Kinda. There's a limit to how much of a "boon" a 250 point assault transport that barely does anything else is.

It is really weird that the FW Custodes transport isn't assault. Even an open topped Grav platform would make a shit ton of sense. Ride in style with no need for extra protection or something.

The FW one is a nice vehicle but not a very helpful transport. The godhammer helps as a transport but is kind of a shitty vehicle.

You can soak them in Castrol Super Clean. That stuff eats all the paint from resin, plastic, and metal with no issues. Pretty decent price too. I haven't had good luck with Simple Green.

I'm really fond of the Alpha Legion shit and some of the Thousand Sons ones. Alpha get baller fucking armour and guns and TS get nice support stuff.

Is it just me or do all of these CSM changes fail to adress the issues that CSM have? A lot of them even make it worse.

There's two ways to be viable now; Nurgle Bikespam and Flying Circus.

Almost all of our options are overpriced, and the flying circus and bikespam already existed, now it's even stronger, while other setups got a minor buff, if at all. They should have just released a new codex.

Seraphim are fun with 2x pair of Flamer pistol and shred.

Retribution with HB can be good for Rending but not that impressive. Now with HF and pipe line can be funny enough. Torrent HF is decent.

Here is a concept. You put 9 Immolators with 6x BSS (HF+F), 3x MeltaDominions and 3 Exorcist under 1850 and still have points left.

I'm a returning player and haven't played since 4th edition, I want to make a pure Militarum Tempestus army; is there any reason I can't use the command squad as my core infantry unit rather than the regular Tempestus scions?

For 15pts, you get exactly the same unit, which can do everything the regular troops can do, except with an extra wound, two initiative 4 attacks rather than initiative 3, leadership 9 and the ability to give itself a order every single turn.

Is there any drawback/rules reason you can't use HQs as troops? As far as I can make out from the new army formation rules, all I'll be losing is the ability to use Tempestus Formation rules, all of which are 'meh' as fuck compared to every unit having leadership 9 and the ability to use different orders for every squad in the army.

You are going to get your shit pushed in and not enjoy the game. Lords are totally worthless compared to princes and sorcerers and are only taken when required for formations. Your chosen simply won't preform well at all hwen only a few of them have meltaguns, the mark of slaanesh is wasted points. Noise marines are okay, but tend to under preform. None of your sergeants should have power wepaons, it's wasted points since they will rarely get to close combat. The heldrake needs a baleflammer, the autocannon only works as AA, but most lists don't use a lot of flamers. Havocs should be MSU, there is no point in having ablative wounds for them, mark of slaanesh gives them no benefit, and the icon makes the squad too expensive. You could run 2 MSU havoc squads with autocannons for the same price as your one squad. Slaanesh daemons are just mediocre all around. Fluffwise Ynarri is a big rising star, while the Deldar are divided and Comorragh is still in turmoil over the breakdown in Khaine's Gate and the Tyranid outbreak, and the Craftworlds still on their slow trek down.
