Hey all, we're going through some more checks, but SoM's playtest should be happening sometime next week as long as everything holds strong. My playtest game is going well, and I'm looking forward to seeing any other playtest games that happen so we can fine tune everything perfectly.

Sadly Preview 3 is really out of date, which is why I haven't been checking it that much, but we'll be working to make everything much more concise and fun for the full playtest.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with picking your party 100% based off of your fetishes, in fact, I encourage it, your game should pander to you.

The problem is that when a DM makes it clear what'll pander to them, they'll get characters who're just designed to get in. This can turn out okay, but it can easily become them taking a turn as soon as they're locked in and doing something else, or playing along but being really shallow about it. It's just not good for a game, you want your players to be passionate about their characters, and with any luck, passionate about your shared fetish.

I wonder how this happened.

I am considering changing Talathel's build in a fairly major way and am wondering about some opinions along these lines. I have considered changing him so that he will no longer be in melee, as melee even with the existing party seems as if it will be a crowded place. A support based ranged damage dealers seems as if they'll have an easier time fitting into the party as a whole.

The problem with this is it would require actually changing around my stats for ranged combat viability. The easiest place to cut, I have found, is pushing Talathel's Constitution score to 10 in exchange for his strength score to go to 12. With 12 strength and Smite Impudence I think that constitutes enough that he at the very least will not be embarrassing in ranged combat.

The other issue however is his Auras. Unlike a normal Anti-paladin his Auras are split to half buff and half debuff and only work on close allies. Meaning he would be forced to sit in close melee with his bow, somewhere around 10ft behind the party, in order to keep them buffed while he fires, or he would have to abandon buffing his party via that means.

Either way he is not a primary damage dealer, between his Auras, Bardic Performance, and Oracle spells he mostly goes after buffing and support rather than straight damage. So I am unsure how much this matters anyway.

A Ranged Anti-paladin I am simply found is exceedingly mad, especially as a race that does it poorly, and even more so when he has aging penalties.

Should I stay in melee or move to close ranged?

I seemed to have answered the question for myself while building. I changed things around to be a ranged combatant. I also realized that wearing fullplate is far too heavy for the character, this coupled with how little dex I can add to my score while in fullplate it became apparent the easiest thing to do for the build was drop my dex score. Str 14/Dex 14 seems to be a sweet spot in this case. However it still came at the cost of dropping Talathel's con to 10.

Ranged combat fits the character better as well I have realized, as he normally fights with the idea that ability to escape if needed is paramount, as well as a natural desire that others go into direct combat instead of him. Buffing and ranged combat seem to be natural conclusions of this as well as Battlefield Control.

If apps wrap up on Tuesday, there's a very good chance someone will show up with what you're looking for. I think two of the waiting list characters on Raunchy applied in the last four hours. I don't think I'll do any major rewrites from this point onwards, particularly on his personality. I really like where the character is at the moment. If he doesn't fit in with the party that's fine. Sorry, doing playtest prep stuff.

The focus of the book is supposed to be a dragonic race along the lines of the dragonborn, but with the flexibility of aasmiar/tiefling in concept of alternative heritages. It also has tons of alternative racials and such, as well as archetype support. There's also a lot of breath weapon support too.

It's being pushed back due to other things though, I'm not sure I'll be able to playtest it sadly.
