Primaris grey knights will either look stupid and lazy or they'll require an enormous amount of green stuff to make it work.

Primaris marines are nice and cheap right now

He's wrong about levithans but so are you. They are ungodly against hordes, but it's certainly not OP against most other stuff, and it's can't one shot land raiders.
Against vehicles it's a twin lascannon that trades range for better AP and better average damage. A lascannon does more damage when you account for how long it will take a levithan to get in range, 11.111... Wounds vs 13.827.... Wounds.
The levithan is good, but it's not nearly as broken as your implying.

Check out the basic fluff of each of those units, Lexicanum is pretty decent for that if you don't want to buy books yet.
Generally it is the best to pick an army you like the look and story of, as the rules can change drastically over the years. Most armies are also flexible enough to play them with your favorite playstyle, with some exceptions (melee Tau is just a no go)

I'm an autist, but even I am able to tone down my list and level of play depending on opponent. The strength of armies is based on calculations, it's not that hard.
Still have no idea whether people appreciate it however. Can't even tell the emotional state of my mother most of the time so I guess I'll never know.

As it is, I estimate you'll likely get something like 15 plasma shots on turns 1-3, as you'll be getting closer into rapid-fire range while the enemy will be doing everything in their power to target down the incoming plasma guns (we'll assume the plasma cannons are hunkering in cover and thus too difficult to dig out when compared to the advancing plasma guns)

I suspect you'll meet your match against the T8 vehicles. Using your BS3+ as a basis, A Leman Russ can eat upwards of 32 unsupercharged plasma attacks BEFORE it's even at half health. So you need the ability to boost damage and strength to knock out those targets on the occasions they appear. With rerolling supercharged plasma, you can knock out that same Russ with only 18 plasma shots.

Khorne's aversion to psykers made perfect sense back when he was the god of honourable combat. Killing someone with a sword or gun; that was fine because it required some kind of martial prowess. But psykers could kill someone without any kind of skill in war, just by blasting them with their mind. That didn't sit well with Khorne since by his standards it was cheating.

Now, with Khorne just being "I care not from whence the blood flows" it really makes no sense that he wouldn't like psykers. Psykers can make blood flow, therefore Khorne should like them.

So I had my first game of primaris marines at 1000 points

Gravis captain

2x Lts

3x intercessors

2x hellblasters

opponent was corsairs

Was pretty fun. Hornets and starcannon wasps are pretty much dedicated anti-primaris mulchers but the chads did fine against his jump pack infantry, bikes and autarch.

Highlights involved sole survivor chad sergeant and a Lt punching autarch down to 1 wound, one intercessor squad winning combat against a bike squad and a corsair squad and my gravis captain eating a melta gun to the face with no repercussions.

All in all fun game, I conceded when with just my captain, one Lt, his two hornets and 1 wound autarch on the board. It was a complete slaughter.

Lessons learned:

1) it clearly showed me that I need a lascannon predator/dreadnought to unfuck my anti-vehicle situation. I hope the repulsor ends up being good enough to fill this role.

2) Hellblasters are good but they won't win the attrition fight against hornet pulse lasers.

3) intercessors are really, really good roadblocks against D1 anti infantry weapons. Even the odd starcannon wound roll of 6 was pretty easily absorbed.

If this is about as bad as it can get for my primaris dudes, I'll have fun this edition.

Actually the chainsword is still viable later on. I completed a heroic campaign with just bolter and chainsword. It has a faster strike speed so it's better for landing stun chains than the axe.

With hormagaunts, the toxin sacs are mediocre due to not being very dangrous-genestealers have claws that have good AP when rolling sixes so theres synergy, hormagaunts are a tarpit to slow an enemy down and anything they can kill is 1w anyway. Also blob them up to thirty per squad. More bodies is always better

Why would you ever want toxins on termagants, they shouldnt be in CC. Even Adrenals almost doubles the PPM. Keep them cheap and squat them on rearfield objectives with your tervigon.

Warriors are best cheap, i use double bonesword+deathspitter or devourer+Claws+toxin. Flesh hooks arent worth it.

Gargoyles dont want adrenals, and toxin sacs are gonna be mediocre on them same as termas. Keep it simple

That Carnifex is a waste of points, its trying to do everything at once and will do none of those things well. Either run a brick of two or three fexes with OOE or dodge them this edition

Cut toxin sacs from all your gants, give your tyrant claws and bring twenty more genestealers to run with your broodlord.

If you're going double melee biomorphs on Hive Tyrant, you have three strictly best options:
1. Double scything talons, best against GEQ
2. Rending claws/2x boneswords, using all attacks you can on rending claws (other than the mandatory 1 on tail 1 extra on boneswords), best against MEQ and anything tougher
3. Rending claws/lash whip, if you really want that lash whip effect.

Don't be fooled by rending claws being cheap on hive tyrant, these aren't just the most cost-efficient options, they are also the strongest.

For your carnifex, ditch venom cannon, take stranglethorn cannon instead. It outperforms it in almost every situation. You should only ever be putting stranglethorn cannon or deathspitters on carnifexes as ranged weapons.

If you want to go half&half melee/shootyfex, monstrous scything talons are perfectly fine (use thresher scythe over it if against GEQ), but it's worth considering crushing claws as anti-vehicle/monster and just relying on thresher scythe against any GEQ/MEQ enemies. Both are perfectly fine options, but it does look like your current list has a lot more anti-infantry than anti-vehicle so far.

(note that if a carnifex has two melee weapons, you should just be going scything talons.)
