I couldn't tell you what YJ had in mind with certainty, but that is the usual for these sorts of things.

Original Greed doesn't really have any additional abilities. It's just way stronger at a base level, it's abilities just able to do what the normal Greed does but better. Nothing you can't do overtime really.

Well, if we're talking about R anyway. Can't say the crows are that impressive with Original Greed, since it seems no different.

Either way, if you had it eat another greed, it'd manifest it like any other Charyeok. So...you'd have to have your Greed manifest that Greed to manifest what the second Greed has eaten. Really just easier to work your own one to that level.

Ughhh… so this was another of those jumps where by the end of it I was ready to go. I hate battling against cosmic forces way out of my league and that’s what this jump came down to.

Somehow everything had gone to hell so we had to rally what remaining heroes there were along with my companions as we fought off the forces of Apokalypse. We had to capture and un-brainwash the justice league including batman who for some reason was the toughest of them.

Then we had to go to Apokalypse itself since New Genesis was no longer there to balance it and fight Darkseid on his own turf. Dear God that was a hellish battle. I don’t know how many people I saved with block from 8-bit theatre I stopped counting after a while. Anyways we defeated him somehow (by that time we had gotten the help of Oa and anyone else we could find, I even put a bounty on him to get lobo on our side). Knowing how difficult he is to get rid of I used a creature to trap him in a mental world of his own creation where he will eternally live out his dreams. He is also under heavy guard and should he escape, just about everyone in the universe will know.

Does anyone know if The World Ends With You Jump takes place during the events of the game, if you DON'T take the Proxy drawback that causes you to replace the Protagonist? I kind of want to take it as my first Jump, but, uh, I'm not sure that survival would actually be possible if that is case, as things are kind of rigged in favor of the Protagonist succeeding, but every other player dying before he does so.

Ah, answered that, sorta, a little while ago. Not sure, souls don't really come up in series. I assume that Greed eats everything it can gobble down so unless the soul actively escapes once the host dies or just disappears outright, it should eat the soul too. Still, just my view on it as I don't believe the series has looked at it, so if you want to say that it won't eat souls, you go for that. Just, you know, stick to it and all.

Not at all. You'd only be accessing the Greed you have on you. Someone who's a descendant of Heracles and has Heracles' Charyeok doesn't become a avatar of Zeus when he uses Powerlenderization. It's not fully powered either, just a lot, lot more powered. Many, many times. The best example in series, of Heracles' contractor using that mode, still isn't 'hold up the sky' Heracles but it's still a gigantic boost from the normal level.

Hey, continued from last thread. I was looking to make a Native Jumper based on a Sniper Joe from Mega Man Classic. Any tips or suggestions on build and early jumps?

Mori Hui was at his weakest (For a given value I mean, Hui is still one beastly monkey) then. Remember that his strength is based on the distance between him and the original, so the stuff he did against the King and when he pushed back Jupiter were both after portals were briefly opened to where Jin was. His level of power then is far, far above what he had during the World stage GoH tournament.

That's why Jin and Heracles were just punching each other through the stadium and to the other side of the street, instead of to the moon and back. Stopping Yeoui from expanding was hella cool and impressive as fuck for anything below the God levels, but compared to the High Gods on up it's not that big a problem.

About War Trophies: So, the example in the text is surviving the poison of a mythical snake, and then gaining a high resistance to bites from the same snake and lesser resistances to other poisons. Now, this makes sense, because poisons are rarely the same, each of them using their own ways to accomplish their own tasks. But does it work the same way with other attacks that aren't generally as unique? Because while poisons and curses are highly variable, fire is just, well... fire. Would it provide greater resistance against a specific source of fire, then? Or would it count all fire as the same?

Basically what I'm saying, is that the example given makes a lot of sense why it would provide lesser resistances simply due to the nature of the attack, and I'm not sure whether or not that's intentional on your part?

If it's not a specific, unique attack (Hydra's poison vs any sort of normal fire) then you'll only get the lesser benefit, rather then the specialised resistance. If it was say, Amaterasu from Naruto, then you'd get the greater resistance to Amaterasu and the lesser resistance to normal fire.

Doubtful, but there are probably ways to do it indirectly with meta-magic. But there's only one thing I can think of off the top of my head: Anima's Creation path has a spell called "Maintain Magic", which is exactly what it sounds like. If you used Infinity on that, it'd have much the same effect. Though it is a high-level spell, and it does have an expensive activation cost.

The original plan, as I remember, was some sort of combination of clones, Greed and the rough power stones that was intended to make the King a perfect younger body to move into.

Didn't work at all so he split each part into a separate project. The Greeds were still created from his children, they just weren't clones. He'd seduce or capture women, impregnate them and then experiment on the mother and child in aim of making the Greed thing work. So R DOES technically have the body of the King, just as his son rather then as a direct genetic clone.

Hana calls herself an opportunist and she's dragging us through this, but I think we're just bandits that only target other bandits. There are people trying to rebuild the world after nature shat the bed, but we're not working with them, either. We're working with people trying to build a new one in the ashes. Those are the ones that are going to survive, Hana thinks, and we're going to need friends who actually survive. So, we pick a decent upstart leader and go hard for them. Hana never let's us work for free, though.

The rain hurts here, and I'm not sure if it's because of whatever ended the world or that most of the buildings here have already burnt down. But they can still grow food in that mess, somehow, so they have our respect. Hana herself is still a brute, but she's at her best when she's bruting stuff up for someone else that she really believes in.

Oh, the last time mere amount of questions did that was a long time ago. Oh, was it 2 years? I think about 2 years. 3 days straight of Fate questions when I was a lot less experienced and skilled at controlling myself.

16-18 hours of one question every few minutes, sleep, wake up to answer the backlog, another day of questions, sleep, backlog, another day. By the end I was really quite nasty to be around. During Uni times too, so staying up till 2-3 in the morning to answer questions was even worse for my temper.

So no need to worry. I doubt it'll ever be that bad.

No, you can't buy it and it's possible to get around Does Not Feel in jump once or twice and permanently out of jump so that's not a way to fix the issue. If you're not buying the skill at all then you're effectively getting free CP as there's no drawback to someone not wanting to use something they can't use already. If you want, you can take one of those "Knows many skills" Skills that aren't banned (Since WotHG is only banned because it gives Servant Skills) and rename it if you want. Not the best but it gets the general theme of what it was meant to do for her across.

Not solving the problem, since it ultimately just means you're taking time to end up there. Doesn't work well either, since the scenarios are based around Grand/Beast stuff.

The problem, to give some more detail, that I'm having is whether to do it as a scenario or as an endjump option.

Doing it as a scenario brings many problems and lots of stress. There's little reason to not do this as your one Servant thing if you can maybe buy a filled GoB or EX ranks on the level of Solomon's stuff (And let's not even get into the nightmare of people wanting Solomon level EX ranks that aren't just biggatons but instead hax stuff). It'd have to be some very awkward, very stressful partial unbanning of some stuff and lots and lots of questions and rulings. It might not leave some happy but there's still just massive balance and confusion issues with it this way, as there's some stuff I can't offer even if it was based around Grand/Beast stuff just for how badly it'd overshadow basically everything ever. Imagine what a nightmare something like Nero's "I have any skill I want" Skill would be buffed to Grand level?

On the other hand, an Endjump would not only let me just go "You know what? No limits. No rules. Long as it doesn't make you 100% invincible or auto win the endjump option, you go for it." and have a lot more fun with the fluff, options offered and generally make it fitting. I've got a good bunch of ideas of how to put into GO an endjump option worthier of being called such, even on DBZ or Tenchi Muyo levels. Except despite this solving basically all the issues I have...some people don't want endjump options like that and I'm fairly sure what some are expected was the ability to get some of those banned skills and keep them.

Thus, it's a pain in the ass to think about.

Pretty sure Sasaki is getting at least one perk to him. Depends on how I'm dividing the origins up, which is a pain too but much more of an enjoyable pain.

There's one other actual psychic in the group, and he fits in extremely well around here. Somni is a weirdo, and he's surrounded by weirdos, and they all seem to get along with him oddly well. The kids call him Grandpa. He invites the kids to stories in his head, and he takes on jobs helping out Mr. Cruller whenever he can. I think he really likes it here.

Somni isn't the most powerful psychic, but he is the most experienced here. He's traversed minds across the multiverse, come into contact with the Hist, fixed catatonic depressives, and looked into the thoughts of gods and spirits. He has tales the rest of the counselors didn't believe. So, when something started coming after the kids, he was pretty peeved. Enough that he knew I had meta-knowledge, so despite my psychic defenses out the wazoo he got the information anyway. He breached 44 layers of defense, where he could barely project his mind, and somehow found out who it was. I'm a little scared, actually.

He worked closely with Raz after that. Protagonism isn't a resource to be wasted, I suppose.

If I buy a rocket pod is it restricted to a single type of payload, or can it be reconfigured on the fly?

The jump mentions that rockets can be modified to have standard, thermite, or plasma payloads, but I can't tell if it means we have to choose only one type that each pod can fire.

OOC? It was a marketing scheme made by 2ch that went viral with only two videos, among a collection of loosely connected other videos but only two of them have solid canon connections. Everything is a virtual world and everything is bad.

IC? There was this huge thing that happened long ago that made the entire planetary population of earth flee into a virtual world. This virtual world was awesome and then it wasn't. It's been so long that the humans have started to lose themselves in the Virtual World, having little to no memory of the real world at this point, and with the loss of self-image, literally forgetting their original human shape, they slide into being just another of the many. Some humans still remember and they are, to the Central AI that governs the world, massive problems as their self-image actually manipulates the data 'somehow' with little to no care about the proper channels. In response to these problems the Troubleshooters were created, programs or maybe turned humans who were able to put down the self-determining programs that are fucking up the local code.

The story of Nightmare City itself is about one of the last humans falling in love with a rogue Troubleshooter, she posed as a normal person to get close to him but developed feelings for him, and the troubles of such an existence happening. The other videos are the trials and tribulations of other MC's throughout the system.

It is ambiguous if the humans even have a world to return to, much less bodies.

Can I ask the thread a question?

I am trying to become an actual jumpmaker, with some difficulty, and I choose a setting of a fairly obscure book a friend recommended to me (to read, not make a jump of).

I figured that it would be a good setting to cut my teeth on, as it was unlikely that anyone would already have a claim or care too much if I made a hash of it.

But I've started to have concerns about the viability of the jump. I oneday, in maybe a month or so, I'm guessing, would like to present it to the thread as an offering... I mean, for critique. As such I don't want to sink all the effort and time into a jump that'll get screamed at, before any useful critque can happen.

I happen to like the book and the story, but I'm not sure if he skirts too close to the edges of lewd. There nothing more than heavy patting in the book itself, but the story is focused on gender politics in an alternate reality (presumably) where civilisation has had to emerge and cope with a severe disparity in gender ratios. It's easy to give a summary and misrepresent it as a harem type story, but it really isn't. But... well, I am asking because I really want to make sure that I am not making a mistake taking this further, before I've sunk any more effort into it.

The jump is for A Brother's Price, by Wen Spencer. It has a tvtropes page for reference, for those unfamiliar with the book.

If there is a consensus that it goes too far, then I'll drop it and try to cut my teeth on soemthing else.

Not even close, we have actual harem jumps anon. An alt history setting with some mild female domination themes is far from lewd enough for the lewd ban to be relevant.

The only things that are blocked by the lewd rule are legitimate porn settings and settings where the most interesting things are inseparably tied to lewd.

Perhaps two male backgrounds, a typical husband and a rogue, on the run and loving it? I'll need to give that some thought, as I would be stepping out from the novel's material doing that.

I think to start I'll be strict and keep well within the confines of the novel and then slacken restrictions based on feedback from the thread.

I think that would be the safest bet to start off. Does that seem reasonable to you guys?

Suggestions:

Offer a gender swap to female for free, potentially offering a small amount of extra CP for staying or becoming male (due to the significant in setting disadvantages that it presents).

Make origins based your family's status (Drop-In, Merchant Family, Proper Blue Blood Family, or Family that became nobles though "various means" like the protagonist's).

Also include drawback that makes your family poor plebs that cannot be taken as a Drop In, since being a pleb is especially shitty in that setting.

Possibly include two extra perk trees discounted based on gender instead of origin, since that is a big deal in the setting.

So this is one of those jumps where it's surprisingly large and has a wealth of options for a fairly obscure game that is not easily played, and so I said, "I'll get to that later," and then later never comes, until about two threads back some anon said, "You know there's a perk in there that teaches you how to make monster girls," and I was like, "Welp."

Separate note: Making jumps for obscure settings is good and well, but as you'll discover it's harder to get help since fewer other people can offer insightful advice beyond balance issues - which is usually fine, but sometimes you might need to bounce ideas off someone who knows the setting.

I had a somewhat similar issue when writing Otoyomegatari, since women in that jump are quite restricted (not being able to own land, expectations of marriage, etc.). I somehow managed to make Bride appealing (because the women make things, which appeals to craft-based jumpers, and serve as inspiration for the appearance-based perks in the jump, which appeals to vain jumpers (ie: most jumpers)).

Definitely allow jumpers to choose their gender for free; that way if you're up front about the cultural thing, they get to choose whether to take the social issues on board or not.
Keep in mind that jumpers have many ways to get around social issues, so it might not be as big a deal as you think.

Pretty strong. The same basic rules should apply. The core demon grants a number of its charms or powers equal to its Essence to the Hellstrider, while each subsidiary demon adds a single charm or power. So you're playing with very powerful 3CD powers already, plus four Second Circle demon charms which should be pretty good, too. Calculating stats might be difficult, though, since 3CDs don't have normal abilities and attributes but just a static dice pool that they can apply some or all of to a task depending on if it's within their theme. It would be pretty high, I imagine, but you'd have to approximate the specifics. Like, if the demon's particularly durable, it should obviously grant a high Stamina to the Hellstrider.

You'd still be sacrificing part of your nature to turn them into a Hellstrider (or other Artifact) though. Just because you're not as dependent on it as a Yozi doesn't mean it's not a pretty big thing to do.

For clarity, where a normal artifact needs [Artifact Level] exotic components (stuff like the last surviving leaf of a tree that was smote for growing so tall it touched the sky, or water from the Pole of Water that's been distilled by taking it back and forth from the Poles of Air and Fire to freeze and melt it repeatedly, or other such mystical substances) to make, Level N/A Artifacts take entire Level Five artifacts as components, of a number determined by the GM instead of strict rules. + Fallout: Why does the air taste like metal? - The Jump. Also the first time I shot somebody to death. Over food. Not having most of my powers sucks.

+ Ranma 1/2: Was Ranma's brother with the same curse as him. Ended up as a harem anime protagonist. Raven had a ton of fun here.

+ Gravity Falls: How I fucked up because I'm not powerful enough - The Jump.

+ Imawabi No Dakini: Good god, everything here bleeds SO MUCH! Hunted down monsters for the most part while wandering the world. Wasn't always successful, but Raven and I put down a lot of them.

+ Shaman King: World Tour in search of my other power sets given form and life. Was a lot more fun than it sounds. Also, Santa is my spirit. Score!

+ Kill La Kill: Why Raven refuses to wear fishnets anymore - The Jump. I spend ten years as clothes, Raven refused to get involved with the plot until way too late to make a difference. I'm a little annoyed at her for this.

Captain N: Was the Gamemaster and didn't take Time of Heroes. It was easymodo, but I developed a pretty strong hatred of my 'coworkers' in pretty short order.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Went on a rampage in the Abandoned Warehouse District using Dragon Zord. Got stopped by the Rangers, feigned amnesia/evil brainwashing. Spent the rest of the jump tagging along with whatever Bulk and Skull were up to.

Kirby: Ran in the opposite direction of Kirby. Forever. I didn't even take a drawback for it, I was just fucking terrified.

Death Note: Traumatized Light by having the Dragon Zord grab him out of his house and screaming at him for an hour. After the JSDF was mobilized, I eventually ended up camping on the moon.

FLCL: I don't remember most of it, but I did use a guitar I stole from a random bystander as my primary weapon for most of the chain onwards.

Jojo: Became Joseph's long-lost twin brother. We developed a begrudging family respect for each other, and fought the Pillar Men as a trio with Caesar until the latter's death. I almost wanted to stay.

Jackie Chan Adventures: Related to the protagonist, again. Was kind of a cooldown compared to before. Being an older brother to Jade is not as fun as it sounds.

Final Fantasy XIV: Took Scenarios 1, 2, and 2.1. This was my Jumper's first taste of responsibility without an MC to fall back on for everything, and where they started toughening up. Oh, and the beginning of my chaotic companion roster.

It's been a ride.

Having a fireball whacked back at you after throwing it is both irritating and nonsensical - how does one hit a fireball with a sword anyways? Now, your own magic will do only about half as much damage to you as it normally would. It won’t stop them from hitting it, but it will make the rebound hurt less.

I have a nagging feeling that this isn't a 100 cp perk.

Maybe, but there's actually a better way to go about doing this with Medaka Box perks. Get Lip Service, use it to give Next Generation to the person whose blood you're going to consume. It will cost 500CP less, you won't have to become a Minus, and kissing someone before drinking their blood is pretty good imagery for a classy vampire.

Having your companions do it wouldn't necessarily work because the version of Atonement where you cast it on someone else requires that they be willing. If they don't want to stop being evil, they won't be. The self-targeted version doesn't have that restriction, because the fact that you cast it is implicit agreement. Contingency just delays the effects of you agreeing, lets you get around that issue.

So, the basic idea of NGNL is that the world was in constant war until all the gods were killed, leaving only Tet, who mandated that all violent actions would forever cease and everyone would play games to solve disputes instead. In games you can wager anything you possess, even metaphorical things like your loyalty or your heart, which if you lose you give up via magic fiat.
The races of Disboard (the name of the world) being a bunch of warmongering retards, immediately fell into using games as a substitute for way and trying to kill each other.
I really cannot express just how dumb and violent the races are.

Anyway, Blank (or "[ ]") arrive, and decide they're going to unite all the races together and play a game against Tet, which is what he really wants. They are plot bullshit levels of good at games, and are basically not beatable by anything but equally bullshit hax powers.

Taking the drawback puts you at odds with this. And if they succeed in uniting the world and defeating Tet, you lose.
But, because their victory requires the unification of every race, all you technically need is one "race piece" (a chess piece which grants you dominion over its representative race), and then refuse to ever play a game with Blank, because refusal to play is always a thing you can do.

I don't think atonement is what you need here. With the demon, is says you don't have to actually perform Evil, but there will always be an impulse there. I don't think atonement will anything for that impulse for evil, since atonement is more about actions. A demon who went through atonement would still be a demon, with all that with demonic urges tempting him in the future.

There is a spell in Book of Hallowed Deeds? Sanctify creature, that is made for removing wickedness from inherently evil beings.

With a Fallen Angel, since they have to be Neutral or Evil, and Angels are a thing, going through atonement would probably make you an Non Fallen Angel, but you could have chosen to be that in the first place.

But this stuff is more about reversing polarity then granting human type free choice, as part of the conceit about how aligned planar creatuers work in the system.

You want something that grants a human soul like the one in Kingdom Hearts to be applied to you in the Alt Form. There was one that even faster that that, but I cannot remember where it was.

Or a mind/self protecting perk, or a mix-&-match perk like This is in fact my final form.

No, I mean, if you just happened to be a really powerful wizard or something, strong enough to do it on your own. The Rules don't forbid altering Rule 9, so even if you're still bound by Tet's Rules you could remove it if you had the power. Yeah, but I don't think your alignment changing actually matters since alignment is about your past actions. If your race gives you impulses towards good or evil, atonement does nothing about them. If your race has some geas like effect where you are compelled to do good or evil actions, atonement won't help with those either.

Atonement is more about how you read to sensory spell designed to detect good or evil, but even that aspect would be over powered by them being made out of good or evil, giving a fixed result regardless of personal actions (or not I honestly cannot remember which alignment has priority for detect evil in a personal alignment vs race with a metaphysical fixed alignment)

(5) No Game No Life: Acquired my first magic system. Beat Jibril and companion'd her (or more like she companied me). Acquired great keikaku skills and mental processing power.
(6) Minecraft: Can now make pockets dimensions and digital storage systems. Strip-mined a couple worlds worht of resources. Gratuitous expansion of my tech-base. Fuckin' up the Wither and End Dragon.
(7) Kid Radd: Didn't know much about the setting so I mostly became a mercenary-lke super-hacker.
(8) Terraria: My first 1UP. Collected everything I could from here. Build impractically large arenas for boss battles and glorious combat.
(9) Transmetropolitan: Fought against the copious amounts of bullshit going on here. Tried to not lose my quota of SAN poins and mostly succeding. Screwed around with Spider occasionally (NO, NOT THAT WAY).
(10) CATastrophe: Mostly a vacation jump. Explored around. Had wild parties and lotsa fun.
