Actually I'm on OPs side. It gets real fucking annoying when they show up so high they can barely function. I was willing to let is slide because I don't give a fuck, I get drunk on the reg.

But when you're just staring off into space and have to be reminded you're in combat I get angry

Unfortunately, there were 2 guys who would get way too high, much higher than everybody else. Just to lay onto the LSD thing, weekly session was meant to be off one day but suddenly was back on, I showed up on the tail end of a trip.

It made things pretty tolerable, way less boring than they might have been. My character had more than 3 mind effecting conditions driving them crazy and we were in some kind of mindbending hyperspatial maze, so I'm pretty confident that any unusual behaviour would have been appropriate given the circumstances.

Stoners though, I dunno. I don't think it's conducive to a good mindset for roleplaying, since the major occupational hazards I find groups I GM or play in suffer from is people not staying engaged and on task / meme'n way too hard over every little thing.

There are exceptions, of course. Even in just my circle of friends/family there are visible exceptions. One of my friends is significantly less of an asshole since he started smoking. Also my grandmother, who was once a serious badass but after a frankly baffling number of life-threatening strokes and a hardened and bitter battle against cancer has been reduced to that chick who 'has anxiety' any time anything even remotely stressful or social happens around her, somewhat returns to her old self when she smokes up.

That last one is a little poignant to me, personally. Not only for the obvious reasons of me wanting to see my grandmother as how I remember her from my childhood again. But also because we're a good christian family who (only occasionally dabbled) in the reefer before I came along. It was at my suggestion that grandma start spending her tiny SSI benefits on weed rather than on the battery of needlessly expensive 'organic' medications she insisted she needed.

I'll smoke up on occasion for holidays and things, but I wouldn't consider myself a proper stoner. So it was with great trepidation and some actual prayer (which I almost never do outside of a crisis, but Grandma's one of those 'old-time religion' sorts, so I figure it best to consult the Man upstairs when making a decision regarding her long-term health) that I finally decided to leverage the respect my family has for my education to suggest that grandma start smoking ganj.

It went against the grain of our family's general morals. But we all have a good relationship, and they trust my word a great deal more than most parents trust their children.

Though I stand by my decision; I know it was the right decision to switch grandma over to weed instead of her litany of self-medications. It still kind of eats me up inside that I used my influence to literally push drugs on my own family.
