I always liked the idea that there would be, in a polytheistic setting like most D&D realms, that there would be one somewhere, within which angels of all sorts, whether the ones that are huge and have huge guts, or the smaller, friendlier ones that escort people who died traumatic deaths, or the person-sized ones that may walk amongst mortals to dispense advice, all the way up to the Eldritch Deifacted Thought-Spurs that shape continents and don't afraid of anything, there would be tiny ones.

Little, tiny, cute ones that are disarming and sweet, and just want people to be happy and comfortable, that respect free agency and will, that can feel emotions of their own and want to see their friends in heaven...

...and that are accompanied by tiny snakes. Little winged snakes that fly around them and bask in the sun while their friends are talking to mortals. Not to attack anything, they just follow their angel friends up and down from heaven and relax in the sun while the angels do their shit. They're angel pets. Why would I want an angel over a succubus?

I was expanding on the post to show that Norse gods could easily be harmed, specifically with the game about throwing things at Baldr. So we never see if a human can harm a god, but everything else can. They can harm each other with natural items (stones, sticks, etc...), giants can kill them, and even animals can harm them (Loki and the serpent). Your notion of Norse as a Christian religion is curious. Christianity didn't begin to infiltrate them until much later, and Odin predates that. Maybe you are confused because the most complete works we have are by Snorri Sturluson who was a convert to Christianity and who gave a more Christian flavor to his detailing of Norse mythology. But this was hardly the same as writing their bible. The Norse religion was largely passed by oral tradition and so written accounts are rare and Snorri's is the most complete, if biased. Even without him the stories would have continued and it should be noted unlike the Romans the Norse faith has not fully died, nor does it only live on as a bastardized new age fad.

The anon above is right that there is little to no evidence of valkyrie's in combat. Though perhaps not a smoking gun since our knowledge of Norse stories is rather limited. Oral tradition allowed for tales to mutate over time and the recorded stories are regrettably far and few in-between, and some of them come with a distinctly Christian slant. We don't have a lot of personal stories about many gods, just names, and the ancient stories about Valkyrie typically focus on their duty as Choosers of the Slain, so I don't think one should expect them to actively fight in those battles given that would get in the way of their official duties. They're supposed to be choosing valiant dead, not ganking a bitch. In the stories where they favor the course of the battle they're at least more proactive but acting as invisible guiding spirits. Kind of like a general of destiny/fate.

I've read variations where Freya was actually a valkyrie herself and the head of them. In others they are Odin's daughters or foster-daughters. Mostly what i know about Freya in this context is she gets a bounty of half the slain warriors, and sometimes she gets to choose first among them before Odin has his pick.

At the very least warrior women aren't entirely unheard of and there is some archaeological evidence to back this up, though naturally scholars argue what it means whey they dig up a female skeleton buried with weapons. Trophies, the weapons of sons or husband.
