Anyone that makes corax out to be innocent or perfectly noble doesn't understand the point of his story arc. At the heart he's painted as a pragmatist above all else with the long term goal of making imperial governance universally decent to its citizens (40k imperium is basically his worst nightmare made real). No detail is ever really given besides a few notes about the governments they leave behind on planets they bring to compliance and his intentions for 'after the crusade' but given his whole bent is anti-slaver and anti-tyrant, I'd be willing to bet something more along the lines of reppublicanism mixed with benevolent dictatorship, as those tend to be the most stable long-term models. Well the vast majority of humanity does have some form of psychic potential in the GrimDark. So whilst not all GK recruits are active psykers, it very well could be that GK geneseed merely unlocks or enhances that potential.

Can Sisters be a useful ally against an army other than TSs or WBs? Do they bring anything to the table a squad of vets couldn't achieve?

I know the standard loadout for a sergeant against 30k armies is AA & an AP2 weapon plus meltabombs for all the dreadnoughts that are running about, but what if you're going to be fighting a mix of 30k and 40k forces (because that's just how it is at the LGS)? Is it still worth spending all those points tooling up a sergeant? Is a simple power sword an acceptable loadout? Help me /hhg/-wan-kenobi, you're my only pope.

It depends on what the unit the sergant is part of is meant to do. Tactical squad sergants should only get a meltabomb (and a powerdagger in the case of AL) because they're just cannonfodder and there to camp objectives and protect other units from charges by being in the way. Veterans that are going to get up close and will be in situations where they can charge might want more choppy ugrades on their sergants.

Manta project is ticking on nicely. Most of it is probably going to be built out of balsa wood, since making something that big out of plastic without an extremely complicated cast is asking for trouble on a grand scale. Worked out how and where all the weapons would be mounted, and decided to stat the main gun. It has two mounted, how does this sound?

Volkite Eradicator:

S8, AP2, Heavy 3 Blast, Deflagrate, Molten Heat.

Molten Heat: When a vehicle takes a penetrating hit from this weapon, do not roll on the vehicle damage table. Instead, automatically inflict a Crew Stunned result and any transported units cannot disembark in the enemy's next turn (all the hatches and such are melted shut for a bit).
If the vehicle is open-topped, the transported units each take D6 S5 AP5 Deflagrate hits per penetrating hit suffered.

Hoping that combined with all the Pinning coming out of the 16 Shrapnel Bolters and the ability to carry units on top deck and Grav-Chute them down it'll lock the enemy down for everything else to kill while sniping key targets with Deflagrate storms. Not very good against heavy tanks and such, though.

How does this look as a starter list? LGS tends to play smaller games, typically 1500, and there's not enough 30k to purely play AOD games so would be facing some 40k armies too. Now it properly butchers infantry and I don't have to worry about giving it mega-OP special rules beyond"big melty thing". Have actually been considering using the daggers for another purpose: as a way of giving the sergeants a melee weapon as well as a combiweapon (without paying for CCWs for the whole squad). Been wondering whether they'll do more damage on average with a combiplasma than with a powerfist, now leaning toward that with the dagger as a little surprise bite in melee.

This always bothered me. Rogal is supposed to be the most professional-soldier-like of the primarchs in temperament, skill, equipment, etc. He's not a warlord, or a barbarian, or a demagogue, or a sorcerer, or an administrator, or even a general, he's the soldier of the bunch.

He even has a bolter and a chain sword, but man they made those two things crappy. He's great at taking down terminators and robots with the crazy number of low ap attacks he can make, and sundering blow for taking on big robots (st8 ap2 at initiative is really good, especially combined with rampage and reaping blow) but his BS5 rending heavy bolter sucks.

Basically what I'm saying is he should be suited to both shooting well and fighting non-primarchs well. The latter he does I think as well or better than most other Primarchs, but the former... he kinda feels... meh.

Actually, the Blood Angels legion got split up badly. Not all of them assembled before leaving for Signus Prime, only the bulk. The rest who were left behind were basically trapped behind enemy lines, believed themselves orphaned, and either were under siege by the traitors until the last astartes fell or began preforming covert hit and run guerrilla actions against the traitors.

They talk about it with the Rites of War section for the Blood Angels.
