My thoughts, cats give you the ability to be a catgirl, so there's that. I'd also like to read them as increasing agility and grace, rather than simply jump/fall height.

Crows increasing intelligence is really nice. Turning into a crow is nice by itself, but since Witchery provides both invisibility and extremely high speed flight it's not really nearly as effective.

I'm also thinking of things like a horse, snake, and maybe even fish, giving tauric options as their optional animal features (centaur, lamia and mermaid respectively). Not really hugely useful in general, but lots of people are into that sort of thing specifically.

Any other specifics? Remember the animal has to be black.

The idea here is to have a support network for basement delving with my bro the adventurer (probably the hikki and demon as well, occasionally). Do odd jobs instead of having to work outside, either from the board or for the witch. Maybe sell extra loot to the pawn broker for various boosts. Probably spend a few hours every week looking for interesting things from the illustrated stalls.

Other than that i expect my life to be very average in content, if not with average companions. Now, take a look at those screenshots. Artstyle looks colorful, yet clear perhaps? Level design seems to have it's own distinct style while still managing to hint where you are supposed to go maybe? Well enjoy it for about 15 minutes it lasts, then it's sewer levels all the way down. If you spent money on this game, hopefully you thought that Bloodlines' sewer level was pinnacle of level design because oh boy, do we got linear sewer tunnels for you to walk and carry boxes around in.

After a short jog through the sewer tunnels, you'll emerge into massive rooms, still in sewers and wish you could go back to the tunnels because for all their faults, at least it was clear where you had to go. Not so in sewer rooms where any given rotting catwalk or brown smudge can be the ledge towards which you must hop.

While Portal would present a mechanic, let you familiarize with it, show it again in puzzle and so on until you have mastered it and are flying across the gaps at mach 1, Magrunner on other hand just drops you in front of a puzzle and lets you wander around in confusion. Now before you fly off screaming "Finally! A game designed for a thinking man instead of a tiny baby!", take note that the solution is usually shooting up anything that looks new to see what it does and/or spotting the hidden box/button/brown smudge behind the dark ledge. More than physics puzzle, Magrunner is hidden object game.

Only place where the game bothers to explain anything is the loading screen tips. Thankfully, there's plenty of these as the game is apparently incapable of loading more than a single room at the time.

Magrunner seems to draw it's inspiration from other highly popular games for it's physics modelling. Namely, Bad Rats and Transformice. Fifth time in row when you try to use the moveable platforms to guide a box into place you need and instead cause it to rocket around at mach 1 when you activate the magnets,

Also, when the game advertizes itself as "game in which technology confronts the Cthulhu Mythos, as imagined by author, H. P. Lovecraft.", I personally imagined that the horror would be slow to reveal itself, manifesting as subtle changes in the world, haunting whispers from seemingly nowhere, impossible environments. Things that at first make you question your memory, then your eyes and finally your sanity. Mad, horror filled run to desperately escape the maze that is the Cube and you are the rat, only for that last mind shattering revelation that getting out is escape from nothing and all you have managed in getting back to society is to find slightly bigger trap to die in. Instead, what we get is *static*CTHULHU FHTAGN*static* from radio almost as soon as we are past front doors and then a Deep One runs in and punches you in the dick. Then you wake up in sewers. Deep Ones also have really terrible pathfinding and apparently there's planet sized Cthulhu squatting in space, slowly bopping up and down. I do not question the old ones, they are beyond sanity.

The ending apparently draws it's inspiration from another timeless classic, Doom: Repercussions of Evil.

With Colossal Portals, I can set up front-line bases that can quickly reinforce whatever troops I have out there. Spectacle will be useful for distractions, making my forces look larger, drawing enemy fire, and letting me be a general nuisance. Technomancy opens up a lot of options for taking down any kind of enemy vehicle, and training means that my troops will be a lot better at coordinating.
The Juggernaughts can act as the main force, with Valkyries being able to swoop down and finish off any pinned down enemies, possibly with ranged weaponry if they can even use those. If not, they can settle for just brutalizing anything in melee. Dynamos can sit on top of Grand Tortoises, burning through whatever comes their way, and the Outsider Medics can sit on them too, making the smaller Grand Tortoises moving healing/ranged support platforms. The larger ones can be used for pushing the frontlines forward just by walking.

For the setting here, I'll say that Isabelle was the designer of the AI I work for, but had a falling out over ultimate goals. I get pulled into what is essentially a civil war by the AI, who makes sure I can't disobey its commands while it turns me into a super soldier. The process puts me at spiderman levels of power to start with, but able to become much more with sufficient training, or limit break for short bursts in the meantime.
Since I for one welcome our new AI overlord, it gives me some pull in its organization along with a few subordinates to help out. Hannah has been brought in under similar circumstances to my own, so the AI thinks i can serve as a good mentor, as samuel functions for me. Lindsey is really only there for handholding.

The overall feel of all this is similar to Deus Ex.

Of course, the ability doesn't have to be abused. Just because people are more likely to believe you and do what you say doesn't mean you have to lie and manipulate them into bad things. Being someone that people want to believe is also great when you are telling the truth and helping people too.

crow is the obvious choice if you don't want to spend points on Witchery. That's a big deal, since Witchery isn't very good if you spend <4 points because flying around is conspicuous.

Consortation suffers from being similar but inferior to catmancy. The exception is if you need specific stuff for ingredients or something, as with Potions or Transmutation. You also get a harem rather than a waifu, which may be some people's taste.

Curses jump from "leg cramp" to "death," which seems extreme and prevents an effective low-level option. It's also diminished in value somewhat because of Polymorph. It's main value is discretion. Maybe put a "breaks leg" powerlevel at 3 points, and let you do level n-1 curses at range throughout.

The blood cost of transmutation and potions is very high without healing, and probably kind of trivial with healing potions. An example ingredient for a potion is a gallon of blood, which is about 80% of the blood you carry at one time. Meanwhile transmuting hundreds of thousands of dollars of gold takes about twice as much as you would give at a blood drive (you aren't supposed to give blood more than once every two months).

Not really. Harm falls off extremely quickly, starting with a low damage/fatigue ratio to begin with. The only real usefulness of Harm is the fact that it is spammable as fast as you can click the button in Real Time mode, but fuck real time mode. Haste is great but only in combination with a strong attacking character.

Then again, there's always Disintegrate to 1-shot kill everything short of the final boss. Kind of expensive, but manageable, especially with Force Mastery.

I managed to win this year, using Avatar state with my summoned beasts as an ace in the hole. I relaxed a little bit more this year, and participated in the Harvest Festival, drinking and being merry. I was shocked when the First Princess invited me to guard her.

I rolled a negative 20 on my "keep your cool" check, and after knocking out a few guards, and getting the princess out, I've been branded as the 100th great threat.
