Whether it proves to be the dawn or an angler fish luring us in so it can eat us is yet to be seen.

They said in this very blog post that they'll be handling other stuff than class reveals for Starfinder next week, and they've already handled starships. They'll likely want to wait a while for the magic stuff, what with the Technomancer being delayed, so that means next week is either lore (which they've done a bunch of already) or equipment.
>>
>>53447368
Same as errybody else, really. Love, honor, and to protect those he cares for. I expect he will sometime fairly soon, Tier 5 in a party of initiators and casters and all.

>>

I feel like I wouldn't be able to get along with Protagonist as a DM even though I'm interested in the campaign. He seems too nice. I need DMs that'll tell me when to shut up or fuck off, because otherwise I'm going to keep pushing what I can do in a game.

Unless this is all an elaborate trap to make suffer the poor suckers that get in.
>>
>>53447440
Hold the fucking phone. Based on that last thing we saw with starships, there shouldn't be anything stopping a soldier with a fighter jet from being an ace pilot except stats. If there's any class that can accomplish gunnery, piloting, and maneuvering all in one, this is probably it.

So you can be a badass both in the air and on the ground.

>>
>>53447678
He's just really narrativistic. All the homebrew hes allowes has been allowed after an explanation of why they need those mechanics for the narratice they want to write, and he seems the type that would prefer sacrificing mechanical consistancy for narrative rather than forcing the other way around. He hasnt said so, but that kind of person tends to HATE highly optimised characters, and I doubt anyone who uses the slack character rules for that purpose will get into the game.

>>53447765
Anon, we're getting hyped at Starfinder's fighter class, what should be the most boring and generic class in the system.
>>
So there was a lot of shitposting about DHB last thread. What's his new character like? Apparently he changed a lot?
>>
>>53448033
Why do you want MORE shitposting about him? Haven't you caused enough suffering already?
>>
>>53447937
Or her husband's killer.
>>
>>53448033
It doesn't seem ready to be reviewed just yet. I'll take a look when he's done reconstructing his app.

>>53448063
What do you want to discuss here? Other Flower Court apps? Other /pfg/ games? Pathfinder?
>>
>>53448004
I know. It's fucking terrifying.

Maybe we're just so desensitized to other things having neat abilities, but the moment the particularly mundane class comes out of the woodwork and actually looks good, suddenly everybody is freaking out.
>>
>>53447765
Because a lot of people have just wanted to play a goddamn hero without needing to rely on finger waggling, reality raping magic in order to do anything useful. Magic users ever being anything other than villains was a mistake, and while Starfinder might not fix that entirely, at least it's making regular people competent enough to do stuff on their own merit.
>>
>>53448142
Hell, in some cases even better than the finger-wagglers. Somehow I doubt a technomancer would pilot a combat back even half as well as a soldier.

Maybe not, but they might enable a combat mech to transform into a space fighter jet for improved speed and maneuverability
>>
>>53448160
Agreed, the technomancer might have a couple of tricks but the soldier looks like they'll still pull ahead. Just so long as the spells that can usurp other classes or provide instant solutions to problems are removed, things should work out rather well.

I mean, they'll still have a place - no matter what happens, it'll be a rare soldier that can effectively and efficiently deal with a ghost, whereas spellcasters should be able to handle that no problem.

But it's good to have the soldier feel like the top dog.
>>
>>53448199
It's going to happen, anon. I guarantee it.

Med armor is kinda stupid. No one focuses on it. Either you're unarmored, wearing super light armor, or full plate.
>>
>>53448274
Ha! Glad to see someone else liked my pic on the filename thread.
>>
>>53448346
Medium Armor doesn't even functionally exist for most people, as most of the time you want "medium armor" it's considered light armor anyway (mithral lmao) so the designation is moot.
>>
>>53448339
Could be, and would make some degree of sense in a setting where more combat takes place at range and there are likely Strength augmenting armors to help you carry gear or make up for not being a mountain of barbarian muscle.

>>53448346
I imagine that the light armor is going to be your bullet proof vests, flak armor, and maybe lighter space suits. Heavy armor might start at full SWAT gear and go on up through various reinforced space suits to power armor?
>>
>>53448441
I suspect the distinction between heavy and light armor will primarily be one of rigidity.

Soft, relatively flexible armor (flak vests light space suits, possibly even SWAT equivalent gear) would fall into the light category, while heavy would be anything without flexibility; ceramic plating, metal, carbon-fiber hardsuits, and all the way up to power armor.

How much weight is reasonable to put on a wagon? Like, 1000 pounds should be the hard limit, or so? A light horse can supposedly carry 525lbs max and go 28 miles a day, so that sounds good to me. I just don't want to get into an argument with my DM over how much shit I can put in my wagon, so I wanna be well under a reasonable limit.

>>53448927
I don't really understand how only having one engineer on my ship affects this.
Don't get me wrong, I like the flavor of robot minions, and AI brain partners. It just doesn't fit into what my brain thinks of a standard Mechanic as.

It's like going for a sip of water only to find that it's vodka. That first sip is going to be an uncomfortable surprise, but vodka is nice to have too. Then you realize that all the water is vodka...

Piss drunk mechanic will likely be my first character for this game.

Old empire that dominated the continent fell to pieces a few years ago. One of the current kingdoms, Lote, is trying to promote consolidation in its wake. The King is trying to do what he can through diplomacy and presumably force and his sister (autistic dress princess) thinks she can make people want to join Lote by getting a bunch of impressive heroes to do impressive things. She's searching for strong ideals people can get behind and your application is addressed to her.

Necromancy usually doesn't have anything worthwhile unless you *really* want to create undead.

Enchantment is usually my go-to because I find mind control spells to be too dependent on a single save, and also because most of enchantment's buffs are sort of weaksauce compared to other schools.

Welp, my first take would be a character that thinks the problems that lead to the downfall of the empire come from people's unconscious adoration of the masculine. Pride in strength and power has created a culture that warred itself a part. There seems to be a disconnect here.

Teleportation is not 'moving', but 'relocating'

You can't move faster than the speed of light with teleporting because you're not 'moving'. You lack any sort of velocity. You're just changing where you are.

That's not how teleportation functions. It's explicitly defined as travel through the Astral plane, which has 1:1 correspondence to the material plane.

You have traversed zero distance - you've simply edited your coodinates. You haven't traversed the distance - you're simply changing where you are. My coodinates are (0, 0, 0), now they're (1, 1, 1). At no point was I anywhere between these two coodinates. I have no velocity.

That's where you're wrong. Timeless doesn't mean there is no time, it means that time doesn't flow relative to the outside world. You are still traveling a distance while on the Astral Plane, the exact same distance you would if you followed a straight line to your destination on the material.

In last week's session of our weekly Saturday game (Stjarnagardr), Ulfric and co. just defeated a Young Black Dragon who had been dwelling in a long buried temple.
Tomorrow's session will revolve around them coming home after defeating the Dragon, probably with its corpse in-tow, and give them a few days off after basically a three-day period of combating their way through cave tunnels.

I expect much comfy RP, and likely the introduction of a new PC as one player swaps out their old one.
>>
>>53452866
>>53452877
So our order of Operations will be:

>Warthog throws in Stun Grenade
>Spider and Snake shoot people with Taser rounds
>Mantis Badger punches what remains/ evacs the hostage
>>
>>53452850
>If Time is null, then how would you even define "faster?" How do you define motion, momentum, or any of the other things we *know* exist on the astral plane?
You uh
You do so relative to each other within the reference plane? Once you pop the fuck out you've changed locations but without time elsapsed. Time doesn't flow on the Astral plane relative to the outside world, it's disjointed. You have moved 0 distance on the Material Plane. This is the temporal version of Wormholes being FTL!!!! no they aren't, you have never moved locally faster than light, you simply took a shortcut - in this case, a temporal one.

That makes no sense. Besides, Rory and Vult are both manifestly more infamous.
>>
>>53452899
It's just the fact that the PLD group won't shut up about their game in the general that makes him seem more infamous than he is. The fact of the matter is there's probably only one or two people outside of PLD's membership that even gives half a shit about who he is.
>>
>>53452892
>You do so relative to each other within the reference plane?

So... let's say I want to use Interplanetary Teleport to travel somewhere 100 light years away. Am I on the Astral plane for 100 'years'?

If not, doesn't that mean I'm moving "faster" than light on the Astral Plane?

You're still thinking in terms of the Material, which is irrelevant to the conversation, since Teleport explicitly has no motion on the Material. You need to think in terms of the plane where motion does take place, which is the Astral.
>>
>>53452850
Teleportation does not incorporate any change of kinetic energy or velocity. Therefore, you are not going 'faster'

And the Astral Plane doesn't count. It's like how we only measure our velocity relative to the planet rather than the fuckstupid velocity that we ourselves are actually hurtling through space at.
>>
>>53452938
Memes aside, IKiD actually is a very fun person to play with, they're honest and know their shit.
>>
>>53452939
>So... let's say I want to use Interplanetary Teleport to travel somewhere 100 light years away. Am I on the Astral plane for 100 'years'?
Presumably that's exactly what you're doing. You're on the Astral Plane for 100 Astral Plane years or more, except this is irrelevant because of how the Astral Plane works - it is timeless, Time does not actually exist there, one second is the same as a thousand years. You can't measure your speed on the Astral plane relative to the fucking Material one because there's no relative speed of the two planes because time isn't consistent or even related between the two, physics doesn't work that way.

>You need to think in terms of the plane where motion does take place, which is the Astral.
Where Time is not a meaningful concept.
>>
>>53452897
There won't be anything, or anyone, let standing once we're done with a place.

>>53452898
That sounds more like a boss battle, or one of the Operators who stays cool under pressure and orders us around.
>>
>>53452977
>Where Time is not a meaningful concept.

Except it is.

>Timeless: On planes with this trait, time still passes, but the effects of time are diminished. How the timeless trait affects certain activities or conditions such as hunger, thirst, aging, the effects of poison, and healing varies from plane to plane. The danger of a timeless plane is that once an individual leaves such a plane for one where time flows normally, conditions such as hunger and aging occur retroactively. If a plane is timeless with respect to magic, any spell cast with a noninstantaneous duration is permanent until dispelled.

This is what the "Timeless" property actually means. It doesn't mean time ceases to exist, or that it doesn't flow relative to the Material.
>>
Are the player guides for the various campaigns in the trove, or do I have to look for those elsewhere?
>>
>>53453106
They're all free from Paizo if you just make a free account.
>>
>>53453068
>This is what the "Timeless" property actually means. It doesn't mean time ceases to exist, or that it doesn't flow relative to the Material.
On the Astral one specifically, it literally pauses time for all normal processes ergo it does not exist for those processes. The only logical way you could have moved that far since you only 'fall' at 300 ft / round, it says so right there.
Where does it say the Astral is one-to-one anyway? I know the Ethereal Plane is one-to-one, I'm not seeing shit on Astral 0 and if it is, you must indeed be moving normally within it for millions of "years" - maybe the part of Teleportation that needs refining is the part where you put yourself into Temporal Stasis for that time?
>>
Since Tome Smiter Magus is being posted, I might as well post my magus homebrew too. Let me know what you guys think.

Huh? I'm reading the book right now, and I don't see that anywhere. Citation needed?

What're you trying to accomplish with this?

What reason would anyone have to play this class?
>>
>>53453148
Isn't Space also really fucky in the Astral as well?

So you could be not moving faster than light just because you don't need to go as far in the Astral?
>>
>>53453148
>Huh? I'm reading the book right now, and I don't see that anywhere. Citation needed?
>Age, hunger, thirst, afflictions (such as diseases, curses, and poisons), and natural healing don’t function in the Astral Plane, though they resume functioning when the traveler leaves the Astral Plane.
They're literally on Pause mode. They don't come back 'all at once', they just stop for that period of time.

>or you're moving faster than light
Or you're moving normally, like what you'd expect of someone who just did a lesser Plane Shift and has no means of suddenly accelerating to levels that make CR 30s blink.
>>
>>53452899

iKiD is really annoying.

I kind of assume that Vult made them stop Glorianaposting as heavily as they usually do.

>>53452954

Go away Vult, nobody wants you here.
>>
>>53453173
That's what I'm asking. As I recall the Astral plane is basically a mess of wormholes to outer planes and to inner planes. Doesn't seem far fetched for Teleportation's normal casting time to be "okay let me Scry for the right wormhole to take two steps through"
>>
>>53452899
Wist is more infamous except she's missing the "im" part

Mea culpa, didn't realize you were referring to biological process, rather than all processes.

Huh? Magic is all about taking a massive shit on the laws of Physics and reality, why is this somehow beyond the pale?
>>
>>53453168
My thought process behind this archetype was to create an initiating magus. It would do this by replacing spellcasting with initiating, a "built-in shocking grasp", and animus powers. Not sure if I went overboard with the changes or not.

>>
>>53453203
There's nothing left of the Magus.

This is a completely separate class, one which has no real role, and whose class features are antithetical to one another.
>>
>>53453202
>Huh? Magic is all about taking a massive shit on the laws of Physics and reality, why is this somehow beyond the pale?
Because we have no reason to believe it is the case? Like why suddenly can you move as fast as the Black fucking Butterfly or even faster? Why can't you just move that fast here, on the material plane? Why wait for the Astral one to accelerate to infinity and beyond? Why do a Plane Shift? Occam's Razor.
>>
>>53453210

The whole point of PLD is that they're all Vult's submissives, both in and out of the game.

Haven't you heard all the repeated talk and rumors about coerced posting of logs?

Some of those players aren't even channers, why would they come here for the sole purpose of posting logs unless ordered?
>>
>>53453220
Then I clearly went too far with the changes.
>>
Has anyone ever actually met a Chainbinder? Like it's great for theorybuilding but has anyone actually had the balls to do it, whether it was you or in your presence?

>>
>>53453258

Honestly, whenever you design a class, an archetype, a feat, a spell, etc.

The most important questions to ask are "Who would play this, and why?" Having a strong vision of what your thing accomplishes mechanically and narratively makes every other facet of the design much, much easier.
>>
>>53453220
Not directed at this homebrew, I haven't even read it, but fuck, I haaaaaate archetypes that destroy a class identity. Even 1pp has gone way too far with some of this shit blurring stuff together, we don't need a witch-wizard-sorcerer or a cleric-rogue-ranger-rogue.
