Chaos is the one army where that hardly matters at all. I bought 2 boxes of CSM for the helmets and a few spikey bits, but a lot of my models are mostly made of things from various loyalist kits.

About to play a game against a new player with his Orks. Want some advice for a list

My general idea was a Chaos sorcerer (rolling everything on the Slaanesh table), 3 squads of cultists with various weapons, a 3 man combi-plasma terminator squad, and a Rhino with some extra guns.

Would an Ork list be able to handle that? The cultists do have a couple flamers between them.

What should I add next ? I'm using the bikes for split fire and ignoring dangerous terrain but I'm not sure what to do with the Captain since the army is mainly going to shoot. Perhaps drop the Vanguards and get a dropship for anti-air or a Raider for something that's harder to kill, starts on the table and could be used as cover ?

That or I could ally in the SM formation with the Whirlwinds and Land Speeder for support fire ? It's mobile but perhaps not as hard hitting as the kill teams that need to alpha strike.

Be real, a lot of models still have fucking SPRUE NUBS on them, and completely unscraped mold lines that are super glaring. The drilled barrels meme is annoying but a lot of the models do have major imperfections.

I cleaned up the silver on his armour and left all of the blue as a very thin line in the recesses. Its important to have the core HQ and troop choices before you start branching out into stuff like fiends and seekers, or other misc csm units. Daemonettes and Noise Marines are your bread and butter, and should make up the bulk of any list you make.

The uncorrupted Death Guard scheme in white with green shoulders. If you just want olive Marines then make up some fucking olive Marines. Almost all of the loyalist Death Guard were killed.

They can't. You can have a group of Death Guard using the old colours.

They don't have to actually be loyal, just use they're coloursfor whatever reason.

Also, completely new to the list builder (and the crunch in general) - is there any way for it to recognize the free items some units can get? (free heavy weapon for 5th member of squad, etc.) Bit tired of it telling me that the 1850 list I put together is worth 1970.

Yeah, but you have to take the formation in list builder. It does it for VotLW for traitor legions

Only has that option for the Space Marine Gladius Strike Force so far. If you want to go in-depth and have a "full package" of things, with the builder recognizing free items, you'll have to use Battlescribe.

Is turning a Culexus into a gatling gun by feeding him psykers viable?

It's pretty squishy on paper, but the Culexus himself is pretty much immune to ranged attacks and firing a whole unit's worth of shots at a three-man, 30pt unit is a good waste of your opponent's shooting phase if nothing else.

Good distraction carnifex? No one is going to want a BS8, S5, AP1, Assault 9 gun pointed at their units, even with a limited range of 18"
