Hey EDH. I'm thinking on what to build for my third deck and I was wondering:

Is it possible to build a decent Child of Alara deck on budget? I'm kind of a poorfag atm.

Also, what are some good budget decks you recommend?

Freyalise control. I've been brewing it for A G E S and while I feel like I've got the tools, like Freyalise's Winds and Ritual of Subdual, stax package and big draw, but it never seems to quite come together.

Anything mono colored.
As for a budget 5 color deck, the weakness will always be your mana.
You can make a really good manabase for cheap, but it will be slow.

You can also make a fast one, but it will be terribly inconsistent.|

Which deck do I work on next?

Feldon will be Feldon, fill up your graveyard with Rummage and some reanimation stuff.
Mayael will be a linear big creatures with ETBs, kinda more of a deck aimed at lower power play.
Samut, which is focused on infinite combat steps.

Also, does anybody know any good people for doing Alters? I'd really like a decent alter of Samut, doesn't even have to be anime or cheesecake.

pretty happy with how this turned out.

How bad were the printing issues with the early sets exactly? I have ordered a couple of legends and antiquities cards and it seems that the ratio of visibly off-center cards amongst them (enough to be considered "marked" even) is staggeringly high. Do I just have bad luck getting more quality copies or were they really just that hit and miss with the printing runs back in the day?

Not anymore with Anointed Procession. Nearly all token specific buffs are in White and there are plenty of Zombie token generators out there in Black so it *COULD* be done. Sure it doesn't work as well without Green, but that's not to say it couldn't be done.

I have a Yidris voltron deck that I am taking apart and MW was a part of the cascade subtheme. So I have about 60% of the parts I need. I just don't know how to abuse Cascade, cascade off an 8 drop. My first thought was 7 drop tribal. Then I saw some lists that boiled down to board wipes and jokulhaups. Which is amazing, but still unsatisfying. Temur goodstuff seems like a safe bet for testing it out. I don't know what to do.

What lists have you seen or played against that really made the most of cascade, cascade?

There's one white Devoid Eldrazi out there as well as several transforming Eldrazi from Eldritch Moon (though I doubt they'd appear in the deck, Wizards will probably make the Legendaries 5 color to leave the option open to include them).

This is, of course, assuming Eldrazi are one of the four.

Actually, now that I think of it, a potential 5 color Eldrazi legendary could actually come from Innistrad.

I feel like I should elaborate. I have some cards that like me having basic forests

>To a lesser extent Bane of Progress and Wave of Vitriol.
And also some nonland ramp already in place
>Sol Ring, Mana Vault, Mind Stone, Moss Diamond, Thran Dynamo, Worn Powerstone, Fyndhorn Elves, and sort of Freyalise herself

Right now, I've set aside my slots for 40 forests. But I feel like I could drop 5 for
>Thought Vessel, Coldsteel Heart, Magnifying Glass, Hedron Archive, and Dreamstone Hedron, possibly Mana Crypt if I can get a good deal or decide to drop mad dosh on this build
or
>Arcane Lighthouse, Reliquary Tower, Blighted Woodland, Myriad Landscape, and either Maze of Ith or Glacial Chasm to get some breathing room
or 10 forests for both, but I'm somewhat concerned about reducing the draw power of Rowen and the defensive capability of Lost in the Woods for what might be little gain, especially with the both package, since those cards want basics in my deck.

If you are only attacking 2 people at the same time, pick gahiji instead.
You get the same boost to power, and you get to add green.

Also if you need to alpha strike one person down with all your dudes you can do that without losing power. She is a very subpar choice unless you routinely play in 6+ player games (and in that case, you are a poor fucking bastard in the first place for trying any aggro strats)

Boon Reflection, while quaint, is completely out-competed by Alhammaret's Archive.
Thought Reflection is disgustingly expensive.
Rage Reflection is a simple enchantment, but has some use. At the same cost (but different mana balance) is the superior True Conviction, however.
As for Wound Reflection, it's just not as valuable as it looks.

I'm considering a Reaper King deck and play it solely as casual WUG deck, using the King himself as some rather expensive catchall removal and letting me use some hybrid cards that I normally wouldn't be able to. How bad of an idea is this? I'm only doing this since the only WUG commander I want is Angus, and he's $50+.

Actually, less common, since the Gods could be pre-release promos. The rarity of Invocations is about equal to foil mythics though, so otherwise they're about the same.

I like the Idea of Shu Yun voltron with a lot of cheap enchantments and cantrips that goes for the quick one-shots, but will it actually work? I'm not too enthusiastic about replacing him with Narset and bigger spells

Sheldon's banlist is more or less best for the format.

Trying to make a list for spikes is foolish for two reasons.
*1 That list would be 200 cards, then I, erm, spikes would find another broken interaction and then there would be 201, and so on.
*2 Having a long banlist encourages proof by exception. "look, this card isn't on the banlist. I'm entitled to abuse it."

Writing a banlist for people that want to break the format is like writing a cook book for people that want to intentionally make bad food. A malicious chef is going to ruin the food no matter what you do, so why bother writing for them?

Yes, sol ring mana crypt are better than most of the banned cards. Power level isn't the issue here and treating EDH like its ban list should have the same mentality as standard or modern is retarded.

I favor Aurelia. Cheaper than Gisela and she can start swinging right away if that's your plan (though Gisela could technically work as a weird R/W spellslinger commander with her ability if you wanna get creative). not really sure thats how it works. theres only 3 titans, they exist extradimensionally and interdimensionally. There could be a power vacuum where higher tier eldrazi take up power. This can be just a really strong eldrazi that wasnt killed during oath but not as strong as the titans (and shouldnt be lorewise).
Could have the 5c activated ability since the new eldrazi stole mana (right? or somehow they got colored mana). He could be some amalgamation

I'd cut the artifact lands in favor of more basics. The only synergy they have is with Tezzeret, and that's not worth their frailty. Also Terramorphic Expanse and Evolving Wilds should be in there.
Additionally, I might cut Arlinn and Xenagos. They need more creatures to function well, so maybe consider Chandra Flamecaller, either Kiora, or Sarkhan the Dragonspeaker as cheap alternatives

Wizards is a huge, unwieldy beast. It takes nearly two years for it to change directions and react to current occurrences. You have to hope they put it in one of the Commander decks or in Iconic Masters when they were being designed, way before the price spike happened, otherwise it has no chance of getting reprinted any time soon.

Considering they completely missed the Cat Lady combo, there's a pretty big chance they didn't notice the Vizier of Remedies/Devoted Druid interactions and so didn't predict or account for Devoted Druid's price spike at all.
