An issue has arisen I need help with /tg/...

I am DMing a campaign that all the players in the group are really enjoying so far, so we are all having a blast. However - one of my friends recently acquired a girlfriend that is needy as fuck.

The other gf in the group is chill as hell and totally into the game, participating like crazy. She fucking loves the game.

This other chick doesn't play though, and that's fine. We invite her now and then to see if she wants to, but instead the following happens:

We are setting up to play, it's an intensive scenario where people are checking for traps, solving puzzles, talking to npcs...

And she starts poking at him and touching him. Then if he doesn't pay attention she tells him she wants something (like from the kitchen.) She then escalates to not even being able to open a drink without his help, or make a sandwhich - to asking him to play part of her game (like pokemon.) She basically acts as helpless as a child.

This isn't a huge factor on the group as everyone else is participating and he is but 1 of 4 others. It's still quite annoying though as he is the "tank" and is having trouble concentrating on the effort at hand. This is starting to irritate other people, and not just myself for retelling most the information 2-3 times in a row between her calls for attention.

I'm trying to be patient, I don't want to offend him or her, and I he even goes so far as to tell her to go do things herself. It doesn't stop though.

Is there anything I can do here /tg/? Have you had experience with this?
>>
https://www.pdf-archive.com/2017/05/06/cutebold/

You guys think this is an appropriate stat block for a cutebold? I wanted them to be as formidable as a regular kobold, but through their abilities as opposed to damage.
>>
Some of you would hate playing in my game. Rolling for stats so everybody's stronger that standard at the start, homebrew everywhere and at level 10 I'm going to give the players the option of doing a quest for an ancient dragon and get a boon. An epic boon, at level 10.
By level 20 I want my party to be fighting whole groups of empyreans, and gods when they have geared up. I want the players to feel strong, I want the villains to be a threat to the whole world and I want the multiverse tremble as they duke it out.
The game is already breaking at the seams, but that's okay.
It's just a game.

Alright, here's a conversation tutorial for you

Instead of
>"Mike you piece of shit your bitch is ruining the game"

You say
>"Hey Mike, listen, I get that you found a girl that makes you happy, but she's bringing the game down when she's here. She obviously isn't having fun so she turns to you, the only one here she knows in any capacity. As a result you get less involved and the entire game suffers for it. Could you please consider talking to her, or not bringing her to game anymore?"
>>

Barbarian 16, make sure one of your feats was Magic Initiate, make your spells be Cleric, Sacred Flame, Spare the Dying, and Guiding Bolt, then take 4 levels into Rogue, Arcane Trickster. You get the Expertise bonus to Athletics (meaning auto +12 to grappling checks via proficiency alone), three Wizard Cantrips, (Mage Hand Legermane no matter what, then take Green Flame Blade and Shocking Blast) and 3 prepared First Level Spells (Chromatic Orb, Magic Missile and Shield) and 1 unprepared spell (Find Familiar or any ritual spell you want).

It's the perfect Barbarogue if you're okay with sacrificing the Barbarian capstone for magic and Expertise.

alright lets look at the fell grafts...
Fell Rage
Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level,
you can manifest fell powers when you rage. If
you do so, for the duration of your rage you can
gain the benefits of either the Abyssal Hide feat
or the Imp’s Eye feat. When your rage ends, you
suffer one level of exhaustion if you used this
feature.

Abyssal Hide:
+1 AC, spend reaction to gain advantage on a str/dex/con saving throw, can use a number of times equal to prof bonus per long rest

and again we look at the first ability:
>When your rage ends, you suffer one level of exhaustion if you used this
feature.

FUCKING DROPPED! THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE FUCK THEY ARE DOING.
>>
>>53099975

I would say Barbarian/Tempest Cleric multiclass with the tavern brawler feat. Then even if they escape your raging grapple they get blasted by the Blanka from Street Fighter lightening shooting out of your body.

How exactly would you do it though? I've got next to no experience personally and both my characters were the designated full caster for the party.
>>
>>53100566
Kenshiro's probably the weakest character in the show since he's practically a device to move the plot forward. The best character scenes all involved the other 2 Hokuto brothers

Playing Raoh could be very interesting if the rest of the party is on board.
>>
>>53100898
Can someone explain to me what a CHA save IS exactly? All the other saves are pretty self explanatory. Dex is getting out of the way, Wis is mentally resisting an effect, but what are you doing with a CHA save? Seducing the magic into not hurting you?
>>
>>53100965

Need some advice or tips as a DM

Setting is forgotten coast, lmop -> white plume
I've changed the lords alliance into neverwinters military.

A player who left murderhobo'd, then they went off away from the plot of lmop. They came back, and was offered amnesty for killing villagers by doing a task for them. That's white plume mountain.

They finished it, and will not be giving back blackrazor. Lords alliance told the players it needed to be resealed prior to going on this quest.

What should I do?

Ideas so far:
on the run/evil

the lords lie/manipulate the party to go to the tomb of horrors Suicide mission

>implying I'm not wearing my swordplate every time I get on a fucking boat
If the DM puts you on a boat, you know one of a few things is about to happen:
>an octopus / kraken / other giant sea or river creature is going to attack
>fishpeople / lizardmen ambush
>pirates of some sort, even frost giant ones
>someone or something doing magical bullshit to create huge waves
Plan contingencies for all of these. Dummy loot, rigged to murder people, stored on deck or in the hold to counter pirates. Have a poisoned barrel of grog on hand. Wear a rope belt and have lengths of rope tied around the deck so, at the first sign of trouble, you can hook yourself in and save your ass or others from going overboard. Rig a harpoon cannon or strap a weighted spear to one of the lines so it can be swung into some massive beastie that's topping the deck. Rocks and shit to drop on things climbing up the side of the ship.

Our hero gets some ratcheted, pneumatic truck jacks and creates a little body cage for himself that he hides under his poncho; you can see two metal bars tearing through the fabric. When he gets grabbed, and he knows he'll get grabbed, he lets the mech's arm motors burn themselves out trying to crush him, then engages the jacks to force the fingers apart wide enough so that he can get his fuck-huge anti-tank rifle out of his ass.

If you think there's going to be an octopus attack (especially if NPCs have been whining about A MYSTERIOUS CREATURE O' THE DEEP), yeah, bolt some fucking blades onto your armor and willingly wade into the grapple attempt.

I want that tentacled asshole to wrap around me and squeeze so I can put my own fucking arms over the tentacles and hug them even tighter into the blades until I saw halfway through and leave him with a shredded and useless feeler.

Bonus points: the extra standoff distance created by the blades means his little suction cups can't get as good a grip.

Any GM who does that isn't a GM I'd ever want at my table. The second you start saying that rule of cool trumps game rules you're invalidating the shared system that makes D&D more than just playground stories.

If you let the fighter be immune to grappling by a large creature just because he decided to turn his armor into the Iron Throne then you're basically saying that ridiculous ideas trump game mechanics and you kick off an arms race of who can do the most over-the-top plans to completely invalidate natural character weaknesses.

>>53102130
Wall of Stone creates walls that have 15 AC and 30 HP for each inch of thickness. So 720-1080 HP. If your Warlock only has one EB ray and we assume he can't miss because it's a fucking wall, it would take him ~66 rounds to blast through a foot of stone, or six and a half minutes. Halve this when he gets two rays, obviously.
Wall of Stone's rules are also for a 10x10 foot panel so you could march the whole party through the hole your Warlock is blasting.
>>
>>53102216
>Is a god damn stone wall, not a barrel.

Well I mean, Lord's Alliance is filled with powerful fighters and sorcerers, besides having armies to command. If the deal was to bring back the weapons and your players refuse, naturally the lords will send people after the party to retrieve the items.

What good is it for the lords if they go to the tomb of horrors and die with blackrazor inside? They can force the party if need be, with a small (10-20, depending on party level) force of NPC veterans, knights and mages (If you don't know what those are, check the NPC stat sheets on the back of the Monster Manual).

REEEEEEEEE WE GOT RID OF DR, THERE'S JUST RESISTANCE NOW REEEEEEEEEE

Damage threshold is a rule that exists specifically for castle walls. You have to deal a certain amount of damage on one turn and anything below that doesn't reduce the object's HP. An army of casters wouldn't be able to use cantrips to blow any significant holes in castle walls.
>>
>>53102301
Objects in 5e still have it, at least in the case of stuff like boats, so the wizard can't just use a cantrip to blow up a boat.
>>
>>53102301
it's not quite like DR, you either do all damage or none, so if an object has a damage threshold of 10 then 9 damage does 0, 10 damage does 10, 11 damage does 11, and so on.
>>
>>53102313
>An army of casters wouldn't be able to use cantrips to blow any significant holes in castle walls.
Well, Warlocks could. Their per-turn damage once they have multiple attacks in their EB cast could certainly overcome some thresholds, especially when you factor in crits and +Cha to damage.

As long as the ruling is "per turn" and not "per attack", because multiple beams.

I recently have been DMing without a grid and only using it if we need to know what our current positions are in combat. Does this take away from players or should I go full grid? Theater of the mind, grid, or a bit of both?
>>
>>53102802
Grid is almost always better than Theater of the Mind, in my experience, since there are a lot of spells that don't work without understanding of positioning (anything that has AOE, really.) But Theater of the Mind does work if you can't use a grid.

The best solution, if you're trying to keep things light and fast without getting bogged down in calculations, is to go for a white board. That way, people know the approximate distance between each other and their enemies without being stuck on a generic grid. You can draw the map in any way you want.
>>
>>53102523
If they go full muderhobo, they become enemies of the law, and what's worse, enemies of the Lord's Alliance. Huge bounties are placed on their heads, and I'm talking somewhere between 1.000 to 10.000 gp.

>If they do that, should I just basically have them executed by sending out assassins and death squads to rid the world of their evil?
Yes. Don't force your way into their death, though. If it comes to this, it should be fair fights, don't fudge any rolls. Roll openly, even. The first death squad might not be fully prepared to kill the party, you could make it hard or slightly deadly encounter. If it's defeated, then you throw a really deadly one at the party.

I absolutely wouldn't call a class that does nothing but shapeshift a 'druid'. It'd be a 'shifter' or something. A 'primal warrior' or a .. Heck, even 'warden' might work.

When I think of 'druid', I think of what druids were in the real world to start with. It reminds me of stonehenge and all that. As a spellcaster, I wouldn't be surprised if they could polymorph themself into an animal or whatever, but first and foremost I expect them to be able to use magic.

Though a cople of others have already voiced their opinion on this.

>>53098380

Flametongue's 2d6. This is an average of 7 extra damage. But it's fire, which is commonly resisted. And if your DM is an idiot, he might not consider the sword magical for the purposes of DR.

A +2 weapon is already giving you +2 damage, which is cutting the damage bonus of Flametongue down to just 5 on average. Now factor in that you're going to be hitting more often with this +2 weapon. Landing one extra hit with this is generally going to be worth 2-4 of the Flametongue's extra damage.

Get the +2, even if it's boring. If you want to do fire damage with it, pour some alchemist's fire on your sword and tell the DM to suck your dick.

I'd still like it to have, you know, class features, instead of just "here's a list of Pathfinderâ„¢ Perks. Pick some, I guess." And Avatar of the Elements would go great as one of those class features.
>>
>>53103670
Yes.
>>
>>53103580
I dont think your right, where does it say its limited to a cantrip.
>>
>>53103658
But you're also forgetting a specific subset of Barbarogue.

Grapplers. Expertise gives you double proficiency in Athletics, which means (assuming a 16 in STR) +7 to any grapple check at the first level of Barbarogue, and it gets way stronger as time goes on. At level 5 combined, assuming you take the ASI, you can have +10 to any grapple check you make. By level 20 you have a maximum of +17 to a grapple check.
>>
>>53103613
Yeah, good advice, bro. Will compare to a list of comparable CRs.
>>
>>53103598
I see the limited spells known, but as someone who doesn't care about control spells, there are plenty of blasting spells.
>>
>>53103573
Expertise and advantage on grapple checks.
Uncanny dodge + rage for excessive tankiness.
Works fine with two weapon fighting as you can free a hand to grapple or use a bonus action to deal rage damage.
You don't really need feats, so you can do dex+con to make use of unarmoured defence for great AC with a shield+rapier which effectively stacks with having high health and uncanny dodge and rage, though it makes it a bit less effective to use reckless attack (You can still use it when you need sneak attack on something)
You get fast movement, with works well with the rogue's bonus action dash/disengage/etc.
You get danger sense, which means you're even better at evasion which makes up for the fact you don't have dex saves - but you do get str and con saves. So you're basically great at all physical saves.
You get extra attack, which is probably even better than 3d6 sneak attack considering it gives you an extra chance of hitting your sneak attack in the first place, aside from being better at disrupting spellcaster concentration and all that. At the very least if you use a rapier, it's 1d8+5 which is only 1 damage less than 3d6.
Bear barbarian is a given, though you might be wolf barbarian for team support. What rogue you choose is up to you, though AT is pretty tempting even if you only use it for utility. Heck, pretty much every rogue archetype works.
>>
>>53103778
True, is that better than the Riposte maneuver? (Two Sneak Attacks per round)
>>
>>53103745

"A spell cast with a bonus action is especially swift. You must use a bonus action on your turn to cast the spell, provided that you haven't already taken a bonus action this turn. You can't cast another spell during the same turn, except for a cantrip with a casting time of 1 action."
PHB, page 202.

A thug, obviously

A big brutish bandit, an inner city gang member, organized crime "muscle", that sort of thing
>>
>>53103876

>>
>>53103842
What would the level process for that be, start as barb then start Leveling rogue? Starting at 1
>>
>>53103900
This is another one of those rules that really needed to be re-stated (or in this case, mentioned for the first time) alongside the feature that makes the rule a thing to begin with. So many people think Quickened metamagic means double action casts because no one's memorizing some throw-away line half a book down.
>durr we want the book to be simplistic
>>
>>53103845
I won't lie, that is strong. But at the same time, manuvers rely on superiority dice, whereas grapples can be done infinitely. So it depends on the rest to combat ratio of the DM.
>>53103872
There are a few ways. A Clockwork Orange type of thug with anger issues. A tribal who spent years infiltrating and ruining the tribe that decimated his tribe. A Viking whose job was to disable the defenses of the castle during a raid. ect.
>>
>>53103922
start as rogue for proficiencies, starting as a barb gives you jack shit.
>>
>>53103915
Remember, aim for the wizard.
>>
>>53103872
Whenever you thought 'I want to play a strength rogue', it's that.

As for dex barbarogues, it's a bit trickier, but it's basically some sort of rogueish-barbarian who prizes themself in dodging and avoiding and enduring attacks for as long as possible. The sort of guy who would run up to a dragon and let it chase him all the way home just to prove to the fucker how he isn't afraid of it, evasion-ing all the breath attacks and taking piss-all damage from the physical attacks if it even manages to hit the physical attacks, and running with cunning action + fast movement with no armour on.

Literally Conan the Cimmerian.
>>
>>53103922
>>53103943
Start as barbarian, you get str+con saves (Your dex saves will already be godly enough and you can always get cover/dodge dex saves) and you start with 12 HP instead of 8. You'll lose one skill proficiency, but the extra 2 HP and better proficiencies is worth it.
Then one level of rogue.

Then whichever way you go after that is up to you, but I'd aim for 5 levels of rogue or 5 levels of barbarian before putting up to 5 levels in the other class. Both have great level 5 features.
>>
>>53103882
so what can i do with quicken spell.
use fireball then a cantrip?
or
use fireball then use melle wep?
>>
>>53104002
Disengage and then fireball.

Fireball and then dodge.

Fireball and then firebolt.
>>
>>53104002
Yes.
Use hold monster then attack with weapon or cantrip.
Dash then cast spell.
Disengage then cast spell.
Or my favorite, get 2 levels of warlock and quick an eldritch blast then eldritch blast again.

Twinned is by far the strongest metamagic.
Twinned Polymorph and Twinned Haste are super strong.
>>
>>53103990
Would taking two levels of fighter for TWF fighting style and action surge be worth it?

For something around CR 20 yes, that seems about right. Even lower, actually, CR 13 Ultroloths seem to have a similar disposition of Innate Spellcasting. Maybe put level 6 spells in the 1/Day side as well.
>>
>>53104291
This is definitely something my DM would rule.
>>
>>53103463
How would you build Swashbuckler/Battlemaster with 9 levels total? Probably fighter 6/rogue 3. More specifically, which maneuvers?
>>
>>53104172
Crawford said something about EB actually being a beam of energy that damages a creatures life force. So it's not physical damage I guess.
>>
>>53104332
then why the fuck is it force damage and not necrotic?
>>
What's a good mundane thing a GOO might like about the material plane enough to work to defend it? "Mortals are amusing" feels a bit cliche.

Some seemingly silly thing like "I like Tea, and it doesn't exist in the timeless void of nonexistence I call home". Ideally I'd like to have something odd to a human but not "le random XD".
>>
>>53104340
Because they realized their mistake after publishing it and instead of admitting that they just hand wave it into something else. Wot4E monk is a perfect example, since the entire class isn't broken like the PHB ranger they just pretend it's fine.
>>
>>53104346
An enjoyment of our seemingly orderly natural landscapes and such?
>>
>>53104340
Maybe that's what force damage is, I mean it would make sense with Magic Missile being an auto hit. Direct magic soul damage.

Necrotic is probably physical damage to the body's vitality, whereas Force it damage to their entire being.
>>
>>53104324
Depends on what I'm going for.

Do I have booming blade?(Half-Elf/Elf) if so just 3 levels into fighter rest into rogue.

Am I going TWF or Sword and Board? 5 Fighter/4 Rogue for the extra attack as soon as possible.
>>
>>53104346
Food, especially sweets are something it has grown fond of, and doesn't wish for those things to disappear.
>>
>>53103742
It's not like the offical PHB Wot4E monk has "class features", as you say. It's the same deal as this version, but much worse. I can agree with you, though. As it is, they get all the elemental cantrips as a feature by level 6, and then I'd give them Avatar of the Elements at 17th. Could there be anything else?

Monk as a base class already has a shit load of exclusive features anyway.
>>
>>53104379
I always imagined it to be similar to the shockwave force of explosions. Like if you weren't caught in the fireball of an explosion, instead of taking fire damage you'd take force.
>>
>>53104346
>>53104388
I don't really think food works so much. Seems just a bit too irrational that something like that would have a humanly pleasure such as food unless they 'enjoy eating the information within' or something.

I'd honestly go for a subset of 'mortals are amusing' such as an interest in human emotions and how things like paladins can come to be, considering paladins aren't powered by gods, or how sorcerers come to be, or simply the 'coding' of humans and all the different ways something can go wrong with their mind and how they can go insane. Some sort of 'Earthly creatures have some secrets the rest of the universe I've seen doesn't'.

Actually, I think a GOO that has an interest in insanity and the brain could work out quite well.

Still, I guess for something that's not really going to come up much but adds to flavour tea or food could work.
>>
>>53104430
That's more in line for Bludgeoning, Force is more of "Arcane" damage.
>>
>>53104151

Casting two full round spells is strong even once per short rest. Letting the Sorcerer do it as much as they want is just plain busted.
>>
>>53104444
The thing I was leaning to as of now is Dreams, with food (probably sugary things) being more of a minor quirk since it's more of a "great young one" with a few child-like personality traits (denying being childlike being one of them)

I'm just a bit worried It'll come off as a ripoff of Dream since they have somewhat similar personalities and (when appearing human) looks.

If you multiclass one level into fighter as a wizard at level three, then at 4th level you take heavy armor proficiency feat, You end up with a wizard with 19 AC to start, because chain mail and shield.
>>
>>53104530
If the features have different names, yes. There's no rule restricting you from adding a modifier more than once to a roll as long as you have two features saying as such. The only rules about stacking in that way are specifically about your proficiency bonus.
>>
>>53104324

Feinting Attack for the Booming Blade.

Trip Attack for TWF and Sword and Board.

>>
>>53104870
Im a bit bummed out by the way they did Artificer.
it couldve EASILY become a Halfcaster like Ranged without any issues. The Magic item table is full incredibly situational Uncommons.

I Havent tried the alchemist yet but the Gunsmith version is the most boring thing to play. Im not allowed any decent spells for combat and I have to take my action and bonus action to make a single attack, granted it does 4d6+4 (18) at lvl 5 but a Warlock still does Eldritch Blast+Cha with 2 chances to hit over 1 and still has a bonus action and is a full-caster Potentially with a CR1 Familiar.

The only thing I hope can etch it out is the Mechanical servant at level 6 but I'd rather have a mechanical Panther
and Half-caster spellprogression instead of a Mechanical Tiger and having super limited 1st level bonus action spells I cant even cast without not attacking that turn.
>>
>>53105315
I'm in the exact same position as you.

Take all utility spells. Nothing is more fun than being the only person with easy solutions to anything that can't be solved by poking it with a sword.

Alter Self, Detect Thoughts, Invisibility, Levitate, Locate Object, Misty Step, Spider Climb, Suggestion, etc etc etc
>>
>>53099945
Necromancy wizard is about raising a lot of weaker dudes and making them stronger. The issue is that no good DM is going to let you fuck up fights as bad as you will by having to micro 20 different minions. If you want you need to ask him, should he raise issue, if you can make your skeletons into a 'swarm' for the purposes of combat to not slow down turns immensely and generally break combat. That or let enemies have cleaving as well as allies.

Bard with counter-spell from magical secrets will cover most every support role, plus a little extra inspiration to boot.

Divination wizard can do some clutch saves, but abjuration works better for generally reducing damage.

I'd personally say ancient paladin would fit the description of "team player" best though. Attacks bounce off once you have plate and shield, your protection and eldritch auras make you and your allies spell proof and you get free healing on top of your spells. Take the protection style if you really want to be the rogue/barbarian's best friend.
>>
>>53104521
I mean, I'm sure most aren't as skeptical as I, but I'd expect GOOs to be generally completely inhuman, rather than having distinct human traits.
Though, you could have it so they're 'Trying to mimic a human'.
>>
>>53105572
Well I suppose I could just say "lmao dood incomprehensible motives" but that's even more low effort than "muh amusing mortals".
>>
>>53105635
But I'd say 'They're a human, but in space' is worse.

The idea is to get that sweet spot between familiartity and 'alien', and I'm saying that sweet spot is easily beyond stuff like 'Oh, there's a few things they enjoy that're distinctly earthly' but around about 'There're some things they enjoy and you can entirely understand it and it kind of makes sense for such a thing, but you couldn't imagine a human actually enjoying this'.
