Okay guys, guy working on the UC Sphere Magus here.

I've hit a bit of a conundrum.

Now, I've stated previously that I plan on making option in the archetype for different play/fighting styles, among which is incorporating Eldritch Archer options into the character.

Now, because of this, I've hit a snag. I'm currently debating whether to make Thrown Weapons into their own thing, or to instead just leave it to Ranged combat anyway.

Alright bitches, i'm getting close to being able to set up my game (setting up story-beats and trying to finalize rules/world) which will be weird-west style (No, I am not fucking rory-anon)

I'm gonna lay out the house rules I have in my head.

Advanced guns with sane prices, reload as free by default, get dex to damage by default, are x3 crit rather than x4 - are martial weapons (some classes it would make sense to have access to revolvers by default, like rogues)

Thrown weapons use str to hit by default

Gunslingers get weapon training instead of gun training, have access to AWT

thinking allowing psionics, spheres, slingers of porphyra, thinking of disallowing initiators because then i'll just have 5 people using -SOLAR WIND-, might allow SoM, but i actually need to look at it.

Am also willing to work with players to home brew up shit

Except that Elemental Flux, Silver Crane, Sleeping Goddess, Steel Serpent, and Tempest Gale are a thing too? Riven Hourglass, Shattered Mirror and Veiled Moon can also be used to provide utility maneuvers.
You could just allow some extra free discipline trades so people can get at least 3-4 different disciplines that work with ranged weapons.

Not that anon, but a couple reasons stand out in particular to me

The biggest one is that the GM is abrasive, which means if arguments crop up (and they will. No game gets by without some kind of debate) everybody is going to feel stressed or like they're stepping on eggshells to avoid the GM's wrath.

the second one is that the entire theme of the game appears to be rape. which is... well. It's not good.

After getting clarified on a pathfinder/5e rules discrepency (which will happen from time to time) I'm retracting an earlier comment.

"Compound Rifle" now means "Flechette Rifle". Excessively heavy "bullets" more akin to steel bolts with moonsilver tips. Good for penetrating large monsters.

Gamze's player here. I should probably mention I was doing some last minute edits on her personality, so the opening half should be a bit more legible and distinctive now.

Need some second level spells (for scrolls) that do a decent amount of damage, CL 3. Playing a bard, and need it for when the heavy dpr guys are gone, and the other party members are fuckabouts.

Flaming sphere is one of them, ends up doing 9d6 damage over the three rounds. Need something that can be used in buildings and forests, though.

For ranged touch attacks, don't have precise shot, so that is a consideration.

Yeah, maybe... I'm thinking of the following rules:

Guns are either 18-20/x2 crits (for Needle-guns) or 20/x4 (for Slug-guns).

Needle-guns fire an extremely high velocity projectile propelled by magic. They target touch AC and only get 1/2 Dex-to-Damage, and they have much smaller damage dice (1d8 or 1d10 for most). They're the ones you use for hunting normal game and defending yourself.

Slug-guns fire a MUCH larger projectile. Because of this, they target flat-footed AC, but get full Dex-to-Damage, and have bigger damage die (i.e the smallest ones start at 2d8, and the largest rifles go up to something silly like 8d8).

In addition, they'd have different ranges. After the first range increment, a needle-gun will target flat-footed after the first range increment, and a slug-gun will target full AC after the first. Range increments will usually be somewhere within 20-40 feet.

Again, these are just rules off the top of my head, and they are WIP.

Switching down from touch to flat-footed is pretty weird. There'll be ranges at which characters are easier to hit if they're further away (mostly high-dex types) which is... strange. Not to mention that the heavy gun with a large projectile hits dodgy characters easier than the one that's supersonic.

As mentioned before in the Sonja review, there's nothing wrong with fetish characters as long as they've got a good story and character along with them. And this definitely is someone's fetish - the character needs to have their very expensive pretty clothes on to cast, which is... well, it suggests obvious disarming methods that will inevitably lead to other fun surprise activities. But do the other aspects play well together?

GOOD POINTS: This app was somewhat more deep than I thought it would be, particular when skimming it the tome section seemed tacked on at the end without forethought. It is definitely blatant fetish pandering, but because of the type of game I'll put that as a minor positive than negative. Amidst a horde of angsty teens with tragedy in their pasts, a more traditional prettified caster who's genuinely kind is a breath of fresh air. And aside from that, the small personality touches that round out her character are good. The semi-erotic descriptions of the magical arts don't hurt at all, either!

THE BAD: The reason why the rest are angsty tragedic teens is this is lewd Dark Souls. The whole knowing a magical art known to one family screams Mary Sue. Why is a person who's learned a special magic known only their family even go to an academy except for scoring points? It's not like it's massively compatible, is it? As mentioned before, the tome section feels tacked on separately, and if one removes it, the app for Cashmere would be straight out of F-list. Even with the addition of the problems with the tome and blackmail plot, the backstory has only hinted at any problems while the personality seems to be in crisis over an issue with her father, which is relatively small in the scheme of dick nobles. There may be a sort of pleasure of seeing a naively innocent perfect girl be thrust into an imperfect, cruel creation, but the crapsack world theme could be integrated further into the app. For just one example, in a college of dickass nobles, someone would have been trying to bring the top student down and smarts and beauty alone wouldn't have kept her in top place.

Anyways, my verdict on it, and a couple notes

What this means is that you technically gain infinite 1st, 2nd, or 3rd-level spells. If Infusion Spec applied to these, I'd be all over it.

The big issues I see with this archetype are that you're GOING to lose 9th-level spells and 6th-level spells unless you're a Blood Conduit Bloodrager, in which case you get spells later on. Recouping this costs heavily in terms of the Prestigious Spellcaster feat, and you're also gonna be MAD for your Casting Stat/Constitution/Attacking stat. The LEAST MAD way of entering into Kinetic Mystic would be using one of the Kineticist Archetypes that swaps your Constitution for another stat.

A couple of examples, off the top of my head

>Cerebral Kineticist/Arcanist
>Elemental Ascetic/Spiritualist
>Overwhelming Soul/Oracle

You can also, technically enter it as a single-class if you're a full-caster and take the Kineticist VMC also in the book. Or as a Havoker Witch, which nets you... wait, why? That's a terrible idea.

Either way, Kinetic Mystic is an interesting idea. I'd like it if it had Eldritch Knight-caster level progression and let you more feasibly obtain 9th-level spells at level 20, but I'm happy with it as is. I'd also like it if you were able to use your Kineticist Ability Score (Constitution, usually, though some replace it with a mental ability score) in place of your Casting ability score to determine your spellcasting level and DCs, along with reducing MADness by a ton.

It is. Kinetic Casting is an extremely useful thing. I just wish it came online sooner. All in all, that last ability is a /doozy/ as a prepared caster, if you can manage to get your caster level high enough that your spells last long enough. You can have tons of spells running for little cost.

Depending on how open the players are, it might not even be that hard to set up incest with existing characters. The ironic thing about the backstories where your home is destroyed and you're left orphaned is how easy it is to squeeze two characters together through it.

I think quite a few of the characters went for nobility backgrounds too.

I've got a group that, due to the GM not liking low-power play (and somehow not liking the idea of increasing level to get to a higher power level) is switching from 5e to 3.5. As the group rule guy and "knows how to not suck" guy, I'm helping with charop and overseeing the transition.

Here's our current party (5e) and what 3.5e class I'm going to suggest they migrate to.
Battlemaster Fighter -> Warblade
Paladin -> Crusader
Evoker Wizard -> Wizard
Arcane Trickster Rogue -> Beguiler (+Rogue/Arcane Trickster multiclass if they really want sneak attack)
Eldritch Knight Fighter -> Duskblade
Monk -> Unarmed Swordsage
Warlock -> Warlock
Does this seem solid, or do you think there's better options? Goal is to have everybody tier four or higher.
