If your Primarch isn't named "Jagathai" or "Dorn", then he ain't got shit on Sanguinius.
Especially because he was on Ultramar and crossed hell (twice) to reach Terra, so Robert and Johnson have no excuse.

If you want to, don't say he's the best. Just say there are other 15+ who are worse than him.
>>
>>52289838
>Quad Launcher Support Batteries became more expensive, but gained access to several extra munitions besides their Frag shells with Shell Shock for increased chance of Pinning: good old Shatter shells to deal with medium AV with their four S8 Sunder shots, Incendiary Shells that are weaker frag shells that Ignore Cover Saves, Splinter Shells with S2 AP4 Rending, because FW apparently thinks small blasts that wound on a six cost +10pts (even Frag shells have a higher chance of wounding termies). But the mort powerful munitions they have access to are Phosphex canister shots, available if you have a Siege Breaker in your force. Unlike regular phosphex however these munitions are only AP3, but otherwise still function as regular phosphex ammo and are superb marine woodchippers.
Not really, no

I would place them below Sanguinius, but the Angel, weeping, told me he'd much prefer sharing Numbered Mistake #1 with his beloved brothers: Dorn of the Mighty Handshakes and Jagathai of the Bantz.
Even if he did fight Horus where his brothers didn't, he recognizes the labour done by Dorn's fortification and Jagathai's tenacity when taking the Spaceport
Such was the Angel's will.

Hey guys, can I get a list check? I want a White Scars list that's relatively quick, but working independently from spacecraft or a home base so no drop pods or flyers. Tried to spend plenty of points on non-bike units; the two vet squads are objective holders, the guys with flamers (straight outta Chondax) go for forward objectives, missile launcher guys try to shoot down planes. But I think I need to work some lascannons into the list.

White Scars (3000pts)
RoW: Chogorian Brotherhood

Praetor on Bike (225pts)
>Cyber-hawk, Digital Lasers, Iron Halo, Melta Bombs, Plasma Pistol, Mastercrafted Power Glaive

Silly loyalists

+He is no primarch,+ came Argel Tal’s voice in Khârn’s mind. The centurion’s first instinct was to shudder. The Nails bit harder, hotter, in the wake of the psychic whisper; they hurt more every time. Khârn looked back to his brother, where Argel Tal was directing his own men into their own gunships and drop pods.
He is my primarch, Khârn replied, with no idea if Argel Tal could hear him. Sometimes the silent speech worked, sometimes it didn’t.
+A primarch should be inspiring. Our genetics should react at the mere sight of them. Think of the moments you laid eyes on Horus, Dorn, or Magnus. I’ve seen Sanguinius and Russ with my own eyes, as well. Close enough to touch their armour. Think of when you stand before Lorgar: the awe and reverence that beats through your blood. The feeling of our genetic coding reacting to the pinnacle of the human process. I’ve never felt that instinctive respect for Angron, Khârn. Not once. He is a broken thing. Devastating, unrivalled in war, but broken.+
Khârn didn’t answer because there was nothing to say. He boarded his drop pod, ascending the ramp and waiting for a robed Legion slave to secure his restraint harness.
+You feel it,+ Argel Tal said. +You feel it, too.+
In psychic silence, Khârn confessed something he’d never said outside his Legion.
Yes, we feel the same. The World Eaters, each and every one of us, knows what you know.
Argel Tal’s voice was laced with cold, seething anger. +Why do you tolerate it?+
What can we do? Murder our own father? Did you destroy Lorgar when he led you into worshipping the Emperor? Or did you tolerate him in patience, hoping that eventually he’d find his way to equalling his brothers?
>>
>>52290658

Tank Commander cannot be Compulsory. See 'Support Officer' rule. He also can't be in a Medusa (not on the list of options).

Dozer Blades are useless on our tanks, as we all have Explorator Adaption from the get go.

What are the Ogryn going to be doing? Their Stormlord transport often wants to stay put for more shots, and these guys want to get close... Better off with a Squad of 6 then 2x3 for points reasons.

Medusa - Lose the Dozers

Stormlord wants Sponsons

Do you not face flyers at all where you play? Like, 0? Cause even 1 is basically immune to most of your list.

They're not more game breaking than Legio Cybernetica.

Its your own fault if you lose the game vs Custodes, I mean they have like 2-3 objective grabbers and you outnumber them 2:1 so there's really no excuse not to grab more objectives than they can contest.
>>
>>52291856
You seem inappropriately hostile/buttmad/confused

Stop trying to fight them in melee. They got no assault vehicles and too few units to score. Just play the objective game.

Also tank shock often to herd them away/remove them automatically.

A few ships actually escaped and presumably joined the traitors. Most of them stayed when it was clear that the Khan wasn't joining Horus - they thought he would. He might've, too, if he hadn't found Magnus's shard to talk to and find out about Horus's corruption.

The Khan killed the ones who had sworn a blood oath to Horus after they refused to break it. Wasn't many, but it included a lot of khans (company leaders). The rest were told to go away and do do something useful in the process of getting themselves killed. Was it half? Seems like it can't have been that many, but going back through the novels I don't see a firm number.

Someone remembered my mad ramblings? I'm flattered.

And I did think of something like a Harridan or Heirophant, and maybe I'd use the latter if I ever made a giant Mechanicum crawler or something, but they're allowed via a different section of the boxout, so they'd have to be Imperial. Sadly, noone has yet domesticated any Tyranids for me to pattern my madness off :(.

On the upside, I've discovered that the sides of a Knight would make for excellent Railgun (Glaive Volkite carronade, but Heavy Railgun stats) mounts, since the curve on them lets me easily fit them into the gun bays. Just need to make a socket for the square railgun rather than the circular Knight shoulders.

Slowly collecting bits and ideas, once I'm done with painting my 40kmech I'll have about £150 to blow on toys straight up, which should either get me the framework of the Filiketos MK2 or enough kits for a decent groundbound force. Six Castys, couple Magi and Thallax cohorts. It's so hard to resist the temptation to be sensible.

Thanks. I like that name, I think I'll keep it. Not here, obviously, because 4chan, but I need something to put in the "Project start/end" notes. Currently looking for suitable deckplates for the top, lots in the GW terrain but it's all very particular shapes.

Sadly, my foes have no deepstriking fortifications to aid them in kind.
Why aren't those a thing? Just a Aegis line Quadgun or Lascannon, or a Tarantula in a mini drop pod, rain them down where you need support. Pod then doubles as a bunker for the rest of the squad.

Honestly, the Manta will probably spend more time as terrain than on the table.
>>
>>52293400
>or a Tarantula in a mini drop pod
You can deepstrike those as SA/IM, I think, and Castellums & Aegis lines are said to be capable of being airlifted to position.
Too bad forts as such cannot deepstrike in game. I'd love me some assault Castellums

I think the Mech can also drop in Tarantulas, I was thinking that it would have a mini Bastion attatched, just for lols.

Alternate Arvus Lighter carry option, like the automata ones, for an Aegis line with one of the weapons/Ammo dump/reserves relay? Fly in, then instead of disembarking move the Arvus within a 6" radius circle of the starting position in whatever directions you like, leaving segments of line/the gun wherever you pass over? Wouldn't be very meta. but dropping a line over the Plasma Supps that just got blasted out their Rhino would look cool as hell.
>>
>>52293452
Mechanicum Upgrades, just teleport the damn things down from the barges, no living matter to mess with the transfer either.

You'd think the Imperial Fists would have figured out how to use the monstrous teleport arrays on the Phalanx to just teleport their troops along with fortifications into ready made fortified positions.
>>
How would you improve this list? I'm working towards it atm, I have most of the infantry and a few vehicles. Ferrus, the 3 terminators, and the forge lord can all fit in the land raider. The Tartaros will be helpful for deliverer squads, and the Mark IIIs are mostly getting turned into a pair of breacher squads for Zone Mortalis.

Anyone used the shapeways shields and can give an opinion or useful tips on fitting them to the Mk III? (No hand version)
>>
>>52294043
Rhinos for the vets and tactical supports are probably a good idea. 5 dudes with expensive weapons tend to be gunned down in short order. Remember, you don't *have* to outflank your tanks in that rite, they can start on the table keeping your infantry safe.

Maybe stick a chainfist in the terminator command squad. Ferrus is better than most at dealing with unexpected dreadnoughts in melee, but it doesn't hurt to be sure.

Can you fit Castrman Orth in? Orth in a sicaran venator is a fucking war crime on wheels. Treads. Whatever.

Anyway, the reason I have the forge lord is I'm using my Iron Father model for him. I'm using him as Autek Mor in lower points games as my HQ. I figured that here it'd be nice to have a model without bulky to fit into the command squad to take that last slot up. I could definitely just get Orth though as my HQ, giving me back 45 points I can use to invest in a chainfist or two, maybe a havoc launcher for my cortus, and some other bits and bobs like meltabombs and dozer blades. Putting him in the venator does sound hilarious, 2d6 take highest with a reroll for pen.

Maru Skara: You can have your entire army in your enemy's face by turn 2 if you use Fulgrim, if not then having all your killier bits show up turn 2 is still very strong. Essentially better than any drop pod armies.

Ironfire: Its a better gunline that pushes your troops forward so you're not as susceptible to getting fucked up by drop pod lists but you're still weak to them. Precise artillery out the ass will always be good.

Drop Assault Vanguard: Same reason as Maru Skara, getting the majority of your dudes into a place where and when you want them to be is priceless, the added protection is just icing on the cake.

Ravenwing: Better, killier, scoring Jetbikes? Can potentially be great.

Armored Breakthrough: Your troops are immune to infantry and kill tanks, everything's fast and you basically get extra heavy support slots. It can also make the game into a binary situation where you most likely will lose if your opponent brings enough anti-tank but if he doesnt then you will probably win.

Personally I really dislike POTL since the nerfs. Needing to have more troops than tanks is managable, but giving away 2 VP when all your veterans and/or terminators die is ... rough. That's like a free objective, and means your veterans are covered in bullseyes in kill missions.

Background from the founding up to the HH, but no Luther and no Fallen because that happens later. So no stats for them. The wings will have rules (I'd say they just add some RoW and keep the current ones) and there should be archaeotech. The Lion probably has stats&rules.
Having one close combat unit and one special weapon unit would be fitting.
The book will contain Blood Angels, Demons and Midnight Clad guys so I would not be surprised if the book contains less than what I wrote.

All the wings? That would mean giving them something like 6 special rites of war, which seems a bit much.

>>
>>52295670
I know it's unlikely as they said something about daemons being the same everywhere, but I harbour a faint hope that FW might bandaid some of the issues with deamons when they do angelus. Stuff like bloodletters only having 1 attack, bloodcrushers having paper armour for some reason, and the lore of tzeentch being one of the worst psychic lores in the game. And the warpflame rule of course, with how commonplace apothecaries are it's even sillier in 30k.
>>
>>52295719
they told so. But it could be that they do not cover all wings at once and wait for book 10 and 12 for the rest. Look at the other legions, they started in one book and got updates in 1-3 other books.

Depends on how pro gamer you want to be. And how new games you want to play.

I have a bunch of unassembled Blood Angels stuff. Can you guys tell me what among it would be HH legal or at least passable for counts-as?

The list is..

Captain
Death Conpany Chaplain
Sanguinary Priest
The Sanguinor
20 BA Tactical Marines
15 Death Company
10 Sanguinary Guard
10 Vanguard Veterans
5 Assault Marines
3 Furioso/Death Company/Librarian Dreadnaughts
1 Venerable Dreadnaught
3 drop pods
1 Fire Raptor
3 Knight Titans

And 10 BA Assault Terminators but iirc Indomitus pattern came after the Heresy?
>>
>>52297754
Dark Angels dreadwing is supposedly known for that - but they've only appeared in Black Library books. We have to wait until Angelus to see them.
>>
Thoughts on my list?
>>
>>52297992
as i said last time, perty has no place in this list, he actively inhibits it by chewing through enough points to almost get a warhound. Bring either an assault list with artillery support or a proper gunline, half-assing both like this means a boring game for you and a boring curbstomp for your opponent
>>
>>52297974

Field whatever you like as long as you play by the 30k rules, but know that your army will stand out for the wrong reasons.
>>
>>52298093
That's where I don't particularly agree, What about this list isn't sufficiently assualty? Are you suggesting that I remove all artillery and go full Termie spam? Seems like a great way to lose.
>>
>>52297974
Definitely usable:
Dreadnoughts
Drop Pods
Fire Raptor
1 or 2 of the knights

Can stand in for other minis until you get period-appropriate armor marks:
Captain
Chaplain (pretend he isn't Death Co.)
Tacticals (as Veterans because 30k tacs don't have special or heavy weapons)
Vanguard Veterans maybe (again, different limits on special weapons)

When the next FW black books comes out in a year, Blood Angels will get special units and they're likely to include Sanguinary Guard. For now they're just a command squad or assault marines in fancy colors.
>>
>>52297828
It's 45€ for the 5 men squad, 90 for ten guys. The forgeworld set with had 2 ten man squads, IIRC. That, and nice looking tanks, befitting to the Custodes, not just the same old land raider we had for years (without so much as a custodes transfer sheet, to add insult to injury). Not to mention, the golden paintjob on those boxy tanks looks tacky as fuck.

I really liked that box-set, even though you can buy it all seperately.
>>
>>52298143
I mean

You've got almost 400 points on a 10 man missile launcher squad, that seems excessive. Even if they're great missile launchers do you really need all 10 of them?
>>
>>52298211
I figure that having only five would see them wiped off the battlefield before they could do anything of use.
>>
>>52298222
You could have 5 of them in an Aegis and still be up like 100 points.
>>
>>52298143
Your Rite means you give your opponent two VPs for killing five regular-ass terminators, since only your troops are a terminator squad. You're bringing a Siege Breaker and only two units with phosphex. You have nothing to deal well with flare-shields on AV14. Your primarch is insanely exposed, even when deepstriking you're 1w t4 models without enough spam to be worth it, do you want to catch medusae shells with perty's t4 face? No-one will ever throw a unit of value at him just walking around, all he'll catch is a Knight-Lancer's D spear.
>>
>>52298168

He can use vanguard veterans as his command squad. They would be a vicious localized death star too.
>>
>>52298264
Sounds like you're recommending that I remove Perty from the list, which is non-negotiable.
>>
Quick modeling question, regarding Pariah Power Armor, would an absence of a shoulder pad or both be too extreme of a change from the Space Marine look?

Or prehaps use smaller pauldrons to signify modifications?
>>
>>52298168

Fortunately rhe DC Chaplain doesn't seem to have any DC specific markings. His armor would just be artificer wouldn't it?

The Tactical Marines seem to have some Mk IV bits but not full sets. I was going to get Mk 2-4 stuff anyway as im not fond of the GW box for them. Would they have Mk 5 or 6 by the time Istvaan or Signus Prime happened?
>>
>>52298264
Also, apparently nothing can really deal with Spartans effectively according to sources that I've seen. It seems like you either have to get super lucky or walk up to it with a bunch of chainfists to drop it.
>>
>>52297992
That list doesn't really make any sense. Footslogging only works if you have much more shooting than you do. You don't footslog assault units like your primarch and all those (non-siege tyrant) terminators.

What's the Damocles for?
>>
>>52298306
Hell, your list is even illegal since you need to take vets/termis as compulsory troops and yes that means two of them not one. So you should probably head back to the drawing board,
>>
>>52298343
Or a lightning fighter, or a sicaran venator driving to dodge the shield, etc. If you're set on Perty, then go full on termiespam. You've got a character that makes termies troops, or you can keep using pride, Perty let's them deep strike. Take five units of five termies with combiweapons and a chainfist, drop them all turn one with a Damocles to ensure the drops, drop pert and some boys in the middle, and alpha strike with air support and some artillery in the distance dropping shells. That's a list with synergy, rather than the current list you have
>>
>>52298574
The problem is that Erasmus Golg needs to be Warlord for Termies to be troops, while Perty needs to be in the list to provide deep strike, but will default to Warlord. So I suppose, PoTL is the only choice for a list like that.

A lot of people are grabbing Burning of Prospero in my area, if it's as popular in your's you shouldn't have any trouble finding people to trade with for the Custodes from it.

I dunno, I've been behind in HH books honestly, mostly cause there's only a few I ever want to get in something nicer than a pulp paperback (Scars for example, and I also have Brotherhood of the Storm in the CE it first came out in).

But it wouldn't be impossible considering the Scars' main strategy is not outmaneuvering your enemy, and avoiding direct confrontation when advantageous. I suppose it really depends on how much control the Khan had over the actions of those forces who were deliberately heading off to their deaths. Since they could be used as a sacrificial lamb to draw enemy strength to one area, so that the main force can attack, or even withdraw, in another.

orbital assault with deep striking custodes, any suggestions for which legion would go well with this? blood angels or space wolves maybe?
>>
Is it weird that I want forge world to model a land raider equivalent for the Custodes? Seeing the leak pics with the venerable land raider feels disappointing/wrong aesthetic when compared to the Coronus.

>Jagathai
Who?

>>52301818
Jaghatai with french influences

Would Loyalists have easily won the Siege if RG and SW remained on Terra?
>>
>>52301814
Nah I get it too.

Though I'm thankful that my old Land Raider from my 1st army is still in good shape (dusty though). Since I'm thinking of repainting it
>>
>>52301860
Not easily, but they wouldve definitely held out until the DAngels, Ultras and various shattered elements relieved them

No fallen for sure, but no Luthor? He was a pretty huge in the Dangels and was even a part of the crusade, before being sent home for almost not stopping that assassination attempt.

They already have 2 as well.

Yeah I do.

>Russ had witnessed the White Scars assembled for war at the height of the Great Crusade, and the spread of warships had been twice the size...

That's in Path of Heaven, and there aren't many other sources until FW cover the legion n a black book. 40-60% of legionnaires making it to Terra might be reasonable - if the sagyar mazan were significantly less than 50% of the legion.
>>
>>52302118
FW said at the Weekender that it was possible they wouldn't cover Luther. I doubt they're far into the project, though.

So long as Corswain and the Lion are in I think I can manage.

No one cares about silly Half-Astartes, anon, and no one ever will.

Why are there rules for Kor Phaeron then?
>>
>>52302528
Didn't Ahriman's tutor get rules? I remember there was some suggestion that he was gene-amped instead of Astartes-upped.

Also poor Luthor, dindunuthin. :(
>>
>>52302581
He was actually Magnus' tutor, and yes.
>>
>>52302581
he was astartified as an adult with magnus's direct assistance
>>
>>52302598
So... Full Marine or Half-Marine? Also Kor-Phaeron anon has a point.
>>
>>52302581
>>52302579
They actually fought in a battle covered in the book. Luther probably won't.

Heck, that's why Dorn and Alpharius don't have models. They weren't in any of the battles in book 3.
>>
>>52302662
full marine, otherwise he would be a kor phaeron-tier cripple bitch
>>
>>52302663
In terms of FWs narrative it would be nice if Luthor is at least mentioned, so that in the later books his betrayal has some context. It is perhaps too much to ask for a pre and post chaos pumped Luthor though, I guess...
>>
>>52302689
Lol T&I 3 is upsetting, but 4 wounds fnp ain't nothin to scoff at anon. Plus his Warlord trait is tasty.
>>
>>52302723
4 wounds and FnP, sure, but he gets ID'd by plasma, mauler bolt cannons, and fucking multilasers
>>
>>52302758
He does need termie bubblewrap and a transport, for sure, but he's definitely runnable. I've also never been sure whether his stats represent all half-Astartes or just Kor, seeing as the process was a bit of a botch job and he was sick all the time.

I need a second opinion, or several actually. Current list is:

>2500pt Shattered Legions
>Rite of War: The Sagyar Mazan
>White Scars Praetor, Paragon Blade, Archeotech Pistol, Iron Halo, Cyber hawk
>Imperial Fists Legion Champion Consul: Master crafted Power Axe, Artificer armor, boarding shield
>Blood Angels Moritat Consul, 2x Volkite Serpenta, Power axe, Artificer Armor, Refractor Field, Jump Pack
>10man Scars Assault Squad, Combat shields, 1 each Power Sword, Axe, Glaive
>14man Fists Breacher squad, 2x meltagun, power fist
>3x Scars Apothecaries, 3x power glaive, 1 bike, 1 jump pack, 1 combi-plasma
>9x Scars Seekers, all combi-plasma, Power glaive.
>9x Scars Outriders, Power Sword, 2x Power Axe, Sergeant, Power Glaive,
>Fists Leviathan Siege Dreadnought, Claw, Grav flux bombard, Volkite Calivers, Phosphex Discharger
>Blood Angels Deredeo Dreadnought, Anvillus Autocannons, Aiolos Missile Launcher, 2x Iliastus Assault Cannon
>Total: 2495pts

For those 5 spare points I could drop the pistol on my Praetor and buy him a bike instead. Currently the plan is for him to roll with the Seekers, pointing his bird at stuff for them to melt. Should he roll with the bikes instead?

I want to play balls-to-the-wall because my stuff dying as Sagyar Mazan isn't a bad thing, but I also don't want him to bite it too early, since that'll fuck with my Shattered Legions thing.
>>
>>52302161
Then there's even less incentive to do it, at least imo, not just because of the dreads, but "Exterminators" too. But who knows, I doubt it's been tried out yet.
>>
>>52302793
>seeing as the process was a bit of a botch job and he was sick all the time.
Also he was never a warrior to begin with. Kor Phaeron is the type of person the Legions wouldn't have normally taken as an aspirant.
