I think everything but the veils themselves are okay.

DSP has put out 1 (One) veil after Akashic mysteries, which is in the April Fool's book. Despite the 'joke' book, it's an honestly solid veil -- Something I'd say that's higher powered than the other veils, but that's a good thing, since most veils aren't that great.

Overall, I'm still waiting for the 'Not!Pharaoh' that Gareth hinted at a few weeks ago. We might get new veils out of that, which should really help set the direction that Akashic Mysteries 2 (If we get it) will go.

All the talk about mythic games in the last almost makes me want to run a game where the players have to impress a cavalcade of gods with feats, ranging from making Asmodeus make a contract that is not in his favor, impressing Kurgess with a physical feat, impressing Nethys with a magical feat, creating something that is as beautiful or more so than Shellyn and so forth.

So I'm mulling over how to structure another interaction with the Corruption System that feels unique from the others. Thinking about maybe a way to give rage before overdosing on corruption, but doing so builds Corruption and pushes them towards unconsciousness. Maybe pair it with something like, they only gain half as much corruption from healing as humans do?

Akashic Mysteries is a significant improvement over Magic of Incarnum. The classes are solid and unique with cool perks and abilities. I think Guru is far and away the best of the three classes since it's got a lot of versatility, but it's more about its class features with its veil list serving a supporting function. Vizier has the most versatility but is much more reliant on the veils you choose. Picking a bad ser of veils can be a hindrance and its veilshifting ability doesn't allow you to rebind, so a few bad choices can leave you operating at lower power through the rest of the day. Daevic is kind of a Paladin or Su Barbarian type character. Its passions are narrow but very powerful, with Wrath being the meat grinder and Desire being the more tricky option. Dominion is more of a leader with sword and board abilities.

Akasha is about making pseudo-permament magic items, while alchemy is about making consumable magical items.

I don't know if I see the problem? He explained what they're doing and why they're doing it. Psionic focus feats seem like a decent model for a combat system. Are you Mehangel or Blade Wolf? It looked like he was just trying to get clear feedback and ask someone who was blowing up a bit to calm down. That thread is full of him making changes people asked for on the spot and explaining why he doesn't make some of the changes. It seems like he's trying to help and one or two people are personally offended when he doesn't jump through a hoop. I've never actually seen a dev spend that much time answering requests, explaining decisions, and adding things or making changes before.

I give them props for such an imaginative, creative concept. It's the original Red Maiden, but Isekai'd into Golarion, and given some pretty damn fun twists. The gestalt build is also gonna wreck face, what with Aegis being busted in terms of versatility and Host of Heroes being a badass archetype (though I admittedly have not read it in a few months so I might be wrong on that front)

The problem comes with the execution. Holy shit the execution. China fucking called, they want their wall back. It's long, drawn out, and I don't think this person has read Golarion's lore at all. Earth and Golarion are DIFFERENT planets, and there's been maybe a dozen or so people who have traveled from Golarion to Earth, and there's no mention of that stuff here. It's a complete lorebreak. Not in the "okay that's a minor quibble that can be excused" but in the "this does not fit with Golarion's timeline at all" And technically, they're NOT a native of Tian Xia, they're a native of "Earth"

It's a nebulous concept that seems to be the undercurrent of the Occult; the Occultist has a bond with their items that have bonds with everything else; a spiritualist has bonds with their spirit, A medium with their spirits (plural), Mesmerists focuses on establishing bonds (sometimes forcefully), and so on.

Akasha, as a power source, is a more primal thing. Rather than being connected to spirits or your implements, you're only source is you. (Yes, Daevas exist, but I don't really like their fluff either). Your life, your energies, your*self*. It's independent of others, and cannot be granted or given; only earned.

The fluff for Akasha is one half primal and one half-self improvement. You're accessing the raw power of your finite essence to create these veils that can be shaped in an infinite number of ways, limited only by your imagination. Your power isn't at the whim of some ghostly force that inhabits your consciousness, it's you. It's your failures, your successes, you scraping by the skin of your teeth. No divine guidance that shapes your path, no laws of magic that govern your rules, no spooky ghosts, no dude in with deer antlers. It's you.

To put in a different perspective, I like characters who would like Kurgess. The whole spooky backdrop doesn't really do it for me.

Not to say I won't party on with an occultist/spiritualist, it's just not my style to play. You keep rocking with your implements and I'll keep your back with my veils. We'll take on the world together.

I think it comes down to who you're working with. LE has usually been one of the easier alignments to work into good party in my experience, with NE being a decently close second (you can count on avarice!) and CE usually being the hardest.

And I'd give some warning to let the GM and other players know my grievances, so we could maybe work something out to make the current game better.
