Continued. Double kukri TWF warpriest, with a possible Vigilante gestalt. What's some good advice I can take, particularly as it relates to TWF? Merits of Strength vs Dex? Good Archetypes?

Pretty limited 3pp. Definitely no spheres or PoW. Jolly's vigilante stuff I could probably slide, anything I should look at there?

Super mega autist who autisted so hard she figured out how to fight with weaponized autism.

>What's your character's origin story?

He's a former woodsman from a small village that knocked up a local forest spirit and got shackled with caring for his little Chaneling squirt for the next 16 years!

The call for adventure came when a dragon burned down his village and seemingly kidnapped his daughter.
>>
>>51731366
>Lamashtu

Protean Prowler, maybe. It lets you take abilities from an Unchained Eidolon. I think most people use it for natural attacks, but there's plenty of useful stuff in there that isn't claws and teeth, including some easy energy immunity, fat untyped skill bonuses, and very early Pounce (7th level). You'll be mutating abomination too, which fits the theme. The downside is giving up a lot of vigilante talents and your specialization.
>>
I'm having difficulty finding a pic I used to have on my computer.

It's of an androgynous looking young knight/cleric/paladin wearing medieval styled armor. They have the typical young angelic face with some tears running down it, and the old medieval style halo line around their head. The sun is breaking through the clouds above them and there's the faint impression of wings behind them. Beneath them, there are a series of grizzled soldiers, and the main figure appears to be walking along shields.

Any help would be splendid. It's a rather large picture.

He is the bastard child of a calistrian and a merchant noble. The calistrian dropped him off to the merchant, who made the child be almost a slave, as in not getting any benefits of being his blood. Eventually when he, the character, grew older he went up and yelled his father down and went off to become a respected member of the family. He married, got two children and decided to leave for a while to get away from the tedious mercantile life.

Anyone know any items or feats to increase reach for AoO and/or increase threatened area size?
Trying to build the ultimate nope-zone Warder. Already got the maneuvers figured out. Reach is 15, sometimes 20 right now, while the nope-zone is 25, sometimes 30 feet.

Currently playing in an ultra-lewd drow-focused game set in the Forgotten Realms and using 3.5 and Pathfinder material.

My character is a tiefling and the youngest daughter of her House. She's a Theurge with some modifications to account for certain campaign concepts. She grew up as something of a golden child, facing all kinds of praise but also abuse and torment thanks to her natural gifts.

>What's your character's origin story?

(Half-Elf Magus)

He's a Half-Elf nobleman of Half-Elf ancestry (third generation on his noble-born mother's side, second on his common-born father's side) from a distinguished Elvish noble house.

He's way down the line of succession, so he has very little chance or hope to inherit the Kingdom. When his mother passes or abdicates, he'll take over her titles and pass them on to his children, or his siblings.

In the meantime, he's happy to learn more magic from his former-King and Great-Grandfather (Full Elf), and wander about doing good deeds in the name of his Kingdom, his family, and for the sake of doing good.

No crazy origin story here, just another young, noble scion acting on his wanderlust.

Yo all, updates on SoM; we're hoping to get a full-ish playtest up sooner rather than later, probably in the next 2-4 weeks depending on if we can get everything together. Most of the spheres are around 75-100% finished, the classes are a bit more rough though, and I've been working to make sure there should be a poison sphere at some point which uses its own poison rather than working with currently existing poisons (because they're terrible).

I've been trying to keep up with the docs and previews, and I'm glad to see the rest of the team has been hitting them up too. Happy Valentines day, y'all!

It's unfortunate that my fellow GM does not seem to be warming to the idea of SoM so far, but then he hated Spheres of Power when that first came out and now that's the only magic system we use, so maybe he'll come around.

I'm still pretty darn interested in finally getting a peek at the Dueling and Fencing spheres.

There's a few things to keep in mind about Ustalav.

1. Everyone you meet is probably dominated by a vampire and cannot be trusted. This includes friendly innkeepers, unfriendly sheriffs, other vampires, your party members and you.

2. If you think, "It'll be fine, I just have to hold out til morning", you're gonna have a bad time. Due to cloud cover and fog, conveniently placed mountain ranges, and evil magic, it's never morning in Ustalav.

3. Ustalav runs off of horror movie tropes. If you're a lady, project an aura of quiet strength and make sure you're able to adapt to any situation. If you're a male, chances are you're dead already, but try to attach yourself to the obvious heroine and hope you make it out alive. For either gender, whatever you do, DON'T SLEEP WITH ANYONE. You sound like you might be plucky comic relief, which is good because those characters live longer so there's a stark contrast from all the terror.

4. If a party member suggests splitting up, don't listen to them. They've been dominated by a vampire and can no longer be trusted.

5. Remember that a wooden stake to the heart kills most things, not just vampires, so it's a useful tool.

6. Don't look into mirrors, that's a vampire's favorite time to be behind people.

7. If someone can conclusively prove they aren't a vampire, they're a werewolf and can no longer be trusted.

8. Like stakes to the heart, fire will kill most things. There is no such thing as too much fire. Can't make an omelet without putting a few vampire-infested villages to the torch. If anyone objects to burning down an entire village to kill one suspected vampire, they've been dominated and can no longer be trusted.

4 - Slayer Talent (Rogue Talent [Combat Trick]), Chain-Flail Master
5 - Darting Viper

>>51732927
Yeah, that's probably too low, given the lack of player base. Let me fix it up a bit. What do you recommend?

Shield bashes are firmly Iron Tortoise's domain, ripostes are Mithral Current/Scarlet Throne, shoulder slam is kinda Primal Fury, which is charge stuff.

20 and 3, maybe open up the races a little bit but that's probably the least troubling - though expect everyone to go like, human.
>>
>>51732830
Depends on the game. I need more info.

>>51732947
Here is what I recommend:
>25 PB, high enough that it still forces some low numbers, but enough that MAD classes can get by
>Starting at level 3 is what I prefer, it makes for more interesting characters overall
>Pick 5-8 races and build your setting for them, stick to your guns with race restrictions. Kitchen sink race settings are cancer.

>>51731302
Pretty standard. Found on the side of the road by a band of mercs. Adopted in because why not, Aasimar are rare and seen as a sign of good fortune. Trained and lived with them for many years. Were contracted with a country during the Containment War. One arm and one leg were amputated due to infection. Got artificial limbs. Pretty common occurrence for those that took part in the war. Later, some members sold out the group for money. Lots died in the ensuing ambush. The group disintegrated. She hunted down the traitors with help from other ex-members. Now she's with the group after being a sellsword for a time.

Can someone look at this for me. I feel like I'm missing something. Down in the Black Iron Knight archetype there are Knave's Tricks. It says you get one at level 1, level 4, then every 3 levels there after. However there are only three of them. Does this mean you can't take any more after level 7? In real life? They slammed clean through most non-heavy (and even then sometimes) armor and were basically fatal on impact unlike arrows. Heavier javelins, such as the Roman pilum, famously could basically make your shield completely useless if it hit right.
Also, since infantry can hold it, they can easily throw it on the charge and follow up with a stab or stroke in the same action. Most javelins also work as shittier spears in a pinch, and since you carry 2-3 as an infantryman you won't run out for the most part. Furthermore, although being GOOD at throwing a javelin and achieving actual decent range takes a lot of practice, at close range anyone can toss it because javelins are weighted to the front.
If the game doesn't reflect this just change it. There's plenty of bullshit in most systems so you just have to fix it (I'm not defending the system on this basis).

I'm about to start a 1-20 mythic campaign and I want to do three things, be a paladin, specialize in sundering and specialize on combat intimidate. My question isn't what exactly I should do for that I'm more wondering if it's even a good choice as a Paladin when it's super feat intensive! Help!
>>
>>51733389
Traditionally, javelins were short ranged throwing spears. Not only do they make an okay weapon, but more importantly, you wrap them with an amentum and hurl one or two of them as enemies get close (about 20m) to fucking murder one or two of them before they get to you, who's probably now using his real spear behind his shield.

A good throw will mean a projectile with a large amount of force coming at you, and if it happened to be a weighted diamond-wedge tip like the roman pilum, if it didn't kill you it still tended to get stuck and drag you down; an even worse way to die than instant impalement if it should cause you to trip or otherwise fuck up.

Something I do when building intrigue that I think a lot of people miss or can't handle is initial placement. In my mind initial placement and adhering to said placement is what matters the most in creating an interesting narrative during intrigue that will keep the player's attention.

What I do is the following:
>make a list of NPCs that have a vested interest
>list NPCs resources
>list their personal goal
>list any sensitive information they have on another NPC
>list their general allegiances
>list a quick personality rundown
>list their mental stats
>list any personality traits/flaws that could be applicable

I do this before the scenario begins for every relevant NPC then review before and after each session if what the NPCs are doing this session adhere to these guidelines.

As well something I believe is very important is to have set pieces move when the players aren't looking. However much time passes for players in world the same amount of time passes for all NPCs.

I'll list an example NPC's rundown:
>Yurgot Brune
>Viscount of poor territory in the north east, controls traffic through mountain pass to Vorgoth, owns the majority of his nations breweries fairly large personal fortune
>Death of Baron Corgren's daughter's fiancee and establishing himself as a replacement
>Knows Baron Corgren has a bastard son he is hiding
>Strong allegiance to the crown, but disdain for most of the other noble families besides the royal, particularly of the Baron Corgren himself
>Conniving but a coward, if at all possible he will avoid direct confrontation and instead prefer subterfuge, will leave at the first sign of the tables turning
>Int: 16, Wis: 12, Cha: 8
>Coward, Cautious, Amoral, Detached

This man has an obvious pathway he will chart through a campaign. Indeed it may effect the PCs is he succeeds or not and change the course of the campaign even if he motives and goals aren't directly tied to that of the PC's.

So how would I get that 9+ needed for permanency? Only way I can see it is if I turn the dragon into a smaller type like one from the Improved Familiar list. That would still be fun to turn a big dragon into an angry as hell calligraphy wyrm or pipefox, but it feels like that will be the extent of it.

So folks I crunched the numbers and found out that Trappings of the Warrior /is kind of silly/ for a Meleecultist. And by Silly I mean you /need to take it/ if you're a meleecultist

Level 4
Array is 16 Strength, 16+2 Int, 14 Con, 10 everythin else

With a Half-elf, using the Elf FCB, and the Panoply Savant Archetype, we have 11 (4 from being a level 4 occultist, 4 from intelligence modifier, 2 from FCB, 1 from Panoply Savant) mental focus.

Our Transmutation Implement is a Greatsword, and our Abjuration Implement is a Buckler, allowing us to 2h the Greatsword without a penalty (we don't care about the AC from the buckler, it's just our implement).

The Transmutation implement grants us +2 Str per 3 mental focus. The Abjuration Implement grants us +1 Resistance per 2 points invested. We invest 3 into Trans. and 4 into Abjuration for a total of 7 for our TotW panoply. This grants us a BaB equal to our level.

Let's say we have Power Attack up as well. Because we have +4 BaB, and we're gonna be using a +1 Greatsword (it's within our WBL), our Power Attack is -2/+6 damage.

Our Strength is 16+2 from the Trans. implement. Two-handing our +1 greatsword (NOT an Okaysword, it's a GREATsword) grants us a +5/2d6+7 attack. Adding Power Attack makes that +3/2d6+13. Because we're an Occultist, we have Lead Blades and Enlarge Person. That grants us +2 Strength and two effective size categories, meaning we're doing +3/3d6+14. Because we have the Transmutation Focus Power and can use Legacy Weapon, we can add Bane, which is +2 Enhancement Bonus and +2d6 damage. That brings us up to +5/3d8+2d6+16. On a single attack. If it hits, it's 36.5 damage.

This is in addition to all the rest of your focus powers, and 6-level casting, and 6+Int skillpoints per level.

Also, question: Is Vigilante/Bushi Stalker (Path of War) decent? Should I drop Bushi and just go with Vigilante?

Actually, there's two other parts to that that the "BUT MUH AGAINCOURT" crowd like to "conveniently omit" (in other words they like to lie):

>1) Every video showing ultra-fast archery is at very low draw weights, sometimes not completely drawn, against soft targets at short range.
In other words, it's a self (short) bow being used at maybe half of its actual draw, with the power and penetration requirements kept minimal.

>2) Bows, in particular large longbows, have a rest phase in which the weapon itself completes its motion and returns to its original state
The thing is basically twanging off a whole lot of recoil and needs a moment to recover

The rest phase for longbows is not all that long, anon.
>>
>>51734261
It's not all that long UNTIL you start looking at the RoF of a 300lb draw "composite longbow".

Keep in mind the archer build's firing rate per round ends up somewhere around .8s per shot. That's less than a second to nock, draw, aim, loose, and recovery.

Unchained Rogues are actually well into decent. If you are willing to try 3pp their initiating archetype is one of the best of the bunch, but even without that they can handle themselves well enough.

I really, really want to join a gestalt game with a Panoply Savant (Trappings of the Warrior) Occultist// Stalker (Vigilante, Bushi) on the other side. His Abjuration Implement can be a gauntlet shaped like a buckler and his transmutation implement can be a katana his great grandfather forged when in Tian Xia!

In fact, pic-related might be a good start for a Str/Int Stalker//Occultist gestalt!

I might take pieces of this. Making them complete assholes fits in with the rest of the setting. Also toying with giving them a focus on being ADHD as a species, reasoning that they live so long they tend to change trades multiple times so they take up several different practices in their lives. It excuses them for not being Master wizards in a single human generation.
>>
An oafish fat town guard (shield ranger because who wants to be effective at anything) from a tiny village in the middle of nowhere in Ustalav. His great-great-great grandfather slept with an elf at some point, apparently - something he discovers when a ghoul's scratch doesn't paralyze him. It's too bad about his wife, though...

Elves are literally humans settled in an enchanted forest many (human) generations ago. The forest might have a connection to fey or some kind of other primeval forces.

While they are within the forest, they're immortal. If they leave it for extended periods of time, they start aging and can die of old age like any human - perhaps at an accelerated age.

The enchanted place by all means doesn't have to be unique or singular.

Being tied down to one place (aside from a certain amount of elves every generation who leave and die from old age or misfortune) and relying on it for survival makes the elders/leaders isolationist and arrogant.

I've done some back-of-the-envelope calculations for level 8 Embodiment of Aether Self Pact Avowed damage, since it feels to me like it's the class' strongest damage option by a mile.

24 strength, Amulet of Mighty Fists +1, 4 shapes into Aether Channel.
Feats: Embodiment of Aether/Dragon Style/Dragon Ferocity/Empower SLA (Hellfire ACF)/Overcharge Modulation.
Power attack is a net loss in damage.
Assuming that even though the pact attunement works 'as two weapon fighting', you're not halving the aether channel damage because it's the same unarmed attack, but this is debatable.

Total numbers at the bottom.
The average CR8 creature has 21AC and 100hp.
Without dragon ferocity or overcharge modulation, on average you deal slightly under that. With Dragon Ferocity you can just about take it out, and with Overcharge Modulation you knock it well out of the park with average 130 damage.
And that's combined with the fact you can pounce and ignore difficult terrain with a clause.

Does pfg think this is overboard? Or is it okay for a build that invested every single feat into doing as much damage as possible?

So the end of our last session was kind of weird. Our party (6 characters, level 6) all failed our Will saves to the song of an advanced harpy. The GM said she was only CR 5. Not even my character (aasimar elf paladin) made her save.

The harpy used her move actions to strip us of ALL our stuff, all of it, not a single thing left. Then she stuffed it all in our Handy Haversacks and flew away while still singing.

Now it's night and we're in the dead center of the fey-infested Backar Forest in Molthune. We were supposed to rescue some elven princess/noblewoman who got kidnapped by a tribe of evil advanced pixies and we still don't know where she is.

How screwed are we and what can we do to unscrew ourselves? We're a paladin (me), warpriest, mutation warrior fighter, esquire cavalier, battle host occultist, faceless enforcer vigilante. Yeah, we were kind of doing a "knights in full plate armor" game.
>>

I'd ask what your DM expects you to do.

Since that's a big thing to do 'just because'
>>
>>51735055

>>
>>51734951
You have what, 4 feats plus Empower SLA from the balefire type? Basically, everything except the free human feat if you were human is going into this.

Your gear is also going into this.

And if you're going for the high attack bonus, that's at least three purchases, but you probably want pounce so that's four shapes (of your 5+1).

Basically, it's like 75% of your entire character that's built on "do more damage". It's not low optimization in the least, and it's using one of the 'weapon' combo types (rampage would be lower by quite a bit I'm betting).

You've never played Hearthstone. The game is shit and cards like that are way better than they deserve to be. For some awful reason the designers decided that players should be included among the targets.
>>
>>51735197
C'thun is real. His gimmick is that the other cards which are his worshippers give him buffs as you play them.

So the idea is, by the time you actually play C'thun, he's been buffed up to like, 15 or more health and attack.

In some cases (Like if they can't get rid of the one that buffs C'thun by 1/1 per turn), he can get completely and utterly out of control, to the point of being a total board clear AND instant KO.
>>
>>51735197
It was released with a bunch of cards with things like
"Battle Cry: C'Thun gains +2/+2....wherever he is"
You have to play a bunch of those to buff his attack power to make his summon as strong as possible.
>>
>>51735124
Well, it's using all your feats, but zero of your clauses.
You're spending one on a modulation to overcharge, and maybe one on Personal Gravity to charge better, but also gives out of combat mobility.

You also get your +7 STR to saves and AC.

+4 str belt is 16000, +1 amulet of mighty fists is 4000. This is only about 65% of your gear, and you don't need to buy armor and your weapon is covered.

And you still have... 3 least clauses and 3 lesser.
You can easily be super puncher and have a lot of other unique niches.
>>
>>51735240
Misquote?
>>
>>51735240
I think it's fine. You're sacrificing a lot of cards to C'thun, he might just end up on the bottom of your deck, and the more cards that buff c'thun, the less cards you have that are doing things to help you RIGHT NOW.

Put level 20 WBL on a level 20 commoner and he can pull some crazy shit too.

That's just false though. Strip all the WBL and he, with a stick he found on the ground, could kill a great wyrm.

Probably.

pretty sure taking, like, a halberd through the uterus or your nuts cut off is only fixable with a Regeneration spell, which is definitely not a widely available thing.

If you were born unable to produce children, nothing's going to help you without a wish or miracle.
>>
>>51735865
>strick translates to great club
>without his WBL
>uses warrior's spirit to make it a +3 viscious dragon bane great club
>doesn't have haste
>is missing 6 str

we're looking at:
20 (bab) + 16 (str mod) + 4 (weapon training) + 3 (rage) + 7 (great club full bonus) = +50 to hit
2d6 + 24 (strength) + 4 (weapon training) + 3 (rage) + 7 (great club) + 2d6 (bane) + 18 (power attack) = 70 average damage

-6 with power attack
+44/+39/+34/+29

>great wyrm green dragon has 37 AC

So the damage calculation looks like:
.90*2*70+.05*2*2*70+.85*70+.05*2*70+.60*70+.05*70 = 252 average damage per round

This kills a great wyrm green dragon in 2 rounds.

So not quite 1 rounding the dragon while naked with a stick, but that's the kind of power we're looking at without WBL.
