I ordered some mantic undead. These looked neat so I got em. Do you think if I made em hover a bit higher and put them on cavalry bases they would work as hex wraiths?

Alternatively put two on a cavalry base.

Other than cairne wraith what could they be?

I find the lack of trihorns disgusting

Yeah. As they are they are too small for proxying a cavalry model, but if you play with the bases it should go well.

What are some colours you'd like to see Troggoths in?
I'm thinking of purples and oranges so far but I want to do a really diverse load of colours.

Think of a water-rlated enviroment they could be in like a swamp, oasis, jungle river etc and give me some colours that you'd think Troggoths from there look like.

If I were to make exotic trolls, then i'd do something with the scales and imagine a kind of exotic fish.

Like bright orange scales, with the skin having different hues of teal and the leathery ear bits, eyes and perhaps claws or horns have some popping color like dark red or deep purple with a strong edge highlight.

Example of a palette would be.

Honestly I do think GW has ventured too far into the technological side of things with these guys. Too many of them look like honest-to-god Squats that walked straight out of 40k instead of Dwarfs with fancy powder and steam contraptions.

Going to be pinching some of those rotary guns though, I bet they'll make excellent Ratling Guns with a bit of work.
>>
>>52197474
This release aint half bad, the ships are lovely, but that fucking tophat... I try really hard to like AoS, I honestly do, but stuff like this makes me weep for the Old World.

Not that anon, but does it not make your cringe, even a little bit though? The flight suit guys are really nicely designed, but Mr Tophelmet doesn't seem to match the aesthetic they've tried to build in the slightest.
>>
>>52197553
Even as a grognard I'll admit that the airships are kind of neat.

But a guy with a literal steam-powered top hat, monocle and handlebar moustache with built-in guns? That's just laughably bad.
Different guy by the way.
>>
>>52197687
He's a character, he's allowed to look different.
>>
>>52197687
Nah, because Fantasy, AoS and 40k always have stupid shit.

If I want to be mature or respected, I would have thrown my toy army into the trash.
>>
>>52197687
I think that even without the tophat he is an eyesore.
>>
>>52197687
Not him, but why not? He has a top hat welded onto his helmet. By the other standards, such as the armored parrot or the beards of metal that is fairly benign.
The only thing that bothers me about that design is the chainfist. That thing does look out of place.
>>
>>52197706
Eh, different strokes and all that, I guess. I still have a soft spot for steampunk, so I guess I tolerate an armored tophat easier than others.

I'm not saying it's wackier than anything else, if they were all Victorian Steampunk then I'd buy the look. It's more that it seems out of place in the Dwarven/Pirate/WW1-Aviator look they've got going.

Not hating on AoS, I just think it stands out as a bit odd.

Oh, agreed on that. He does stand out, no doubt, I just think he does so in a good way (again, bar the chainfist). A unique character in fact *should* stand out, I'd say.

...I kinda want that now. Couple of dwarves wearing armored bowlers.
>>
>>52197790
Fun's been a part of Warhammer since it's origins, but for the most part it's kept a well thought through design aesthetic. Each model draws upon its race's themes and motifs and that gives a unified look to the army as a whole. Maybe they'll go with a full blown, cliched victorianpunk look in the end with these guys, but at the moment this character looks weirdly out of place.

The thing is that GW doesn't care for an aesthetic (or technological) coherence and just mashes in whatever looks cool. I think it's ok, because the fluff is so weak. So if I have to do the fluff work myself, the minis better be great. I can understand when people who care for the AoS fluff think certain things look weord though. Even I can't get over the fact how the new SCE guns look liike Bolters. It's really obvious that GW wants to sell marines. The SCE fag in my group loves them though, so I guess GW did the right thing...

Because steampunk is based around steam power, and copper having both superior malleability and heat dissipation was the superior metal for steam works. Think you're copper heat sink (aluminium isn't really a large force yet). Brass while similar to copper is a littler worse by more resistant to corrosion and oxidation making it the hardier material for harsh environments (air ships).

Metal models look fine but I think the real reason to prefer plastic is because it's so much easier to work with. I can understand that some people have grown used to working with metal minis, but with plastic it's easier to cut, glue, apply magnets and that lightness makes it the better material to convert with. You also just wouldn't get models like the new Celestine in metal.

I'm sure that there was some conversation about that in the design department. They could well have started like that, but these current models still have a strong fantasy feel, what with the "balloons" and (even more than typical 40k) impractical guns. I'd wager that they killed off any chance of being in 40k quite early on.
>>
>>52198230
Some (a lot) new units in a less tacky fashion (no need to be BONE 100%, add some wood and maybe tombstones/whatever inspired things) but with similar ideas would be the second (third?) coming of jesus nagash to death with some fluff books, even something wacky halloween flavored would be cool.

Pffft no. You can have a steampunk faction that is pure steam science that happens to live in a world with magic. Naturally scientists would investigate magic.
Steam punk is not what if was, steampunk is just a setting where steampower is dominant and the preferred form of technology.

So since skyship dwarfs have been confirmed, what's the odds of that sky pirate goblins faction popping up?

I don't care much for Age of Sigmar, but if there's anything that woild get me to give the game a second chance, it'd be sky pirate gobbos.

Do you guys think that any of the "old world" armies will ever get a battle tome or new sculpts for existing units? I personally don't think they will. It's only going to be new factions and new shit maybe some repackaged old stuff like the bone splittaz. I just don't see them remaking orcs and goblins without "reimagining" them. Could be wrong but I think the old wfb armies have a style that is moving quite far away from the newer aos armies.

This doesn't bother me by the way, I'm quite excited to see how the free guilds and whatever variation of elves look like when they come.

Also why has this release reignited the grognards rage?

Dorfs and their players are traditionalists.
Steampunk also gets hate
so does introducing technology to a magic game.

Now stick all three in a bowl and mix.

But the skin to armor ratio on stormcasts has been increasing, all the new kits have an unhelmeted option which puts them on par with old school warriors of chaos

Brcause dwarf players are the most stubborn and traditional players WHFB had, and this release directly aggitates them.

I sure as shit know that my Dwai will never set foot on an Age of Sigmar board. I'll just stick to using my Stormcasts, and any new AoS army instead of sullying my honourabe dwarf hold with AoS play.

Well the idea is to forge the soul into a gem. I'm that chaos dwarf fag who keeps posting in the threads with updates on pic related. The lore I got for these gems on the shoulders is that they are forged from the souls and ashes of their enemies in a horrifying hydraulic press. So I fancied the idea of the Daemonsmith in charge of this group wanted to capture "Lightning in a bottle" so to speak, and forge these brilliant gems made from the souls of suffering heros of the mighty warrior god Sigmar.

Should I just get over my autism and let 12 of my 40 skeletons have handweapons?
>>
>>52200943
Well, the thing with Nagash isn't that he can't capture Stormcast souls, it's that he feels he shouldn't have to. He's the God of Death, and by rights all souls go to him when they die, and this motherfucker isn't playing by the rules. He shouldn't have to personally intervene just because Sigmar gave them a fancy suit.

You need melee units to win games.
Standard slow infantry blobs serve this purpose adequately, and Khorne has plenty of them, which is thematically fitting.
The problem is that the only unit available to the Bloodbound that isn't standard melee footsloggers is subpar cavalry, which is a problem in a game where mobility and threat range are king.

They can still take stuff from Slaves to Darkness, though. Keep this in mind, you'll need it.

So with Dwarves getting airships, it won't be long til we see the Ironjawz airships, right?
>>
>>52203634

Fuck it. Everyone gets flying shit. Warhammer: Age of Sigmar; Sky Pirates, Assemble!
>>
>>52196837
They look great, the airships look baller AF, but why another dwarf race? We already have the fyredorfs, why do we need so many flavours of dwarf? I want a new race that is actually new.
>>
>>52203647
Ironjawz actually have airships in their lore, though.
>>
>>52203653

You did get Sylvaneth, which are arguably the most original, and Sigmarines. Albeit Sigmarines already exist in 40k.

>Sylvaneth
I forgot about them, they are pretty baller. Sigmarines rule or drool depending on the colour scheme in use.
>>
>>52203678
The lore describes them as floating scraphulks.
>>
>>52203647
Yeah! Imagine the stormcast with their uh, golden table, with lions and eagles pasted all over and uh giant ballistae that shoot thunders!
>>
>>52203717
That's.. interesting
>>
>>52203734

They do already have flying Stormcast, so maybe they'd ride on the backs of eagles. Though it seems High Elves have that MO.

Who's the retard who designed the Gore-Gruntas kit? Those ears are the dumbest thing I've ever had to put together.

lol

Forget that, they are so ugly that they look like the old boars were mutated by freddy krueger

Well there weren't no whales,
so we tell tall tales as we sing this whalin' tune

Dwarves still have the Gyrocopter, right? Combine with these sky-pirate Dwarves and you basically have an air force. Kitbash a huge carrier airship up and you could launch Gyrocopters from it.

Nail on the head right there.

Who needs new shit when my old shit works just fine at killing greenskins and fucking rats.

This is the complete opposite of dwarf aesthetic.

That stormie in the background riding a horsie?

given the rest of AoS, they don't look that bad but WHERE ARE THE BEARDS?!?!
>>
My Tomb Banshee should have arrived in store today but the manager is ill and not opening... This is why one-man stores don't fucking work.

What is everyone doing hobbywise today? I was going to be painting that, but I guess it will just be more work on my skeletons.
>>
>>52198133
But we don't have some of that shit.

I just want some of the more generic Tomb King stuff repackaged so that there's easier access to archers and giants. I would love an equivalent unit to Morghasts that is a big skeleton that doesn't look retarded.

Are squats coming back?
