Hey guys,
starting on the 6th page I've been teasing since before I even fucking finished the CYOA.
Anything in particular I should be sure to put on it?
So far all I have in mind is:
>Sebastian checking in with you one last time
>Explaining the exact rules for the war
>Listing the 2/3 mystery box options?

What do you guys think?
I'll throw the CYOA up because I keep getting asked to anyway.

What are the sections you have planned?
How many points are we taking into consideration?
Is it tiered for challenge levels or what?

Skillset menu is currently set for full kill, depending on your players you might want to include kill for me or sneaky kill, or peaceful diplomat caravan except not really haha kill builds, and of course actual vegan builds that kill using animals or don't kill at all. Maybe you have done these already, maybe the tone is less serious IDK.

If I have learned things about post apocalyptic wastes from watching Rimworldfags is that I want the option to take a maneater beast and train the shit out of it until its my maneater beast and had maneater children that killl for me. Be sure to include these alongside vehicles and shit.

What else... a few combos spoilered as usual because people seem to like secret boxes?
Lately everyone suggests slaves, minions, henchmen and companions, don't get swamped by this, introduce just a few and complete the list from suggestions, three threads in one weekend should be enuff.

Of course, options to go beep boop borg or mutant abomination.

Thanks. I noticed the bioweapon line cut-off just after I posted it.

As for the longbow; it's 2 more points than the crossbow, which seemed about right to me. Do you think I should reduce it? Maybe the crossbow should be a little cheaper as well?

Celestial God.
Magic, Wisdom, Offense, and Defense.
Health and Trading.
With any luck, such boons will be more than enough to get an edge over other civilizations. With my luck, I'll be a footnote in history under the Mythological Deities section in an obscure manuscript.
>>
>>53437329
I have a total of 10 sections planned:
>Setting,
>Character archetype,
>Abilities,
>Skills,
>Weapons,
>Vehicles,
>Equipment,
>Companions,
>Missions,
>Resolutions to missions.
So far I've done settings, archetypes and abilities (which I posted in previous C.Y.O.A. threads) plus the stuff I posted here.

Currently I plan to give the player 150 points to use, but I may change this if it turns out ot be too much or too little.

It is not currently tiered for different challenge levels.

I plan to make it so that there are different ways to resolve the missions, and most will have at least one peaceful way to do so.

As regards your desire for a killer pet; yes, one of the vehicles available is a mutant beast, which can be upgraded for combat, as well as the equipment list featuring an animal companion which can also be upgraded to a savage creature.

The resolutions to the missions will be spoilered.

The abilities section already contains options to play as a cyborg or mutant.

I don't like her very much, but I guess Penelope is the one with highest chance of giving you smart children.
Her parents were prodigies, and so was her, what indicates that big part of her inteligence is genetic and able to pass to next generations.
You are also supouse to be very smart, so I guess there's a fair chance of children with her being very smart too.

Are you actually planning on making a cyoa? Or just asking?
I don't think you can. You can't add a "sharpness" stat because maces are blunt weapons, and stats for the guns will not go well.

>>53438585
The entire point was for it to be a waifu thing, SDA even admitted that he wanted it to be lewder but couldn't settle on how he wanted it. No shit you shouldn't read waifu CYOAs if you don't want to fuck the girls.

No clue who you are. I looked at the responses to The Village CYOA.
>>
>>53439810
They're not. Reddit likes to (over)analyze where anon just blindly accepts.

Like that recent Genie cyoa. Anon just made waifus and went comfy. Reddit thought the premise was corrupt and they discussed how they would defeat the evil bureaucracy / Powers That Be who create, trap, or enslave genies.

Just a different way of looking at cyoas.
>>

There was a CYOA where you could make conception only possible with consent, and the poster could see nothing going wrong if it happened. Powerfagging isn't uncommon either, but they don't complain about bad choices much, usually, just try to break the CYOA.

Death Mark "Your fate sealed i come for you" - EX anti unit technique (15)

Marks the target as "destined for death" - revealing their ultimate point of death to the assassin, in essence it bends fate so that the encounter becomes their destined death: and as such induces a point of death that nullifies most forms of immortality (the point representing that persons very existence, upon which others are based) and allowing it to be used on beings normally immune; such as vampires during the night.

Ten Shadows Burial "A spark extinguished - and then the dark" - EX anti self technique (15)

passively causes the assassins strikes to possess a chance to induce the death of the victim - increasing the closer the target is to death (0% at full health and 100% at 50% health)

Additionally, by purifying the essence of his martial art into a single moment the assassin can achieve a speed of such magnitude that it is as if time is stopped for three seconds, allowing for simultaneous actions (any damage done during the time stop occurs simultaneously once it is ended)

The Cloak of Night "where one walks - many shadows fall" - A- anti self equipment

Cloak of shadows that grants the assassin Information Erasure B and Disengage A as well as the ability to summon shadow clones of himself to preform an action and teleport between shadows

however the effects of this NP is weakened by light, becoming night useless in open broad daylight

>>
>>53440155
Noble Phantasms:

-The Adamantine Aegis
"Break upon my body and tremble"
EX- rank Equipment (8)
The wearer is immune to NP of A+ and below, and is alerted of of stealthed enemies - breaks if the wearer acts in a dishonorable fashion (breaks an oath of his own volition, betrays his allies, cheats in a fair duel) . is innefective against atacks by those of pure noble intent.

-Valors Visage
"cowards bane"
D rank Equipment (helmet)- Anti Army (max targets 50) (2)
Forces target to attack the wearer with wild abandon

-Praetorium Pretium
"A reckoning beyond escape"
A rank Reality Marble - anti unit (10)
traps target in a open arena, the arena is inescapable and disables any NP's or abilities that call upon outside intervention (GoB, gates ofany sort, summoning . etc) and sources of imortality that are tied to the outside ( Phylacteries etc) and buffs from outside sources - effectivley preventing any assistance. the Reality Marble persists untill a fighter is dead.

-Gladius Iudicii
"burning light of the butcher"
A+ rank Weapon, Anti-Fortress (15)
Two handed greatsword of imposing size - it enhances the wielders strenght, endurance and agility. when wielded against a Villain it is engulfed with searing light, which increases accuracy and slows the target - making dodging harder.

An arbiter - a warrior of justice who tests the mettle of men

punishing the traitor, the coward and the monster and protecting the loyal and the pure - without caring what alignment they fall under.

Likes: eating, protecting, tests of strength, drinking, moral-fagging, romcoms
dislikes: traitors, cowards, sadists, the french, those of unearned status/achievement, horror movies

(the weakness of the aegis against the "pure of heart" - i.e those who fight for a pure cause such as pure love- is to represent that they have nothing to fear from judgement)

I have the spellcrafting mechanics conceptualized already. I'm loosely basing the structure of a spell off of the OSI Model in that there are different fundamental steps for a spell to go from the input of mana (measured in a fictional measurement which determines the spell's potency) to an output. I am treating mana as a flexible, programmable energy source that has roots in logic; I want to make this something akin to "The Science of Magic".

Basically you'll be selecting options for each layer of the spell creation process, like the channel (runic, thaumic, vedic, with some modification options) and the medium (size/scope, shape, etc) and the output (which will have another measurement, akin to mana-joules). Different channels offers different fundamental concepts, like how runic options focus on amplification, or how thaumic options are focused on the conversion of mana-amperes to other energy sources like heat or kinetic force.

And to balance with Spellcraft Theory, I'm also considering a Mana-Tech section that focuses on the same concept but through the programming of spells through mechanics and circuitry. Haven't figured this part out much yet other than that I'm probably going to let you choose on materials (conductors, resistors, etc) and maybe logic gates (simplified for the CYOA of course). I like the idea of people actually programming spells but he'll if that isn't a huge concept to create.

This might be one of my favorite CYOAs. It's so tear jerkingly comfy with a subtle of creepiness on how the world doesn't really seem to exist beyond the village. Let's roll.

>treating spells like programming
Huh. I was going to treat it like secondary structure of proteins: Both the magical words used for the spells AND the order/where the words are in relation to other words dictates the effect. Saying Air + Fire could mean a flamethrower, saying Fire + Air could mean creating smoke
I was pissed when I figured out I accidentally ripped off something I already knew about.
My system was just "here's 25 words, figure out yourself what the combinations do. Have fun". Decided not to use it for the cyoa anywho precisely because it's too big, and it won't be fun for me to invent a magic language for a cyoa just about making spells (plus I do not want to get bombarded with "please tell me what this combination does" questions).
Yours is far more focused on mechanics.

Dang now I started thinking about it more... It's the kind of thing that would be fun to think about, but making it is hell.
>>
>>53440816
Not sure how I feel about the more minor abilities (like be nimble, be quick) contributing to the "2 abilities" limit the same as major abilities (cyber-bits, secret mutation, psychic powers). Maybe you could separate them and have an exchange? Like 1 major ability=2 minor abilities?
>>
>>53441053
Anon if my math is right I would end up with 9*10^22 possible combinations (25 magic words, longest spell is 8 words). Keep in mind most of these would fail, or accidentally kill you e.g. 7xWind + Forward would result in a hurricane being formed around you and ripping you apart vs 3x Wind + Forward + 4x Wind would result in a small vortex formed in your hand that grows in size as it moves away from you.
The whole "cyoa" requires you to have a high degree of imagination which would be hard to inspire without simply making shitloads of example spells. Just describing the "alphabet of magic" would be dull, and not enough for the player.

>>53437493
With all the different options you have, I think you might need to give more than 150. Like 180.
>>
>>53441140
I'm basing it on programming, yes, but it conceptually works similarly to a "word" system you're describing. I'm just not stopping at the "word" and am going further down the fundamentals.

A "word" to me is like a script or a data unit that operates based on a protocol (which tells it how to interact with other "words" and between layers). These scripts are logical sequences that get the mana energy input to produce a result, which can be executed by your brain by harnessing your leylines to cast the spell. On the flip side, you can artificially recreate this with logic mana-circuits to make it easier to automate, like how the magitech heater in your home is just a continual loop of a simple spell that takes mana energy from a capacitor and outputs it to produce heat, which is one of the outputs possible using thaumic magic channels.

You can pick a "word" to form the spell into a medium that resembles a spherical object to be thrown, but that word was programmed by someone and is universally used, like a standard. I will probably give an option to allow spellcrafters to conceptualize their own medium, for example.

The fact the village is contained in there just adds a thick layer of creepy no matter which option you choose.

How did you get there? Where IS it? Is the village the only civilization that exists? How can it be so paradise like?

Really activates my almonds, this would make for a kickass story. Only ALL of the peculiarities are there and must be explored or understood to get the true end

I think this one does it a lot better than UU, though in the end it's all opinion and feeling, and no one can force you to feel creeped out. I think it kinda works like a more friendly version of something like Innsmouth where there's something subtly wrong and everyone else is more in on it than you. I wonder what the village is, is it hostile to me, does it desire me to stay, or is it completely apathetic?
>>
>>53442084
Not sure how to explain. I think it might be either something that appeals to you or it doesn't, but I'll try.

I just like the idea of a comfy day to day life in a quaint yet mystical village. Going to different shops and seeing what there is to see in the village. Slowly becoming a member of the community. Enjoying a stroll in nature, seeing the beautiful by strange phenomena like the galaxy lake or fairy grove. But as time passes you start noticing something just isn't right, and start delving into those mysteries.

I also agree village does it better. I like UU but it's kind of a different thing.

It's less that the village itself is a threat or apathetic and more the world around you just seems...off. Look at the limits.

All the roads, the walls, the end of the world. Those things are completely removed from reality we would expect. The village can be a paradise but it's still within the realms of reality. Those comfy great things exist.

Then why is everything at the edge of your vision off? The nature god and the shadow shapes....Where do they come from? What is their purpose? At this point it's not creepy, it's just curiosity, but then you dig deeper.

The monster girl wants to find others like her, but there are none. Why not?

Nothing seems to be hostile yet people don't go out and try interacting with the shadows or the mammoths. Is it just self preservation or do they know something you don't?

If anyone ever just gets bored of the village and wants to leave....They can't, it's all there is in the world. But if all there is is this single village why is the archive so huge?

The thing is, there is so much that's just wrong and there are so many questions but the village itself is some form of paradise. In a world of questions and dark murmurs in the caves....Why is the village and its inhabitants so calm?

It's not creepy in itself but it's a lot, a lot of mystery. There is much that is unknown and the unknown is scary by itself.

But what do I know anon. Maybe it's just a very small world like the world from The Petit Prince. It can also simply be just a little, comfy corner in the multiverse

Exactly. Why would it? It's just a wall. yet, there it is, it gives off a threatening presence. Why, what's behind it? What is it protecting....Or holding out against? Is the threatening feeling just the feeling you get because you're about to break some sacred rule not made by man or creature but by the world itself?

>>53442585

I was thinking more like purgatory. Or maybe an imperfect world that wasn't finished before its creator died or abandoned it. Maybe it's just a reflection of something.

Anyone remember how the world of the Other Mother in Coraline also started to become less real the farther you wandered?

Man, fuck. My favorite part of the CYOA was how incredibly, incredibly comfy it was aside the creepy part but now I'm in too deep. What have you bastards done.

In my imagination the monster girl is the result of a dalliance between the chief and the nature spirit. That's why she is the only one of her kind. Years later he learned of her lonely existence, and though he longs to meet her and give her a better life he is too ashamed to speak to her, feeling guilty for everything she's gone through. So when you, an outsider who doesn't have the same superstitions as the locals, appears, he shows you around. He goes out of his way to clue you into her existence, and with a strangely sorrowful expression on his face, he says "please... be kind to her", and gives no other explanation.

Not that guy, but I think it could be taken as more like, we don't know all the rules of our universe. Not even close. Science is still just sailing paperboats in the lake of knowledge. And this is a world where not only science but the supernatural exists as well.

It could just be a world living in another set of rules and ours has a destruction trigger just as real, but less apparent than a huge damn wall. Maybe our limit is successful production of dark matter, once we manage it it just starts eating away and everything goes to shit whereas in the village dark matter might just be what runs on the underworld caves or feeds the nature god or the shadows.

It's just an example. Point is, maybe our world is just as real as that as drawn by another pen.

>>53443531

But everything in any given system of life is a threat to something

If you kill everything that is a threat to humans, like say, bears or sharks you fuck up the ecosystems and it rounds back to bite you in the ass. And humans are a threat to each other very often.

You gotta think of the bigger picture. Also, by your own logic one day you'll be considered a threat by someone and they'll be justified in wiping you out if they can.

The important thing to remember is that the rich are not merely richer than you, they are several orders of magnitude richer than you. They literally have most of the wealth of humanity. Things that are obscenely expensive to normal humans, like houses, are close to free for them. They own television networks, not televisions. They can very nearly live wherever they want, while normal people have to worry about immigration.

The limits on what you can do when you're the 0.1% are largely the limits of human technology and social organization. You can't live forever— yet— and you're stuck with the same iPhone as everyone else, because designing and manufacturing one just for you is still beyond your means.

A more concrete example:

You want a submarine? Easy.

You want to assemble a team to build a custom, advanced submarine so you can descend to the deepest point in the ocean? Yeah, you can do that.

You want to go for a joyride on *military* submarine? Yup.

Buy your own Hawaiian island? It happened.

Rent Lichtenstein? No problem.
>>
>>53445197
>rent
Can they buy the planet as well as everything on it?
>>
>>53445252
Well, no. The very rich are still poor relative to the total economic output of humanity, and the wealthy governments really do operate on a different scale (although their actions mostly reflect the priorities of the rich). (This is a measurable phenomenon. It has a lot of bad effects—tax cuts and inflation are far more important to the rich than they are to everyone else, and government policy is disproportionately concerned with both—and some good ones—some rich people care about climate change, for example.)

It's interesting to contemplate the question of why the rich can't simply own everything. It doesn't have a well-established, obvious answer, as far as I can tell.

because if they owned everything then the poor would have no reason to take part in the money game anymore, which would effectively free them from it

That's sort of a problem for me, because I let the specifics of the technology and infrastructure largely to the player. By designing your corp you play a major role in what is and isn't possible in the setting.

I guess I will keep it to pet causes, special treatments and the like.

Wealth isn't actually zero sum.
If you are responsible for 50% of the world's transactions, you're aying other people with it, who are spending it on stuff you get a cut off so you can spend it again. So many times that the money goes through your hands as often as the hands of all other people combined. They still use money, but you own most of the non-money stuff.

most is not all, and making physical possessions priceless or whatever would run into the same problems

they pay you to live in your house
that money you use to pay them to maintain the house, but not as much as it costs for them to live in it, the rest of the money you pay them for giving you blowjobs
