Well. I just had a funny game. It was me, playing a Roth deck, agaisnt an Animar, a Marrow Gnawer, and a Treva. Predictably, I ramped out and began to make a bunch of Saprolings with Rith while the Marrow Gnawer player did the same with Rat tokems. The Animar player then cast a clever impersonator on my Rith, and begins also making Saprolings at a decemt pace. Once the Marrow Gnawer player got out his Rings of Bright Hearth, he starts to accelerate really quickly and catches up to the two of us. This kept up, with neither of us able to kill eachother with out dieing to the crackback from the other player, accept the Treya player who did baisically nothing after getting mana screwed and the Marrow Gnawer player's Grave Pact stopped him from having creatures without denting me and Animar player. Eventually, after the three of us dig to find something, I hit my Createrhoof Behemoth.

Anyone else had an arms race like that?

Either way is escalation. Deckbuilding ideally in Commander should be a communal process where you mention what you're planning on adding in but that's not always the case for many metas. Showing up with a bunch of answers in your deck and making executing their gameplan more difficult can lead to them doing the same which causes the power level of the playgroup to rise. Some like that, others don't. Just be cognizant of it.

I mean, the basics are you load it full of dorks and elves to make mana and untap Selvala, ramp into T and N, bring out a few combo pieces, then go through your deck with Staff of Domination or Duskwatch Recruiter and infinite mana, play Concordant Crossroads, swing with everything.

Cool things include Phyrexian Dreadnought and Soulgorger - you can just let them die if you need to, they're there to get fat mana off Selvala. Wirewood Lodge, Umbral Mantle, Wirewood Symbiote, Cloudstone Curio, Quirion Ranger, Temur Sabertooth, Great Oak Guardian.

In Mono-G your only storm options are Sprouting Vines - and searching your deck for all your lands sure is fun, but if you're storming out then you already had infinite mana and you don't need the lands - and Hunting Pack, so Hunting Pack it is.

Answers are any cards you'd feel comfortable rolling up to a completely new playgroup with them in your deck. Hate is dedicated answers to a specific strategy someone else in your meta is employing.

You'd probably feel fine showing up to any given table with a Damnation in hand. You might feel a little silly walking into an unknown meta with Curse of Death's Hold if it turns out nobody has an abundance of X/1s.

The line gets a little blurry in some places though. People might feel like it's hate to pack a Vandalblast because they're using an Artifact synergy deck and you completely screwed them over with it, but you could also say you safely assumed the majority of people would be running some kind of artifacts, and that's basically a given.

Well yes, but unless you are able to get one of the two mono green mass haste outlets out you are just as vulnerable to hunting pack. Considering they are all permanents that can be blown up I wouldnt say it's worse than the other options. It's not tendrils of agony, but it's honestly as good as you are going to get for most storm options in EDH. It also requires a lower storm count than damn near every storm card if you are playing it in this format too.

Chaplain's certainly in there. What I like most about the new Sigarda as a commander is that her exile ability really helps keep cards in your hand. So many effects or creatures get a trigger just for humans, so you just empty the grave s few times each turn and sit on your emergency creatures while you wipe the field over and over. I play Prossh without Food Chain and it's ton of fun and even if you don't go infinite Ashnod's Altar is usually enough to kill someone assuming you have a haste ebabler or the table if you have Purphoros/Zulaport Cuthroat out. This is mad late but I'm the guy you were talking to. This doesn't go truly infinite because you're casting the same 2 spells per turn but you can only put 1 card on the bottom of your library per turn with Mistveil. It gives you 3 bonus turns, which is probably enough. You don't need to cast angel's grace the first time, but only doing what you described isn't truly infinite and you lose after your 3rd bonus turn.

...actually, wait, maybe you CAN go infinite with just a sunforger, a creature, enough mana, and a turned on mistveil plains. 1st turn you cast FF and Enlightened Tutor, 2nd turn you draw the sundial and go off.

If you don't feel like ironing them, you can also put them in a sleeve, put that into a book, then put something heavy on top of the book. Obviously, that's not going to be ideal for trying to unbend a large number of cards quickly though, so it may still be best to gently iron them.

I bought a Workshop for $300 a couple years ago and had it graded. It's a 9.0, and worth maybe at least four times that now.
Snapcasters I picked up for $10 each or pulled are $40.
I bought 4 LotVs for $16 each and they're around $70 now.

Stuff like that is good for soul.

I used to think that land destruction had no place in casual EDH... But now I realize I had a warped view of casual EDH. I used to think that cards like Sheoldred, Jitte, Ulamog, a few God enchantment creatures, etc all had no place in casual EDH.
Nowadays I realize that these things are fine for casual EDH, but with that realization I've also realized that Land Destruction should be fine as well. The truth is that if someone is playing mono red they not only can't take care of powerful enchantments but they have very few ways to take out creatures with over 7 toughness or indestructible creatures. So are you going to tell me that they should either A) get very lucky or B) willingly lose the game because they have no options?
No, neither of those choices are acceptable. The truth is that land destruction is the most powerful tool in Red's arsenal, not using it puts mono red players at a supreme disadvantage. If you feel like you're allowed to use supremely strong creatures "because they can be removed" or supremely strong enchantments "because they can be removed" then I feel that I'm allowed to use supremely strong land destruction "because you can run mana rocks".
And just as you say "Well you should run more removal!" I say "Well you should run more mana rocks!" and then you can say "Well I do but they aren't in my hand right now!" and I reply WITH THE EXACT SAME SENTIMENT towards removal.
So at the end of the day I say this; If the point of casual edh is still to win, which it obviously is if you're running $20 powerful praetors, then I'm going to do what I can to win, which is to keep you from being able to play those praetors.
