Lets discuss how 30k is bad for the 40k setting overall.
When I first got into 40k, the idea was the Horus Heresy was so distant in the past that it was just myth and no one really knew what happened, it was all just stories. For comparison, our civilization has existed for 5000, maybe 6000 years, to the average imperial citizen the story of the emperor far more archaic to them than the bible is to us, consider that.

The mystery of the horus heresy left you wondering, the only thing you knew for sure were the primarchs existed and so did the Emperor, anything else was total speculation- the nobledark peoples story of the heresy could be true, the heresy might entirely be a metaphor for God Emperor of Dune, there was no way to really know.

Even when the Horus Heresy books started coming out it was like oh these arent my cup of tea but its cool, they're just like recorded stories of the primarchs and we can still project whatever we want onto the unknown mythos of the heresy.

Even when the 30k tabletop came out it was like, well, these rogue trader models still look like shit, even when you do them FW. But its cool, Ill happily play against 30k armies and it lets 40k players play a fictional historical, its really cool that way.

But then we have faggots like you, who ruin the entire thing for everyone. You take every peice of Space Marine dick jerking in the HH books to be literal gospel, preaching that space marines are 8ft, and veterans in terminator armor are 9fth, and then chapter masters and captains are 10ft, primarchs? fuck dude they were like 25ft tall, and the Emperor? He was straight up like 200ft tall.

The chapter itself is supposed to be something like the emperor's children were known to be; focused a lot on perfecting their arts, using actual arts--singing, sculpture, whatever--as a form of prayer and meditation as well as practicing battle-drills and such.

I like the idea of faithful Emperors childre esque loyalist chapter, you should definetly have slaaneshi cults be a hush hush issue that the marines constantly have to deal with. Make the ruling elite a secret society thtat has its higher members worshiping Slaanesh and you've got some serious depth there with how that dynamic works out- you could have your chapter trying to keep the cults existence hush hush from the IQ to keep them from glassing their homeworld whilst they try to fix it.

Once they got the attention of the high lords, it wouldnt be incredibly difficult. A fleet or starships or a few billion soldiers as a gracious tithe could do it- unfortunately the issue is you need a lot of systems to come up with the resources for that.

The answer is simple, make the slaaneshi cabal span the ruling dynasties of several star systems, they all value the SM homeworld as their special gem though.

My Slaanesh warbands fluff is written up that theyre a wandering fleet that use cults like what I just described to get secretly siphoned resources and slaves under the Imperiums nose to resupply, not having an actual homeworld lets them stay on the move so that they dont ever get intercepted by a larger imperial fleet in an unfavorable situation.

I was thinking about how infinitely better a squad of Custodes is better than a squad of Paladins and for cheaper. And this would be one of the biggest changes. I know that. I understand that Custodes are FUCKING MONSTERS in combat. The point I'm trying to get across is: Why would I ever take Paladins when Custodes are better in all ways except weapons options? You want some actual melee monsters? Take Custodes.

No, the Paladins wouldn't get Eternal Warrior or Storm Shields, but they'd have the statline similar, but still not as good as Custodes. For being the "BEST OF DA BEST" they're rather un-impressive, so I want them to better reflect their fluff. They'd keep their current wargear choices almost as is, but just be better.

The example statline I was thinking of was:

All current Paladin rules, and add the Sanctuary power to the Paladins. So they know Force, Banishment, Hammerhand, and Sanctuary, but are still ML1. This would give them access to a pseudo-Iron Halo at the cost of extra strength/debuffing enemies. It would also help lessen the fear of having your points heavy, t4 2 wound kick-ass motherfuckers get instagibbed by a damn Dark/Bright Lance and/or other s8(or 9/10) AP2 shots from across the map.

I'd also like to open up Biomancy to the Librarians only.

It seems like I'm a whiny little bitch, but playing a low-model army that does not translate well at all from their fluff and getting blown out of the water surely by volume of fire(not even quality, mind you) and usually conceding by turn 3 or 4 is not fun. I get that they will just about always be outnumbered, but the stuff they have to offset the lack of numbers is not of high enough quality to even think about turning the odds slightly in your favor.

Still don't see it doing any meaningfull damage to the road surface, do you? Dynamic loads are different, that's true, but you're underestimating how tough pavement is in general. Plus the Imperium has a hard-on for tracked vehicles over wheels so their average road surface has to be hard enough to resist getting chewed up by grouser plates since rubber track plates are apparently lostech.

Is it finished? Honestly, the fact that the rockets are green while the rest of it is gunmetal grey makes it look a bit like you intended to do more green sections. I'd say either drastically tone back the green on the missiles, like maybe make the body grey and the fins green, or introduce much more green onto the tank itself.

Number one issue? Nerf the retarded shit at the top of the power spectrum. This is the single biggest issue for the "mid tier" books.

Number two issue? Unfuck the psychic phase. Probably just remove it entirely, go to something like 6e, but no random powers and replace Deny the Witch with faction-specific means of interfering with psykers. A lot of them would be less "u no cast" and more "it's harder to cast" or "your spell is weakened" or "you're more likely to perils."

Number three issue? Grey Knights, like a lot of elite MEQ's, are overcosted relative to their actual efficacy. They need minor points adjustments across the codex. As part of this, you might go back to NFW not all being actual Force Weapons, in order to make reducing costs on their infantry more acceptable.

Number four issue? Make combat resolution matter for Fearless and ATSKNF units. Combat resolution is this big piece of the rules, with wargear that messes with it in the majority of codexes, that's just completely ignored by the majority of the factions in the game. Making combat resolution matter is a massive buff to ALL of the assault armies (and an entire army of dudes with Force Weapons IS an assault army).

I got a rules question. The Ynarri special rule strength from death allows you to soulburst and make a movement, shooting or charge attack. If you soulburst in the middle of combat you start your new combat at the current initiative phase, ie if you killed a unit at i6 you start the new combat at the end of i6 and none of your i6 units can attack.

What would happen in the Yncarne killed something at i10 and then soulbursted through cover? As he does not have assault grenades his i is dropped to i1, would this allow him to attack in the new combat at i1. Similarly if an autarch were to purchase both a laser lance and a power axe could he kill a unit with the lance at i7 and then soulburst into a new combat and attack with his axe at i1?

There's too much fnp as it is in this game. GKs dont really have a reason to get it anyways. If you want to increase survivability you could bring back that old shrouding rule where there were penalties for shooting at them from afar in the daemonhunters book?

I do miss all the neat arcane wargear from that old codex. Daemonhunters using a mix of creepy relics, bones, sorcery, eldritch wards and belt fed blessed machine guns, power armor, teleporters, and psychically attuned medieval blades was what drew me in.

I really wish Vortex of Doom wasn't in Sanctic so I could roll for it with Ahriman and potentially shit out 3 Vortex templates per turn.

Yeah I had just a squad of terminators and a 10 man squad of interceptors (deep strike) and the rest of my list was stormtroopers and inquisitor lord with buff retinue. I was pretty disappointed when 5th hit and they killed all the cool inquisitorial stuff and allies.

I can finally put my inquisitor in a valkyrie with tempestus though. I got some new storm troopers and I can just attach the mini knights formation from imperial agents to pseudo revive my old list.
