Latest version of HoMM III CYOA. After a lot of experimenting I've started to understand how the layout.css works. Nothing new in terms of content but a major overhaul in layout for that HoMM a e s t h e t i c. Gonna take a break for couple days, then I'm going to start working on scenarios, appearance and units. I realized that would have changed the entire tone of the CYOA, from being a supersoldier mage fighting the aliums to waifuing your spirit-bonded scaly companion. Although you raise a fair point, I'm keen on exploring a work that does the idea of companionship well.

I'm taking my time with this upcoming magical student CYOA because I want it to reflect companionship more than my other works, either in a romantic sense or a true tutor-student sense. Trying to explore themes relating to your prestige and also in finding a way to make imposing that on your student a quality of the mood; for example, you could have served in the military for a few years and that might interest your student more than others would. And on the flip side, you might find comfort in their company because you're probably suffering from PTSD or something.

I took this Friday off for a super-long weekend (Monday is Victoria Day for us Leafs), so I think I'll bog down and hammer this out then. Most of it's planned at this point, it's just a matter of writing it up which I still think is the task I struggle with most.

6th sense drawback. Pocket sized things are for losers. Also survival drawback. A small decrease wont hurt with body powers.
6th sense level 2. Predicting actions sure helps you not die.

Endurance 1 and other body powers would help with previous drawbacks
Control 1 would help with the neck stiffness

Magic 3. Because of course I want magic.

Magic: Animator, Elemental Earth, Barrier, Fairy Commune. So I can control the earth, make golems, make super strong shields, and talk to animals and spirits. Sounds good.

Companions
Cerberus Pup and Ophelia. I can talk to the pup so I'm sure I can make it into a good pet. And I can easily outpower Ophelia. (So I'm sure I can make her into a good pet.)

Demonic Horde quest. I'm pretty good at punching things.

Plunge it into the ground to summon an unscaleable, moveable wall. Can keep back anything for as long as you need. Hold back the legions of hell, or even hold back the dead pushing on the veil. Sword can be used as a regular sword whenever tho.

Angel's Feather
Ultimate "get out of jail free" card. Releasing this feather after a battle revives all people with pure spirit, no matter how dead they were.

Haven't really had the pleasure of going through any CYOAs made in the past few months. I'm pretty much at school, work, or dead (working on my current projects).

As for reoccuring authors? I don't really know. To be honest, I've always been more of an author than a player, although I will tell you that a lot of my favourites are rooted in older ones, like Last Star and many smaller CYOAs (island/prison stuff, etc). Call it irony, I actually enjoy smaller CYOAs myself. I also really liked Divergent's Power Armour ones, though I don't really know what to think of the actual "games" that were born from it.

I wish there were more number-crunching CYOAs. They're hard to develop and are hellish to balance but I'm saddened by the lack of them.
