While that would be amazing, no, just a tiefling. She's been wearing a big headcover/veil and using Disguise, but if people get curious she might have to take it off. However, she does have a magic item at the moment which lets her use Alter Self, and I wanted to know if it would be effective. Alter Self just flat out makes you a different race. It's a polymorph. If you're not using it to impersonate someone, it's practically impossible to tell unless someone's got magic to see it with. Even then, you could probably bluff it away as some powerup magic if you're good enough.

Alter Self is pretty short duration though, so bear that in mind. Disguise Self lasts longer if you're confident in your Illusion DCs.

Making characters is probably the biggest reason to choose Pathfinder over another system, for a lot of people it's their favourite part. We've reached the point where there're enough games here that a large chunk of that building community can't fit more into their schedule, but they still want to make the characters.

I'm not familiar with 2hu, but DHB's writing is held up high in the very first place so it's not really a great comparison.

The problem is this. Most R20 apps aren't actually "writing contests" in the way we do them. They want to know stuff about YOU as a person, and your playstyle. They look for someone who can MAKE a character that'll fit with their setting/group/story, rather than a character that fits it. Also, you seldom have as much setting info as most of our games do.

Wist's strength is that she takes silly meme ideas (literal bed, 'collectives lol', and dad memes) and then manages to ground them into a solid app that works on a level beyond the meme value.

They're fun to talk about because at their core they're memes, but they have the integrity to work long-term.

In the momsters revisited series, it is interesting that they take slaves, use slaves, but abuse or death of a slave is a much worse crime than theft or on occasion murder is. They hold cowardice in high esteem while being a warrior race, because survival>winning, unlike 90% of the other 'enemy races' that are warrior races who would rather die than lose, or the other coward races which would rather never fight at all. They are, as a race in Pf, not unreasonable; if you are scarier than they are, they will negotiate in good faith, up to a point, but they're definitely not likely to break their bond if you're still around or people as strong as you are stick around.

This is the thing that I've been struggling to put my finger on. His apps are always good, but just good not great. They always feel unfinished, like (and it pains me to say this because of the bullying that's been going on) NPCs waiting for the actual players to inform them of how their backstory should have gone.

Serena had a lot of potential, but was definitely plagued by having a very similar base to one of the 'god tier' apps. There are things Hecate could have done to differentiate her, but I think that would have dogged the character throughout the app process. Gaius is a good new start, but please keep at it instead of throwing in the towel too early.

I think Gaius is real solid already and has no actual problems. Writing is good, shows personality, backstory gives enough to work with without overstaying its welcome and the philosophy functions. Problem is that real solid might not keep up as more apps roll out. I'm part of the "best apps get picked" camp, and a lot of the time that means good apps lose because there are great ones.

Really not sure what to advise but there's got to be mileage to be drawn out over the remaining weeks. I think the player and character has good potential.

Perhaps what he needs is hooks actually. Gaius has goals and personality, but he might benefit from either having plans like C3 does, or relationships like Jericho.

Mentioning another shaker app for the sake of discussion, Rintaelle doesn't really have compelling hooks or relationships but she's extremely inviting for player character interactions. I can't think of a way for Gaius to do that without compromising his characterization, but it's an interesting strength for a character to have that I think more people should consider when building.
