As far as my guesses:
#11 is kharadron overlords (not going to confirm until they show the sprues)
#13 is perhaps Mortation's base
#14 is from the Death Guard marine kits (not going to confirm until they show more pictures)
#17 is some 40k terrain, perhaps from the shadow war box?
#18 is rumored aelves

Is the Clan Skryre battalion worth 200 points?

The various enginecoven abilities seem neat, but you'll generally only get 2 at 2000 points, and giving up 10% of your list for them seems like a hefty tax.

>>

Sure, the two big ships are transports, you can put more dudes in there than the max, but it fucks with the movement.

Balloon guys don't add to the limit because they just get dragged along.

There's also different bonuses for different cloud cities, done through battalions.
>>

rumours, the sole reason anyone thinks that we're getting elves next in the first place
>>
>>52357905
The thing i fear the most, that it will be a complete new range. I hate that. they should recycle the old ranges and do not abandon them. The Overlord should get the copters and a few other duardin. Maybe some stuff from the ironweld arsenal. But no - all new.
And now i think we'll get "deep one aelves" and the more medicore corsairs stay their old faction...

I can't decide for my tzaangor colour scheme.
When it comes to armour I'm ripped between box-art turquoise one, black+gold form pyrofane cult and violet-cheery with gold trims (my own idea).
When it comes to skin I wanted to make grey priming, fast white drybrush and use mix of washes and glazes to make all kind of skintones, form blue to green, blue and purple. My other idea was to fully replicate scheme of Pyrofane Cult (pink tzaangor skin and black+gold armour).

What to do?

It's not a fantasy Anon - it's high fantasy. But to be serious - it's all about a taste. IMO they are one step from kitsch but this is what makes them neat. They are like Injustice comic book - bad to the point where they become great
>>
>>52354310
Don't use Devoted of Sigmar. Use the special characters in Freeguild. Those are untouched legacy units that only exist as figments of the past and thus use the original rules for Warrior Priests allowing you to target anything in your army. The Devoted of Sigmar got an updated tweak where now all of their prayers and the like only benefit other Devoted of Sigmar.

You'll want Luthor or Volkmar, not a regular ole Warrior Priest.
>>
super pumped about Aelves.

>>52358734
these are awesome too
>>
>>52357955
It's possible to field the entire army as nothing but flying cogfops high in the air on their flying bases, completely invalidating any and all melee units that aren't the size of an Arachnarok or Chimera.
>>
>>52359230
>it's high fantasy.
High fantasy doesn't mean incoherency
>they are one step from kitsch but this is what makes them neat.
How exactly?
>>
Newfag with potentially dumb question: Is there a general rule on how many points you should put into heros? Like eg. 200 at 1000 points, 400 at 2000 points? I'm asking because 1) I see a lot of heros grant huge synergistic benefits even if they're not the general and 2) some leaders riding behemoths are over 400 points (presumably for use mainly in 2500 point game? but I guess you could even run them at 1000, lel)

Or if there's no general rule then how many points do you personally spend on HQ dudes at 1000 and 2000?

>incoherency
>>
>>52359475

It totally depends on your faction, and what the rest of your list is.
>>
>>52359230
And where is high fantasy on this picture?
>>
>>52359475
it really depends on the faction of your army, some armies are better off with more heroes, others less.

as a general rule don't try to max out your leader slots unless by doing so you actually make your army better. Lots, maybe even most, of the leaders in the game are not worth the points they cost.
>>
>>52359475
>Spiderfang Grots
380 at 1000 points, 940 at 2000.
>Freeguild
100 at 1000 points, 100 at 2000 though I've toyed around with up to 280.

The main reason for those numbers is the Spiderfangs will always need a Shaman and a Big Boss, and up at 2000 you'll want to take the battalion that requires 3 Arachnaroks and the Flingers are simply worthless. Having at least 2 of the bastards gives redundancy and lets you cast all three spells, and unbind like a motherfucker. And you may as well make the third a shaman just to give yourself a variety of origins for the unique spell. Meanwhile the Freeguild has a shitton of internal synergy and the General is mostly there for his Command Ability and the purposes of unlocking the battalions. The 280 is room for Engineers for war machines and Volkmar/Luthor for prayers and unbinding.

It's highly dependent both upon the army you play and the way in which you play them. Synergy is literally everything in AoS so if you're playing a faction like Spiderfangs that need the Big Boss to buff their to hits to unlock spider venom on 4+ and the shaman to double the Mortal wounds, you're gonna have a lot. If you mostly just use 'em for Stand and Fire and unlocking formations, you're gonna use much fewer, potentially supported by something to unbind or to support war machines if you take them.

So wat this big adepticon reveal was nothing just some shitty board game, does anyone actually give a shit?

>>
>>52359479
What's wrong? All new armies (Sylvaneths, fireslayers, SCE, Ironjaws, Bloodbound, Tzeench) sets setting as some high mythical fantasy, and then they've dropped fully high-tech faction (not just some mysterious mechanisms like Slann's ships) and make it looks like another average "let's mix everything"-setting
>>
Let's say I need a tiny shoulder dragon for conversion purposes. Are there any reasonable options? Preferably from GW, but not necessarily. I recall that some Dark Elf model had a dragon on its shoulder, but it was molded in and impossible to remove basically.
>>
>>52359603
Then what makes you think it's high fantasy, not renamed Pacific Rim concept?
>>
So what is the night goblin fluff now?
>>
>>52359617
Sure buddy. Never at all there was in AoS lots of guns, steampunk and other mechanisms. The Overlords just use it more than others, but it's literally the same as whining that Tzeentch is incoherent because it uses lots of magic while Fireslayers, Bloodbound, Beastclaws and SCE don't use it.
>>
>>52359625
The treelord kit has a load of spites filling in all the spare room on the sprue. One of those might do, with a little bit of work.
>>
>>52359495
>>52359543

I see. I'm having difficulty deciding what to do but I guess I'll just figure it out as I go. It just seems weird to make a potential list and then realize it's almost entirely made up of infantry and behemoths and there's only 1 leader or something.

>>52359590

I love the direction they've taken everything so far and I wanted to see these alleged "Shadow Aelves".

There was so much hype and now it's been like three threads of everyone obsessing over/fetishizing the one monopose female Stormcast they revealed for yet another SCE vs. BB box set.

All we've gotten are tidbits of information on the new Kharadron rules, that's it.

The Stormcast, while superhuman physically, are still very human emotionally. The new City of Secrets book focuses on a witch hunter and an empire soldier, while the Stormcast are trreated as suitably alien and powerful. AoS is getting a human level to it, of only recently.

Nah sometimes you get to see the one Skaven clan that exists whose goal is essentially a Crash bandicoot/DBZ tier quest to fix the 13 magical muffins which they'll never do

Sometimes you get to star-lizards who bleed sunlight and shit rainbows But they can't do anything without the help of Superhuman sigmarines and their guidance

And to be fair you DO get some really interesting Goblin and Elf Lor-rrhhppffthhahahaHAHAHAHAH

If you like Nurgle, you can also go with Nurgle Daemons - idiot-proof, newbie-friendly, can be used in AoS and 40k both
>>
>>52361462

See, that's why I liked the idea of Pestilens and Bloodbound. I could expand out to their respective gods' other armies.

I don't mind cross-compatibilty with 40k, I don't plan to play it anymore.
>>
>>52361478
Pure Pestilens are okay - don't have a lot of options but are easy to collect. Shame that their battletome is an "old generation" one but they are not bad.

Khornes are not the best faction right now but are cheap, have a lot of options and new battletome will give use a lot of new ways to play I hope. Go with the blood god I say
>>
>>52361288
Yes that's how it works if you use the retarded measuring from model-to-model method. If you go base measuring, it does not become an issue.

You know the dilemma if a normal foot soldier not being able to touch archaon? Well that issue goes away when you do base-to-base measuring. It's an issue that doesn't come up in tournaments or events.

So you can proceed to bitch about it because you use the stupid model-to-model measuring, meanwhile the rest of us are going to find it a non-issue while doing base-to-base measuring.
>>
>>52361573
To be fair, base-to-base can be just as retarded in other instances. Like the fact that a mob of grots can charge a flying airship that may as well be fifty to a hundred feet above them. And if you don't think that gor punching a zeppelin to death is retarded, I have news for you. You're retarded.
>>
>>52361615

So instead there should be models that some entire FACTIONS just can't hurt?
>>
>>52361440
Then, I'd neither pick Skaven nor Grots, as horde armies are sometimes frustrating to paint.

But still, if you like their aesthetic more than the rest, go for it!

>>
>>52361687
They're not much flesh (except for reavers)
>>
>>52361685
That's not the point. Just about every faction has ranged weapons and behemoths, but many are very limited in their choices of them. To say it should be this way is the same level of 40k meta retardation.

Base to base measuring literally evens the playing field against this kind of stuff. And I plan to collect kharadron overlords and see why letting grots punch the ships by being base to base with it is a better option than going "neener neener neener you can't touch me!"

They are an afterthought. And that's actually good news. 2 5 (wo)man units is way better, they can buff each other and/or both of your other units. Combined with the Spellweaver they can be really hard to remove. They do get a bonus as a unit of 10 but it's better to do 2x5 imo.

Also I run 2 heroes at 1k as well sometimes, except I go with Nomad Prince and Spellweaver usually (sometimes I use the exact same combo you are using, it works fine). You will have problems with some armies with that few units, but it should be okay. When you go above 1000 points I'd note that Sisters of the Watch and Sisters of the Thorn both work really well with 20-man Eternal Guard blocks as a "fuck you, this is my objective now" sort of thing. Especially if the Spellweaver is also nearby to restore dead people.

Wimpy little cowards. Get the shit bit out of you by spiders, and then you'll be fearless enough to survive. Though a good big boss always smartly values his life over every other grots.

>>52362208
Like I said upthread, the amount of heroes is entirely dependent on the army. I would never even consider running Spiderfang without both the shaman and big boss at 1k, while I'd never consider running more than just a General with my theoretical Renegade Freeguild at 1k.

I honestly can't offer much help with Wanderers, but I'd suspect that you'd want to just run one unit of 10. You're only going to be able to cast Shield of Thorns once, no matter how many units of Sisters of the Thorn you have, so you might as well get the buff to your casting at the same time.

A fair portion of these 'super human khornate warriors' they're fighting are literally just barbarian humans that became khornate canibals so they wouldn't get killed.

Only Dorfs, Empire still was in 15-16 (probably early 17) mostly + some crazy DaVinci-like tech (tanks, old flying crossbowmens).
>"Heimdaller" is black is literally the only thing I know about marvels norse shit anyway.
Well city of Asgard builded around planetoid and populated by super-humans (well technically they are aliens, but still looks like humans) in golden armor.

How exactly, especially when in some interview authors said they were inspired by New Gods and Tales of Asgard.

Where do you live, Atlanta? I can't imagine anywhere in the Southeast outside of that urban shithole that Moonklan would receive anything other than laughs. And I don't have the army, just considered it as a future expansion when I finish with Spiderfang -- only really have to get two more Arachnaroks for that -- and my Renegade Freeguild. The inspiration came from a buddy of mine from college who had exactly that as an army back when I played Fantasy.

>>
Are Skaven hard to paint?
>>
>>52363152
no, you can get away with lots of drybrushing and washes and the broken and tarnished look they've got going on makes it really easy to hide any fuckups.
>>
>>52363152
not at all. You've got a few main textures:

cloth: wash then layer
skin: wash then layer
fur: drybrush or wash
metal: wash then weather or drybrush or whatever

then just some details to pick out like the eyes and teeth and you're sorted. There are some great tutorials online.
>>
>>52363152
No, but you want to fucking kill yourself for painting an horde army

I wanna play either Khorne Bloodbound or Beastmen, but they're both too hard to paint well. Beastmen are all flesh and fur which is a kick in the dick to paint large amounts of, and KBB are covered in finicky little details.

AoS has shit lore, deal with it.

That's a problem? I also should probably give some fortifications around the watchtowers, I had that in my mind, but forgot to actually do it.

Then may be around bridges?

Try the dip method from army painter. You paint everything a flat base colour and use their special shading stuff, followed by a matt varnish.
>>
>>52363398
>as bland
define "bland" and how Mortal Realms less bland.
>mass-marketable
Isn't it what GW (or any other large company) doing?
>>
>>52363363
>>52363386
Yeah, I'd go with this, anon. Instead of seperating the watchtowers and the bridges, just make Bridge-Castles. Or perhaps one true Bridge-Castle in the center and flank it with a northern and southern Bridge-Tower. Actually historic fortification, and they're dope as fuck.
>>
>>52363447
I was trying to go for more of a 'frontier town' kinda thing, Since there are good natural defence(River) already. I may also be biased because I was making the lore for my beasties.
>>
>>52363481
>Since there are good natural defence(River) already.
Yeah with 2 open passages.
Also, if SCE were deployed the place already important enough to have proper fortification system.
>>
>>52363481
Yes, but why would the Freeguild go to the effort to establish a pair of bridges and then secure them with a trio of watchtowers that could pretty easily be both cut-off and sieged or simply circumvented? Especially given that they are primarily watching over spooky haunted forests against quick-moving Beastmen raiders. Only the southernmost watch tower would likely be able to see danger from far enough to get word out.

If instead you merge bridges and watchtowers into a single fortification, the Freeguild could simply defend two or three spots rather than five. I doubt the beastmen are stupid enough to simply follow the roads and never consider going around the watchtower rather than through it.

There's also no reason you can't have a "frontier town" vibe with bridge-castles. Just make them wooden and slightly more primitive if you don't want stone fortifications.

To be fair, I've just started Age of Sigmar and know very little of the fluff. I thought that having the only land entrances being fortified bridges a wee bit tough to get though for any raiding force (Which is obviously good for Free People, but then leaves any non-Free People faction as literal NPCs waiting to be killed beyond those gates) though maybe the wooden fortifications would be a middle-man. I'm also using Inkarnate.com for the map, so I'm pretty limited in resources for the map. How's this look?
>>
>>52363674
You realize Moonman started in 2006 and fully took off in 2007, right? That's actually years before I started playing Fantasy.
>>
>>52363784

Except it wasn't associated with racist elements until 2015. Stop digging your lie deeper senpai. Own up to it.
>>
I like AoS's lore. It's extremely open and allows me to fit my dudes anywhere and in anyway I see fit.
>>
>>52363740
What is the purpose of the road that goes into the woods? Why did you go from two bridges and three towers to a single castle-bridge if you wanted to make the Freeguild more vulnerable? Just starting isn't really an excuse either, since the fluff is a fat steaming pile of shit that you mostly just make up as you go. As is, though, your Freeguild were basically just literal NPCs waiting to be killed. If you had 2-3 castle-bridges you would have a relatively defensible border that could still be attacked or simply avoided with a direct river crossing.

He's right, duder. Moonman as a racist image goes back to the days of ytmnd. It's where it all started.

Yes, Moonman as an image goes back to the McD's commercials. Moonman as a musician goes back to 2006 on ytmnd. Moonman as a racist image goes back to 2007 on ytmnd. And recently, the racist meme took off and surged brighter than ever before.

Why wouldn't you suspect them being shit at balance when they have a track record of being shit at balance?
