I suggest one of two things:
+ Buff the job. Make it so that this job will let you make connections into the film industry. You'll leave Zoe behind, but whatever, man, maybe she'll still be your friend. I realize she won't be your boss anymore, but that's what makes this option unique? The downside is you have to have the social skills to make use of those connections.
+ Buff Zoe slightly. Maybe make her romantically interested in you.... buuuut she's asexual (this maintains most of the "deterrent" that you seem to be going for). Kissing, hugs, cuddling, that's all fine, and she'll let you touch her chest, but she won't let you touch her down there. Ever. Maybe after a year of dating she'll feel bad and start to give you handjobs, though, but it'll be as nonsexual (on her end) as giving you a neck massage.

With my item selection I should have incredible magic potential. The Astral Mark does not give much defense, but I expect I can use spells to defend myself - maybe by casting spells like mirror image to make attackers hit an illusion, or by turning my own skin as hard as stone. My main attacks will be magic, and with skill steal every opponent I defeat will make me stronger and stronger.

My companion Micaela can teach me magic that i can use to keep myself young like she is doing for herself while I search for a method to obtain true immortality. The Aegis is there to tank mobs for me while I blast them with spells.

I chose hero because I wanna be the guy. The eastern cat mount can both travel and help me in a fight.

Manton Bypass lets me use Quality Assurance on myself or my friends, for Siberian/Alexandria tier invincibility. With Godslayer this should even protect me from Scion. Of course, I could still get Taylor'd, so I'm not invulnerable.

I take refuge in audacity as a thief, just walking into businesses and taking what I need or want. My zone of chill prevents anyone from caring until I'm gone. I don't really bother with a costume.

Pandemonium is a loyal right-hand woman, a good infiltrator, and things are never boring with her around. If we get our hands on reformed Bonesaw's biology knowhow she could get even better. Plus there's kinky public shapeshifter sex because nobody can stop us. That's probably where I got my bad rap.

Jack (of all trades) is a good mentor until I get situated, and is decent muscle even if he's nothing special. A solid street-level cape, maybe more if I can figure out stupid ways to exploit his powers.

Mr. Smith is taken for his ability to hit Jack (Slash) in his Blind Spot.

Honestly when the actual ideas were being discussed I had a much different aesthetic in mind for what the CYOA would be like. All of this is very halloweeny and over the top gratuitous, which isn't bad in any way but at the same time doesn't really feel very comfydark to me. It just feels like a roster for a standard adventure CYOA rather than a group of apartment tenants, and the descriptions aren't very interesting either.

Again, just my opinion.

With a final cry of anguish, I heard a dull thud of my head hitting the wooden floors before finally blacking out from the pain.

I finished calculating weapon expenditures, and then moved on to e-war (just one ship thanks to security grid), and then energy/shields.

I'm at 2,229.1 million so far, and that is with the only room on all the ships being a Standard Mess Hall.

Just spinal mounts are 324m, while the Broadsides are 443. Point-Defense is 77m. The fighters all have machine guns (cost-saving!) so they are only 64million all together.

With that in mind, I can give myself Path to victory, Bringing an end=Tohu, Absolute Regeneration, Final form, Endbringer durability, well, this build is more or less pure bullshit and min/max gaming.

For a less bullshit build, I can go with Kingmaker, Brink, Absolute regeneration, Manton effect bypass.

With this build I would try to join Faultline, she pays well, its not crazy in the head even with a scion shard messing with her mind, and she would love the extra power I can bring to her team with kingmaker giving everyone new ways to fight, and Brink would allow us to escape any hard stop instantly.

My plan would be to summon the weakest possible creature that could aid me in further summoning rituals. Something that improved my mind, or coordination, or skill at chanting, or made it easier to get components, whatever the harder rituals seem to require. Repeat with harder monsters as proficiency at rituals increases.

The problem was Ordion making it a "surprise" at the end of his cyoa. You were send out to become a hero, completed a dozen heroic quests, then when you came back home the Emperor/your dad suddenly decides you HAVE to accept an arranged married and if you don't you won't get your inheritance, aka the throne.

It's shit design. He lured in people with a fantasy adventure then forced you into an arranged marriage on the last page.
