I'm going to try to make an edit of the genie dlc to hopefully ensure that people have less problems with it.
This is what I'm thinking of changing from what I've gathered bothers people:
1) Make the dagger definition more apparent.
2) Dagger all the contract/client options besides wheel of fate.
3) Remove the whole client thing for wheel of fate genies. Maybe add something about being able to just normally meet them?
4) Add something to wheel of fate, to make it more clear that it's not just business. I'm not the best writer, so I would appreciate any advise on that one.

I had such an interesting cyoa dream. The world was ending or had ended. Something big and evil had invaded and was killed, but in doing so the world was pretty much destroyed. Somehow in that desolate world a few people, including me, sensed magic in the air and we knew that we could use that magic to rebuild society.

We decided to split up and I travelled to the nearest major city and that's when my dream suddenly became a cyoa. My choices revolved around 2 things: what kept my magic together and what my magic was used for.

The first part was deciding on the fuel for my magic. Picking Lifeforce for example meant the people living in my domain would die sooner, grow slightly unhealthier, etc. as price for being sheltered within my magic. Willpower made them less independent and creative. Souls did nothing but consumed their very souls once they died.

The main part was me building a city-type settlement using those shards of magic tied together with my chosen fuel. For x shards I could build walls that reached the clouds. For y shards I could sprout trees that grew parfaits and cakes. For z shards I could create a flying lake. Everything was slightly odd like that.

There were basically 2 possible paths in this dream. I could either completely subject the people who lived in that ruined city creating a far more magical, powerful and static city with them becoming nothing but husks as the price. Or I could work together with them, them relying on my magic to survive and expand, allowing me to slowly grow in power in time.

The whole thing had a Mitakihara city vibe. I woke up while I was debating which path to take so I might not remember it fully or explain it well. It was an interesting experience though.

Except, how do I justify that you get the 5,000 points at the start of the CYOA? I could go Star Dust and say "they want to give you the payment up-front" but then that makes several assumptions about the job. For example, if your job is to do exploration and find human artifacts, how did they justify that 5,000 was enough? What if you find artifacts worth much more? A solution to this would to come up with some sort of "reward" system but I'm highly against that, since it kind of rails you towards having to discover certain things.

I'm still sort of leaning towards flat payments rather than rates over time, though.

So, after watching about an hour of photoshop tutorials I've finished my edit of the genie dlc. I'm sorry,
but my editing is pretty primitive. I hope it isn't too evident.
I just changed some details but I hope that people don't have as much of a problem with it, because I think the content itself is quite nice. If there is anything I should change, just tell me.
Changes: daggered the candidates, made the dagger definition pretty obvious (in my opinion), changed it so WoF can't take clients (but possibly meet them if you want) and added something to WoF so that the team stuff is more like a bunch of potential friends.
I didn't change anything regarding the 'businesslike' nature of the contracts because I couldn't really think of a good way. If this really bothers people, tell me if there's anything (in my scope) that I can change and I will try to do so.

I do too, but there's an extent to which it can get tedious. I don't want to overstep that, but I want to be within the correct bounds for it to be nice to optimize. I want it to have a nice level of optimization, like a Stardew Valley (or something similar) sort of thing.

The challenge is coming up with enough things to spend your money on. If I go with that route, I don't want to have the CYOA make you be able to afford everything after 1 year. Yet, at the same time, I want people to be able to get what they want in a fair amount of time.

I am certainly up to making this as complex as it should be, basically.

So I have been thinking about what CYOA to make after Infested. I guess I haven't told /tg/ about my upcoming Infected CYOA. You're patient zero, the first carrier the lewd D-virus. You will posses the progenitor strain of the D-virus and will be the master of all the infected. You will be able to choose how the D-virus effects people and you will be able to infect the entire world and conquer the world with it.

Anyways I got a lot of good ideas for my next CYOA after infected, but I could use some of your input, here's a strawpol. I won't solely decide which CYOA I make based on the results of the strawpol, but it will influence which CYOA I will choose to make.

Okay /tg/ I've decided to finally get down and make a CYOA (or bust). I'm making one that revolves around being a fantasy-setting innkeeper focusing on the inn itself, providing food and drink (i.e. alcohol) and additional some services like an item shop and maybe a whorehouse, and hiring the staff that work there. Does this sound like a good idea?

Should I go with generic fantasy races or should I add/replace races for flavor? Race will affect food and drink choices in some way, I just haven't decided yet. What would you like to see in this CYOA?

Hey. So I'm actually putting some plans to paper (excel) for the dungeon master / core thing. Main component is going to be you can make any monster you want but you have to purchase the associated traits they have like [Corrosive] or [Flying] or [Ethereal]. While I'm making the giant list of traits, I was wondering if there are anything else that should be added to the cyoa. Definitely need to pick among various employees and services, having some events or drawbacks would be pretty fun too, such as if your inn participates in a certain festival or whatever. Having various events that would effect your inn for better or worse would be kind of cool.

Ideas for services outside of traditional Inn stuff:

-Sell potions
-Appraise magic equipment
-Offer quests from any locals who show up and vent their troubles to you while drinking heavily

Maybe offer an option to show what you did before owning the inn, and skills of what exactly you can do that you won't really need employees for (so you can prioritize if you should have an expert chef to cook for you, or just an apprentice to help when things get too busy for you to handle on your own)
