Old thread:

>>
Listening to the audiobooks on the bus every day and watching these new releases has made me absolutely love the AoS setting.

Would GW sue me if I put my AoS Savage Worlds supplement on TGA?
>>
Reminder not to reply to butthurt shitposters
>>
>>52189673
Nah, but the mods will just remove them and shadowban you.
>>
Do people collect armies of grand alliances?

Because there are models I want from all of Destruction.
>>
>>52189613
I'm really curious how they'll stat those airships. I mean, the Grundstok Gunhauler seems fairly straightforward; cannon, rifle, some 'move over unit, cause mortal wounds' ability and fly.
But the Arkanaut Ironclad looks like a hefty bastard with an enormous amount of cannons and shit.
>>
Death > Order > Destruction > Chaos
>>
>>52189688
it's becoming increasingly less viable as more and more factions are getting a full release
i run dispossesed/freeguild/ironweld but only because i can use longbeards to use my dwarf command traits regardless of who the general is
as soon as any of them get's a faction bonus it'll become pointless though

>>
>>52189613
Why do they wear heavy armours? I think for sky pirates, light armor would be more beneficial.
>>
Dwarves when?
>>
>>52189773

The GW reveal mentions that they need it living and flying in the skies of the Mortal Realms, with all the magic blowing around that high.
>>
>>52189688
>Do people collect armies of grand alliances?
Only retards who keep using old armies
>>52189779
>Dwarves when?
Right after brets
>>
>>52189679
That's fair, It's not unhealthy to dedicate a community to a certain area.
>>
>>52189613
Is it weird that all I see are abhuman helots that survived the dark age armed with st 5 energy weapons with some rotor cannons sprinkled around?
>>
>>52189794
>yfw these fuckers probably don't need realmgates because they can sail from realm to realm through the ethereal winds of magic
>>
>>52189773
Aren't they traveling through space?
>>
>>52189836
>>52189856
Was it ever stated that Realmgates and Warprifts aren't only possible ways to travel between the realms?]
Also, did they really include Slambo in AoS, or just give him rules?
>>
>>52189856
No, the Realms have their own atmospheres but sometimes there are areas that are hostile to life due to elemental fury or excess Chaos corruption.
>>
>>52189875
No, the Seraphon travel via their own means. The Skaven use Gnawholes. There is a Nurglite character that uses his space Kraken to travel between the realms.
>>
>>52189924
So gates, rifts and space, shit, still doesn't fit.
>>
>>52189887
Yeah, it's space.
>>
>>52189703
I can see just two kinds of guns, the big gatling and the hulls cannons.

In AoS you can divide shots as you wish so you could do a single profile for all the hulls cannon and give them a lot of shots.

Otherwise I can see a rule like "It can shoot its hull cannon once at each target within range".
>>
>>52189613
>>52189703
Okay, I'll bite. How much are they going to cost?

In Australian Dollars.

Then again, the last thread was a shitshow as is, so maybe that would have been too much.

The Frigate and especially the Ironclad are probably not cheap, considering their fairly substantial size. I'd expect around the usual monster prices. The Gunhauler is probably a good bit cheaper.

When GW releases the Nulahmia campaign.

Winner determines which Battletome they will release first. Soulblight (Vampires) or Slaanesh.

He hit Skarbrand with a nuke on a stick in All-gates. Read that.

Hey guys, just starting to get into the hobby

I'm already laying down my headcanon to have the indian karaks developing away from the conservatism of the world's edge mountains and becoming the karardron overlords.

Nagash is thinking about it, but Archaon doesn't need or want them. His Varanguard generally wreck Stormcast face every time they face them.

They probably wanted to be moisture farmers in Star Wars too.

Not that I necessarily with people who give AOS that criticism. But it could be that way due to their approach.

No, they wanted to play smuggler or noble or mercenary without having a lightsaber, forcepowers and a epic destiny shoved down their throat as soon as they left the tutorial.

This is a serious question for Age of Sigmarines.

Recent releases underscore just how worthless and irrelevant the older armies are as GW refuses to update them

>Stormcast get hawkriders and magical birds but elves don't
>Stormcast get Jezzails but Skaven don't

Now Dwarves steal the steampunk atheistic right from under Skryre whilst the ancient shitty jezzail, globadiers, warplocks, etc rot on the shelves for another 10 years.

Of course everyone will just laugh at the Skryre fans because they are still assravaged by 8th Ed Doomwheels and skitterleaping rocket-engineers kicking their shit in back in fantasy, but if you can't see the problem here then GW has you hooked for good and i don't know what to tell you.

That's three nails in the AoS Skaven coffin.
>>
>>52191263
Because I'm a moron and am going to reply to this, my store timetables certain days for the kids and they basically don't come in on other days until they're closer to being actual people. It shields them from the grognards and regular people from having to explain the rules to a 12 year old every single turn.

This applies to 40k and AoS equally though.

>Stormcast get hawkriders and magical birds but elves don't
What kind of ass-backward argument is that even?
One army has used certain design elements, so it's forbidden for everybody else? Yes, well, orcs were the first to use rough leather armor with metal bits, so nobody else may use them, ever! Undead had skulls on them since forever, so no skulls for anybody else!
Nevermind that a grand total of one unit mounted of birds ever existed for elves in WHFB.

>Stormcast get Jezzails but Skaven don't
They sare the same game design space, sure. Does that mean nobody may ever use sniper weapons ever again? Also, guess what, skaven do it nearly as well for cheaper.
And in terms of visuals the two units are nothing alike.

I can't believe I got this mad at such a stupid post...

Only retards have that hope. They are in the game only because GW has the sense of not squatting the entire range from a day to the next.

Every new model, AoS looks more like Warcraft. I thought the point of AoS and WHFB was to create a setting that had a separate aesthetic, not trick gullible dorks into buying models thinking they're getting something from WoW.
>>
>>52189688
Not really.

As the game ages there's going to end up being a best faction to each alliance. Everything else will just be chaff.
>>
>>52192030
Fluff-wise means jack shit, since whoever's battletome it is will be the top-dog. Not to mention most Stormcast during Allgates got their asses handed to them.
TK are still good as of now since the GHB 2.0 is still a ways out and we don't know which changes will stick while Seraphon, Skyre and Beastclaw are unchanged and as strong as ever.
Meanwhile Tzeentch has like two good builds that pray to the high heavens the enemy has no way to teleport or similar and the best SC tactics got nerfed like mad.

Painted my very first SC. I tried to use Duncan' tutorial on the Emperor's sword to get a flaminf sword and it turned out like shit so went back to dark metal. Kinda tempted to try and make the next sword volcanic like the base and shield, but I fear it'll end up looking like a club.

Great idea with the shield! That said, the shield and the ground make the rest look a little underwhelming, to be honest. The white doesn't do the mini any favors, either. Have you considered maybe applying the same effect to the sword, assuming that even works size-wise?
Also, I'd reduce the size of the picture in the future a little. It looks better when the image is not quite that inflated.

They still won, regardless of "SCE can do everything they can, but much better".

>>

I did actually! Not sure it'll work since the sword is smaller than anything else I tried it on, and I hope it won't deform it too much. I'll try it on the next one.

Have to admit the white doesn't sit right in the scheme yeah. Maybe bright yellow? I'm thinking about tryint the lava effect on the pauldrons as well.

>>52192910
Bright yellow or a bold orange might work very well, yeah. I'd also add that to the crest.
And the idea with the pauldrons is a solid one. They offer enough space and should break up the monotony of the scheme nicely
>>
>>52192944
>but this victory doesn't fit the setting.

What does this even mean, Anon?
>>
>>52192944
>this victory doesn't fit the setting.

Yeah, because you have freeguilds fighting Stormcast in the first place, which are faction on the same side.
>>
>>52192645
The shield and mini itself don't look like they belong together.

The base sorely need more physical depth to it, just painting the cracks there won't cut it.

One thing to keep in mind as well is that "special effects" painting, like the cracked crust over molten magma here, need to be done really well to work, otherwise it just falls flat on its face. It's very unforgiving, and you're not there yet by a long shot I'm afraid. The shield almost looks like old, dried and cracked leather as much as anything else.

Also very little to create any interest in the figure itself. Colour scheme is in dire need of accents.
>>
>>52192967
>What does this even mean, Anon?
You cannot explain this victory from the fluff size of question, since SCE have the same units as freeguilds but with sigmarines instead of regular human.
>>
>>52192944
People kick the SCEs' asses all the fucking time in the lore, so what are you going on about? I don't think anybody has gotten their asses kicked quite as often as the Stormcast.

Slaves to Darkness are very battleline/core unit heavy, Rotbringers are very hero heavy

Inb4 make the Jezzails your General, because you then lose out on having a General with General Ability.

I agree that death is a hard alliance to make new material for, since they've covered the basics (skellies, vampires, etc) but I think death should get a rule similar to orks old looted gear. You can field any model as an undead version of itself provided you:

Have a necromancer there to keep it animated (maybe give necromancers mastery levels like 40k to denote how strong a creature they can bind) . For example: any necromancer can summon undead clanrats but only a powerful necromancer or unit of lesser could maintain an undead mawkrusha.

The undead unit would take a hit to its stats, lose all allegiance specific bonuses and be granted the keyword of the necromancer controlling it (such as death rattle or nighthaunt). The stat hits could be things like reduced health, worse to hits, worse save, shorter wounded tables etc.

Destiny dice are a broken concept on 500 points.

What, people actually play at 500? What. Why. Who.

Supposedly it can carry the Arkanaut Company, though I have no idea how AoS would handle a transport without making a whole mess of rules.

>deploy unit off the table
>in your movement phase you can set up every model in this unit within 3" of the zeppelin
Done
>>
>>52194088
I guess it just has a comany inside from the start included in the cost that can embark or disembark in their movement phase.

No need for more rules than that.
>>
>>52194088
It will just work like a deepstrike but only within X inches of one of the airships
>>

No, just a tired and angry man with a filterlist so long it might as well just be a 4 point "shit I DO want to see" list.

>>52194088
>Garrisons: A unit can garrison a
Watchtower if all of the models in the
unit are within 6" of it at the start of their
movement phase, or if they could be set
up within 6" of the Watchtower when
deploying for the battle. Remove the
garrisoning unit from the battlefield and
place it to one side.
>A unit garrisoning a building can attack
and be attacked as normal, except that the
range and visibility for the models in the
building is measured from the building
model. The garrison counts as being in
cover if it is attacked.
>>
>>52194174
One Hero and one other unit can garrison
a Watchtower. Models cannot enter a
building garrisoned by the enemy.
A garrisoning unit can exit a building as
its move in a future movement phase. To
do so, set it up so that all models from the
unit are within 6" of the building and more
than 3" from any enemy units.
>>
>>52194088
Grot fanatics and shadowblade assassins have rules in which they hide in units. Perhaps a modified version of the rules could be used?

That'd work, but it'd mean they can never enter the transport during the game. Which is fine, I suppose.

>>52194174
>>52194195
Good point, but I hope that's not it, I'd rather have the thing have some actually useful rules.

Why not?

Chameleon skinks can redeploy

If it's like a Watchtower it means it work like mobile cover while at the same time giving the unit inside more mobility.

They are useful rules.

Why can't we get a game in Aos setting?
>>
>>52195357

Because it's a setting that anyone can reproduce with the same 15 minutes GW spent on it, not worth licensing.

https://spikeybits.com/2017/03/gw-repeals-online-shopping-cart-ban-for-american-retailers.html

From 3 May 2017 direct Trade Accounts of Games Workshop, and retailers purchasing from Authorized Distributors (together being “Retailers”) will be able to sell Games Workshop products (“Products”) through webstores, third party portals and auction sites (at an instant purchase price only).
>>
>>52195998
I like it, I try to buy from gw to support them but letting other retailers offer online lroducts is a good move.

Really enjoying this new direction
>>
>>52195852
Original? No, Developed? Fuck yes.
>>
Anyone know how to play Brayherds? From what I'm seeing it's a big melee rush army with a lot of synergy involved.

What are some of the weaknesses in the army and how can I plug them up?

I want to run a mainly infantry army for ease of transport so hopefully these are the guys.
