We're looking for recruits right now for a hard reboot, as three of our players have left us/will be leaving us. Party is on the Lawful Side of neutral, but a few Neutral/Chaotic Evil people who could work with the lawful side would not be inappropriate.

You know, a lot of the 3/4 caster classes are really fun as fuck to play, and still get to cast spells enough times past level 1 to feel like casters, though they will often play as martials until things get dire.


The most 'pure' feeling caster is probably the alchemist, but the other 3/4 classes are solid.

I got into WotR with only a cursory examination of the setting by using the pathfinder wiki(I have never played a game in Golarion before).

It's more important to tune your character to the GM's expectations and to create a character who is in theme with the adventure.

So need some help here, /tg/. Not with clearing up a concept or anything, I've got everything like that down pat. Going to be playing a Morei-blooded Dhampir (+2 STR, +2 CHA, -2 CON) Paladin of Imoedae, with the Undead Scourge and Warrior of Holy Light archetypes with the Dayborn alternate racial trait. I don't care for the spellcasting that a Paladin gets (doesn't really fit them in my mind), so whwile suboptimal in losing spellcasting, I'm fine with taking the Warrior of Holy Light archetype.

My question is what are the best ways to increase the save DCs for supernatural abilities as a Paladin? Both of my archetypes give abilities that target the enemy with save-or-suck style attacks (Undead Annihilation for Undead Scourge and Shining Light for Warrior of Holy Light), and because my Paladin is dedicated to the destruction of undead and liches and such, he wants to be the absolute best at them (ie he wants to smash the undead with one hit that they can't recover from or put them at a strategic disadvantage so that his companions can clean house easier).

So yeah, outside of items that jack up his Charisma (17 at the moment at first level, not sure if I'll invest one stat boost or three to it yet) to increase the DCs (both run on 10+1/2 of Paladin's level+Cha mod), what are some ways to increase the DCs? Undead Annihilation is a Reflex save and Shining Light is a Will save by the way. Oh, and no 3pp content.

I'm going to preface this one with a confession. As with a few other dragon apps, I didn't really like Vorelira and I unfairly made a lot of jokes at her expense. Vore jokes. Ageplay jokes. I also don't like her art, which was clearly cropped out of furry porn.

Beyond that, though, Vorelira just... doesn't have a lot to her. She's lazy and indolent and doesn't care about other people. She has no ambitions and no goals beyond continuing to bask in the pleasures of luxury and sex and gluttony. She's the draconic equivalent of a basic bitch, who couldn't get with the talented dilf hottie who's talents she didn't even really appreciate and settled with some rando human. After she got bored of him, she abandoned him and her actual children to go back to her old routine. Adventures are a sideline. She dislikes the exertion of travel and challenges of the outside world.

Why is she adventuring? Why has she made herself disposable to the Dragon Queen instead of continuing to bask in her excess? What makes her tick?

These are all questions I would have wanted to see answered in the profile, that ultimately weren't.

Also shockingly, every joke about her eating people was absolutely correct. At the bottom of a personality section that I didn't read until now, she actually does mention that she doesn't actually mind eating people.

The pride, I think is okay as long as one exhibits it appropriately. After all, there's nothing wrong with acknowledging one's own skills and accomplishments. The problem comes when pride leads to arrogance, and since the solar dragon in question is mentally the equivalent of a teenager, she's got arrogance in spades. She's quite cocky and takes poorly to criticism. As for the greed... She's not the sort to steal or even necessarily take more than her fair share, but she'll have a hard time willing herself to give up her gold. She doesn't have a anything big enough to call a hoard, but she does use her coin purse as a small pillow.

Anyway, yeah, it is pretty self-aggrandizing, I can't deny that. I wish there was more lore for them (and the other outer dragons) though, we only have like a paragraph for each kind. Because there's so little official lore to go by, I took some liberties with it for my solar dragon PC- like her egg crash-landing on Golarion like a meteor. Superman similarities are purely coincidental and only skin deep. I also wish there were more official images of solar dragons, because I certainly can't find anything unofficial that feels right. Just using a red or gold dragon feels lazy.

Also yeah, Kill Six Billion Demons. Get on that shit man, that webcomic is kickass. There's a good amount of it out now, been running for a while, but not so much that you couldn't get yourself caught up in a two or three days, or a day if you're dedicated.

Now for the good: being an inherently shitty person with no motivation, Vorelira has a lot of potential for personality growth as she's forced out of her shell. I'd probably read a webcomic about a smug fat dragon princess being forced to go outside and fight dudes for the honor of her multiheaded dragonmom empress, making friends and facing challenges and eventually growing to become a better person (become a better dragon? Oh wait I totally made that joke already), but this is perhaps the weakest app so far out of any I've read.

That said, a lazy coward who sits on her laurels is basically how I imagine chromatic dragons being in general, so kudos on capturing the feel there. She's the most authentically draconic PC posted to date, and her not playing out millenia-long dragon grudges makes sense on account of mom being hostile to things that demand her being woken up.

She feels more like an NPC encounter than a real player character.

But for her final review:

Livie is a bit of a breath of fresh air. She's a shitty person, but she's a likeable shitty person. She stalks the night, she encourages the worst acts of others, she kills people, she worships ostensibly the worst beings in the cosmos (daemons just want to fucking end it all, and don't even have the demons' corruption fetish) and she didn't even care that her own mother died. But she has style and panache.

She's taken taken the powerlessness of her early life in stride and from it, begun her journey as the herald of a dark and malicious deity.

Her motivation for showing up is pretty understandable: she's going to go be a shitty person in the Demesne and enjoy a free trip while leaning more about herself.

Sanctified Slayer is shit as a ranged user though. Don't get me wrong, it's okay overall, but you can't study as an immediate because it's hard to apply your sneak attack damage, because you can't flank them with a bow. You're right about the skill bonuses, but you already have 6 skill points per level, you're not exactly hurting on that front. I'd prefer some of the versatility that Judgements (which last the entire combat, not just one round), grant, such as DR, damage, and bonuses to hit.

I guess since you guys are here for savagery, I'll begin with savagery. Mercedes' application is a fucking slog to get through. It adds physical descriptions where it needs none, unnecessary dialogue inserts, and tons of extraneous content. It's very long despite not actually having a lot of movement or progression, besides the movement from her being a rebellious girl to an insecure girl to a girl who finds solace in the faith of her goddess of beauty. You could easily chop it in half, add a bunch of names and personality traits rather than detailed physical descriptions and have a way better backstory section.

The narrative starts out clear and strong and sputters, falling over itself after FightDad, the Dad Who Fights, ruins her martial pride as the rebellious tomboy daughter. Important figures in her life go unnamed, like her mentor or her mother.

Her personality is mealy and starts off with odd prose, and doesn't give any kinetic beats or strong features. She's not even a tomboy but also not very girly. She's blunt and direct and physical but swayed by beauty and words and other immaterial stuff. There are no axes of personality laid out, no morality, no desires or compulsions. I kind of like that her bravado is mostly faked, and that she's quite sensitive and insecure under it all... because it's an actual personality trait as opposed to the waffling laid out before.

Her Shelynite beliefs don't play out that much, despite her being a level 3 Warpriest (at a point where her faith should be quite affirmed). Why does she care that anybody finds out she dances? Doesn't her goddess teach her to appreciate and demonstrate beauty, to aspire to art and wonder?

I have a lot of questions.

How does Mercedes present herself? How does she want to be perceived? Does she have any goals besides becoming famous and respected? Does she have any important relationships? Who are their names?

I would have liked more about her stage persona, too.

I did like some parts, though, and her general inclusion into the party is straightforward if mercenary. The tattoo was a cute touch.

From a writing standpoint, my main complaint is that your prose is often mealy and you add adverbs like "odd", that muddle rather than specify statements.

This was something that stuck out to me when I read the app. I can only assume the player was looking to stack unchained and chained Flurry of Blows mechanics, then stuck the faith thing in after the thought.

It feels like Mercy is the victim of a succession of rewrites, which is why there are some holes in the narrative and her backstory/beliefs sometimes don't mesh with other personality traits. The player is a competent writer, from what I can see, so a few edit passes and some time to integrate all of the parts could make for a really good application.

Xen's whole application is 371 words and 2134 characters. With a little editing you could fit the whole thing into the average post on /tg/. Coupled with a meandering backstory, there's very little said about him. You get a snippet about the place he's from (some kind of island), the fact he has a grandmother and that his dad is some shifty deity who rolls the bones but doesn't believe in luck, if you know what I mean. There's basically nothing here.

He's submissive and not very direct, he's a dragon. He has some early 2000's art style dragonboy in a blue wraparound as his character image. His relationship to his deity is mostly reluctant.

I've said this before, like several times now but: NAMES. Give these things names. Name where you're from. Name your dad. Name your mom. Name your mysterious unnamed god.

Kardri is kind of a huge loser. His backstory is a stream of failing to live up to the abilities of his family and peers, to the legacy of his draconic ancestors and the talents of his wizard father. Of finding a new self through martial study, that's quickly dashed against the rocks and eventually losing his goddamn mind.

I'd read a manga about Kardri.

Would I want him in my party? Not really. While I like the character, I feel like his chuuni antics would be an albatross and it could easily go very very wrong for a party. Formal events ruined, diplomacy shattered. He could easily die in a hundred of different suicidal ways.

I also have other questions, like why does this guy suck? He's a level 3 initiator and fighter. At that point you're supposed to be half-swording dudes in the face and shattering their spines with a swift geisel to the back.

Otherwise his personality is a lot of what we've seen so far. Someone insecure who puts on a persona, who is mostly defined by his failures.

I feel like the backstory and personality are adequate but don't feel like they're appropriate. I'd like him in a game of Chuubo's Marvelous Wish-Granting Engine, Golden Sky Stories or Fate Core, where you're treating his incapability as a story beat rather than a tactical weakness that undermines your party's success. I could see his setup even working for a Level 1 character, who's never tasted success and begins to be taken over by his chuuni persona as he grows in skill and ability and has to wonder if his victories are caused by himself or The Other, but not at Level 3.

Other things: names. NAMES. Name your things, name your relatives, name more things. I'm going to ring off like this forever, aren't I?

His personality doesn't give much on his moral compass, or what he believes in.

All in all, decent but flawed. His emotional complexes need to be adjust to fit with the level of play everyone is starting at.

Hey all. It's been a bit, and I'm sorry for the short silence, but I wanted to drop an avowed update, as well as a large post discussion the reasoning behind some of the recent changes, for people to look at and think about.

Yorh- Tamrir's reluctance to go along with the party because of her backstory seems like it could go either way in terms of characterization, so I won't write it off as annoying.

It'll be interesting to see how this goes.

Good to know you took the itemization suggestion to heart. Ran numbers in pastebin and the numbers were definitely low; in particular due to the flat inability to optimize.

Obviously the missiles and/or barrage need the right kind of.... launchers as their items. Leg missiles, shoulder missiles, full armor missiles everywhere, big fat missiles hooked under your shield...

Not sure if you're simplifying things, or if I didn't properly convey it - the body is constant and too expensive to rebuild. Each iteration is technically a different soul inhabiting said body (meaning, "level" gets reset and they're basically a new character with the same stats, etc.). The Dragon at the diplomatic post (Working name is Yaldabaoth, though that's probably too pretentious. Maybe Astaphanos?) is probably the most important part of her backstory because it's his influence that ultimately leads 19E Gamil to request a posting in the Diaspora, and its him who takes her in when a recently reset... working name Epsilla, stumbles in through the Garundi portal to the Demense.

She'll actively be surpressing her secondary driving urge, because from her current context it makes no sense. Most it will cause from her is distance, coldness, and perhaps a fondness for schadenfreude.

Rorymei's backstory defines two things: why he isn't enjoying a happy life in his Andoran village full of relatively nice people, and how he got his powers. The village taxidermist bit is cute and is reflected on his sheet, but that relationship doesn't really feel realized besides the mention.

Overall, it's a pretty weak app despite the length and doesn't really inspire pathos for the character, who feels a lot like if the kid from The Omen was chosen by Dracosatan. He disturbs the people around him, craves power and acts in troubling, unchildlike ways while still young (cutting a deal with the witches while clearly knowing he's using them on his rise sticks out).

I'll also comment that while I have a fetish for traps, the art doesn't work for me. Something about the face's creepy expression, or the skeevy outfit just don't work for me. But that's personal taste.
