Despite the game being what it is, there's been very little shipping. I think most of the PCs are just poorly equipped for it. Half of them are geared for monster rape and the other half are geared for monster hunting.

How do scrolls work, exactly? I understand to use a scroll, I must make a UMD check of 20 + CL of the scroll.

If the scroll is on my spell list, then I do not need to make the UMD check (20 + CL), right? What if it is a CL 3 scroll and my current caster level is 1? I remember someone at the table mentioning making a caster level check for a scroll that was CL 6 when they were CL 2. What if I multiclass (say cleric 1 / Wizard 2), would my CL be 3 or would it be 1/2 depending if it is an arcane/divine scroll/spell?

Your only hope is spamming boosts and counters. Really, aside from the autism of wanting magus on your sheet like I have there's no real reason to EVER play a magus, especially in a gestalt game with initiating. Gestalts with stuff like Aegis in it are quite good, and they're not necessarily nightmares; most Astral Suit setups are going to be your usual 'default' that you rarely swap out of, and even if you swap it's a temporary reconfiguration or the like. So you can mark most of it down practically the same way (include the CPt cost of course, and place it together so it's easy to find and work through) you would other clusters of class abilities.

Is it okay for me to say who I would ship my character with? I'd ship Amelli with Sage or Bon-Bon if we yuri, and Lusicus or Lysander if we don't. She swings both ways. Amelli miiight a Sigmund if he were younger, but he was probably a different man when he was younger.

I think ultimately what Amelli really needs in a partner is someone who can help anchor her, someone stable in such a chaotic world. First, no matter whether the scroll is of a spell on your list or not, you need to decipher the scroll. You can't cast a scroll you can't read, after all. But deciphering is easy. You can do it with a Spellcraft check (DC 20+spell level) or you can just cast Read Magic. Once you've deciphered the scroll, you can try to actually activate it any time.

If the scroll matches your type of casting (as in arcane/divine/psychic), is of a spell on your list, and your casting ability score is high enough to cast spells on that level, you can cast it without a check as long as your caster level is equal or higher to the scroll's. If your ability score isn't high enough for spells of that level, you have to succeed on a UMD check against a DC of (15+the necessary ability score to cast spells of that level). If you don't have the spell on your list or a high enough ability score, you have to make both checks.

So in that scenario, no UMD needed. But you do need a CL check. Your bonus is your CL in that class.

This spell functions as black tentacles, except that the tentacles don't deal any damage. Instead, when the tentacles succeed in grappling a creature or succeed on a grapple check in following rounds, the tentacles attempt a steal combat maneuver against that creature using the same CMD.

Each time the tentacles attempt a steal combat maneuver, they attempt to steal a random item, in order of priority from loosely tucked items, to fastened items, to closely worn items. The tentacles can steal closely worn items (such as rings or garments) at +10 to the foe's CMD. Even items such as armor can be removed. Items that would normally take multiple rounds or longer to don gain the broken condition when stolen in this way.

Items stolen by the tentacles are dropped to the ground in the creature's space, but the creature can't retrieve any of these items while grappled by the tentacles, and any creature that attempts to retrieve them is subject to immediate attack by the tentacles.

What we have here wasn't a list chosen because of only composition autism. It strikes me as strange that someone would put two pretty boys no one talks about on their list when /pfg/ always complains about them.

The truth is that this list was also considering shipping! The characters were chosen with baisc consideration towards their mechanical aspects, but the only autism stronger than that is shipper autism.

Let me explain: The culprit at X:15 was asked who they wanted to play with in Legacy. At X:31, they were afraid of shilling their character. This is most likely because they had an identity in the thread. After being encouraged to name five they'd like to play with, they listed Tarani, Shanan, Iuni, Sakara and Aida. These characters were listed in order of posting at X:43, making it extremely likely that the culprit only went through them then.

Keeping in mind the format of this game, I propose that the culprit did not look through the sheets, but instead identified basic class roles and general bullet points. Otherwise, it would normally be suspicious to consider incomplete sheets. So we need to establish the criteria these characters were picked on.

We do not however need to go through every member of the list. The point of attention is the two boys chosen. Shanan and Tarani are both pure martials. At a glance, one is STR based and one is DEX based, but they share more similarities than you'd think! Both are native to Katapesh, have a history of flirting, and protective of people around them. They are in fact, not just boys, BUT HUSBANDOS.

While many players would want to pursue waifus, virtually no players would pursue husbandos. EXCEPT ONE.

Gamze bint-Samiri is in fact, the only character that acknowledges the prospect of marriage in her profile! As an easily flustered caster with a competitive spirit, her natural predator are devilishly handsome flirty warriors!

I think the series places the burden of proof on the defense-it's why Wright consistently has to not only exonerate his client, but prove what actually happened.

I'm actually vaguely disillusioned with Cartomancer since it deprives me of a cute familiar and only gives the benefit of being able to make ranged touch attacks to deliver spells. Her interest in dank card games also seems to give the feeling that she doesn't quite belong in the setting.

What are some good archetypes for a well-raised girl from a proper merchant family?

Witch-Watcher from Heroes of the High Court seems like it has potential, but I'm not sure how much diminished spellcasting hurts the vanilla Witch.

The Japanese legal system is hard-fucked; not as bad as Phoenix Wright makes it out to be, but it's extremely anti-accused. You're guilty until your lawyer can prove you innocent, which is why a lot of people who previously were in entertainment (such as voice actors and musicians) basically drop off the face of the earth if they ever get arrested; to the legal system of Japan, and thus the Japanese public, they've shamed themselves simply by being accused, let alone what their crime actually is or if they're guilty.

What I do know of the Japanese legal system is that you don't want to make it to the trial. That whole scene in their various series where one is talking to the cops at the station, that's because one is generally let go and at worst fined unless they're really unrepentant or did something serious, AND there's enough to make it an open and shut case.

From what I know, you basically won't be sent to trial unless they're sure you deserve it, because once there it's all but "and now let's move to sentencing"

Is Alchemist VMC a must? You could stay Cartographer and grab a Wizard VMC for the familiar. I don't really think the dank card games are as big a strike as reviewanon does personally, especially not for a trader's daughter.

it's not the card games, but more precisely Harrow specifically, which is really just a Varisia thing. the DM has given license to make some modifications to the lore, I think you could invent a card game on your own. its coupled with the fact that the paradox of her family still exist, that is, they wanted children enough to adopt her but then they don't take care of her?

well it probably wouldn't be a witch in the first place, it would more likely be a wizard. but then her merchant family background doesn't have anything to do with the class - witches learn their magic from vague entities with a familiar as the middleman. cartomancer replaced the familiar with a harrow deck and, indeed, this is what you seem to imply taught gamze her magic. but then she didn't have to be a merchant for that to happen.

I am really fucking torn for legacy of blood. Either way I am going to have a family sword but I am stuck between three paths for what the sword means. Each option is tied to the character's race The options are the following:

>Ifrit
The character would actually appear human. The connection as a Ifrit was made because one of his ancestors made a contract with a Salamander and forged the sword.

>Human
Sword is a symbol of their family as a lost branch of the nobility. The character wouldn't know any of the details of what happened and why.

>Half-orc
The sword would be inherited from the orcish side of the family and be a symbol of a clan that was forced into exile and seclusion.

That's a shame. The bit with the cards was one of the few things I actually liked about the character.

The flavor of the Harrow deck specifically doesn't work super well, but the idea of a lonely kid coming into contact with an occult entity simply through studying the patterns in a frivolous game is pretty cool.

Though, if you're taking my advice and developing the mundane vs. mystical angle, then I'd suggest this archetype:

well I would still find it hard to believe its popular enough in katapesh to be playing it in the square with a bunch of people as the app describes. although that's also a separate issue because my understanding is you do not "play" Harrow in the same way you would not "play" a tarot deck. it's a fortune telling tool.

Human or ifrit sounds best. If the game actually ends up dealing with genies, there's probably a stronger argument for ifrit, as they might end up meeting someone connected with those who forged the sword.

On the other hand, that idea could just as easily happen with a human as an ifrit, so take my suggestion with a grain of salt.
