thanks, I didn't notice the word "eligible" under the combat phase rules.

Yeah its Sigvald reimagined for AoS, sort of like a punished Sigvald.
He was scarred by Krell in the end times so I used the deathbringer with the beard and scar on his eye. The new model is way bulkier and suits AoS better than the old Sigvald model. But I have 2 of them so I put one on the Warshrine as a golden statue to represent Sigvalds former glory.

I actually use the blood reavers as Chosen because they have the big axes and I don't like the finecast ones. Yeah I gave them the Mirror shields as Sigvalds Mirror Guard so he can admire himself mid battle.

I read his book from the black library, and then the total war game made me like him even more.

Since they don't print the book anymore I dont think its a spoiler: Basically I love the character and by the end of it, he MEETS slaanesh, gets a piece of its sword, stabs a deamon prince, and Sigvald becomes a demi-god. He then beats the shit out of a khorne army and its champion.

His character is really funny as well. There is a part in the book where he is with his friend on this huge outdoor bridge in his castle in the northern wastes. He remarks how beautiful the night is, how the snow is falling just perfectly, the moon is full and beautiful, then without warning he pushes his friend off the bridge to his death because he wasn't handsome enough and was ruining the scene. It's hilarious.

Does anyone here have experience running Dark Elves in Sigmar? It seems kind of difficult since they're split into like 4 armies, but there's a universal battleline DE troop so it should be plausible, right? I found a few of my old Dark Elf models and am considering starting.

At 1k I'd be playing Order Serpentis, with a Prince on Black Dragon, 2x5 "Drakespawn Knights" (fucking Cold Ones), 1x Drakespawn Chariot, and a War Hydra. So that would work since the Knights are battleline for Order Serpentis. Then at 2k I'd try to add in the battalion that uses those units, + 3x 10 Dreadspears since they're the generic battleline any of the armies can use, then I'm not 100% sure what I'd do next but it'd probably be a unit of 10 Doomfire Warlocks, 5 Dark Riders, a Sorceress and an Assassion (comes out to exactly 2k).

Thoughts? To me it seems like a pretty fast army with a solid hard to remove anvil, some mages, and a lot of ways to cause mortal wounds and to troll the shit out of people

tl;dr running Dark Elves as Order Serpentis and then adding some Darkling Covens, Daughters of Khaine, and Shadowblades, yes/no? Is there anything I'm misreading that would prevent me from doing this? Are they shit?

Trying to come up with some fluff/background for my Sylvaneth at the moment, basic concept is they're from some filled with ice (i'm not 100% sure where this is exactly) cut off from the rest of the Sylvaneth for thousands of years and a little bit crazy because of the isolation.

There is a diverse array of biomes in every mortal realm. Even ghyran has the area of ice and snow that nurgle chased the SCE and sylvaneth through while alariel was just a seedpod.

You could do your wargrove based around there. They were frozen for so long, but the recent battles and the awakening of the sleeping ice god there lead to a series of events which shattered the ice around the grove and they broke free.

The place is the Jotunberg Ice Fields. And the story for it is the first chapter (Ghyran's Last Hope) in the Realmgate Wars series campaign book #2: Balance of Power. The scan should be in the mega if you want to read more about it.

That's well painted, btw.

I could see that either way actually (karadurak). You've got the roots kar (big stone) and dur (stone), and both of those go to "enduring, hard, strong, lasting" etc in the adjectives. I got it from the glossary at the back of The Great Betrayal which has it listed as "Enduring stone through which the most potent of runes can be crafted."

Tbh Khazalid grammar is frustrating as all hell anyway, not least of which because GW rarely if ever follows it, or even makes any sort of token effort to follow it. Compare the dictionary word suffixes (-az is noun, -ak is adjective, roughly) with them using karak as the omnipresent noun for mountain. The fact 'lid' means tongue as in body part, but they use it as shorthand for 'language' literally everywhere (Khazalid, Grundlid).

In short, just as confusing as any real language I guess, so i suppose I'll stop whinging and just be happy they're at least making an effort to keep it included in AoS.

Rolled the squigs out for the first time yesterday

One made a turn 1 charge into a plague furnace and ate it. Then a verminlord charged it, it turned around and ate it too.

Ended up getting charged by censer bearers and getting merced, but when it died it exploded and took the censers out as well

I don't have much, hammering it all out for my Ironjawz (and soon Bonesplitterz).. One of my named characters is Badblud Irongit. My guys' main rivals are a horde of Skaven. They just love bashing rats and shit.

Occasionally they steal some of the Skaven's warpstone and hammer it into their armor as trophies. Some of the older, more hardened veterans wear a relatively large amount of warpstone into battle. Thus, they are constantly harassed by chaotic corruption, but because of Orruky constitution, it just ends up annoying them and making them fightier.

No warscrolls, but there is a battlereport. I haven't read it all properly yet, but here are some things I can see:

Hrmm.
Lots of shooting, most of it okay and Grungson's Boast being *very* good.
With Suercharged Harness upping his melee damage to 3 and Champion of of Barak-Nar allwoing him to reroll 1s to hit and wound against heroes and monsters he packs a pretty nasty punch, too.
The ability to not take up spots in a transport is expected and causing mortal wounds on the charge is good, but hardly inspired.
The command ability allowing all Kharadron units within 18" to run and charge is nice, too.
And a pretty solid statwheel, too.

He's pretty beastly. One very good gun, two decent support pieces and a amazing melee weapon make him dangerous at range and in melee, especially with those rerolls. Coupled with good wounds and save as well as a 12" Fly move he's a great troubleshooter. With all that damage he should be able to put most monsters in the ground in short order.
The enormous command bubble is also pretty kickass. Dorfs on foot tend to be slow and while I don't doubt the ships compensate for that somewhat, it'll still help speed up the army.

I think 300 might be too low, he will probably be 360 to 400 points. He does more damage than Settra, has a great command ability, and can use transports so he can't be sniped before he chooses to engage. He only has 8 wounds but he does a lot of damage and has a huge threat range.

They were among the worst selling armies, most GW stores barely stocked them, if at all. And I mean the worst selling, new releases made no difference. Some armies were REALLY unsupported and still sold better. We had the same 5 kits sitting on the shelves for nearly a year and we never got them as restocks.

We've been thinking that some of them might sell, we do occasionally have people come in and ask for them, but I'd bet money its one of those things that people only want them because theyre gone.

You charge up the suit the moment you move in and have a 66% chance to gain Damage 3. Unless you spend the entire game fighting an assload of monsters you'll seldomly use that more than twice a game, so odds are still in your favor.
And with 8 wounds he can endure the 16% chance to suffer a mortal wound quite well.

Monsters are pretty common in the meta. The only lists that don't use them are Kunnin Rukks, shooting Stormcast

Seraphon, Highborne, Tzeentch, and Beastclaw are not going anywhere. Bloodthirsters are probably going to be super common after Blades of Khorne is released.

Remember that it also lets you reroll against Heroes, and there are tons of those in every list. Even lists that use a single hero you can still get value from his reroll ability.

In a worst case scenario you get bogged down with a unit that isn't a hero/monster but you still hit like a truck, just less reliably.

Oh, I totally agree, but I mean how many Monsters will he have to kill each game? Two, maybe three? Against all other heroes the Damage d3 swing should be plenty when coupled with his charge and shooting, so no need to power him up.
I also feel like you should keep a frigate near him to provide firesupport and let him bail if he's threatened to be bogged down. I mean, assuming the rules work like we suspect they will.

I dunno, I'm just envisioning him up against a Spiderfang Venom Mob. And while he would be able to beat down one Arachnarok, I can just as easily seeing him getting mired down either by the cavalry or falling to the second of three. Then again, the Venom Mob might not be the best case for him, given how much they like to drown a bastard in Mortal Wounds. Hell, a fully-buffed unit of 10 Spider Riders averages 10 Mortal Wounds a combat.

So you're saying that a Tomb Scorpion wouldn't accurate represent a Nerubian on the table? Y'know, the giant bug monsters whose entire schtick is burrowing ambushes? And while a Tomb Swarm models is a fuckton smaller than a Crypt Fiend, the swarm is still a 50mm round which is the proper size if you just wanted a single model on that base instead. Hell, if you really wanted to, you could toss in Carrion and the Necrosphinx into the mix, and just waggle your fingers and say "Their flying is actually representing their ability to burrow beneath the sands. Mechanically, it's the same thing."

Crypt Lord can shoot spikes from underground to impale enemies and stun them, has chitinous spiked carapace that reflects melee damage, summon a swarm of locust to deal damage and return to heal the user, and summons swarms of beetles.

Crypt Stalkers throw small beetles as a ranged attack and have a web wrap that roots enemies and brings flyers to the ground.

None of this is currently represented in Tomb Scorpions or Tomb Swarms, both are which are just simple melee units that can deploy off the board. These two units seem like they could easily fit into a new faction of undead insects, much like how Ardboyz fit into Ironjawz.

I'm not suggesting that they copy the nerubians 1:1, but having a faction of undead insects would be cool and fits a niche in terms of aesthetics and gameplay.
