The incorporeal form caused him far more downsides than upsides. The most hilarious part? He decided to be a wizard. He decided to carve his spells on his ski- uh oh! You can't use a scalpel, and your fey body is resistant to non-iron anyway!

I guess I could see that. The people I played with (including myself) had absolutely no clue or real care about optimization. All our stats and character building decisions were sort of bad. But it was still great fun.

Let's say you're a sorcerer with Greater invisibility and Fly. If you have both spells on yourself and then lift off do you get a +20 or +40 to your stealth checks? A +40 is for standing still but if you're flying you're not touching or making the sounds a grounded invisible person would make.

Hey guys whats up, I had a few questions about wraiths. I am pretty sure what I am doing is legal but I need to make sure. I've been DMing for a group and one of them decided to be retarded and climb into a coffin containing a wraith while over 30 orcs were pursuing him. As a result he died as did most of the orcs since none of them had magic. As a result each of the six wraiths have five spawn under their control (really it should have been more like fifteen apiece since only two of the wraiths were disturbed, but whatever).

So now the PCs are going back and fighting them, and the wraiths are hard-pressed. My questions are:

> (1) can they run away through the floor and hide within the ground? If not they can still get away but I am curious how exactly I should have them flee

> (2) does the negative energy damage heal them? So a group of wraiths could touch and thus heal each other? If this is true, the wraiths could hit and run the party, draining their Con then fleeing to heal up?

I may sound like a dick DM but this group has had basically a cakewalk so far so I want to give them a real challenge. But I also want to play by RAW/RAI at least.

Well a lot of them are lesser wraiths, not to mention they are being fought one at a time (so only six wraiths: one real wraith + 5 wraith spawn from the orcs killed. I just had them divide up the spawn evenly even though only two wraiths were disturbed, the rest are in slumber.

However if they are dumb enough to open anymore coffins, then they are completely fucked.

But yeah the entire party was yelling at this guy OOC for basically dooming them to die because they needed a macguffin from inside the temple and now it is full of 5x as many wraiths.

I guess I'll do a Harbinger then. Fluff it as him being a friendly, if brooding, young gentleman, and wanting to start again in a new environment. I had him statted out a while back as a Slayer VMC Magus but I lost the character sheet. If I wanted to have him accompanied by his favorite childhood steed that was lost in the fire that burned down his home, would Omen Rider be a good choice? For the campaign and in terms of "is it a good archetype" ?

Though, what are your experiences with the Spiritslayer and Velvet Blade archetypes? I was looking at them for a theoretical Harbinger gestalt- a noble haunted by ghost, who is nothing if not a sweet, gentle person. His two heirlooms are his father's lance and... the ghost of his favorite horse that he rode while a child.

Spiritslayer/Velvet Blade Slayer // Harbinger Omen Rider. Go Mounted Combat on the Slayer Side, then take the spirit sense talents because holy heck getting the Blind-Fight line without having to meet prereqs isn't that bad. Focus on using a lance in some kind of Dragoon-like fashion too.

I've actually never played an archetyped Slayer or gestalt so I can't help you. I just love how much room you have to mess with the class, it's got a clear identity instead of going too wide like Vigilante but you still have so many options with being able to cheat feats like a Ranger while opening up slots for other tricks from your talents. The class rewards some planning and positioning too, it really strikes a good place for me as someone who likes the simple gameplay of martials but enjoys working out character sheets.

So my gaming group is starting a Pathfinder game and I was wanting to join it, having never played before.

Druid seemed pretty interesting but then I started reading the rules and trying to put together a character and discovered that my character sheet is 8 pages long and I have to choose from a list of like 50 spells, feats, skills and archetypes right now when I don't know the game like at all.

Is this normal or did I just pick like the worst class for the beginner. Because the decision space I'm in now is so overwhelming that I'm about to give up.

Hey guys. I just started a pf campaign. I decided that I wanted to play a fantasy Michael Weston, with a focus on being smart and slick with people, and using combat as a startegic fallback.

The game is intended to be tapered back a bit - I'm tired of seeing 30+ "superhero" games out there. The hunter thing is mainly intended to offset concerned that companions might start to out-muscle martials without heavy stats.

I'm in love with the tone of starting low and pulling oneself upwards. Moderate stats, low wealth, and yet succeeding despite it. These things can be found, but they must be worked for.

There are 4 common builds to making a hunter.

1) Feral Melee Hunter
This uses the feral hunter archetype and is heavily reliant on self-buffing, wildshaping into a werewolf, werebear, etc. and summoning some pets for teamwork and flank bonuses (dire wolves get a special mention here due to their very high trip attack + teamwork to spam trips)

2) Ranged Bombarder Hunter
This uses a large flying animal companion like a Roc more often than not. Unlike the ranger with their archery feats, the ranged hunter uses teamwork feats to get as many AoOs as possible with their animal companion. Rocs also helps them stay above the battlefield to take potshots at enemies at a safe distance. The added bonus, Rocs can learn monster feats that lets them land and pin on smaller creatures or pick them up and drop them off cliffs. Otherwise, Rocs can and will carry feathertokens you can use to airdrop friggin Trees on enemies to deal massive damage.

3) Pouncer Melee Hunter
This, and the Animal Domain Inquisitor are the only two classes that gets the fastest access to pseudo-pounce and deal massive damage early game. You'll need the Stick Together feat and the unerrata'd ring of ferocious action to pull it off.

4) Beastmaster Hunter
This Hunter acts more like a druid, in that they buff the animal companion and use Skirmisher Ranger tricks to make the animal companion do debuffs at the enemy like ensnaring them for 1 round, doing AoOs if enemies target the hunter's allies, etc.
