There's a disconnect there to me that says the game doesn't know what it wants.

I agree with you. These have been issues that have existed in the game for a while. Arc sucks. Nobody likes it, and nobody I have ever played with actually runs it as intended. Most of the time they require you to only spend Arc on stuff that you did during the session you got it in or to seek training for it.

Grit also kind of sucks, but it sucks less. You can have high grit and no Will due to the True Grit boon, and one of the ways to go up in Grit is to actually endure pain. So it can very reasonably represent physical endurance on top of being a PTSD weirdo.

The difference is what constitutes a wound of import. Getting gouged an inch deep matters more when an inch is all you've got to give. Your physical hardiness affects what physical wounds you're able to ignore because they're not really serious enough yet.

Their abilities let them stay at sea essentially indefinitely unless they need to get something they can't grow or make, so they're able to stick to giant floating tribe-based navies which is exactly what they want to do in life. Maybe you don't realize this, but barely any wounds result in limbs getting severed. Several simply cripple the limb, which naturally is harder to do when the guy using the limb is much more likely to keep using it, despite as much damage as some other guy.

I think it's because she's a different kind of "warrior woman" character. She isn't a "girl power" type who is standing up against the evil patriarchy, which rubs a lot of people the wrong way because muh feminism. Instead, she's very much a selfish individual who just wants power. She's more of an Azula than a Femme-Thor, a hyper-competent warrior with no ideology and no cringeworthy social commentary baggage. She is a bit of a bitch, but she's portrayed very neutrally. She has flaws, and those flaws aren't excused, they're just a part of her character. Sort of an amoral Conan the Barbarian type, except a gril.

Yes, the Samojed are a weird occurance on the Infinite Steppe, especially around Laransk. They are weird humanoids who look crudely sculpted from clay, stone, earth and wood. Well, there's an hour and fifteen minutes to go, and while the kickstarter isn't over yet, it's close enough that very few new customers are gonna get involved, meaning that marketing is over. It seems like the big marketing push from Opaque never really materialized, and shilling from the thread fizzled out after the beginning. In that respect, we can look at Zweihänder as an example of what one single dedicated shill can do, as a minimum of what this kickstarter might have gotten if either Jimmy had done his job or if he hadn't intentionally prevented John Galt from doing it. But hey, 300% funding is still a nice success. And the relatively small assortment of stretch goals is hopefully doable in the allotted time, even for inexperienced and generally slow people like Opaque. What's more, although this didn't see nearly as much marketing as it could have, it did still manage to spread the game to other communities, meaning that there'll be inroads already made when it comes time for the Ballad kickstarter.

There are a variety of things the funds will go to, but we do not stand personally to gain much from this kickstarter. Primarily it will be printing costs, artwork (art costs so much fucking money) and other assorted expenses to make sure the final product is as high quality as possible. I'm playing a Hiramoto fighter pilot-turned criminal in Ballad. He got deployed to the colony in Space California, got involved in Rahoo plane death races because I imagine that's something that happens in Rahoo, and got hooked on the rockstar lifestyle. Now, after getting kicked out, he constantly is looking for that speed buzz he no longer has access to and has turned to a life of crime to support himself.

I have two options. Full on Rate of Fire autism, with a Nelson Deluge and as many rapid firing guns as I can afford. Alternatively, as a Hiratomo that has become embedded in Rahoo culture, I can go full Cowboy Tanaka with lever actions and revolvers.
