Hey guys, first time anon for SW here. I'm gonna be doing my first session today or tomorrow and I'm still figuring things. Any tips on things that first-time GMs often miss or forget? I'm reading over the rulebook again now.

Buh, my bad! I let my players pick between all three books. So one is a Mirialan Artisan, another is a Human Bodyguard, and the third is a Droid Thief. The Artisan is using Morality and Obligation rules, while the other two are just using Obligation.

Might be a little complicated but it just made sense given the characters people wanted to be.

It depends on what you're more comfortable flying. If there's a list there that you've flown more often than the others, then take that list. Familiarity with your list is more important than the raw power of your list.

Assuming you're equally experienced piloting all three, list one looks the most competitive, but list two looks like the most fun. It's a tournament, and all the other guys will be bringing out their most bullshit meta-net crap to try and win, so don't feel bad about optomising the shit out of your list.

>>52248704
How fucking new are you? This is the standard way that lists have been formatted on /tg/ since day dot. I can't imagine how badly your autism would have been triggered if he'd included the point costs too.
>>
For my first character so far, I wanted to make a Commando Droid Commando that disguised itself as an organic.

However, considering the other players seem to want to use very exotic species, and the GM's told us that we'll be interacting with the Empire a fair bit, I feel tempted to use something more normal, namely a Pantoran because I really like Pantorans. Thoughts?
The other two players will be using that one bird-man species, and depending on if we're going "Bounty Hunter" or "Space Truckers", either a Talz or a Dug.
>>
>>52249177
I mean, I'm not a fan of the whole X-Wing thing in general. I get that it's a game and truly belongs here, but discussing lists and dials and whatever detracts from the regular SW RPG discussion.

So my autism is like 11/10. Anyway, carry on.
>>
Is X-wing Writefag around?
>>
>>52248899
Nice digits. Are you a first-time GM in general or just for this system? If it's the latter then here's my EotE advice:
Make sure you can find ways to use advantage and threat creatively, it's one of the biggest strengths of the system but it's also one of the hardest elements for people new to the system. You'll also want to keep in mind that Obligation should be fluid; the players will want to get their obligation as low as possible unless they're murder-hobos and you should let them lower it, but you should also put them in situations which will lead to their obligation going up as well.
>>
>>52249545
Just for this system. I'm pretty experienced when it comes to GMing in general, despite what it may think from that comedy of errors.

Yeah, I'm SUPER excited to get my hands on the advantage and threat system. I've basically been playing that way for years, it's nice to have a system that codifies it.

Speaking of Rogue Leader, what upgrades work best for him? I've had some interesting results with Expertise/R2 Astromech/Vectored Thrusters, but I'm uncertain if that's his best option.
>>
>>52249569
That's good, this system could be tricky for people who aren't used to DMing or who think everything should have a binary succeed/fail result. Some advice for your specific party composition: the bodyguard is a pretty combat-heavy spec but artisan and thief have no combat skills and both generally emphasize stealth. This can be tricky, since when faced with a "shoot it or find another solution" situation, the bodyguard will want to shoot and the others will want to not shoot. There's no one way to work around this but I'd generally advise you to design encounters that need both combat and non-combat methods to be resolved.
>>
>>52249610
Right. The bodyguard is specifically in the party for when things go south. He's got a few skills outside of combat - Negotiation and Cool, since he serves as the Artisan's "agent" for getting gigs - but is basically their muscle. The character is being roleplayed as 'compassionate' though so I don't think he'll end up being a shoot-first kinda character.

As a GM, I generally present scenarios as "roleplay, with action as consequence or shortcut". (Action not necessarily being combat.) If the players fuck up roleplay, or decide to not opt for it, then the action begins.

I also will probably emphasize more multilayered / complicated fight scenes such that Stealth and other Skills remain important. Stuff like chase scenes, fighting over a mcguffin, a fight in a factory where the controls let someone control the machinery, etc.

Make sure you involve the PC's more than say you would in other systems, have them describe their success, you mostly arbitrate their failures and other complications.
As an EotE GM you are something of a storyteller/difficulty setter, rather rules lawyer and enforcer- so the PC's get a roll, tell you what they where trying to do and if it 'suits' the story and dice result, then fuck it- run with it and have fun.

Oh no worries on that, I've played systems where that's the norm. (PBTA systems) I'm super pleased that this system carries over the player agency!
>>
>>52250402
I think it carries the 'fast' movement of the films fairly well as an RPG, maybe not enough granularity for people being weaned off D20 systems and it doesn't do ship combat as well as it could (fixes in the OP's links to house rules)
But, it does the force, light/darkside thing actually the best out of all the previous systems.

Oh, a 'where the fuck is what' link too-
http://swrpg.viluppo.net/
>>
>>52250348

FFG RPG dice are probably one of the best "ah fuck it" mechanics I've ever seen, it does help with a pulpy, half improvised feel like you're scribbling that space action serial script on some coffeeshop napkins, and sometimes the actors have to just make shit up because they can't read what you wrote.

You can transition from like "oh, you just have a pleasant ninja like walk in the woods" to "it's fucking pouring with rain and there's a space bear trap wrapped around your leg and angry space rednecks coming at you" with some rolls.

As a GM, I personally enjoy the difficulty of "triumph, but despair".

>>52250457
Oh, excellent. Thank you so much!

>>52250506
Yeah! The dice mechanic is what totally sold me on this system. It's ingenious.

Also, mind if I ask for some more help on choosing the starting planet for my crew? A bit of background: the Artisan has a training saber and a goal of restoring it to a lightsaber, as well as collecting Jedi artifacts and lore; and the Bodyguard is an outcast Antarian Ranger, who realized the Artisan was hiding Force powers and thinks she's her ticket to being accepted back into the Rangers. (They aren't doing well.)

If things go according to what I expect, I think their eventual goal is to reach Antar 4 (N-12). So I was thinking of starting them relatively far from Antar 4 on Florrum (R-5), since it has the whole thing with the downed Jedi training ship (cool) and its a desert planet (neat homage to the movies) while still having a distinct difference from the movies.

On the other hand, it might be too convenient for them to start on a planet with a downed Jedi training ship, and it's a desert planet, which could feel repetitious. I was also considering Bogden (M-8) since it has the really cool worldbuilding detail of all the moons in close proximity, and it seems like a good place to do mechanics work and not go unnoticed. It's in the Inner Rim, but it's pretty lawless. However, it's also quite close to Antar-4 (which means less side-adventures in-between the two, which isn't necessarily a bad thing).

Any opinions? Or even alternate suggestions on what would make a good starting planet for a mechanic and her crew who don't want to be recognized?
>>
>>52250582

>"Well, you've killed all the thugs Garbo the Hutt sent after you... Unfortunately they were standing in front of the bar. Which is now on fire. Because you set all the alcohol on fire. The bartender would be asking you to leave, but he is also on fire. You could call a fire brigade to be here soon, but they probably work for Garbo. And if you don't deal with this situation soon, you will be on fire."
>>
>>52250655

I mean, I love Bounty Hunter so my first instinct is Bogden, because who knows if there are some left over Bando Gora rolling around and that's a GREAT way to tempt your players and throw them into the possible contact with the Dark Side in a classic adventure fashion.

>"Oh sure, there was an evil cult up on that there grave moon. Think they were led by a witch or something."

If your Artisan player is anything like my first artisan player, the chance for force paperweights will be too great to resist, spooks be damned. (This guy picked up a holocron and a creepy bird mask of a TOR-era Sith corpse once and still kept it in his back pocket after it was obvious that her unquiet spirit was hitching a ride in it)

Even with averaged hyperspace time, and lanes, etc, you can still hand waggle that a lot in that area as GM, especially if they have to rely on NPCs to navigate and transport them, so do what you feel is more interesting. Both options can work, and if you can waggle them to both work in the same campaign, that's great too.
>>
>>52250768
Oh yeah, they will be in the same campaign. The Artisan's explicit goal is to collect Force artifacts and history, to know as much as she can. So Florrum's rumors of a downed Jedi ship will be a good plot hook later on.

The Atarian Ranger background for the Bodyguard ties into that - the Rangers not only seek out Jedi, but also need to preserve Jedi teachings and history for the new generation. The Bodyguard plans to sell the Artisan on the importance of visiting Antar 4 by mentioning they know many things about Jedi ruins and sites... and even the means to making the Artisan's training saber into a full-fledged lightsaber...

The Droid Thief is the Artisan's childhood droid / accomplice who wants to live a life full of heists again. (They used to steal to survive.) So the mission of recovering Jedi history will appeal to the droid.
>>
>>52250768
I didn't know about Bando Gora though. Thats perfect!

I might also just present my players with the choice of where to start, too. Inform them of Jedi ship / Bando Gora, and their locations, and see which they pick.

My plan is also to have their job on the planet get complicated, entangling someone's Obligation, and push the Artisan into having to reveal her Force abilities. So if anyone has any ideas of how to turn a mechanics job into an adventure, I'd love to hear it.

I was thinking sabotage by means of murdering the mechanic, where the client's rival gang or bounty hunter or something intends to hinder the client by killing anyone repairing their ship.

First, you'd have to find a translator who wouldn't commit suicide after laying eyes on that literary abomination.
>>
>>52254485

It's just a weird experimental style.
Which is totally fine with me.

It's just that Star Wars has always had a sort of 'set' house style, even if it wasnt actually an official one.
So suddenly we have this massively important series of books which deal with one of the biggest events of the new canon (the utter destruction of the empire in less than fifteen minutes, retarded though it is), and it's given to a guy who writes it like I wrote essays when I was 7.

Like, what the fuck is that. Who DOES that?
His best friends on the disney story team, that's who.
It is genuinely depression how often it comes down to who you know.
>>
Just watched the new Rebels episode. Damn old Obi-Wan knows some moves. I like how they made his Soresu style very Kendo-ish with his whole " the least possible amount of moves to end a combat" thing. The really managed to capture the old ANH Obi-Wan.

>>
>>52254908
At first I was surprised that the fight was that short, but when you really look at what happens, it's really well done: Obi-Wan switches to Qui-Gon's stance to bait Maul into using the same move he used on Qui-Gon: force the opponent to lower his saber, then hit him in the head with the hilt. Kenobi probably saw that move thousands of times in his mind and thought of a way to counter it, and even used this as a weakness.

I'm also really impressed with the Alec Guinness voice impression, it's so spot on it's almost disturbing.

Aside from jizz wailing, what would be the standard go-to music that would exist in the Star Wars Universe? I'm thinking either 50s rock (for Prequel era) and 80s pop (OT) more than modern music.
>>
>>52257276
Depends on the planet, people, and occasion, I'd say. Wes would have a playlist composed of nothing but Ewok festival music. Tycho would go for classy and classical. Cartann's national anthem would be "Danger Zone." U-wing gunners would croon "IT AIN'T ME" 24/7.

Baron Fel would regularly announce his entrances with this:

I don't know what you're talking about, Blount hits TIEs 100% of the time he shoots at them.
Jokes aside yeah, it's not an amazing matchup since they've got the barrel rolls, the extra green and the evade, your best bet is taking target locks on the same target as often as possible and holding them until you can do TL+focus shots since that's pretty much the only thing you've got over them. You can also try to force them to fly past you since you've got a 1 straight and they don't but that hardly ever makes much of a difference.

Unsurprisingly for my first ever game, I eventually got wiped.

But i mean, this 4 man unit of Z-95s managed to kill Darth Vader, so in the long term they probably dealt the Empire a far larger blow than the loss of 4 headhunters would deal to the alliance.

So I definitely won in the grand scale anyway.

But yeah, 2 red versus 3 defence even before an evade token.
Fuck my life.

It's got pretty shitty maneuverability with no s-loops, t-rolls, and no native barrel roll or boost so its not really good as a high PS arc dodge ace, it's got very average survivability with only 2 agility, 3 hull and 2 shields so it can't really compete in jousts, it's got 3 attack which is alright but not a good mix of upgrade slots to let it become a great alpha striker or consistent damage dealer, and its cheaper pilots are overpriced so it can't really do swarm stuff.

It's a jack of all trades in a game where most of the masters of one are just exponentially better than any amount of versatility can provide.

Double Dog was pretty simple, First Sergeant was yelling AY DEVIL DOG at him, except somehow he fucked it up and ended up coming out AY DOUBLE DAWG. People thought it was funny so they kept calling him that. Pretty boring story, I know.
Ahab was a Korean guy, used to get in arguments with the polish guy in the platoon about who hated communists more.
He got the name because he had this huge thing for fucking fat white chicks, so I joked about him being out harpooning white whales every weekend, and the other guys started calling him ahab after that
Pegboard got that one became he was always going on about extolling the virtues of pegging. We later ended up changing his nickname to deepthroat mike, but that's another story

Cock Warrior was definitely the most interesting. He was gay as fuck, and just went full out with it, he was that kinda guy. He had this running bet that he could out-fuck all the other single guys in the platoon on any given weekend, and he lost like twice in all the time I knew him. He was a complete animal, it was hilarious
He would get photos on his phone as proof and I swear he must have had hundreds of them by the end. One weekend, just to fuck with us, he gave his phone to the guy checking and counting (it was pegboard that week, I think, actually) and there's just two photos of this guy's cock in two hot chicks.
He got the name from this shitty metal band we saw at this shitty dive bar called "warriors of the nuclear dawn", so we joked that this guy was the "warrior of the nuclear cock", which got shortened to Cock Warrior

Okay so Im looking at maybe playing with Kyle flying the Moldy Crow, with Jan as crew.
Then flying escort, Garven Dreis.

Basically the plan here is to always have focus, forever. Couple of green moves at the start, and then whenever Garven spends focus he can throw it to the Crow, and then they can throw it back, or with Jan, they can just turn it into an Evade.

Does this sound vaguely workable?
It sounds cheeky to play at least, which could be fun. Obviously they'll need to stick close together to pass focuses around.

I've got 25 points left, was considering Airen Cracken to give out free actions for generating even more focus, or Jake Farrell in order to turn focus into being a zippy cunt.

Instead, an A-Wing ace who can speed around with extra focuses. Sounds good to me.

Only reason I didn't enter any FFG tourney this year is that I wanted as much real, dedicated, practice under my belt before I step up to regionals.

I should note that I haven't played against any Dengaroo (as you know, last year's worlds winner) but I have high hopes that I can beat it under the right circumstances.

Dark Greetings. Your cause is noble. I'm double dipping on that goal, going to the Invitational and Worlds. Trioculus is worth it. I would say your best bet to git gud is to just get table time. Play a lot with a variety of lists against a variety of opponents. Don't be afraid to go to tournies, anything from a local 4 person event to regionals. Practice, practice, practice.

Yeah, after looking at the FAQ, Manaroo is indeed dead. Dengar on the other hand is still really strong. I'd be surprised if he isn't in the top Scum lists in 2017 and 2018.

As for table time, I'm getting as much as I can and practicing solo on Tabletop Simulator. Probably putting 2 hours into solitaire X-wing on TTS per day and playing about 3 real games per week, since that's all I can manage with my current local group.

TLT's need a nerf. Why they didn't get one in the FAQ given how brutal they were to the Scum and Imperial top meta cards I do not know.

Like, give them some kind of usage cost, like the Synced needing a TL or... well maybe not as far as the Blaster Turret needing to spend a focus, but maybe just having it.
Hell, make it so it doesn't get a second shot off unless it's got a TL or something. It's still reliable damage, it's just less good on low PS ships now.
>>
>>52271652

>TLTs and K-Wings

Im a noob, and I fucking detest the K-Wing and will never bring it, but are TLTs the cancer?
Should I avoid those?

Top goddamn taste on fighters though anon, you're a man of quality.
>>
>>52271727

TLT's will do relibably 2 damage every turn to anything with less than 3 evade dice.
They are range 3, they slow the game down, and they have next to no downside or usage costs like the Synced or the Blaster Turret.

It's closest to the Ion Turret, which is only a point less, but does half damage, has only 1-2 range, is less reliable and only inflicts a single Ion token.
Or the Autoturret which has 1 range and only 2 attack dice, a lot cheaper price tag though.

Make it require a TL, or make it only 2 attack dice. Against 1 agility ships it will still probably do at least 1 damage, but it's not a dead fucking certainty anymore.
>>
>>52271727
If you play rebs competitively, you're bringing TLT's or you're losing. full stop.
Now that every faction will soon have access to them (and will be bringing them) they're an auto-include.
>>
>>52271719

As a reb player, last year's Corran/Miranda's what I've been running mostly. It's not the easiest list to fly, Corran takes some skill. But the regens and 1 turn damage output is worth it. putting out 11 damage dice in one turn between 2 ships is nothing to gawk at (and that doesn't even factor in TLT.)

I'm having a rough time against TIE Defenders as rebels in Armada.

Also as a Rebel player you should get at least one S&V, because Jan is essential. Yeah, I get the feeling that the OP team and the FFG team are at cross purposes with regards to this.
All of the OP team suggestions are decent suggestions whilst the FFG ones seem completely awful and strangely unaware of their own meta.

So like, why would you ever pick a generic TIE Advanced when Academy + Crack Black or a much better TIE Bomber are on the table?

And who in their right mind ever takes a Generic Starviper? Like, regardless of the other choices, who.
Those guys aren't even taken in casual games their so overcosted. Oh sure there's always someone online who claims he's got a friend who uses them, but that's about as believable as that one Florida Laywer who's pants spontanously caught fire in the middle of his defence statement.

The option of a Dogfighting Y-Wing or a Fearless Fang Fighter seem much more interesting for a start.

Rebels are just fucked though. Their only options are a bombing K-Wing without a TLT or a HWK with a TLT. There are literally no other remotely sensible choices.

I hope to god there's some decent Y-Wing and A-Wing options to come.

I mean it's a draft and every guy has to have a list of each faction so presumably whoever gets to pick first for Empire will get stuck with something shit like the Starviper for Scum and vice versa. FFG almost certainly realizes that some of the options just suck balls but they're not going to write in the article "yeah sadly there's jack shit you can really do with this ship, good luck to the fucker who gets stuck with it"
>>
>>52278459
>>52278667

Yeah, it really depends on where you are in the draft order, and what the other 77 points of your list are like. Like, you might really like an academy pilot blocker and a blackcrack TIE. But if you draw last you might have to compensate for being the guy who drew a StarViper with Stealth Device.

The "mini-squad" also has some strict limitations in that it has to be between 23 and 28 points (meaning theoretically somebody can get 105 points worth of list) and has to be generics only.

It's interesting, but the point limitation hamstrung some shit I think. Too bad Wave XI isn't out yet, TIE/AG+TLT+LWF would fit perfectly in the format.

Apparently FFG dropped a little new FAQ lately, which was mostly just questions or whatever, but it firmly solves a question - spending a target lock to reroll normally is a Game Effect.

So TS is pretty good, confirmed.
>>
>>52280348
Decent buff. Omega Leader might actually be decent now.

Pity the rewording doesn't make it so ATC Advanced can get the crit with it. Thought that would work for a second.
>>
>>52280738

You mean Omega Ace. OL requires you to target lock a ship and doesn't need you to spend it so it doesn't count. And also OL didn't need any help.

So much so I'm pretty sure Pulsed Ray shields is excluded for imps almost entirely because of it. And maybe TIE/AG.
>>
>>52280803
Yeah. Whoops. Ace. Brain fart.

Yes I'm pretty sure you're right that OL is the reason Pulse Ray shield is Rebel/Scum only. It would be a nice buff to the Tie/fo overall, but way too good on him.

TIE/ag would be bad with it, since it would telegraph where you were going, which is quite detrimental on a TLT ship. Also LWF is probably better overall for the same points cost.
>>
>>52280858

I mean, I don't roll with TLTs because last I checked K-Wings are still out of stock everywhere, but I though maybe the slow roll would help since some ties are bad with their 1 speeds (and I'd bet the Aggressor will have a dial akin to an Advanced or TAP with maybe more reds) to keep targets inside your range 2-3 and not have them get too close, since you can still BR.

You're right though, LWF would almost always be the the best choice, it comes in box and 2.5 agility is great the way most ships are these days.

I actually really wanted to address this because I was thinking about it all day. Right now, in addition to prepping for the 2018 x-wing season, I have a hobby youtube channel. Mostly dumb vidya stuff, but I've been transitioning into tabletop shit (I've got a soon to be shortlived Pathfinder series, gonna have some warhams shit, an Only War campaign series. etc.)
But one of the first things I'm doing when I have the time is to do some x-wing ship and list breakdowns and batreps (I'll post a link here when I actually have more than 1 x-wing related vid on the channel). But a Patreon was always considered as a way to make the channel lucrative to produce for.
>TL;DR: I'll be considering a patreon (to go live no earlier than the 2018 tourney season's announcement) in conjunction with my youtube channel. >>
>>52280932

The slow f1 helps a fair number of scum ships that lack a native forward 1 as well. Neither the Scyk or Kithrax have one. I don't think the Starviper does either for that matter.

It's just the rebels that tends to have comprehensive slow speed maneouvers. It's just the faster stuff and the hard turns they tend to lack. It's the second reason why B-Wings aren't seen anymore, they can't close the gap to the TLT packing Y-Wings fast enough not to die.

>>
>>52281066

And Rebs are about to get another clunky 1 AG ship. No way with a 180 arc + Reinforce the Auzituck has a great dial. No Ks and probably some red turns in the future. FFG has been all about choices actually mattering lately.

Speaking of Rebels and broad mods though, I had a thought the other day - what if Rebels could benefit from a "Wing" upgrade? Like how TIE only affects all TIEs, could you make a mod which was "Wing only" which would apply broadly to rebel small fighters (and Scum Ys, I guess)? Does that work with the language? And what kind of upgrades could you apply to multiple letter-wing ships to improve rebels?
>>

Too silly for writing, maybe workable for GM narration
>>
>>52281249

>>52281249

They're also going to get a PS8 Agility 1 bomber ship that can take a TLT AS WELL AS a FireCon or Acc Corrector for a LOT less points than the Ghost.
Yeah, I can see a lot of potential in Havoc - Miranda (with Sabine Natch) pair-ups in the future.

>>52281249

Problem is, Rebels aren't that big on unified parts and suppliers like the Imperials. On account of the fact that their stuff is mix of whatever they can steal or salvage.

What they needed was to make Autothrusters Small Ship only, and then make the Agressor (no, the OTHER Agressor) a Small Base Ship. Or have the IG-2000 title make them count as a small base model (which would actually open up some interesting and thematic options.)

Failing that, just nerf the TLT to 2 dice.
>>
>>52281324

That reminds me of an idea for "Tactics" cards I've seen a couple people throw around on the FFG forums lately - an upgrade which affects your entire squad but isn't attached to any one ship. This would also be a good way to improve a lot of ships at once.

Sadly I don't think we're getting any real revolutionary mechanics in this wave - but the stuff we are getting with "unlimited ordinance" and some stuff is interesting.

>>52281356

We'll also have to see what Minefield Mapper does, but Nym can take EM too, and unique Scum Astros. Miranda + is a firm basis for a few rebel squadrons (or perhaps that's +Miranda. I would think given she's a more common element she's the real foundation there) so the Havoc will probably join that number. It has EPTs so it can deadeye as well and fucking 3 T-Rolls.

Additionally, H-6s and Tugboats chucking bombs and tractor tokens will be a thing for Scum.

>Failing that, just nerf the TLT to 2 dice.

I suspect that with the last big four hits, TLT will probably be getting a waggle of something in the not to distant future, especially since it's going to all four factions. While it costs a lot, scratch damage is pretty rough and it looks like the higher PS Aggressor generic has an EPT to TLT ruthlessness will be a thing. So if people keep telling FFG how bad TLTs are they'll have to work something into it. I'd wager the enemy getting an extra defense die at R3 or something to curb dice mods is the most likely.
>>
>>52281515

>four factions.

Christ, I am tired. I think I need to lay down, I'm inventing entire factions for XWM now. AND giving them TLT.
>>
>>52281356
>They're also going to get a PS8 Agility 1 bomber ship that can take a TLT AS WELL AS a FireCon or Acc Corrector for a LOT less points than the Ghost.
Yeah, I can see a lot of potential in Havoc - Miranda (with Sabine Natch) pair-ups in the future.

A Miranda with Sabine, TLT, Extra Munitions, Adv SLAM and Connor Nets clocks in at 45 points.
The following upgrades for Captain Nym: TLT, Havoc Title, Extra Munitions, Connor Net comes to 15pts. NYM is going to be 31 points unless they think his pilot ability is worth a few extra points, and FFG usually don't.
This leaves 9 points left for tinkering. So, you could toss in some Proton Bombs or R5 - P8 onto Nym, then throw in VI or something else. R2-D2 on Miranda could then follow.
>>
>>52281515
Well if nothing else, the letterwing fighters would all be star fighters and they could all use it as an ept or something for better movement options.
Then non-letterwings can't use it and get op.

I just want alphabet soup to be viable.
Being totally honest I want 3 x-wings to be viable.
>>
>>52281549

Technically FFG considers First Order and Resistence to be seperate factions that you can mix and match with Imperials and Rebels respectively.

So you're still wrong, but in the other direction.

>it being so much more expensive than the comparable K-wing

It really isn't though, if the scale is the same Nym should only be 1 point more than Miranda. Since rebels don't seem to get any generics, comparisons otherwise are unfair. What you get for that is access to an EPT, and one torp, one missile, one bomb, one turret and one crew, so basically one less torp in exchange for an EPT. For 0 points you can drop crew to get access to System and unique Salvaged Astros. We also know it has a 4 forward and a 3 T-roll, so the Havoc is probably more maneuverable than the K, though not as much top speed with no slam. But it doesn't get PWT. It does have one more health, though.

So it'll probably depend pretty heavily on Nym's pilot ability, and what some of the stuff packaged with the H-6 pack do, but it's still a pretty close match.

So apparently Home One, canonically, only has 36 turbo-lasers and ion cannons(a total of 72 heavy guns). The Wook says that one source actually put it at 29 batteries of 5 each, which would put it at 145+36 ICs in total, but that still seems kind of underpowered next to an ISD-II. And EVERY OTHER CRUISER has even less armament.

So how in the holy hell did Home One and whatever other cruisers were present manage to batter down the Executor's shields?

Concentrated firepower, as Ackbar pointed out. They may be undergunned, but throw enough MCs at a target and it'll still hurt. Also, B-wings. Lots and lots of B-wings. And Wedge "Speedruns ISDs for giggles" Antilles. And Stone Cold Horton Salm.

So, I'm recording some of my first X-wing series tomorrow (I know there are already tons of ship and list breakdowns on youtube). What would be better, to start with the T-65 and just work through the expansions til I get to all the ships I want to talk about, or just talk about what's meta right now? I'm thinking the meta route offers the listeners more, rather than me talking about ships that nobody cares to play anymore.

About the only real advantage the MC's have over ISD's was their shield generators- huge banks of them they can bring up at the flick of a switch, compared to the imperials who tended to be a bit more oriented towards sheer firepower.
Most of the SW RPG systems haven't ever really managed to capture the use of capital ships in their games, a couple do starfighters and transports ok, but none of them have really ever had a good hard think about how warships function and as a result tended to be 'background scenery'.

Guess for the majority of games that's ok, but its loss for those who are interested in using them as more than a set-piece in games.
>>
>>52283376
I think it depends on who your target audience is for the series and what you really want it to be. If you start from the start you've got a lot of ships to work through that aren't likely to see significant changes any time soon so your video will have more lasting power, plus it will appeal more to beginners who are just getting into the game and want comprehensive analysis of every option available to them. If you start with the meta your videos will likely be made obsolete by changes sooner and your videos will have less appeal with people who don't play to the meta or who already know about the meta firsthand.
>>
>>52282836
what was the guns on the ISD-II again? that number has been fought over a bit as well from my understanding.
>>
>>52283648
That's actually a really fair point that I wasn't seeing right away. I think it is probably smarter to have the beginning player in mind, since the meta gamer isn't going to be learning much from an overview of ships and builds since they know what's meta and what isn't.
Thanks for the input. I'll be scripting and recording the T-65 video tomorrow and probably editing later this week whenever there's time. Apologies in advance is Biggs gets more emphasis than the other pilots, but he was the last worth-while t-65 pilot in the meta and I'll admit I had a very long honeymoon period flying him when I first started playing.
>>
>>52283696
Legends canon with the ISD-II had like 100+ turbolasers alone
NuCanon settles it at 60 turoblasers and Ion cannons

Actually, watch the part where Chirrut grabs that trooper and uses him as cover from the others.

The guy he's holding continues moving after the other trooper fires on him like three times and his armour chars rather than gets holes and kills him.

Maybe that trooper lowered his power output to save his friend?
So maybe the average blaster the imps would deal with can't pen either. The Rebellion and proper scum use powered up full military blasters. But the average civilian who can only easily get their hands on legal weaponry? Maybe their weapons couldn't pen trooper armour.

Like civvies are using space .22 blasters whilst the militaries and criminals are using larger space calibers

After seeing the most recent Rebels episode, I am wondering when FFG will release Maul into X-wing...
I assume he would be a crew for scum, but not sure on the 'theme' of his ability.
Maybe something that applies stress to others? Or maybe something to do with applying damage, like other dark-siders.
Any ideas or things you would like to see Anon?
>>
>>52287615
Is Maul even ever shown flying anything on his own?
>>
>>52287664
He does have his own ship, but I've read that it would be too big for X-wing. Apparently it is longer than the Ghost (It's the ship Ezra returns to Chopper base in, if you're familiar with the show.)
I can't see it being too difficult to bring him in, but he is quite an isolated character when he does appear in the show, he always seemed to be using people, rather than working with them. Then again, that is a rather scummy thing to do.
>>
>>52287664
He had the Kom'rk, which would basically be a big base protectorate. He also stole an Inquisitor's TAP. Crew would probably be best for him, something offensive and debilitating.

The tilt wing at the end of the last episode? that was Maul's? I assumed it was a mando ship Ezra managed to hitch a ride from since it looked like an upscaled fang-fighter.

I'm still amazed we haven't gotten an Obi-Wan card yet.
>>
>>52288568
Yeah, I'm fairly certain that tilt-wing thing is Maul's. It appears and is associated with Maul elsewhere in Rebels, and if I recall correctly, Mauls escapes in it in an earlier S3 episode.

It's a gauntlet fighter (Kom'rk-class fighter). It's Mando but Maul stole one.
>>
>>52288732
170 feet long, by the way. Significantly longer than even the Millenium Falcon. If it finds its way into x-wing I'd put money that's it's a Huge ship for Scum, albeit the smallest Huge ship in the game.
>>
>>52287098

Because .22 LR is kind of a weak round, and probably what most people think of when you say "22".

5.56x45mm it a military intermediate cartridge, much more power in the round and a different shape for different purposes.

Not that this really applies to blasters, their primary difference seems to be more of one of the difference of firing a rifled bullet from a pistol and then firing one from a giant rifle with a heavy barrel.

So I'm running SAGA's Dawn of Defiance. I'm intending to drop in character-centric plots in between the main adventures. They're level 3 and just got to Cato Neimodia currently.

One of the players is a former Padawan, and I'd like to introduce a Jedi antagonist who is going about and butchering/sabotaging/blowing up imperial installations, but with a lot of collateral civilian deaths. Could anyone suggest some ideas on that? I'm not sure how a Jedi could be operating like that. Does he walk into COMPNOR offices and butcher everyone, front desk secretaries included? Should he have help?

One of the other characters is an old administrative droid (secretly was a CIS saboteur), and unbenownst to the character or player, has the plans and locations to several CIS doomsday weapons. Not quite Death Star, but things like that giant EMP ship from Clone Wars. Are there any record or list of CIS super projects somewhere? Ideas are also welcome of not.
