What about a scattershot, which uses an attack roll? or just one target of the lot?

Most of them seem like a yes - and it's a decent cost for the power-up and not too busted even in the nastiest case anyways, but self-affecting and scatters I'm less sure about?

I do it all the time, anon! It always starts with an emotion I feel from a song or a scene, and just extrapolate from there. When I feel that emotion, I start to craft a story around it - the bones that bind your flesh, as it were. I'd start gathering relevant material and find a picture in my file that particularly ignites the inspiration, and then I get to work.

Define "ranged". Theoretically yes, you could in fact do it, but it would be expensive as fuck and awkward since by default you need to be within 30 ft in order to sneak attack with a ranged weapon.

Well, I would be using a crossbow or possibly something off of the eastern weapons list (I'm playing a Tengu), so those would be my options as far as ranged weapons go.

I was thinking I could maybe take a trait for stealth as a class skill, or possibly look into a spell or alchemist feature I could use to stay concealed. My group is also full of support classes so I'm sure we could come up with something. Honestly I don't really know much, that's why I'm asking. Speaking of snipers, I guess now's as good a time as any to go ahead and ask what y'all's opinions are on building pic related. Making a sniper is one thing, I can do that no problem. The real issue is making a sniper that shoots trick ammo in Pathfinder, because unless I can shoot weird Alchemist bombs with a slingshot without incurring major penalties or something I'm fresh out of ideas.

The problem with the Sniper Slayer is that it relies too heavily on the phrase "completely unaware" which isn't a well defined term in the game jargon. As a result it's completely up to your DM to determine how well you abilities work. But yeah, sniper slayer with a 1 level dip in warpriest for the air blessing and a permissive DM is pretty great.

How do natural attacks work with sneak attack? As a Tengu I can get a claw attack and a bite attack that both deal 1d3 damage. Would I need any feats or anything to use both in the same turn? This is all confusing as hell.

If you're stationary or only making a five-foot step, you can make both claw attacks and the bite as a full round action. This leads to three attacks with a Full Attack Action. You've saved yourself the need to take a discovery in order to get the natural attacks to begin with, since popping Mutagen and clawing people to death is the default for melee-chemists.

I was hoping to go with preservationist and vivisectionist, which is why I was looking at ranged sneak attacks as opposed to melee. I figured I could hang back and let my summoned monsters do most of the fighting.

That said, if natural attacks are better for vivisectionist then I'll probably go with that as opposed to trying to make a ranged build work. I'm not really looking to optimize too much, so I'll probably stick with preservationist as my second archetype.

Mostly I just don't want to be totally useless.

Not sure if a sneak attack build is right for Usopp, people are usually MORE than aware of his presence during a fight.
