lose and how it's kingmaking because it could make the guy you're losing to lose on the following turn.
But if you're losing to the most powerful guy at the table and you're holding a card that can influence the rest of the game, isn't it kingmaking if you don't play it because you're essentially leaving the game up to people who may or may not have ways to deal with the boardstate?

I'd say for sure we're not getting elves, demons, beasts, or giants because we've already had those.

Five color dargons is a lowball pitch for money. Kitties seems like it's geared toward new players for their first EDH; people will buy it for singles but it's not going to be another Atraxa. I'd say the last two are going to be super safe, like esper spirits or rakdos/jund goblins, but I'd say it's a pretty safe bet at least one of the decks is going to be an 'occupation' tribal like wizards or rogues hopefully rogues.

Grixis/Esper zombies would be cute, but I don't see it happening.
Colorless Myr tribal would be the best of all possible universes, but since we're in the universe with creature AND planeswalker Samut, we're definitely in 'Universe B'.

Several threads old, I know, but I decided to finally collect some thoughts on this list.

It's a heck of an EDH deck. This is both a good thing and a bad thing; good in that decks built like that tend to be fun when at a table where they can work, bad in that they often won't work at a given table. What do I mean? I mean that the deck is chock full of expensive cards that have super splashy impacts. On the plus side, these sorts of effects tend to be at least decent, but the problem is you're never really going to hit them. You've got an average CMC of 4.38, while running 35 lands and three -- just three -- ramp cards that come in before 4 mana. Comparing this to my Scarab God brew, I'm sitting at 3.11 CMC average, 35 lands, and 10 ramp effects at CMC 3 and under. One of these decks is going to resolve its spells in a consistent manner. The problem is worse because (Barring your Training Grounds) the toll for actually getting your bonus zombies is a very notable 4 mana: your odds of pulling one AND doing anything else in the same turn cycle are fairly low

And in a funny way, having all these heavy hitters helps you less in Scarab God than you'd expect. Every time you bring something back, it comes back as a 4/4: if you use cheaper creatures with good abilities like Cephalid Constable they can upgrade in really scary ways; most of your creatures will actually degrade, at least a little, when brought back. Ask yourself if you really need so many of your natural targets to be in the cost 5 and up range when that means that they will spend a good deal of time sitting dead in your hand. Wrexial, Phenax, Nemesis of Reason, Praetors, Primordials, and Gearhulks are strong, but only if you actually cast them.

Perhaps you're intending to discard them, and just take them as 4/4 tokens for 4 mana, but you have more sac than discard, really -- think of how much better Attrition will feel when you can sacrifice something you'd honestly like better in its second life, as opposed to something you paid a million mana for and are probably getting good value out of already.

The same goes for the spells. Rise of the Dark Realms and Army of the Damned are explosive when you finally get there. Life's Finale and Decree of pain are good, and offer you a ton of value, but they won't stop you from dying while insufficiently set up the same way that Toxic Deluge, Damnation, or even Mutilate or Bontu's Last Reckoning would. Endless Ranks of the Dead isn't too mana-expensive, but it represents a similar flaw in your deck building strategy because it's a powerfully win-more card: if you have an edge, it will extend that edge, especially with The Scarab God, but it won't help you really generate an edge to begin with. I might keep it in, but you should limit cards like that.

On the plus side, you've got some good CA in your enchantments: Phyrexian Arena, Rhystic Study, and Mystic Remora are all workhorses and of course winning off Necropotence should be fairly trivial for most decks. In fact, the enchantments are the one part of your deck that maybe you shouldn't touch.

I don't have that much to say about your land base, since you seem to have the essence of a budget selection down (Grab the shock but not the fetch; favor shit that can come in untapped, make some meta calls like Homeward Path and Ghost Quarter with utility...), but if you're running Urborg+Coffers in blue/black you have no excuse for excluding Tolaria West.

Call back when you've gotten your curve under 4 average and have 10+ ramp effects with the majority of said effects costing 2 or less, (Protip: Fellwar Stone to hit off-color activations you steal)

Ninjas have a lot of very good effects and to get ninjutsu you just need an unblocked attacker which is easy to make with a lot of cards and combat abilities. Ninja is perfectly doable, we just don't know if WotC is willing to do it.

Spirit dancer and sram were going to be in here with some more bounce auras and some prison-esque enchants but I decided against it because I felt removal was a stronger rout versus some decks

Really, though, how many plagues can we get? Locusts, obviously. Water into Blood. Fiery Hail, Darkness, those have good card calls. Boils and Sores? Pox has you covered. Flies can probably make their way in there, as can Diseased Livestock. I have a feeling you'll run up on some problems with Lice, Wild Animals, and Death of the Firstborn.

I was extremely lucky with my last 3 pack pulls (Masterpiece, Cavern of Souls and Fatal Push) from Aether Revolt packs and an MM17 pack.
I want to continue my luck streak. Should I get another MM17 pack, maybe an Eternal Masters and maybe Oath or BFZ?

It's about your general being put face down into exile from your library with a card like Bomats Courrier or Duplicity. Read the rules on face down cards, the rules about being a commander, and the rules about commander replacement effects and when you can apply them.

The just of it is that face down cards lose all characteristics, but being a commander is explicitly not a characteristic.

It only works if you get mindslavered or purposefully allow your general to get shuffled into your library, then play one of a half dozen cards that exile a card face down without letting anyone know the identity of that card.

It's a corner case in a corner case, that will probably never happen unless you plan to make it happen. But it could, and it's a rules loophole made by Sheldon. It can be closed by saying you can't apply the replacement effect if the card would be put into exile face down.

I want to make a groupsluggy pillowfort Mardu deck but I can't decide on which commander to use.
I am not a big fan of partners but are any of the Mardu pairs worthwhile.
This is for a ~$100 multiplayer deck with a bunch of casuals.

Zurgo looks alright because I can run tons of boardwipes and keep my sluggy burn enchantments/artifacts laying around.

It sucks though because all WoTC did in Kaladesh was portray Aetherborn as violent murderers or menacing. I mean, the only cards where they aren't shown doing something violent or scheme-y is on Ambitious Aetherborn and maybe Midnight Entourage. Their story is shit because WoTC only wanted them to look cool and they just end up looking like the odd man out on Kaladesh (i.e. a gang of violent assholes)
