Any guides for someone almost completely new to D&D? Acquire the Player's Handbook and give it a read.

Go to a local game store if you have one, and they'll probably have some sort of bulletin board with ads for D&D groups if you're lucky, if not, you can always ask the employees if they know of any groups. If you can't do that, you can search for groups online.

Because WotC only like wizards, they hate sorcerers, and actively try and remove anything about them that makes them shine above wizards. Even without the errata they're still not as powerful.

Nuking shit with their elemental affinity was THE reason to play a draconic sorcerer. Even then fire, ice, and lightning (in that order) were the only real options to pick unless you don't mind gimping yourself because they can 't be assed to give sorcerers a half-decent spell list which includes elemental spells.

The errata also makes no fucking sense.
>I summon tiny meteors. Oh... but one of them will be slightly more powerful than the others. I haven't decided which one yet.

I errata away the errata in my games and allow sorcerers to change some damage types of certain spells and/or steal certain elemental spells from other classes like wizard and druid because with the small amount of spells they do get, they should at least have a decent pool to choose from.

Reposting from last thread:

How would you play a card-based caster without homebrew?
I have been thinking about this for a while and then saw a class specifically for it on the "touch of class" kickstarter thing.
I've been thinking about it and am stuck between a wild-magic sorcerer and a warlock.

WMS would certainly be able to produce the "random" effects quite well. But warlock seems to fit the fluff of magic cards being backed by some otherworldly power.
Thoughts?

>>
>>52596074
Fluff.
>>
>>52596074
Play Wizard, fluff spellbook as a deck of cards. At the beginning of each long rest, draw as many random spell cards as you can prepare spells. That's your spell loadout for the day. For extra flavor, make it a divination wizard.
>>
>>52596109
You can find most, if not all, of the official books in pdf form in these 5eg threads, there's usually a link to a mega trove in the OP, but because of the very recent turn of events, it may be harder to find.

As for finding somewhere to play, since you say locally is not an option, your best bet is going to be finding a group on a platform like roll20, or tabletop simulator. Roll20 itself can be useful to find such groups, as well other forums and such dedicated to the game, including Reddit.

Before you go searching for random weirdos online to play with, I'd make sure you exhaust all other options. Try to get any friends or coworkers, or whoever to play locally, it will be a lot more fun with people you know; Not that it won't be fun even with people you don't know.
>>
>>52596121
Perhaps it was difficult to follow. The implication was that the touch of class homebrew got me thinking about it again. That's why I brought it up.

I don't want to use homebrew, and I plan to use fluff. >>52596135

I'm just trying to decide which would be more fun and which one would lend better to fluffing?
And also opening up discussion for ways in which you'd do it, if it were you. Just for creativity.

For warlock it seems simple enough.
Eldritch blast could be throwing cards, casting spells could be "drawing" them.

For wild magic, feels more like I'd use a deck of cards as a focus, and due to the random nature of the focus (could be random playing cards), random effects might fire off.

Here you go, young one.

>>
>>52595775
Maybe because Agonizing blast, like Hex and Eldritch Blast, is a de-facto class feature, and was obviously part of the math that went into balancing the class to begin with?

Not every feature is balanced with every feature.
>>
>>52596178
Yeah, I had thought about divination wizard, actually. And this would be a good way to play it.

How would you reconcile int being their casting stat? Just general knowledge of the cards and what they mean/how to use them?

Imagine downloading the pdfs and ctrl+f'ing is like a horse and carriage. In this comparison, 5etools is basically a ferrari with a huge bag of crack cocaine in the dashboard.
>>
>>52596272
We got a ton of EXP fast and I didn't realize until I was like level 7, too late to multiclass.
>>
>>52596074
Sorcerer. That way you can Twin Spell your Firebolts and call it a Fiery Deuce.
>>
>>52596233
Yeah, knowledge of the cards and how they relate to his own arcane skill. Of course, you'd be able to do it with most any class that prepares spells, but wizard may be able to pull it off the best.
Plus it brings in an element of randomness I personally enjoy if you do decide to do card draw for your spells. See how well you fare when your wizard draws Alarm, Comprehend Languages, and Tenser's Floating Disk as their spell loadout for the day.
>>
>>52596224
I can understand hex remaining a spell, but seems to me that agonizing blast and eldritch blast should have just been class features.

...And been nerfed. Or rather, reworked.

I would have liked to see EB be a base feature, and then depending on your patron it changes its power/effects. Without expending an invocation for this "power up." Maybe then at level 10 or something (fuck if I know, I haven't done any actual math here), give them agonizing blast for free.
>>
>>52596261
No, it's not. Other people are hosting its corpse.
>>
>>52596298
Instead of cards with the spells or metamagic on them

You cast spells and use Uno Cards to modify their effects
>>
>>52596321
I completely agree. There's lots of "hidden class features" in 5e and while sometimes it's nice to be able to choose a somewhat-less-optimal thing, in a lot of cases it's basically just a huge design error and user experience issue that should've been resolved, rather than left in the finished product
>>

>>52596348
I wanna get a list together. Mentioning Hunter's Mark to start.
>>
>>52596314
Hah, that'd actually be really fun.
Although I might play it slightly differently.
I'd "deck build" at the beginning of the day and in the event of a fight or something I'd draw a hand of 5 spells, drawing another at the start of every round.

Damn, I'm turning 5e into a TCG.
I can't wait to banish someone to the shadow shadow bobado.

>>
>>52596321
Pure (non-multiclass) warlocks are either "Close to the middle" or "Squarely in the weakest half of classes (but still very playable)" depending on whether your DM likes to do a lot of "intense but not too aggravated" adventuring days or not. That is to say, adventuring days with many encounters, but where you can still find time for multiple short rests, cause those are what a warlock sorely needs to be worth his salt.

In all cases though, if my excel sheet bashing is reasonably correct, the Warlock needs (something like) agonizing blast pretty early on for their damage values to make any real sense - and they're certainly not in need of anything like a nerf.
>>
So, speaking of card decks, has anyone had success (or failure) with a deck of illusions before?
>>
If Mystic were instead named Binder and the disciplines were instead bound Vestiges, what names would they have?
>>
>>52595775
I refuse to believe you're this dense, but I'll bite

Warlock (Assuming 20 CHA)
+5 damage at level 1-4
+10 damage at level 5-10
+15 damage at level 11-16
+20 damage at level 17-20

Draconic Fire Sorcerer (Assuming 20 CHA)
+15 damage at level 6 for Level 2 spell slot
+20 damage at level 6 for level 3 spell slot
+25 damage at level 7 for level 4 spell slot
+30 damage at level 9 for level 5 spell slot
+35 damage at level 11 for level 6 spell slot
+40 damage at level 13 for level 7 spell slot
+45 damage at level 15 for level 8 spell slot
+50 damage at level 17 for level 9 spell slot

Warlock gets the same benefit at level 17 from their feature as Sorcerer would at level 6 if that errata didn't exist.

The actual problem isn't Elemental Affinity + Scorching Ray, it's Quicken Spell + Elemental Affinity + Scorching Ray -> Elemental Affinity + Scorching Ray
>>
>>52595917
This isn't what silence sounds like at all.
>>
So from what I've read in the previous thread and here is that Roll20 won't give a shit if we just remove the tokens and the script to bring things over to Roll20 for 5etools. Does anyone have a problem not having these so overall we don't have to worry about Roll20 having a shit-fit? Because I'm going to miss the script a bit but nowhere near enough to justify worrying about it being taken down again.
>>
>>52596416
Right, I was typing as I thought.
A rework is what I'd prefer. Perhaps you're right in that pushing agonizing blast back would suck, especially considering so few people play into late game.

Keep it as a level 2 feature or something then. Have the patron bestow additional effects for it as you progress, however. Don't link them to invocations.

Hits become misses, misses become hits, failed saves succeed and successful saves failt for the next spell

>Skip
The enemy hit by the spell loses its Action on its next turn

>Draw Two
The spell is copied once in every effect including attack and damage rolls

>Wild
Change the damage type of the spell to anything you wish, or impose a weakness/remove a resistance to a damage type up until the next turn

>Wild Draw Four
Works just like Wild and Draw Two together, but copies it 3 times instead of once. Very rare, but requires that you hit the enemy with a cantrip unless you have a spell slot remaining. If you hit them with a cantrip and still have spell slots remaining, the enemy can call bullshit and request to see your character sheet. If you have spells remaining, the enemy tears it up and deals 4d12 psychic damage to you.

You can't quicken a spell after you've already cast a spell. You can only ever cast one spell per turn, unless any subsequent spells are cantrips.

I don't see it as a problem.
Elemental affinity comes online later than warlock's does, and nuking is supposed to be their thing. I say let them have their cake.

DESU warlocks are kind of weird, not sure what their thing is besides being an EB turret and occasionally throwing out a big ass spell. But nuking certainly isn't their thing. Not unless you are multiclassed.

Can you fireball and quicken ray of frost? It's my interpretation that you can quicken ray of frost and then fireball, but not the other way around, due to the wording saying that when you cast a bonus action spell, the only other spell you may cast that turn is a cantrip, and fireball is not a cantrip, although ray of frost is still a spell.
>>
>>52584203
Action economy is a big deal. The action you spend on fireball could be EB for 17-21 damage, so you're only gaining ~9 damage. Plus the 20' radius, which is the big deal and why fireball is good but it's not on the general warlock spell list.

If you just want to kill one dude, hex is good if you aren't getting hurt. AoA if you are getting hurt in melee. HR if you're getting hurt not in melee.

I want to run a one-shot where the amnesiac adventurers discover they're automatons created to observe the material plane/the planet, they wake up in a facility.
What kind of challenges, rooms, monsters, puzzles should an abandoned high-tech outpost have?
I'm thinking the entity behind the automatons didn't try with just adventurers, and tried to observe by replicating any lifeforms, that may be a little too aggressive and life-like, or just plain berserk.

And because we don't need special snowflake exceptions to the 6 attribute rules when all these other unusual monsters still have 6 attributes.

You'd otherwise have to set up some special 'make con saves as charisma saves' instead.

Also, rogues eventually get blindsight anyway. Though they get reliable talent too, which kind of gets rid of half the point of not rolling 1s.

But still. You can function without darkvision, and blindsight means that you can fight perfectly normally in the dark providing you aren't attacking at range or you're being attacked at range.

"A spell cast with a bonus action is especially swift. You must use a bonus action on your turn to cast the spell, provided that you haven't already taken a bonus action this turn. You can't cast another spell during the same turn, except for a cantrip with a casting time of l action."

That's really the only thing we have to work on. If you cast a spell as a bonus action, then your action can only be a cantrip.

Thing is, there's nothing really there for if you already used your action to cast a spell, so presumably it would just be the reverse - your bonus action can only be a cantrip. Either way, if its Quicken we're talking about, then you're down 2 sorcerer points either way. Doesn't matter which spell gets quickened.

Other than Quickened Cantrips, the only bonus action cantrips there are are Magic Stone and Shadidaddy. I don't think they would have implemented an arbitrary rule just to prevent the casting of those two spells.

Since the fireball fluff in the PHB says something about choosing a point you can see in range, and a fireball erupts from that point (you don't actually throw it like a baseball) can I cast it through a keyhole I can see into another room?

I had forgotten about Magic Stone and Shillidiggy. I suppose the distinction is arbitrary, but I do like to be on point when possible.

High Elves tend to practice a little magic commonly, and often blend magical and martial skill.

Wood Elves don't practise magic, but have a sort of magic inherent to them, with nature disguising them and not hindering their movements.

Dark Elves are the most inherently magical.

I think Dragonborn would work better if they were just a generic template for beast races. +2 strength because part animal, +1 charisma because people tend to think animals are cute. Instead of Draconic Ancestry you have animal ancestry. Damage Resistance can depend on what environment your animal side favors. I don't know what I would replace the breath weapon with though.

>Create Thrall probably was a class feature but current charm rules means it's now shit

which one? I've heard this tossed around and never really looked into it.

Do you mean that they will know they are charmed by you?
>>
>>52596796
Theoretically.

It's not just about the fluff, but also the point you cast it at is where dex saves are considered to be against, so if you have cover from that ball rather than from the caster you can get +2/+5/full against the save.

However, a DM would have to fiat whether you can cast it through a keyhole as while it is RAW chances are they won't let you on the grounds that your line of sight is limited and the 'fireball' as it's travelling presumably won't fit into that gap.
>>
>>52596818
Wasn't there an Eberron UA for Shifter that did this?
>>
>>52596819
But then you can't see through the keyhole.

If the keyhole is big enough to do both, I'd allow it.
>>
>>52596796
>A bright streak flashes from your pointing finger to a point you choose within range then blossoms with a low roar into an explosion of flame.

Depends on how you and your DM envision this streak of light. Is it too big to fit in the hole? What happens if you point at a slight angle and it hits the inside of the locking mechanism?
>>
>>52596751
>>52596790
Yeah, I'm exaggerating. Blindsense is a level 14 feature though, so darkvision still feels really important for a sneaky character.

>>52596772
I think most people ignore it, but even with darkvision the monsters should get a disadvantage on perception checks in darkness, which would make it easier to hide.
>>
>>52596804
I hear you, but I really doubt my DM or myself will want to argue with semantics. It's actually the assumed style per what's written in the DMH or PHB iirc.

I love it, we only on break on to the grid if there's a lot to keep track of/the fight holds more importance than a couple mooks.

Also because I think it's retarded to do grid based combat inside of a normal sized room. Cramped as fuck.

Inside big dungeons/boss lairs? Outside? Absolutely.

I find it also helps players get more into imagining what's going on, since they have to think about the surroundings more. When we place a grid it feels often like if I don't draw it, players won't ever think that it's there.

I mean the Charmed condition is very weak. It's better for the telepathy with a friend than for charming an enemy. Not hard to remove, either.
>>
>>52596907
So basically if you want to cast a spell and a cantrip, the spell needs to be a bonus action and the cantrip an action.

So if its a Fireball and a Firebolt, the Fireball needs to be quickened, but its up to you which can be cast first.

I GUESS the idea behind it is to prevent you from casting Fireball at a group and then throwing Firebolt at something that survived. Rather, they want you to exchange 2 sorcery points for security. Because Sorcerers weren't stunted enough eh?

Anyone have advice for converting Sunless Citadel for 1 PC? I'm teaching some new people and would like to teach the first guy 1 on 1 before playing with a group so I have someone to help me do it.

Are there any other adventures that are easy to scale down? Also I was going to use Roll20 but I think I'll just use Discord now.
>>
>>52597291
oh cool. I guess its still technically underground. Games like Neverwinter really pissed me off with its obsession with gigantic hallways and teeny tiny rooms
>>
>>52596727
I would have definitely loved to go Raven Queen if I had seen the UA before I made my character, because right now my warlock is a GOO and the only cool invocation they get in the UA is Gaze of Khirad, which seems extremely game breaking.
>>
>>52597311
You want to teach a guy how to play?
Just tell him to make his character and then run him through a standard combat against a goblin.

You could even make it part of the plot hook for how he joins the rest of the party.

I really wouldn't recommend putting someone through an entire adventure alone. Not worth the time/payoff.
>>
>>52597311
death house could probably be tweaked for one player easily enough
>>
>>52597311
>Teach the first guy 1 on 1 before playing with a group so I have someone to help me do it.
I've introduced a lot of people to 5E and I don't think you need to do that, really. Rules are simple, just watch how Christopher Perkins teaches them to newcomers, be patient, go with the rule of fun and the rule of cool.
I think having a Rule Adjudant would actually be detrimental to the experience. Might reinforce the DM vs Players mentality.

Just give them a spiel about it being a cooperative storytelling, where someone has to play the villains and the misterious (you) and someone has to play the heroes. Piece of cake.

My DM made a little map with two rooms and a little hall. You start in one room, searching nets you a potion and some slightly better gear. The door is locked. The hall is trapped, and the far room has two goblin, one which can be persuaded or bribed to help you kill the other. Kinda teaches you all you need to know.
>>
>>52595944
Isn't there a wizard archtype that does that? seems easy enough to me to just make it an arcana bloodline type of thing.
>>
>>52597345
It was more just because no one else is actually going to be able to play for a while. Sunless might be a bit bigger then what I need though yeah.

>>52597352
Oh that would actually be perfect, I'll just weaken everything a fair bit, give him a magic sword or something and throw in an NPC to get eaten by the Shambling Mound.

I've taught new players 5e before and it went well, but that was in person and I'm not sure how good it'll be online. I will give Christoper Perkins a look to see how he does it.

Each one tries to one up the last. It goes from simple to insanely complex.

What was the plot of sailor moon again? ancient moon people reincarnated as humans that now fight their old enemies.

ok, and now what's the plot of that magica madoka shit?

I blame the manga magazines. They're headed by snooty bigwigs that pick themes that are popular at the time, rather than setting the theme. Why did Gundam become popular? Because it was a crazy new idea set place in a far future. Despite that, it still felt familiar. Space was a big theme, thanks to other media like Star Wars.

Why did Sword Art become popular? Because FFXII and other mmos are popular, and Japan really likes mary sue characters matched with people they can relate with.
>>
>>52597830

Well, I do love TTGL, I never really considered it entry level though. But, as for some things I personally enjoyed: Arslan Senki, Katanagatari, Kiznaiver, Love Lab, Mondaiji-tachi, Punch Line (sucker for time travel shit), ReLife, Rokka no Yuusha, Shin Sekai Yori and Yama no Susume are all great shows that I wouldn't call entry level.

I found this guide immensely helpful.
I recommend definitely reading the entire book before running it, and also when you do the tarokka reading, you might want to decide what cards you'll draw beforehand and just stack the deck to give it the illusion of being random if you're not sure about your ability to improvise. It did that to a certain extent because i really wanted the helpful npc to be van richten.
Also don't be afraid to change stats and encounters around to fit the party better.

I was kind of liking Attack on Titan until it started getting boring as fuck and making the Star Wars prequels mistake.

Nice! Thanks for the new reading material. I'll be honest, I haven't read every single word of the campaign books yet, only about half of it, but I figure Death House will take at least 1 session, if not 2, and Barovia will take another session as well, so I figured that would give me enough time to finish reading the rest of the campaign.

I did the pregame Tarokka reading, and ended up getting Van Richten as the ally, and Strahd's fight in his tomb, which I thought would be super cool, so I was already planning on stacking the deck.

Also I do have a basic understanding of Japanese honorifics from bored googling. But dubbed doesn't use them anyway and brings across the same intentions so how do I not fully understand what is going on in a visual media?

How do I run a high player campaign? I'm talking about 6-8 players big. It's an incredibly stupid idea but I feel like going through it. What can be done to make it enjoyable? So far my gameplan is:

>30 seconds to think of combat roll or else you get skipped
>players roll initiative individually, bad guys are grouped together as one individual roll
>once combat is done, make sure every character gets a spotlight in roleplay
>make players backstories and backgrounds intertwined with each other and the story
>basically fast, condensed combat but emphasis on roleplay
>BONUS - make it high lethality like old school D&D

Any more ideas to add, fa/tg/uys?
>>
>>52598342

You don't. Six players should be your max. I find five players to be my ideal numbers. I've been a player at two tables with 7 players and it was chaos.
>>
>>52598336
>dubbed doesn't use them anyway

Exactly.

>and brings across the same intentions

No, it doesn't at all and saying that just further cements your position in my mind as a normie.
>>
>>52598295
plan on going french revolution with it?
>>
>>52598342
First two ideas are stupid, third is unrealistic, fourth can be done, fifth is fine, last idea is retarded especially if you want to put an emphasis on roleplay and intertwine backstories into the plot.

If the characters are dying all the time then, depending on how you run resurrection, their plots are going to be pointless because they're dead or there are no stakes because they're getting rezzed all the time.
>>
>>52598387
I prefer Woolseiyism. Faithful localization. Of course I guess I don't know if they really do that with anime like they do vidya.

But also, then, explain to me why kun and chan should matter in any given scene to fully understand something. I'm actually getting really curious.
>>
>>52597823
I don't know much about scripts and such. Where would I put and name this file?
>>
>>52597846
If my DM did this I would grapple everything and then flurry of blows it to death.
>>
>>52595714
What was the roll20 stuff?
>>
>>52598386
If your players are good at D&D and make decently strong characters and have good party balance, monsters will actually tend to be a bit too easy unless you've got a 4-man group.
>>
>>52598446
I dunno, never used the functionality. Nor did most people. Funny how something so arbitrary killed Meganon.
>>
>>52598413
Pretty much the kinda thing I'm going for. I don't think monks are underpowered but they are on the weaker side of classes. I've changed Warlock, Sorcerers and use the Revised Ranger so I thought I'd give Monks the ability to mix things up.

Most likely not at level one but maybe 4 for the jump boost and 8 for the grappling/shoves/disarms.

>>

The honorific a character uses shows how they think of another character. Chan would only be used if the speaker thinks another character is cute or they're trying to be condescending.
>>
>>52598539
Okay. Now, is it impossible to convey what you think of someone in another language?

It would be pretty easy by tone of voice.
>>
>>52597823
So can only DMs use this or something? I tried adding it as a userscript and going to the roll20 game page, but I don't see anything different.
>>
>>52598539
You would have to be a rather big autist to not be able to tell something like that from tone, language choice and knowing the characters.
>>
Someone post a mirror of the roll20 content that got the mega taken down. Fuck them. And how the fuck can they be mad about a script that imports stuff into their platform, pretty sure that isn't illegal to do.

>>
>>52598597
Well, a lot of times the dubbed voicework is pretty shitty, but considering how popular anime has become in recent years that's becoming less and less of an issue.

t.weaboo FMA dub > FMA sub fucking fight me
>>
>>52598612
Japanese? Yeah, there's a fuckton of honorifics that mean a fuckton of things and then words with a lot of flowy meaning to them depending on context.

Contexts that someone who can't into human interaction should still be able to pick up on.
>>
>>52598557
>It would be pretty easy by tone of voice

Not for an autist like me.

And I guess that is what it comes down to really, personal preference.

You're still a normie though.
>>
>>52598651
Can an aspie still be a normie? Well I mean, I guess we're kind of the normies of autists.
>>
I hate this stupid gay hobby. i was just rejected from my 3rd game on roll20. I can't find a group anywhere which is becoming rather infuriating. I can only assume there is something fundamentally wrong with me to keep getting consistently rejected.

So I was watching a few of the Acquisitions Incorporated podcasts from 5e's first year, and they were roolling things like Forbidden Lore, Magical Lore, and Hobbyist Lore. Where do I find that on the skills list?
>>
>>52598856
They were an early playtest part of backgrounds, and were later replaced by plain ol skill proficiencies. Basically you had two areas of lore expertise that allows you add +10 to your Intelligence checks to recall information about them. A neat idea but a bit too specific in most cases.

But I wouldn't mind it haha.

They do have a somewhat steady income. The shop owner has plans to start his shitty business and as he gets more money he will buy property and expand.

Could be pretty fun. I just love it when players start taking interest and invest in the world.

How? Should I do generic orphan fighter #27?
>>
>>52598947
Agreed.
The only one that looks like it'd work in a game is the shipwrecked barbarian.
>>
>>52598967
Just because something's different, doesn't mean it's good.
>>
>>52598967
You should be thinking of a character's motivation to be adventuring first, before you figure out their personality traits.

Also all of those characters were very clearly created with the question of "How can I make this character a living joke?" in mind.
>>
>>52595648
I've never played with an online group. I'm on 5+ months of a large group that meets weekly at my house and I don't have anything bordering on some of the nightmare stories I see here.

Does everyone here play online and with horrible people because that's what it reads like.
>>
>>52599013
That would mean coming up with a motivation for every campaign I apply to instead of developing motivation organically through RP. You are suggesting I go as generic as "muh family died and I need to avenge them." I think personality should always come first.
>>
>>52595735
Yeah but blackface elves are inherently funny to me
>>
>>52598985
I really fail to see how any of what I posted gets rejected versus all the cancer that gets submitted to roll20.
>>
>>52599045
At no point did I give an example of a motivation for you. You're projecting super hard by assuming I'm implying that you should do an orphan backstory.

But no, by all means, keep getting rejected with your retarded meme characters.
>>
>>52599045
The rulebook specifically asks you what your characters reasons are for adventuring are.

Nobody starts or joins a profession for literally no reason and then figures it out from.

Even if their reason is "I dont know what to do" thats at least a reason
>>
what's the difference between current hit dice and total hit dice?
>>
>>52599070
>Muh projection meme

I love how every pseudo intellectual replies with this. You said make a motivation first and I gave an example of generic shit you get when you build of motivation first. But you pulled the projection card first so I guess you win.

Is oath of vengeance actually gimping your paladin?

Was in a thread yesterday where some guy advised me against it
>>
>>52599111
If you automatically default to "my family is dead" when asked about character motivation, there's your answer as to why you're getting rejected from games.

So, to answer your first question, yes there does seem to be something fundamentally wrong with you.
>>
>>52598902
>The thief, Black Leaf, did not find the poison trap, and I declare her dead.

Gonna start talking like this when I DM.
Also

>.gif

Liar.
>>
>>52599124
Not really. It just means you're a powder keg of justice ready to do whatever it takes to make sure evil has no place in the world.

When you think about it, they're pretty cool, actually.
>>
>>52599099

If you've spent some hit dice after an encounter, but haven't rested enough to recharge them all, the difference between them can be determined by subtracting spent from total.
>>
>>52599139
You are really bad at reading. I don't default to "family is dead" I am very against that. Which is why I disagree that motivation comes before personality. I feel like I am arguing against a /tg/ bot right now
>>
How broken would this be?:

Elemental arrow:
Transmutation cantrip, range touch
Casting time: 1 bonus action

Touch a piece of ammunition and imbue it with the power of the elements. Select a damage type, acid, fire, cold, lightning, or thunder. If that ammunition is fired before the start of your next turn it will deal an additional 1d6 of that damage type. Losing its magic after it is used to make an attack, hit or miss.

At higher levels it will deal an extra d6 per normal cantrip scaling rules. 5th level, 2d6 etc etc.

The idea is to make something similar to booming blade/green flame blade, but have it cost a bonus action to balance due to range, and give it the additional (although usually very small) boon of getting to choose the damage type.
>>
>>52599124
No. Vengeance is the most powerful Oath in the PHB. That anon was functionally retarded.
>>
>>52599044

>>52599124
No. I don't think a single paladin archetype available is considered underpowered by anyone.
Also, I believe out of all the paladin archtypes Vengeance has one of, if not the, highest single-target damage outputs. No mechanical gimp.

I've played games with and without a grind and it works perfectly fine (i usually describe the distance between things in terms of rounds as oppose to feet seems to register better with my group when not using a grid in combat)

only time i whipped out a grid for my theater of the mind games is with my current homebew of Spelljammer. I mapped out their ship since i'm aiming for a free form trading sim.
