While the size of it eats into its transport capacity, and the reactor has a habit of putting off horrific energies to its surroundings when discharging, its tempermentalness is more than made up for by its sheer brutality and outright maliciousness in combat against the foes of the Changer of Ways.

>At the beginning of each Psychic Phase, the Land Raider Anakis can attempt to harness the following Psychic Power (counting as having a Leadership of 8). If there is a Sorcerer embarked within it or within 6", it may harness this Warp Charge at a +1 and may use the leadership of the Sorcerer instead of its own. What's the ruling on dual welding pistols? I've been meaning to make Hadron 44-Stroika from Skitarius and it's written that he uses two arc pistols and two arc mauls. What's the rule, if it exists.

Does an HQ choice included in a Formation count as the HQ of the army or would I need a second HQ? I would like to run an army of skeltons that reassemble themselves with the Lost and the Damned formation, but 2 HQs in a 1k game seems like too many

I've never seen a player in my local area use flyers for anything other than transports, so I'm not too worried. This guy uses a lot of drop pods though so I figured tanks would just get killed by his drop pod melta.

First, I'd skip on the boltguns for the basic marines. Since you're running World Eaters, you want them cheap and in melee as fast as possible. You could save an easy 30+ points by just swapping for the cc weapon instead of buying it.

I'd also go for Autocannons over heavy bolters on the havocs. Same price, but far better.

The two Claws on the Raptor champ are also really wasteful and pricey. Shred is good, but simply keeping his pistol and buying a power weapon will do a similar amount of work for less.

Also, one more thing, you can only have 1 Relic per character. The Talisman of Burning blood is good, but you can't also give him a Burning Brand and Berserker Glaive.

Also, if I recall correctly, the Berserker Glaive prevents him from joining a unit, so that makes the Chaos spawn less useful as a potential bodyguard unit.

With those relics cut out, along with the points saved on the claw and boltguns, you could afford a lot. More if you cut out some of the chaos spawn.

Well, even if you are taking multiple Relics out of houserules, I would recommend going for something other than the Glaive so you can have him joing a squad of Chaos spawn to help shield him from fire.

Other than that, it's pretty solid. If he's using lots of drop pods, it'll be easy to spread your guys out and charge them afterwards. I'd be wary of melta taking out your helbrutes though.

Actually, what they really need is natural Extra Armor, subtracting 1 or 2 from the penetration roll and not being made useless by a single Grav Cannon.

Also, some way to mitigate being stuck on terrain. Maybe just not letting it move for the next turn.

All these buffs applied would at least make them able to withstand more than just around 100 points worth of firepower before being immobilized or exploding.

The Paladins of Khorne
A Chaos warband the follows the martial honour and valour focused aspect of Khorne.
They consider that while Khorne is happy with any blood he prefers the blood and skulls of warriors, the greater the skill of the slain the more Khorne is pleased. Consequently rather than launching raids as other warbands typically do they'll seek out existing battles dropping in to fight with the "underdog" against the stronger side (who's blood is more valuable), like some sort of bizzaro Legion of the Damned.

They think of themselves and present themselves as great and honourable warriors, this image being one of the main ways they recruit new marines. Drawing in those dissatisfied with Imperial rule but still wish to be heroes.

Only once an Initiate is fully inducted do they learn the truth of why they fight the way they do.
They don't spare the unarmed out of any sense of mercy, its contempt and the hope they'll one day become a warrior worthy of killing that stays a Paladins blade.
They side with the loser in a war not to defend the weak and the innocent but too prolong the war, turning a quick slaughter in to long a gruelling meat grinder, ensuring that in the end many more lives are lost in battle.

They also have a strong hatred for the World Eaters who they consider to be doing it wrong.

You could try buying the Arc Pistol bit separately, cutting the Pistol off at the top of his hand, take one of the other skitarii arms that holds one of their rifles in the left hand and replace it with the pistol piece you cut off. Then just give him the actual Arc Pistol part for his other arm and add the Mauls either to the underside of his arms (like in the novel) or at his hip.

Don't you forget about getting the Servo Skull from the Sicarian kit to attach to his base/outstretched arm, though. Pheros died too young and should be remembered as the greatest of his kind.

1) Custodes are basically just better and terribly overpriced Terminators. Deep Striking a Contemptor seems fun but none of their unique rules or Warlord Traits are really good.

Raven Guard also have a formation of I think 1-3 Vanguard Vets, 1 Chaplain and 2-5 Assault Squads oe something along those lines thst lets you roll for the entire Formation at once and also lets all of them return to Ongoing Reserves immediately once per game. I think it can even be taken as a Core in their detachment. They also have a Scouts + Vanguard Vets formation that lets the vanguard not scatter and charge immediately. I'd personally go for Raven Guard, though I suppose Blood Angels could work (though being a core codex Chapter obviously has the bonus of having all of the nice shit available to you as well while BAs are pretty bad in comparison).

I just made a Tau Cadre called "Darkstar" that specializes in Void Warfare. Which means going to battle entirely within mechanized devilfish units, alongside metric shitloads of stealth suits, as well as a contingent of Gue'vesa.

They are specially suited for fighting on the surface of Moons, Asteroids, and Space Hulks, usually without any light to guide them. They're especially good at boarding onto the external hull of ships, and blowing up anything within reach of the hull such as anti-ship turrets, engines, and shield generators. Then forcing the security teams of said ships to fight them outside of the hull.

The actual blue is supposed to be a sort of ultraviolet projectors, which can be seen by friendly helmets, but are otherwise invisible. Helps to stop friendly fire incidents when you're on the dark side of some moon assaulting a fortified structure.

So I've been slowly working on an army on and off for about 2 years now and a nearby store is throwing together a friendly tournament so I'm signing up even though I have no expectations to win just want to have fun and actually play the game for the first time

Threw this list together from what I actually have, again I understand that its nothing exceptional, I just wanted to ask for some pointers on how I could play it. Also for what psychic powers I should have my rune priest packing. I was thinking of loading both the rune priest and the wolf lord together with the terminators in the redeemer, wolf lord chopping shit up with the black death and the rune priest either buffing the squad or just using offensive powers

Dreads would stick together as an advancing gunline, long fangs stay behind shooting nasty targets, plasma gun grey hunters cap points under cover from the dreads and the meltagun hunters rush up in the rhino and try and knock out anti tank units, hopefully with some luck I can outflank something with the detachment bonus

Advice, thoughts?

The Leviathan needs a Lucius Dreadnought Drop Pod at 50 points, it's considered "Practically Mandatory" since the Open-Topped pod does not requires your leviathan to disembark for an entire turn. It can plop down behind a bunch of tanks or a knight one turn, and kill them with it's copious amounts of shooting, but it STAYS IN THE POD. Then on the next turn your opponent has to kill the drop pod FIRST, before he can even start attacking the leviathan. After which it can disembark and immediately assault anything it pleases.

Nothing is stopping someone from proxying whatever army fits best with a "gang" and using old Necromunda minis or any of the shittons of third party models out there.

The only downside is you won't be able to play with them at GW stores, but small FLGS and Garagehammer is roughly 1,000 times better than trying to get pickup games from assholes and cheaters at official stores anyway.

Guard isn't a super newbie friendly army since you'll have to buy and paint a shitload of models to get a game going.

That said, pick whatever army you think looks cool, since you'll be spending hours assembling and painting them.

Space Marines are a popular first choice. They're fairly well rounded on the table amd have more models than any other army. You could always just get the Killteam box set for $60 and play Killteam games with two armies.

So assuming you have no other models then your strategy is straight-forward, escort your land raider full of terminators to beat people in the face

Deploy aggressively, use your dreads, rhino, and grey hunters to bubble wrap your land raider to avoid deep striking melta guns so it will survive turn 1

Give your priest divination, if you get the 4+ invulnerable save power you can cast it on the land raider which is sweet

You have a decent amount of AV12+ armor, so anything short of optimized Tau or Eldar will have a hard time removing them before you hit their line, the problem lies in the low model count and low damage output, so you'll likely hit them with half of your army, wipe a few squads with ease, then get battered by the short range counter attack. If these are the models you have then you will have to make do.

Due to monstrous creatures losing built-in armorbane, walkers are surprisingly durable in combat, the tough part is getting them into combat.

Want to write some custom rules for it as a shooty gunboat variant of the Manta with less durability and more gun. Since the railguns are represented by Volkite Carronades off the Glaive, would this be an appropriate main gun? It has two, and is about 2k points, AV13/12/12, 25 HP and 3 Voids, plus the Reinforced Structure 5++.
Other armaments are two slightly souped up Leviathan Storm Cannons, some hunter-killers, an autocannon and a shit ton of Shrapnel Bolters (S5 AP5 Heavy 5 Pinning 36").

Volkite Eradicator:

S8, AP2, Heavy 3 Blast, Deflagrate, Molten Heat.

Molten Heat: When a vehicle takes a penetrating hit from this weapon, do not roll on the vehicle damage table. Instead, automatically inflict a Crew Stunned result and any transported units cannot disembark in the enemy's next turn (all the hatches and such are melted shut for a bit).
If the vehicle is open-topped, the transported units each take D6 S5 AP5 Deflagrate hits per penetrating hit suffered.

Hoping that combined with all the Pinning coming out of the 16 Shrapnel Bolters and the ability to carry units on top deck and Grav-Chute them down it'll lock the enemy down for everything else to kill while sniping key targets with Deflagrate storms. Not very good against heavy tanks and such, though.

not good. to get a strong enough joint youll end up using huge blobs that spill out and look ugly.
just use superglue, pin joints if they're giving your trouble. Epoxy glues if you want some real strength, but you'll need to prop up the mini while it sets several hours.

It will break on the first knock unless you use CA-glue first and then patch the seams and holes with greenstuff.
And if you really want your metal models to stay together you'll pin them.

This is something I'm confused about too. People take him to give the whole army obj secured, but I always read it as it only gave his own units that he takes obj secured. Like if you take some Acolyte squads and such.
