Instead, all content committed to print for WARMACHINE & HORDES will be found within the pages of No Quarter Prime."

I've been playing Ret for a while and I'm thinking of picking up some convergence. Is CoC any good and also do you have any tips for playing it?

CoC is strong. Especially in theme. Destruction Initiative is up there with the best theme forces out there. Basically any caster works fine except for Aurora.

I think that was evident back in MK2 that the majority of factions were having issues internally.

For Trolls, Madrak and Doomshaper were having issues with one another over how they were to achieve a place in the world for their people going foward.

For Cygnar it was the divide between the current rule and the adherents of the previous rule.

For Cryx, it was Terminus and Asphixious in conflict.

For Khador, I think they implied Empress Vanar felt threatened by Vlad's popularity in Umbrey.

For Skorne, I believe they implied Rasheth was planning to move against Makeda and has Zaadesh as someone loyal to him (nominally).

For the Circle, it was Krueger at odds with his fellow druids.

For the Protectorate, I believe Feorra was implied to be engaged in perfidy against the current Heirarch at the time.

For the Legion, it seemed that Kallus's creation had many of the Blighted Nyss questioning their role in the grand scheme of things.

Hey guys, starting my second army (going Convergence) and I need tips on what to get next for a decent 75 point list. Here's what I've got:

Iron Mother
Prime Axiom
Transfinite Emergence Projector
Cipher/Monitor/Inverter kit (not built)
Galvanizer
Algorithmic Dispersion Optifex
Reductors
Reciprocators

I'm not looking to build strictly off of what I have so I'm okay with replacing some of it, but I'd rather not start completely from scratch. Thoughts?
>>
>>53854239
New version is coming out in October. No real details yet other than some basic army construction stuff.

20\25 point lists
Played on 30x30 table
10+ pieces of terrain
Alternating model interactions
You can customize the leader in charge of your band with cards that do different things
Uses core Warmahordes rules with some tweaks
Can't take heavies or battlegroup models (so no junior Warcasters)
Can marshal light jacks and beasts
>>

While it hasn't been announced, one of the interesting things from the Retribution command book is that the Nyss Refugees aren't resettling in their old city. They are instead wandering the wild parts of Ios, keeping to their traditions.

It sounds like they are setting up the Nyss to be a mini faction, and I hope they go full Cephalyx with them. It would be doubly hilarious if Saeryn/Rhyas make the jump to Retribution, just for the absolute mountains of salt from Legion groups.

I saw all the complaining about Goreshade4, and Goreshade4 isn't even that good.
>>
>>53860930
>It would be doubly hilarious if Saeryn/Rhyas make the jump to Retribution, just for the absolute mountains of salt from Legion groups.

I thought about this the moment I saw how fucking saltfrenzied Cryxfags got over Ret receiving a mediocre version of one of their casters.

Speaking of which, I really hope PP does a CID for warcasters that aren't quite up to par. Just looking at 4shade is a weird experience because it seems so obvious where they've fucked up with him (i.e. his feat is hot garbage and there's literally no reason to have Backlash on his sheet. Revive is also sort of shitty in Ret).
>>
>>53860930
>Goreshade4 isn't even that good.

>>
>>53861105
On spoiler day, I misread his feat as triggering at the end of enemy movement.
I was excited for a whole fifteen seconds.
>>
>>53861106
He's not though.

If he dropped in Cryx they'd just whine about him being underpowered like they do with everything that isn't gamebreakingly OP.
>>
>>53861128
This is what his feat should be.

Swap Backlash out for Mortality or something and bam, he's a good B tier warcaster, not overpowered but not underpowered. He can keep Revive but only if the faction is actually going to get some releases that make it useful.
>>
>>53854316

>You can customize the leader in charge of your band with cards that do different things

That doesn't really sound like it's going to allow much customisation sadly if it's only the leader and card-based.
>>
>>53860930
>It sounds like they are setting up the Nyss to be a mini faction

Would they be warcasters or warlocks do you think? I could see them bonding with winter beasts/elementals more easily than most warjacks.
>>
>>53861356
I'd like to see them to swap out Backlash for something like Frost Hammer and Revive something else unless they could give him Reclaim (which would be flavorful). Basically he has one theme too many (anti-magic, ice, and calling back to Goreshade) and I think this could be trimmed down to two themes. His kit is pretty confused. Easiest fix is giving him Reclaim and swapping out Backlash for something like Frost Hammer or Icy Grip or replace Revive and Backlash with those two spells.
>>
>>53854252
If you want to play mother you probably won't use the tep outside of adr (but it's a good thing to have two of). You should invest in assimilators, a shitload of servos, and possibly another PA.

But if you want to get the most use out of your stuff for the least $$$, buy syntherion he can fails most of your stuff.

Magnetize the heavy kit, but if your lazy inverters are used the most.

Also until new theme in August don't bother buying infantry other than servitor units.
>>
>>53861321
The video was meant to imply that the Cryxwhining about Gore4 is simply a result of other people getting something that used to be exclusively "theirs".
It's like consolefags getting angry that some exclusive game gets ported to other consoles so more people can enjoy it.
>>
>>53861356

Goreshade4's feat being underwhelming doesn't bother me much. Does Vyros2 have a feat really?

But if you're going to redo Goreshade4:
- Him getting Reclaim would make him having Revive make so much more goddamn sense, especially since there's not that much in Ret worth reviving. They had to invent a character unit with Grunts (even though they're named in the book) just to give him something to Revive.
- Drop Backlash for Mortality. If you're going with the whole 'life' theme, that's a fun one that would play better into hordes (fun point: makes precision strike worth more, because you can actually have a system out on beasts. Seen too many times a key beast have 3 boxes left, get healed for 1 in each, then go.)
- Drop Mage Sight for Banishing Ward. This would execute his theme of being 'anti-magic' better, and Banishing Ward isn't a bad spell if you need your jacks other places. Goreshade4 isn't a jack caster (that's Vyros' thing, really).

If you do those 3 things, I think Goreshade4's kit will at least point in the same goddamn direction, which is my pet peeve with a lot of that stuff.

Like seriously, a lot of casters in Ret are confused right now. My personal pet peeve is Kaelyssa, just because her kit could be her gun, and Phantom Hunter, and she would be about as effective as she is right now. Push her in one goddamn direction, and execute on that:

- Drop Backlash for Affliction. Backlash is never cast, just get over it PP. Give casters stuff they would actually use.
- Drop Banishing Ward for Occultation. Her feat already does this army wide, so her getting it would make more sense here.
- Drop Blur for Sure Foot. Mage Hunters are always shown as nimble in combat, so this is somewhere that could give her or a unit a defense buff, but would allow her to put on things other than just units that shoot.

I'm not saying Kaelyssa is unplayable. I'm tired of just looking at goddamn Ret casters and seeing empty space. Pick one thing and do it well!

Yeah, my hopes was something like Mordhiem, where you get some baseline models and they develop in skill/power as it goes along.

Harkevich1_75 (2).png
187KB, 409x731px
How is this for a Harkevich list?

Also, is the War Dog needed anymore?
>>
>>53868763
1.) Kodiaks. Harkevich wants Kodiaks, because he can hide his entire arny behind three of them and reposition them back to safety.

1b) The Decimator is a terrible jack. It's really bad, you are always better of picking a cheaper jack into that slot instead. The only real use for Decimators are Assassination casters, like Sorscha1, Strakhov1 or OldWitch1, because they might need to bounce an enemy model out of the charge/run lane.

2.) Manhunters are bad, unless you are playing the full Yuri package or Vlad2 or something. Take the free Dog over it. Or make the Marksman free. Even the Mechanic officer will usually do more work than a single manhunter.

3.)Yes, Dog is still good. With Dog and b2b Jack, Harkevich goes to 18/18 in melee, with immunity to backstrikes and knockdown, meaning he is really hard to assassinate without Telekinesis or slams or similar things.
>>
>>53869177

>Decimator

I was going for all ranged Warjacks. I heard that's what Harkevich does best with.

Otherwise, why take him over Karchev?
>>
>>53869313
Broadside is what we call a "trap". Karchev excels at making his jacks hit super hard, Harkevich makes them mobile and tough to kill.

They both work better with melee, but I personally think running a Destroyer or two (or Black Ivan) is fine for both.

Some random Skorne player responded and said well yeah...but....

Use your brain man
>>
>>53875407
>They're a business and they exist to sell you models.
>Of course they want to sell you new models
There's a disconnection here I feel. Why would a company want to sell new models when it could push to sell more of its existing models? You save on the usually rather heavy R&D costs by doing this too. Not to mention you don't run the risk of accidentally unbalancing your game and pissing people off if you focus on your existing models.

Again I'll reiterate; you don't need to produce new models to sell models to people that they don't already own.

Is Ios worried at all about provoking a war with the Iron Kingdoms over the Retribution's actions?

Likewise, how is it the Skorne maintain their foot hold in Ios's mountains bordering the deserts and badlands of Immoren and the gate they took down originally?
>>
>>53863145
>My personal pet peeve is Kaelyssa, just because her kit could be her gun, and Phantom Hunter, and she would be about as effective as she is right now.

Today I learned that Blur, Banishing Ward, and (especially) Refuge are all bad.

>>
>>53879621

According to what I heard, there was going to be a novel about how Goreshade4 oversaw the effort that kicked Skorne out of Ios entirely.

As far as the Retribution and the official government of Ios, its in a weird spot right now. Retribution's biggest interaction with the Iron Kingdoms has been reclaiming Nyssor's tomb specifically, and Khador is probably too busy with other stuff to really care.

Retribution seems similar to Legion in that they haven't really had that much of an impact. the Mage Hunters roam far and wide killing magic users, but that's more secretive. The elves of Ios have officially retreated and cut diplomatic ties with all the major nations.

What's going to be interesting is if they expand the Nyss into their own sub faction, what's going to be done about Legion. Saeryn and Rhyas coming over starts the idea of what about the rest of the blighted elves?

Fuck... I just thought of something:
- The Mage Hunters generally roam far and wide. It would be damn interesting if for the Mage Hunter Theme force Eiryss3 attached to a list of merc units, and those now counted as mage hunters
- Similar idea with the Nyss theme eventually. You get to pick one blighted Nyss unit and they have been 'liberated'.

Those would be fun & fluffy ideas for themes that aren't just 'here's free shit'.
>>
>>53858660
I thought all NQs are digitally archived in PP's site?
>>
>>53860930
>It would be doubly hilarious if Saeryn/Rhyas make the jump to Retribution

Man, as someone who loves Saeryn and Rhyas but has always been kind of skeezed out by Everblight's mind controlled waifu harem, I'd go nuts for this if it actually happened.
>>
Is there any reason at all to go through the effort of magnetizing the plastic Convergence colossal so I can swap between Axiom and Conflux? Ignore that man. Kae-Fresh is a much improved caster over her Mk2 incarnation, even if the loss of Witch Hound is a bit of a bummer. I'll take it for her better overall kit.
>>
>>53880840
As a mainline Legion player, I'd be fine with it. Fluffwise it would take some doing, but Saeryn giving Everblight the mental cold shoulder for two years and not dying is more impressive to me than her figuring out how to work a Myrmidon ever would be. Besides, Everblight needs something to shake him down from his high horse and he just got totally free from basically his worst enemies on the continent.
>>
>>53881353
Now with 15% less shitposting: I do feel like Ios is in that odd state that 40k Eldar share, in that they're an ancient civilization with elite troops and high tech, but apparently doomed to setting-driven extinction. Throwing them a bone is a great way to mix things up, but at some point people might start noticing the contrast between their predicted demise and absurd success in the fluff and/or tabletop.

On the other hand, more variety for the elves is aesthetically cool and makes sense for a species closing ranks. And I personally enjoy seeing the big bad villain factions with dire "end/take over the world" plots eat shit every now and then.

I guess it assumes that you use some further colors to do additional highlighting and stuff. Or it's because the stuio paint scheme has slightly shifted since the original release of the paint pack. I'd say grab some light brown ink (some sepia maybe?) and some white primer and you should be set to paint them regardlessly. You don't have to use the exact colors in a guide.

Just a friendly word new anon. If you've never painted miniatures before you're going to end up with a lot more paints. Like a metric fuck load if you get really into it (I've got like a 100+ on my hobby desk).

You can do a pretty basic paint scheme with the starter paint set but expect to want more in the future.

>>53881967
Well the only decline in the elves so far is the rise in soulless. Honestly the biggest detriment to Ios is the rise of the rest of iron kingdoms. If Khador Cygnar or even the Protetorate wanted to they could individually try and invade and while they would lose alot of troops the attrition rate would put victory in their favor. Honeslty if not for world bending circumstances Skorne was set to overrun all of Ios. Makes you wonder what will happen once the rest of seting figures out what the Retribution is really about.
>>
>>53883036
Man, looking at Feora 1, 2, and 3 makes me pretty sad. I don't even play Protectorate but I feel like there's a huge missed opportunity with her various versions. Thankfully CID appears to be going along smoothly so hopefully she'll get an update
>>
>>53883458
Khador and Cygnar both have military populations that are approximately the size of the Iosan population as a whole (nevermind the military capable).
>>
>>53883458
No one would invade Ios for the same reason no one would invade Rhul: It would be too fucking costly.

Much better to pick on weaklings like Llael and Ord, or pass the Thornwood around for a few years. Also Protectorate explicitly does not give a shit about elves, and would probably be in favor of their anti-human magic policy until one of less tactful Retribution members (probably Rahn) heretically points out that Menite warcasters and priests still count as human arcanists even if their powers come from a god.

>>

Spam makes for an unhealthy game as it turns list picking into an unsatisfying coinflip half of the time. I once rolled up to my LGS for a game with Karchev. My opponent wanted to play Mordikaar but said he may as well not bother and played Rasheth instead.
>>
>>53885683

>>
>>53885707

>>
>>53881967
The doom of Ios doesn't really seem as inevitable as the doom of the Eldar.

The Iron Kingdoms isn't the same kind of setting as 40K. It's nowhere near as grimdark. Immoren is the kind of place where heroes really do turn up and make a difference, and it seems like the elves have a legit chance of saving themselves.

The problem I have Retribution's fluff is that they can either be unimportant or insanely successful. The elves can't believably fight the insane wars of attrition the other factions engage in. This is why PP is tentative of dragging Ios into open war with too many other powers - for them to keep going as a faction, they'd need to have an insane winrate in the fluff. Which is kinda canon, the elves are meant to be extremely elite and have tech the other nations don't really deal with on a regular basis, but not to the extent it would need to be.
>>
As someone who hasn't played in about 1 1/2 - 2 years, how much have I missed. Trollblood player if it matters.

>>

I see the whole "Iosan Gods dying" schtick as the elves going from high elves to soulless dark elves.

Long lived, emotionless creatures that don't feel a thing when they carve you up just to look at your insides.
>>
>>53886112
But will they become lewder?
>>
>>53886098
Well there is a new edition. Bad news is Trollbloods are easily the weakest faction right now. Good news is that might change soon in CID.
>>
>>53886112
It's not really the same.

Soulless elves have no ambitions or desires of their own, for one thing. They just do random shit or wait for people to tell them stuff.
>>
Also Good News about "Company of Iron":

You can customize your leader (And possibly some of your crew as well) with the custom cards.

Examples included giving them Jack Marshall, Extra boxes, Unyielding.

Scenarios will actually be scenario based. Like "Disable the Bomb" or "Rescue the Hostage".
>>
>>53886836
So it's basically X-wing levels of customization with the cards?

>Is Ios worried at all about provoking a war with the Iron Kingdoms over the Retribution's actions?

They should be, but they aren't. Revanchist religious triumphalism, yo.

>Likewise, how is it the Skorne maintain their foot hold in Ios's mountains bordering the deserts and badlands of Immoren and the gate they took down originally?

If I had to guess, I'd say it has to do with what happened to Skorne being they instantly lost their ability to project force. The Gate was probably a gods damned supply dump. Troops that rally around and hole up on top of a supply dump tend to do well.

Either that or they're losing, but *very slowly*. An unsupplied tenacious defense in broken terrain goes down a lot slower than an unsupplied collapsed offensive in open terrain under aggressive counterattack.

>>53886856

Getting information from Facebook, as well as the Primecast 45, I have gathered all information possible about Company of iron
Its a smaller scale 20 or so Point battle where nothing with a large base is allowed. PERIOD.
Stats will be almost identical to Warmachine Stats. Some changes will happen.
Its played on a rumble mat and the focus is on the skirmish between smaller scale forces (Possible to do with even as low as 4 Dudez).
Instead of activating Units, Models will activate turn by turn like solos.
Because of its Solo Nature and the fact that units can end up separated, most abilities that grant effects to models will use CMD as a passive granter of that ability instead of requiring models be in formation.
The game is about scenarios. As in actual real ones. Not "Plant your ass in the grass and wait for 5 turns to pass".
Stuff like "One side has to deliver a bomb, and the other side has to either disable the bomb or destroy the carriers".
CUSTOMIZATION! DO IT! Customization Cards will allow you to create custom Leaders. And that includes your own! An example was stuff like making them a field leader (Unyielding), Give extra boxes, Make them (And other guys) Jack Marshals! Edit: Its also possibly Custom Unit?
Instead of Jack Marshals, Hordes will Have Beastwardens. Like Jack Marshals for Beasts!
Will have a health chart thing instead of instant knockout.
Everybody gets a hand of command cards that you get. Each command card can either be used for a passive round wise ability (Like ignoring Target in melee def bonuses for guys in range) or for a quick instant boost for one model.
Command card hand sized is actually changed depending on what models you bring. Some will grant larger hand sizes the other smaller ones.
WAY more terrain. Like instead of 6-8, its 8-10 with a much larger focus on outright obstructions and HARD limiters
Mercs/ minions are a faction. No dipping into Minions/ Mercs. Congrats Mercsers.
FA 1 EVERYTHING.

>>
>>53883522
>>53887762
Rahn is one of the less fervent Ret warcasters, he legitimately doesn't even believe that human sorcery is hurting Scyrah and is only in it so he can show off how badass Shyeel's myrmidons are.

I could see him doing this just to be a dick though. He seems like a HUGE asshole.

Alternatively, I would fucking love a tweest where, surprise surprise, it turns out Thamar and Morrow and the Gift have almost nothing to do with the Rivening, and in actual fact Menoth attacked the weakened elvish gods, because he needed their power after having spent almost a millennia rapidly losing followers and being somehow blocked from influencing Caen by the Orgoth.
>>
>>53888348

They also pretty specifically stated their looking for actual model conversions and modifications.

Could work pretty well with the cards offered.

For instance the Jack Marshal one Made the leader a Jack Marshal, Granted 5 Boxes (I think), repair, and 2 other people in the army either got repair as well or Jack Marshal.

So you could make a custom little Platoon that are Combo Mage Hunters and Mechanics. And run a light jack that they customized to store and carry tools.

I don't know man. I suppose that MOWs of different kinds will sort out the issue for Khador. Don't think that MOWs quite compare to a jack though. Hard to say.

If they support this game properly though I think it has a lot of room to really take off. Being able to make a small custom team of any kind in Khador would be so awesome. Greylords & co like Fel Twelve on some mission to recover an artifact, some Widowmaker stealth teams or AKs out to assassinate or kidnap someone, bunch of Winter Guards trying to hold an ammo cache. Endless possibilities. Finally a chance to use some of those more obscure character solos no one bothers with, like Yuri the Axe.

How costly was the Iosan invasion for the Skorne exactly?

I noticed they trounced through Ios and likely would have dealt worse harm to the nation had their supply lines held up.

I also don't really recall it making a dent in Makeda's forces over all unless that's covered in writing somewhere.

I think the Skorne even kept that gate they took and still have a foot hold in the Iosan mountains, along with plenty of Iosan slaves.
>>
>>53894415
They lost a moderate portion of thier population, and a significant amount of morale in the short term. The actual consequences will probably not be felt yet until the future. All that had happened now is that the Retribution is key to basically direct Iosian policy in dealing with the rest of the world. Though you never know what Skorne will make with all the knowledge and resources they captured from Ios.

I mean, the Mauler, the Blitzer and the Bomber are all Dire Trolls. But the Mauler has hair and is super strong, while the Blitzer and Bomber are just beasts with weapons strapped on top of them.

I don't get it, are Bombers just Maulers with different training or are they "bred" to throw bombs? How the fuck would that even work?
>>
>>53895349
>couldn't they just craft Constructs of stone that have the same capabilities as Warjacks do?
>Like Hakaar the Destroyer, only larger.
The thing about the Exalted is that it requires a special stone capable of holding a soul to create them. The stones are incredibly rare, so very few people earn the right to actually have it done. They couldn't create golems even if they wanted to.

What they COULD do is research more into the shit Mordikaar was doing with souls. I mean, Void Spirits are just angry insane souls that he drew into this world and bound into service. I'm pretty sure in the fluff it says he taught some others to do it. The only issue is that the Skorne revere their ancestors, and Void Spirits are basically the souls of their ancestors being tortured and angry as fuck. They're walking heresy. Mordikaar could get away with it because his research could've been the salvation of the empire so Makeda didn't give a shit, but to start doing it casually would undermine the entire Exaltation process and thus undermine the reason why Skorne soldiers fight so tenaciously.
>>
>>53895349
Oh man if studying iosan jacks are why skorne decide to start making construct beasts that will be such a fluff win
>>
>>53894415
The lost a LOT of troops smashing their heads against the wall of their border fortresses before Mammoth ex Machina happened.

I don't know about how many slaves they managed to keep either. They were forced out of Ios extremely quickly, and I'm not sure PP feels it can just give away large portion of Ios' population and still have them seem viable as a faction. Annoying, we don't really know the situation with Skorne or how it all went down, due to the timeskip and how PP treats all non Cygnar/Khador/Cryx fluff as side shit that they fill in later. All we really know is the tide turn incredibly quickly after Goreshade emerged from Shyrr.

I thought the Kovass were Heresy and that the Void Spirits were okay (if disturbing and unnatural in idea) because they could actually be found in the Skorne wilds (albeit not in abundance) and there is no law saying you can't summon, unleash or bend one to your will?

Also, are the cannibal Skorne found roaming the deserts technically undead and if so, is their soul still inhabiting them?
>>
>>53895557

Even if they didn't keep their slaves, would they actually let any of them live upon retreat?

It seems like they'd be more likely to turn the Cyclopses and Basilisks loose on them first in an act of spite perhaps or use them to cover their retreat.
>>
>>53895648
Kovaas are certainly heresy, as is Zaal2. Literal walking heresy. Zaal has commit so much heresy at this point that it's hard to see what he has left to do. If he wasn't so useful/powerful he'd have been dead a long time ago. Void Spirits may not directly be a Skorne soul but at the same time it still undermines that we should honour the dead.

And cannibal Skorne? I've never heard that before. You don't mean Nihilators do you? They're the only desert Skorne I know of.
>>
>>53895727

Zaal putting himself in a sacral stone is not heresy. It's definitely an abuse of power but it's not heresy.
>>
>>53895404
All of them are Dire Trolls
Bombers are particularly clever dire trolls who have been trained
>>
>>53895755
You're supposed to earn your Exaltation, not give it to yourself just because you can and you're scared of dying. He's made a mockery of everything the Skorne army strives for. If I was in Makeda's shoes I'd consider him worthy of the death penalty, except now that he's technically Exalted you can't really just go kill him because you're supposed to honour him. She should just give him the Hexeris/Rasheth treatment and keep sending him to dangerous places in the hope that he gets killed.
>>
>>53894099
For the battlebox? Dont be afraid of sacrificing shredders to tie up models for a turn or two.
>>
>>53895813

Non martial Skorne have been known to become worthy of exaltation. It's rare, but it does happen. The scholar who invented the Skorne alphabet was put in a sacral stone for his contribution to Skorne culture.

Ultimately Zaal is the highest authority when it comes down to determining who is worthy of exaltation or not. No one can challenge him on these matters without heavy consequences and Makeda knows this.

So again, it's definitely an abuse of his power, but it's decidedly not heresy.
>>
>>53895926
Morghoul would disagree I'm sure.
>>
>>53895813

He's got decent argument in that he really did go down at the high-water mark of the Skorne invasion, taking a shivving for Xerxis. Busting heads with his old man cane, shredding souls, but for some reason not yelling at the mage hunters to get off his lawn.
>>
>>53895955
I suppose Xerxis earning Exaltation gives more credence to Zaal earning it. I mean without Zaal, Xerxis couldn't have achieved all the shit he did. Why the fuck is Xerxis only a Tyrant anyway? Nigger should be the Lordest of Lord Tyrants.

Kryssa's BB is ultimately about movement control and setting the rhythm of the game on your terms, not your opponent's. The Bolt Thrower and Tactical Supremacy let you play keep away with an enemy's force and engage with your Neraph when it is optimal. Or at least that's the idea. Shredders really only work as throwaway models to tie things up or as support to try and help the Neraph chew through high armor targets. Your models are made out of tissue paper so don't let your enemy engage on their terms if at all possible. Kryssa also has a janky but not-awful 16" assassination threat range if you've saved her feat until then, which can surprise unwary opponents (in general this is not a good use of her feat but if things are going poorly it's there for you).

Kryssa in general loves her character beast Azrael and loves a pile of Neraphs more than most in my experience. Some staple beasts to purchase for the faction beyond the BB ones are a Naga Nightlurker and Seraph.
>>
>>53894099
Additionally, utility purchases like Blighted Nyss Shepherds, the Blighted Nyss Sorceress on Hellion (if you end up liking the flying beasts and/or warlocks like Kryssa or Fyanna), and Forsaken are good initial purchases. The Black Frost Shard are probably one of our best utility units at the moment. If you plan on playing out of our themes (or theme, rather, as Oracles of Annihilation is quite good when set up correctly and the other two are pretty restrictive for marginal benefit) a unit or two of Hellmouths aren't a bad option either. They have less impact on the actual board than you might think but tilt so many people by existing that they basically function as psychological warfare units, and Legion can't do straight up fights and needs enemies to make mistakes for us to capitalize on, so they help that.

Don't expect anything in your army to survive being attacked head-on. Legion is not durable. Legion is a somewhat fiddly faction of glass cannon pieces and support that tries to leverage greater positioning ability and punish opponents for making mistakes. If that's not your preferred playstyle I would suggest looking into a different faction.
>>
So how would a Siege Animantarax modeled after Slave Beast Taka from the Contra series be?
>>
>>53897919
Probably modeled after the Slave Beast Taka.

Or are you talking rule wise? Because it would suck more ass because that boss was easy mode.
>>
>>53897950

I meant aesthetic wise as a cool conversion.

I'd hate to see the Skorne actually dredge up something like Taka from the deserts. They'd probably turn it into a giant agonizer or some other horrific weapon of war.

So I had a thought about the Dire Troll Blitzer today. Why does it (the Dire Troll) need to be forced for boosted attack rolls? It's not the one actually doing the shooting. My only idea is that it's the warlock forcing the Dire Troll to calm down and stand still so the Pyg can actually get a clean shot.
So that actually gave me an idea for a buff. What if it got some sort of extra bonus while aiming? I'm not saying flat out boosted attack rolls while aiming, but something.

Step 1: Augment warbeasts with myrmidon tech, Dr. Arkadius-style
Step 2: Adapt mortiheurgy to include the warcaster spark. This will probably involve teaching machines to feel pain and then torturing them profusely.
Step 3: Give venators real fucking guns, and give everybody who can afford it mekanical weapons
Step 4: Send some faggot to kill Severius (already completed, faggot in question probably got a cursory nod of approval)
Step 5: Wait for the Menothbowl to play out
Step 6: Invade the Protectorate, make sure to kill Feora and/or Kreoss
Optional Step: Drop a mammoth on the walls of Sul

Congratulations, Makeda is now the proud owner of her very own Iron Kingdom. Fuck you.

Actually, that plays into why they did it.

They tried Longriders for instance and just found they destroyed everything. Which is a legitimate fear.

Heavy Cav would destroy most infantry and crumple light jacks, and Light Cav would be super duper speedy for the Scenarios. With Stuff like reposition 5, they would run circles over opponents because of the heavy amounts of terrain.

I'm planning to run an IKRPG game for a new group set in occupied Llael, but I'm blanking on ideas.
the party will be a mix of llaelese resistance fighters, undercover cygnaran agents, and ordic mercs. they will be working towards weakening the khadoran occupation the region.
my initial idea was to do some cloak and dagger stuff at first, but then shit hits the fan, when a magical plague is unleashed and the city is placed under quarantine by the khadoran army.

I need plot hooks and ideas on how to run this kind of thing. been a couple years when I last DMed, so I'm a bit rusty.

Khadoran kayazy (merchants) are demanding unfair prices and scaring away competition by bringing gangsters with them. Time to start a gang war, perhaps even with the Khadoran authorities intervening.
>>
>>53903987
The magical plague is a bio-weapon, and the Khadorans are using quarantine camps to both test the effects of the plague, and research it's cure. As time goes on researchers begin dying to mysterious wolf attacks, and Blackclads appear offering to liberate the sick from the poor conditions the Khadorans are keeping them in. (but really they just want the plague to spread.)

that's good, I like it.
>Khadorans are using quarantine camps to both test the effects of the plague, and research it's cure
>Blackclads appear offering to liberate the sick

actually, I was thinking that the plague is the result of some radical higher-up in the resistance made a pact with the blackclads, with the intention of weakening the khadoran garrisons, but it backfired horribly, and it was started to spread among the locals.
but then of course, the blame could be shifted onto the khadorans, causing anti-khadoran feelings to flare up among the population that is sort-of became accepting their new place as part of Khador.

these guys will definitely see some screen time as tensions rise. assaulting resistance safe houses, and then when the plague runs rampant, burning piles of corpses on the street, and in the end becoming primary patrol units and torching anyone who is suspected to be infected.

however, I want to keep it morally ambiguous, and show that both sides has heroes and shitty people. I'm planning to have some radical resistance members firebombing a hospital that hosts sick khadoran soldiers, and hanging some local officials who are working with the khadoran administration.

the khadorans will also have their good guys, who are not affiliated with resistance elements, but are cleary working to eliminate the plague and help the population.

if anyone has ideas of these, I'd be grateful to hear them out.
>>
>>53904774
You have an interesting thing going here.

I recommend minimizing any warcasters or the like, in fact limiting the "Larger" military aspects until things get more intense.

Some people like deep difficult moral quandries. You can play Cygnar as the morally sparkling clean toast suckers that they are, or actually, give them a choice.

Maybe Cygnar would be better off just stealing the vaccines and destroying any Khador effort to make one, so that the plague ravages Khador and weakens them.

You can really play up the Blackclads as a very mysterious force working behind the scenes. Minimize their involvement. Have them be mysterious and your not sure whos doing it. Maybe they set up patsies with Thamarite Cults taking the blame.
>>
>>53904774
Wait I got an even better idea:

What if the ultimate target of this disease arent humans, but Dragons? The black clads are testing it against weaker flesh and the khadoran government accidentally stumbled apon it?
>>
>>53904865
>Maybe they set up patsies with Thamarite Cults taking the blame.

that's a good idea. I totally forgot about thamarites.

>Maybe Cygnar would be better off just stealing the vaccines and destroying any Khador effort to make one, so that the plague ravages Khador and weakens them.

I love this. I'm probably placing a cygnaran CRS handler in the city. if things get grim, he might give the cygnaran PCs the order, the Resistance be damned.

If a Warcaster/Warlock shows up at all, it should be the final boss. I would like it, if the fight was unreasonably hard (how the fuck do you beat a Juggernaut and a Decimator controlled by a trained warcaster in caster armor when your party is 4 random dudes?), but if the players pay attention during the journey, they can find tools, clues and information to make it beatable.

For example, IF the final boss was a Khadoran Warcaster with two Juggernaut-chassi heavy Warjacks, I would add certain things to the script:
- a sidequest or something that gives the party access to Rust bombs.
- a clue that one of the heavies apparently got damaged during the war and mechanics are issued to fix it. Kill the mechanics = weakened jack.
- the party can find an old laborjack or something and become jack marshals for it (isn't that a normal game mechanic for IKRPG?). If the party manages to scavenge and trade for the right parts and has the right knowledge/know people with the right knowledge, they can upgrade their shitty barrel-carrier jack with actual weapons.
- etc, those were just some ideas from the top of my head.
>>
>>53905134
(cont. - part 1)

so far I'm thinking of the following:

- one of the more radical resistance leaders makes a pact with a Circle druid to create a plague that would infect the khadoran garrison. he's going behind the backs of the other ring leaders for plausible deniability.

- the plague starts to spread among both the garrison and the local population. the plague has a couple-day incubation period before symptoms start showing, but carriers are still infectious during that time.

- players are sent to support the resistance effort in the city. they are going by rail, the train they take also transports medical supplies and materiel for the occupying army. some prominent NPCs are also present: doctors, military officers (maybe a khadoran warcaster as well), a kayazy mechant and his goons.
>>
>>53905143
(cont - part 2)

- if the players interact with the khadorans they might gather info about the sickness. they also have the option to make a good impression and even befriend some khadorans - genuinely or otherwise.

- the train is attacked by bandits trying to loot the supply wagons. the players are forced to fight them off alongside the few khadoran soldiers. there are chances to eliminate some khadoran NPCs in the midst of the resulting chaos. the surviving NPCs will influence the events in the city and will remember the PCs and their actions.

- at the train station the train is boarded by the winter guard as a routine check, along with medical personell to assess the health of the arrivals. PCs must present their documents.
if they play it cool, they are allowed to enter the city freely. if they cause trouble or act suspiciously, they are taken into custody.
if they made a good impression with the traveling khadorans, some of them may vouch for them.

- PCs are also informed that any use of magic, arcane or otherwise is regulated in the city, and magic users must register at the guard HQ. if they have a warcaster among them, his/her presence will be immediately obvious to the khadoran warcaster traveling on the same train.

- the players must find their contact to the Resistance.

- the plague situation starts to rapidly escalate forcing the khadorans to declare lockdown. noone can leave the city.
>>
>>53905141
yeah, there is definitely a warcaster in the city. the PCs won't necessarily fight him. if they're smart and don't directly antagonize the military, they won't have to.

some scenarios I was thinking of so far:
- the players arrive at their safe house, and there are notes from their resistance contact, a disenfranchised llaelese noble woman.
- what the players don't know that lady whatsherface has been dead for a while and a khadoran spy (prikaz operative) took her place. the notes in the safe house are from the dead woman and they have clues that the players can use to realize the switch.
- if the players don't suspect the switch, she will use them to uncover the resistance cells in the city.
- if the players confront her, she is revealed to be a greylord arcanist with considerable skill in combat magics.
>>
>>53905271
