Play any games this weekend?

I played a 1750 game and then a 1000 game against a Space Marine player today. It was also my first time playing against Space Marines. I didn't know what he chapter he used, but they all had Feel No Pain.

The 1750 game was notably unbalanced in my favor. I finally got to use the Emperor's Wrath formation for the first time and it did massive amounts of damage. That combined with my blobs and tank commander made the game fun for me, but not so much for my opponent. We decided to play an extra game to make up for that.

The 1000 point game was more fun because I made a little Bullgryn deathstar that put in work. The Commissar Lord attached had a body count of around 15. His Chapter Master was also in the fray and beat to death most of the Bullgryn. I ended up losing the game, but it was pretty close. The close combat was the highlight, so I'm hoping 8th edition close combat is a lot of fun too.

At least in AoS mob armies had to have large units to get bonuses against additional losses. As is I think it's going make it so that a more efficient usage of points is to buy transports for your units, since the transports can't be forced to take morale tests for wounds suffered.

The only thing I would want is for some units, if wiped out by battleshock, to be able to return. So like if you kill enough Bloodletters from a huge blob so that 5 are left, and then those 5 die from battleshock, they'll go into ongoing reserve and deep-strike back in instead.

Considering that the DA barely touched the Siege of Terra (or any of the Heresy's major events), not that many. And considering that the lowest number of Space Marines in a single legion during the Heresy was 10,000 and that they were scattered across various points and time and space due to the warp rift, I'd say not having finished capturing them in the 42nd millenium is fairly reasonable.

The bombing didn't do much because everyone was holed up in the fortress that became the main hold of the rock. The tower of angels was so fucking tough that when Caliban broke up it held together to the point where they could make it into the rock. After Lion & Luther did their little copy of Horus vs the Emperor the battle was over with little other losses.

Even if we assume it was 1/3 and that the Dark Angels were only at a strength of 10,000, that leaves fucking 3000-4000 Fallen Angels, all of which have been thrown around various points in the future in unknown locations. Hell, half of that number may not have even exited the warp rift yet.

The statline itself is more or less pointless without more information. The stats on Melta and Grav will be big ones, since we already know that Lascannons are going to be pretty nasty against Nauts. But the biggest one will be points. If an Orkanaut in 7th Edition cost 50 points, they would be one of the most broken units in the game. If a Riptide cost 600, they'd never be taken. Points costs plays a gigantic role in whether a unit is viable, and until we see points (which I'm guessing won't happen until 8th launches) everything we've seen so far tells us fuck all about whether a unit will be good or not.
