On the other hand, if I'm not mistaken Clinton planned to provide amnesty to illegal immigrants currently in the United States, putting them on a fast track towards full citizenship. This would shift the American electorate to the left so hard it may very well have meant the end of the Republican party (unless they in this hypothetical scenario also started leaning more left, to the point where the Democrats and Republicans can barely be told apart).
