>Dagoth Endus: [Dagoth brandy] is a rare nectar beyond compare, distilled ages before your ancestor's ancestors. And a fitting toast to our challenge. Would you like to sample it?

>The Imperator then stirred, and Shonni-Et made move to love him, with now Sed-Yenna cleaning his feet with sponge-felts from the Pyadon. And Reman gave his acquiesce, willing his blood into brandy for his younger wife to drink...

I was in a thread yesterday about elves and one anon brought up that he wished D&D Elves acted more like TES elves.

I'm sure he means how elves act in the lore, because in the games their behaviour is fairly generic.

How would you say the many different kinds of TES elves act? How different is that from the perceived behaviours of D&D elves?
>>
>>52001086
>How would you say the many different kinds of TES elves act?
Along the lines of their culture and depending on factors like
>what era it is
>what year it is in that era
>what sub-culture they belong to
>what their religious views are
and so on.
>>
>>51999792

>>

*enlighten
>>
>>52001180
That's pretty vague, im looking more for specifics.
>>
>>52001821
Then you'd have to specify all the above. A 4th era Thalmor and a 2nd Era Orc arn't going to act similar in any way.
>>
>>52001821
You should read the First PGE for a general overview.

https://www.imperial-library.info/content/pocket-guide-empire-and-its-environs-first-edition

But, for example, take a Dunmer. When is it? Velothi Exodus? High Velothi Culture? Resdayn? Morrowind under the Third Empire? Who's being worshiped? The Three Good Daedra? Almsivi? The Anticipations? The Reclamations? What House? What social caste? Velothi underclass? A priest? What kind of priest? Tribunal? Which one? Or maybe a Dissident?

A great deal of effort has gone into defining culture above race in TES.
>>
>>52001863
>How different is that from the perceived behaviours of D&D elves?
This is a little easier to address. I don't know much about D&D, but my impression, and this is also the way that TES used to be (which as based on D&D originally), is that they're more of a Tolkien stereotype than actual fleshed out cultures.
>>
>>52001984
Whoops, I meant to quote >>52001086

The reason why TES elves are different is because during the 90s a few writers looked as TES and thought, "let's change this."

Well, want to illustrate a TES-based tarot deck using significant figures from the series/lore as the appropriate cards & I've reached an impasse. I'm just at the deciding phase & there's a few characters I can't place. I have:
Fool: LDB
Emperor: Talos
Hierophant: probs Uriel
Lovers: ALMSIVI or Alessia+Morihaus
Chariot: Numidium
Hermit: Sotha Sil
Wheel of Fortune: Aurbis
Hanged Man: Lorkhan
Devil: Dagoth Ur
Tower: Red Mtn
Judgement: Nerevar
World: Mundus (or just Nirn)
I'm at a loss with the other cards and can't figure out Vivec, Aka, & Alessia, Morihaus, and Pelinal. If any of yall have any input, I'd love to hear it!

Dimensions of the exterior model, and do the various interior instanced room-cells overlap each other in impossible ways.

Oh fun fact about that, some games don't even need overt loadscreens to overlap in defiance of physics. The original Jedi Knight had levels that were literally impossible geometry using only behind the scenes loading.

Isn't the downside that a Briarheart can have their heart ripped out of their chest and die? Through pick-pocketing anyway. Also they're undead.

>>52007658
>>52007495
>Clan Indoril claims kinship with all three of the legendary Tribunes, which doubtless accounts for Indoril's preeminence among the five clans. Indoril's capital is Almalexia, also the capital of Morrowind itself, and the Tribunal priesthood (which is one and the same as the bureaucracy of civil government) is dominated by the Indoril and their subclans. Clan Redoran guards the western flank of Morrowind, and are known as the best warriors among the Dark Elves. Clan Telvani is the most xenophobic of a xenophobic race, shunning all contact with outsiders, preferring to tend their herds of giant insects amid the rocky hills and islands of the extreme northeast. Telvani bug-musk is a highly prized perfume among the Dark Elves, and their riding-insects command the highest prices in the markets of Almalexia and Narsis. Clan Dres rules the southern sweep of Morrowind, where the fertile Deshaan plain merges with the swamps of Black Marsh. The Dres are the great slave-traders and plantation owners of Morrowind. Thousands of wretched captives, mainly Argonians but including not a few khajiits and even Imperial citizens, pass through the infamous slave-pens of Tear, the Dres capital, from whence most find an early death on the plantations which surround that ill-omened city. Clan Hlaalu is the smallest and weakest of the five clans, clinging to Great House status in their ancient capital of Narsis. Traditional enemies of the Indoril, who have controlled the levers of government for 3,000 years, the continued resilience of the Hlaalu must inspire a certain respect. Merchants and traders in a land that despises outsiders, the Hlaalu nevertheless maintain a limited commerce with the Empire, trading stout Imperial broadcloth and Cyrodilic brandy for the elegant trinkets produced by the admittedly skilled craftsmer of Morrowind.

TES lore and Evangelion are two of the weirdest forms of quasi-public freemasonry springing up in the current public consciousness. I think it's because people who fell in love with one or both are now old enough to start sticking their creative cock wherever they want, so you get a lot of bleedover in media, find weird little conversations like that one in the oddest corners, etc.

I can confirm Bethesda cheats all the time when it comes to interiors. Just a simple 'tcl' in the console and you can already see how shape and size of some buildings doesn't match up at all, Velothi towers are a good example. Go inside one and tcl your way out.

I'm 'that guy' recreating Elder Scrolls builds in Minecraft and it can be such a pain in the ass having to significantly scale down the interior or scale up the exterior every time

So I've been studying Hindu philosophy a lot lately, and a lot of the ideas/inspirations Kirkbride took from it are already pretty apparent (and interesting). Anybody know of any good resource where Kirkbride talks about what inspirations he took from Hindu/Buddhist philosophy/why/what it means?

Head canon incoming

>Brotherhood of War
Revisionist adherents of Boethiah, political and military activists and plotters
>Brotherhoods of Mercy and Justice
Sister temples, both for the Divines, specifically Stendarr
>Brotherhood of Gideon
Local theocracy/cult, protecting and working with the foreigners who believe in the Divines
>Brotherhood of Charity
Evangelical cult of Divines, focused on Zenithar
>Brotherhood of Seth
http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Seth#Seth
>Conclave of Baal
Successors of an ancient esoteric Nedic Cult of Molag Bal, whose devotion is a mixture of Ayleid, Kothringi and Cyrodiilic cultures. Neither evil nor good, they see Bal as a capricious and demanding yet protective patriarch. They organize like a secretive cult
>Conclave of the One
Prophetic cult of mystics and psykers, following the steps of Shezarrines. Xenophobic and pacifist, they observe and praise in their own alien way. Possibly secretly influenced by Nocturnal and/or Azura.
>Conclave of Solitude
Vampiric clan
>Conclave of Riana
Originally a Yokudan society of devotees, became a Rotary-like trades guild. After the Camoran Usurper, invaders of Hammerfell who hailed from Valenwood went back to their homeland, taking with them the Conclave. Hence, it's found in both Longvale(V) and Verkarth(H).
>other Conclaves
Ascetic monasteries with their own pantheons of saints, heroes and interpretations. They hold great and mostly responsible influence over nearby common folk.
>Order of the Golden Tomb
Fundamentalist crusaders for Talos, who go to Sancre Tor for pilgrimage.
>Order of the One Prophet
Marukh revivalists
>Order of the Gentle Hand
A Khajiiti philosophy influenced benevolent criminal organization, similar to Bal Molagmer
>Order of the Red Rose
Political branches of the Temples of Dibella
>Order of the Knights of Hope
Similar to Knights of Thorn, misled adventurers from Dawnstar, congregated around a vampire slayer who preaches a pseudoreligion of zealotry.

I agree with some but
>Brotherhood of War
Would likely be devoted to all sorts of War gods, such as Reman, Talos, and Ebonarm. Though Boethiah as well.
>Brotherhood of Gideon
I like your description, but Gideon is heavily associated with Seth worship.
>Conclave of the One
The main Imperial Cult devoted to Akatosh, the Covenant and likewise connection between the Empire/Emperor and the divine. Basically the standing cult degeneration of Alessianism after its collapse.
>Conclave of Solitude
I'd associate it with the actual city of Solitude. A vampire clan probably wouldn't be very excepted.
>Order of the Red Rose
Definitely devoted to Ebonarm

How far did the Dwemer territory extend? There's Morrowind, of course, and a good deal of Skyrim, but did the Dwemer have places in High Rock, Cyrodiil, or even Hammerfell?
>>
>>52013520
The Dwemer have holds all the way over to High Rock and Hammerfell. You can read more about it here:

>>
>>52013520
>In 1E 420, the militaristic Rourken clan opposed the accord with the Chimer and chose self-exile.[19][20] Their chieftain is said to have thrown the Volendrung Hammer across Tamriel and led his clan to wherever the hammer fell, an image which has been depicted in a number of ruins in Hammerfell. The Rourken named the land "Volenfell," which later was somewhat mistranslated to "Hammerfell".

>Daggerfall
Daggerfall.

>Morrowind
Sadrith Mora. Fantastic town with amazing design, great starter quests, and after the Gateway quest, everyone loves you. Just wish there was a decent house I could use there.

Balmora is a close second, from how familiar it is, how many great merchants there are, and how starter friendly it is with free gold, weapons, and starter quests.

>Oblivion
Skingrad is the comfiest, but Anvil and Cheydinhal are close.

>Skyrim
Can't decide. Riften and Markarth are pretty, but the fact I can't purge the Black Briars and the Silver-Bloods is a deal breaker. Whiterun is the Balmora of Skyrim. Solitude is the best, even if it isn't as cozy as the previous ones.

Plus the one with the Night Mother (Chorrol?) Especially once I had high acrobatics. I miss platforming on rooftops like a discount spiderman and hope TES6 brings it back.

Morrowind is my main kick right now I love Balmora for being friendly to newbies and having fun rooftops, Vivec for sheer scale and the imposing Cantons, Molag Mar for being an immense Canton-Fortress in the middle of hostile wilderness, Sadrith for the fungus buildings. Ald Velothi for feeling like an isolated mini-fort with a bunch of shacks springing up around it.

Does Tel Fyr count? It has some of the best NPCs, fun loot, and fungus stuff.

At first I was thinking of using THE Tower but I realized the meaning of the card has to do with sudden, unexpected, life-changing developments and thought Red Mountain would be perfect for that. It's one of the more important Towers and it's a literal fucking volcano

>>52006487
That would be good, but I wanted to use Uriel because, for most of the games, he's been the one doing the initial behind-the-scenes set up for the engagement of the Hero in the story and is sort of this reliable, knowledgeable, and wise figure in the background. I also thought it would be cool to have him be the conventional mentor countered by the unconventional Vivec as the High Priestess, but as >>52017564 noted, V is perf as Temperance, so that lil idea is gone.

I was also thinking that Azura or Akatosh could be Justice? The Heart of Lorkhan could be Death. Also Kyne would be fantastic for the Empress but she isn't quite as central or active in History as say Lorkhan or her son are. Alessia could be either that or the High Priestess. Maybe Almalexia could be the star? It under her domain
>>
>>52020016
Huh, that's a point, it's certainly sudden and life changing to CHIM/zero-sum but that's not an unexpected thing, it's a eureka moment at the end of a long journey towards enlightenment.

Well theyre the stars, but I need someone for the central figure in the image. The Star represents generosity, spirituality, and the start of a healing transformation after the disastrous Tower. Ayem's mythic significance and being the Mother of ALMSIVI would be a cool fit.
But that makes me wonder how the Magne Ge must feel or be affected by the existence of Ayem's association with them and of Azura's whole Moon-and-Star thing

TES 6 possibilities:

Hammerfell - No idea for the plot besides dwemer ruins under sand dunes and beating the shit out of Thalmor puppets again.

Alinor - Beating the shit out of the Thalmor and exposing them as daedra worshiping cultists.

Elswyr - Beating the shit out of thalmor and drinking skooma.

Valenwood - Beating the shit out of the Thalmor who have started to cut down the trees of Valenwood.

Blackmarsh - It doesn't involve beating the shit out of the Thalmor? Or maybe it does?

Seriously if we don't get Akavir soon it all comes down to fighting against the Thalmor.

>require massive retconning
That's overstating it.

The Imperial Army wasn't able to follow the Argonian into Helstrom, but Enric Milres claims to have been there. The interior is hostile and impossible to traverse for something as significant as an army, and all the logistics a campaign requires, but one skilled individual could get there on foot.

Further out from the centre, the Empire has been able to both rule and build. There's been built an Imperial quarter with Cyrodiil-style villas in Lilmoth, prisons in Blackrose, and both Stormhold and Gideon are originally Ayleid settlements. There's plantations along the coast.

Black Marsh is always hostile and unwelcome, but not uninhabitable or impassable to the truly skilled. Men, Mer, and even non-Argonian Beastfolk have all been native to the region at some point.

The Monomyth says he was one of the first gods to crystallize after Aka while "Ark'ay, the God of Birth and Death" and Mannimarco's "Arkay the Enemy" say he was a mortal that ascended to godhood. Is it possible that there was an OG Arkay god that the shopkeeper mantled w the help of Mara?

So what do you think the "canon" The Last Dragonborn will be?

My guess is they'll be a Dunmer, which is why all the Daedra are thirsty for The Last Dragonborn's tight buttcheeks. Also they become the Emperor and usher in the 5th Era with the beginning of a new dynasty. Also they encourage Daedra worship because the Daedra helped them in their quest so much. And also it's just the Nerevarine. The Last Dragonborn is the Nerevarine and he's back to free Morrowind from the Sap-Lickers.

And then the Argonians got genocided and the Khajiit were re-enslaved en mass.

What the fetch did you just fetching say about me, you little s'wit? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Imperial Legion, and I’ve been involved in numerous secret raids on the Aldmeri Dominion, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I’m the top stealth archer in the entire Cyrodiil armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fetch out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Nirn, mark my fetching words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Memospore? Think again, fetcher. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the Empire and your Black Soul is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You’re fetching dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the Order of Imperial Dragon Knights and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little s'wit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fetching tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you Star-Cursed n'wah. I will s'wit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You’re fetching dead, kiddo.

"I want burglers to not be in my house" says a noble Dunmer who keeps to the old traditions preserved by the Ashlanders and given back his people after the disposal of the three false gods that kept Morrowind from its rightful rulers, the Three Good Daedra.

"Isn't that ironic? Because you're not in your house at this moment?" replies an Argonian.

My theory for Tes6 is that the reason it's delayed, the technical difficulties, lie in Bethesda developing fully functional virtual reality tech, a virtual reality Nirn and then once we're all plugged in we'll be trapped in the game, it was all a big reenactment of actual TES lore, we become the new elhnofey of this virtual Nirn and act out the new kalpa and all the kalpas that follow forever
>>
>>52034487
Tes6 is delayed because Bethesda is hiring and training new staff.

>As Mere-Glim followed Lilmoth’s long slump to the bay Imperials named Oliis, he felt the cloud-rippled sky gently pressing on him, on the trees, on the ancient ballast-stone paving. He wondered, which is to say that he gave his mind its way, let it slip away from speech into the obscure nimbus of pure thinking.

>Words hammered thought into shape, put it in cages, bound it in chains. Jel—the tongue of his ancestors—was the closest speech to real thought, but even Annaïg—who knew as much Jel as anyone not of the root—her throat couldn’t make all the right sounds, couldn’t shade the meanings enough for him to really converse with her.

>He was four people, really. Mere-Glim the Argonian, when he spoke the language of the Empire, which cut his thoughts into human shapes. When he spoke to his mother or siblings he was Wuthilul the Saxhleel. When he spoke with a Saxhleel from the deep forest, or even with a member of the An-Xileel, he was a Lukiul, “assimilated,” because his family had been living under Imperial ways for so long.

>When he spoke with Annaïg he was something else, not between the two, but something very different from either. Glim.

>But even their shared language was far from true thought.

You think that as part of his plan to defeat Dagoth Ur at the risk of losing his power he'd have set the rock down gently. And if it really did have its full momentum from falling from "Orbit" (I realize space is fucky in TES) he'd have bled that off somehow, or flipped it around so it hopped up and fell back down a more reasonable distance..

But subtracting was the superior option because run speed is affected by what % your inventory is full. Adding additional carry weight doesn't reduce that % as efficiently as reducing the total weight carried.

Is there a reason that most mages don't wear heavy armor? It doesnt seem to adversely affect casting in TES like it does in most other settings, and with enchantments it could be weightless.

>Is there a reason that most mages don't wear heavy armor? It doesnt seem to adversely affect casting in TES like it does in most other settings, and with enchantments it could be weightless.

Enchanting armor is hella expensive. Armor is heavy. STR is not a priority stat for mages. Alchemist kits weigh a ton. Better to spend your money on alchemical ingredients, more spells, or magika potions rather than a gear ladder. Unarmored is decent anyway.
