Alright, I thought it would be a little hard to find a willing drawfriend but everything went better than expected
>>51061497Tyranids___:^)___
>>51061497
Probably nurgle daemons. Though a lot of the armies are rather cheap as long as you don't go for hordes of infantry. If you want to get into it chose an army that has a start collecting box.
>>51061660
B-but Anon, it's just a shitposting from memebingo >>51060075Nonetheless if you have any tips for cheap and thrilling army for newbie I would be grateful. I'm like the only one player in 100 000 city so having a few lists for 1000 pts army other than "half of starter set + SC box" would be handy

I know Anon, but I'm just not sure if buying two same SC boxes is the best way to make 1000 pts army for every faction.

>>51062386
If you actually want everything in the box that is.
>>51062501
In general, I'd say yes, two SC boxes are usually flexible enough to allow for a diverse enough arrangement.
Just as an example, SC Pestilens can be assembled with plague monks (no way around those), either a plague claw catapult or a warp lighting cannon, a screaming bell or a plague censer and a grey seer or a plague priest. That's a lot of flexibility.
Or the Flesheater Courts box. Nets you some ghouls, which you always need more of, as well as three flayers/horrors/heroes, a zombie dragon/terrorgheist with or without rider and, possibly, an unmounted ghoul king.
For undead you just combine the Malignant box and the Deathrattle box. Endless combinations.
And even in the cases where the units are sorta fixed in how you assemble them, the stuff in the box is usually something you'll want more of anyway, outside the heroes maybe.
I'm building a clans pestilens army, and I'm not sure what to do for my battle line. I'm running a VLC, a priest or two, a plaguesmog congregation, 2 plagueclaws, and a battle line battalion.
My problem lies in choosing b/w the clawpack and the congregation of filth, and using remaining points for more censer units (dat plaguesmog stacking is nuts)

Hey nerds I need help I recently ordered an ironjaws battleforce. (plus I bought a general's handbook, which annoyingly turned out to have NO ACTUAL RULES in it wtf). I was wondering if anyone had any advice for playing/painting them, besides always taking the ironfist formation.
>>51064471
No. That guy doesn't have any clue what he's talking about and just assumes shit works like it does in 40k
>>51064540
The rules are all in the AoS App, or at the back of every game book. The Ironjawz battletome has everything in the battleforce other than the giant in it.
And my advice is to get a warchanter for them sick buffs
>>51064471
>>51064461
not but there are fun games that aren't rules only by the books...
If you play against 2 opponents or just do a big games and have a force of combined stormhost.
source ; I already field 2 Primes in non-tournament settings a fuckload of time and nobody, N.O.B.O.D.Y cares, and no one will unless its a tournament or just autistic player that only play by the book with no imagination or creative tought.
>>51064590
This guy >>51047838
also have no clue how it works because the GHB forbid games above 2k5 points i guess ?
How sad it is to be you.
>>51064613
To be fair, Celestant-Prime doesn't seem like a named character at first glance. Most people probably don't think he is.
>>51064613
>source ; I already field 2 Primes in non-tournament settings a fuckload of time and nobody, N.O.B.O.D.Y cares, and no one will unless its a tournament or just autistic player that only play by the book with no imagination or creative tought.
You can do whatever the fuck you want in casual games if your opponent is cool with it, but it doesn't matter for jack shit as a whole. Even when playing non-competitive, players like to stick to rules because they like structure.
So in other words, your little anecdotal 'evidence' is completely pointless and moot.
>>51064613
Multiple CP would be insane. That shooting attack is ridiculous, cant even imagine getting 2 of them each turn
>>51064654
No, because that guy's still using the rules. There's nothing about allying in the GHB and it rather explicitly states that you can only have one of a specific named character per army, and since even if you mix factions like stormcasts, sylvaneth and freeguild, all in the same game, you're still only playing one army...
I've been in a coma for the last few years, when did GW put space marines into fantasy? is Empire still a thing?
>>51064719
Pretty much this. We are so used to things in 40k where it treats allies as a separate army. In AoS, it's all treated as one army, consisting of allies. This is demonstrated by battlelines and other limitations. You could have one faction bringing the battlelines, and the other faction all elite, as long as your army consists of at least the minimum number of battlelines.
>>51064661
>>51064719
>triggered grognard
>if you mix factions like stormcasts, sylvaneth and freeguild, all in the same game, you're still only playing one army...
Source ? proof ? i dont see anything addressing combined forces being a single army in the GHB.
>No, because that guy's still using the rules.
so i just need 6x5 liberator to field 10K of extremis ? as it don't broke the rules ?
You are literally worse then "I have a Quran, Islam is peace" fags

And I'm out. It's obvious you are beyond rational discussion at this point and have to devolve to meme-calling.
>>51064782

>>51064782

I have never before seen someone call samefag on someone else whilst simultaneously only linking to one post. This, combined with the fact that you're calling them a phoneposter for no reason, has astonished me so much that I no longer want to spoonfeed you the rules of the game you're too dumb to learn
>>51064881
Nope
I didnt want the snap fit liberators or prosecutors, and I dont plan on using LCOD, so its not worth it for me
>>51064902
Which rules ?
Open play ?
Match Play ?
Open play with points ?
still waiting for the line where a combined force of 3 player in 5k point only need to field 1 requierement of battleline
Holy crap anyone else see this and get excited?
I'm gonna have Bolt Throwers in my Dispossessed army, life is good.
>>51065006
Yep that would do it. Even at a GW official event I wouldn't see that being a problem at all. I didn't even think about that. I may have to get one myself, now.
>>51064613
What are your opponents fielding that justifies you bringing two Primes to the table?
How'd you like someone coming at you with two Skarbrands?
>no one will unless it's a tournament or just autistic player that only play by the book with no imagination and creative thought
Not quite. I personally wouldn't tolerate someone outright cheating. No doubles of named characters. It's always been that way. I'd never use two Glottkin against someone. You sound like a WAACfag.
Stormcast question.
Knight-Azyros or Knight-Venator?
I have the battleforce as well as the start collecting and starter.
>>51066230
Venator. Pretty much the stormcast eternal sniper.
>>51066230
Both are good in their own way
If you can only build 1 then take the Venator, but Azyros is a cornerstone of competitive Stormcast lists
>>51066300
What do they use that the Azyros actually works with? RAW it only functions with a couple of the formations
>>51066247
>>51066300
Thanks, I'll go with the Venator and maybe pick the Azyros up in the future when I'm done building and painting everything.
Another question, do you think grand weapons are worth taking on Prosecutors?
>>51066359
Warrior Brotherhood is the premier Stormcast list. It lets you use Lightning Strike to deep strike your entire army more than 9" away from enemies.
This list lets the Azyros LS into 9", then your entire army can use his Leader of the Way ability to LS within 5" of him (even if that puts you within 9" of an enemy) usually directly into melee with an enemy.
Stormcast suffer from being one of the slowest armies, and the Warrior Brotherhood gives them guaranteed melee combat whenever you want
>>51066426
Not really. Take Javelins or don't take the Prosecutors at all.
Sylvaneth 1000 points:
Harvestboon Wargrove - 100
Forest Folk - 60
3 units of 10 Dryads - 360
2 Branchwraiths - 200
Treelord Ancient (general)
= 1020 points
Artefact - Briarsheath or Wraithstone
Special spell - Regrowth - Ancient is the only heavy hitter in the army and with the spell bonuses of the wargrove, this would keep him alive with D6 healz. Put the Branchwraith with Regrowth on Balewind Vortex and errbuddy's happy.
How'd I do? Haven't played it yet, almost done painting. Keep as is or boost to 1500?
>>51066866
Never run Dryads in squads of 10. You need to get 12+ to get the crucial +1 save bonus.
Branchwraiths are also terrible. Their spell is nearly useless in matched play.
This is why Forest Folk is a bad choice for 1000pt.
>Ancient is the only heavy hitter in the army
Ancient is not a heavy hitter
You need to get some kurnoths with scythes in there or you won't deal any kind of damage
>Harvestboon Wargrove
If you want to run a spellcaster list then you should run Gnarlroot instead.
Heres a cheeky 1000 points moonclan goblins list i have been playing with this week, won 4 of the 5 games i have played so far,
so rate my list for any changes and so on...
Formation: The Great moonclan - 80
Skarsnik, Warlord of Eight Peaks - 100
Moonclan grot shaman - 60
20 moonclan grots (spears and sheilds, 3 netters) - 120
20 moonclan grots (spears and sheilds, 3 netters) - 120
20 moonclan grots (Archers) - 120
3 Grot Fanatics - 90
2 Grot Fanatics - 60
Magnler Squigs - 240

>>51067847
>Not him but in the fluff there is as much Prime that there are houses or whatever it is called.
No
Celestant-Prime is a unique character
His armor changes colour to reflect the stormhost he is fighting beside, but he is a SINGLE character
>>51067899
op with the grot army, can you source that, i cant find it anymore but the last time i read it it stated you can because he has the moonclan warboss keyword, i could be wrong though
>>51067877

>>51068187
What is your next purchase for the army ?
What would you want to see in a fully fledge battletome ?
Sorry for the questions but its an army i'm interested in and i know nobody who play it.
This fucker right here is a fucking murderous beast of hell.
I never realized that each of its 6 Attacks do 4 FREAKING damage vs chaos (more than 75% of my opponents) when equipped with a relic blade
>>51068284
yeah my jaw dropped in the stream when they said that, especially considering all the rerolls this guy gets.
In fact i bought 2 after the stream.... i'm weak
>>51068265
>What is your next purchase for the army ?
I have ordered some rockgut troggoths for a 1500 point list, a second mangler squig and a box of grots so i can have a unit of 40 spear and sheild and 2 units of 20 bows
>What would you want to see in a fully fledge battletome ?
Personally, in a battletome i would love to see more formations, and some new alliance traits and items would be nice. To be really honest, out of all the sigmar armies i have played, moonclan is the best army that hasn't got a battletome yet, so thats that...
in summary, give the moonclan units a read, they have really good combos (especially with the great moonclan), even the mangler squig is one of the hardest hitting monsters in the game, with that considering I hope you come to a decision soon
>>51068284
>>51068344
i still think the grimwrath beserker is better...
Hey guys, I am a total newfag to the AoS setting and I have a question.
Are Stormcast Eternals golems? That is are golden statues animated by sigmar's power and the hero's soul that lies within? Or are they given a body of flesh and blood and just wear golden armor? Or they are a grotesque fusion of metal and flesh, as it is said that "lightning flows in their veins". They can be reforged too which would imply that they are golems but since we are talking godly magics here that doesn't mean flesh cannot be reforged like metal.
I can't find any better sources that go into it more.
>>51068387
Against chaos, no, against everything else, obviously yes
>>51068391
they are spirits of dead heroes encased in armour forged by sigmar with help of the dwarves, and thats pretty much it
>>51068379
thanks you for this.
I only have 2 colossal squig i bought when they first came out to paint and that's all.
Im probably gong to buy a full army in early February
>>51068403
Except that they're not. They're flesh and blood humans that have died, got rezzed by sigmar, and trained to be super soldiers against chaos. Sometimes multiple times. There is a model that exhibits this. It's only available from warhammer world in nottingham, and is in blackface in the official paintjob but...
>>51068391
They are made from metal in the same sense that other creation myths have humans made out of clay, sand, dust or a billion other things; i.e. they are still made of flesh and blood. It's just that that body is just a little bit divine.
As long as Sigmar still has the raw materials for the reforging they cannot be killed permanently unless under extremely convoluted circumstances, but they are otherwise still very human, albeit at the pinacle of what humnaity could be.
And since every single stormcast was a great hero before his selection, you get a whole army of larger-than-life champions of good.
>>51066426
The Knight azyros/venator is ridiculously easy to magnetize to use both. Dont waste your money buying 2
>>51068391
They're flesh and blood humans but they are losing a part of their humanity every time they are reforged
>>51068124
It's because the battallion no longer uses keywords, but the definitive unit, unless the name is in bold.
>>51068124
Also the battallion won't work for matched play anymore because the battallion names are the old night goblin warscrolls, not the newer moonclan.
How do you guys feel on playing the old dragon ogres (metal) as equipped with what I want? I'd want to go glaives for the -1 rend, but all I have are the greataxes. You think anyone will get butthurt?
>>51069987
Just tell them beforehand.
If they get buttmad about it, then that's a sign that you probably shouldn't be playing with them.
Or you could just placate them and say they have the axes anyway, but where's the fun in that?
>>51070083
Yeah, I thought so. It's for a tourny where I have to write up the list beforehand, so I was just trying to be on the safe side. -1 rend will generally do better than 2 dmg, right?
Well, I finally got around to playing a game of AoS. Being a 40k player since 2nd Ed I've always wanted to try out fantasy but never got around to it/ my army taste changed for fantasy often enough that i could never settle on one i wanted to invest in. I was on the verge of getting into 8th, had a few games of it at my local club and settled on VC then the End Times came around and it shook things up and i was mostly excited and then found out it was going to end in a game/rules reset so i decided to wait.
New AoS rules came out and it looked okay but no points cost really threw me and i just gave up on the idea. My local club and game store had a dying Fantasy base anyway and it seemed that AoS didn't help it at all so i just focused on my 40k. Generals Book was released, saw games being played at my LGS and club so i finally had a game around at a mates place, Ironjaws vs Sylvaneth (both belonging to my friend who spends a royal dickton on GW stuff)
I played Trees since i liked the look of them and we actually really enjoyed it. It's much much simpler than 40k, but i've found 40k to be super bloated of late. It became apparent pretty fast that board positioning in this game is a HUGE deal, which is really appealing to me.
>TDLR; I finally played some AoS and loved it. I've since invested in a Sylvaneth army that is currently on it's way to me. Looking forward to building and painting me some trees. I'm also considering Orks and Chaos too. But those are a while down the road.
>Pic related is my wallet.
Could someone explain to retarded newbie why can I use a Plague Furnace in Skaven Alliegance army but no Screaming Bell?
>>51070518
Enjoy man. Sylvaneth are definitely one of the coolest factions at the moment.
>>51070538
You can? It's in the Skaven warscroll with the keyword Skaven. 260pts

Maybe I'm just old but i prefer writing lists down myself, looking over the books and options. Battlescribe has bugs and you've found one. It has a the Skaven keyword it can be used in a Skaven Allegiance. Unless the Allegiance is specifically called something else that isn't in the keyword list on the Ball. But i doubt it.
>>51070640
What's GWs reasoning for not releasing a Sigmar mini? Why did they write him as a God-King instead of a Warrior God? It's a wargame afterall and the titular hero not being playable is kinda strange if you ask me.

AoS cosmology is heavily influenced by Norse Mythology. It's not space exactly, its the Celestial Realm. It's not like you can hop in your spaceship and FTL to the Realm of Metal.
If you're familiar with D&D's Planescape cosmology it's like that as well, just organized around the Lores of Magic.

>>51070748

It's understandable. I'm newbie so for now I'm trying to support myself with some tools sometimes.
>It has a the Skaven keyword it can be used in a Skaven Allegiance
What about battlelines? I mean - I can pick clanrats just for SKAVEN but no Plague Monks. Both have skaven and chaos keywords. Also bug or a rule I'm not aware of?
>>51070784
>It's not like you can hop in your spaceship and FTL to the Realm of Metal.
Lizardmen.
Spume.
Spess Dragon.
The Realms are places in space and you can fly to them if you have the means.
>>51070804
>Bad End.
I feel you, anon.
the only thing I can say to you is that a few things survived while others can be worked back into the old world with ease.
you'll have to look away from the sigmarines though, very often.
>>51070821
You can take Plague Monks for SKAVEN too but they are only Battleline units if you have them in a PESTILENS Allegiance (a whole army made up of the Pestilens clan)
Basically from what i can tell of a quick skim of the Skaven warscroll is everything has the SKAVEN keyword so can all be in a Skaven Allegiance, but some rules only apply if certain clans are chosen to make the army out of, much like in the case of Plague Monks. You can take them in a Skaven force and still get the bonuses therein but if you wanted them as a battleline unit your whole force would have to be made up of things with the keyword PESTILENS.
I hope that makes sense.
>>51071089
Hur wrong picture.
>>51067555
>Branchwraiths are also terrible. Their spell is nearly useless in matched play.
They get access to the Sylvaneth lore though along with Mystic Shield and Arcane Bolt mind you.
That being said, I can't see why he needs two.
>>51070835
It's basically Spelljammer.
>>51070835
I don't think so. The 3 you listed most likely use magic and shit like the Bifröst in Norse mythology.
I mean they probably ARE all in the material space together but i feel they are so far apart that even the basic travel the lizardmen have would not get them their so they use gates and magics or something. I don't know for sure though since i've not REALLY looked into how all the realms thingy works.

Yeah, but everything they do a Branchwych does better. In matched play there is absolutely no reason to take a branchwraith over a branchwych unless you are forced by a battalion.

You can fly between them in ships.
Azyr is a place that can be seen in the skies of the other realms.
>>51071166
Oh well nevermind then. That's fucking stupid. They steal so much from Norse Mythology but they don't take something like the Bifröst?

>Azyr is a place that can be seen in the skies of the other realms.
I'd say the statement two does not necessarily follow as a consequence from statement one. The Realms are not like out reality nor does it follow our rules.
>>51071089
Skaven don't have their own set of faction bonuses yet, do they? Or have I managed to miss it somehow?
>>51071243
Don't be obtuse.
Sigmar arrived at the Realms after flying through space.
Slann arrived at the Realms after flying through space.
Space Dragons fly through space and visit different realms.
Realms can be seen from other Realms
The Realms are places in space that you can fly too.
>>51071089
Oh, so If I buy a SC pestilens box for lightning cannon and screaming bell I can still use monks but not as battleline? Good to know, I was worried that they would be useless and sell them
>>51071282
Uh, Anon...
>So the setting of Age of Sigmar is nine infinitely large realms (eight of which are "mortal") each of which is attuned to one of the lores of magic from oldhammer (and then Chaos). While they are connected by magic and portals and whathaveyou, geographically they are completely distinct and separate. So we have a collection of 9 alternate realities similar to the D&D Feywild and Shadowfell, where they are elementally attuned, but similar to eachother, but in this case there is no "prime material plane". But wait, instead of each plane being a planet or something, it's actually a whole infinite expanse with its own moons, planets, space, and so forth.
>>51071333
Indeed you can still use them. But yes, just not as a battleline unit.
>>51071280
Nah they don't I was just answering the anons question by explaining the Allegiance thing. If he wanted to build a SKAVEN Allegiance army when and if they get a battletome then he has to use units with that keyword and such.
But no, as far as i know aswell, they don't have any keyword bonuses yet. Only some of the clans do and even then it's very minimal like the battleline thing.
Just started playing, what should I give my plague monks? Seems like the staff + blade is a good idea, particularly because with buffs they can dish 4 attacks per model.

You need fluff references for the basic premise?
You don't remember how Sigmar went flying through space before Dracothian picked him up and brought him to the Realms?
>>51071498
I know Siggy was floating in space but just because dragon boy came across him and then they went off to the Realms doesn't mean they are all on the same plane and reachable to any old cunt who can jump really high. Magic and bullshit is in very large supply even in AoS I pretty much took the traveling as a metaphor for a magical jump to the realms.
>>51070558
I love Alarielle!
>>51071533
You can see Azyr in the sky from the other Realms.
The Realms are collections of objects in space, they are reachable by anyone who can fly through space.
>>51071552
Do you have some quote for that? Because the major point of the setting is that Sigmar closed the gates of Azyr to stop Chaos from entering, and the biggest battle until now was for the control of the crossway of portals between the realms.
All of which doesn't make sense is all you need to travel from realm to realm is a big catapult.

>>51071623
The vast majority of chaos forces are also formed by flying things that never tire. Distance is not a problem, considering that you only need Gutrok to arrive on Azyr to open a portal for all other chaos daemons to arrive.
Face it. While there are things that can travel between realms they do it by magic, not by simply travelling straight in the air.
>>51071636
>Why does she have such big thighs?

A portal does not mean instant infinite reinforcement.

Sure, but they could not use magic as well.
The realms exist in space.
If you can travel through space you can travel to other Realms.
>>51071717
I don't care what D&D says about it's cosmology. In AoS you can fly to the Realms through space. As Sigmar has shown.
As the Seraphon have shown. As Dracothian has shown. As Gutrot Spume has shown.

And you know that skaven can literally burrow from a realm to the other? And the Sylvaneth can just walk from a forest in the realm of fire to one in the realm of metal?
What do you think? That the eight realms are eight different planets in space while at the same time they share a single forest, a single underground and a single sea?
>>51071760

They are using magic

>>51071166
>>51071282
False.
There are multiple planets in each realm, but the only way to reach other Realms are to take the Realmgates or use powerful magic.
Slann are demigods powerful enough to reach other realms with their magic.
Sigmar is a god, he can easily go to any realm he wants.
Dracothion is an Old One, which is like god+. He is probably present in all realms at once or something
>>51071850
>you can also fly between them
Well, guess what, you can't unless you use magic to do it. Because while the Slann can fly from a realm to another the same way a Sylvaneth can walk from a realm to another someone not using their magic can't simply enter a forest or fly up and expect to reach another plane. Also it's been already said multiple times that powerful beings can just close the planar bounduaries of the planes to stop anybody from reaching them, as Sigmar did with Azyr.
>>51071880
>We've been told that Azyr can be seen from the sky of the Realms.

Pantheon also confirm that the Realms are basically infinite as "the end of realms" is a methaphisical place from where the realms are constantly expanding, but in a way that they don't have a physical limit.

2. Daemons summoned into existence through the will of the Slann, which are not bound by mortal limitations

Realm's End, as seen in Pantheon, the nearest thing that exist to a limit of the planes, is a place that consist in a gigantic maelstrom of energies from which places, stories and event constantly are generated in small worldlets that then disapper from there and reappear inside the realms, filling them little by little.
Realms are not infinite as they don't contain infinite things (while they are constantly increasing), but they are boundless as they don't have physical limit.

- Warscroll from GW site states that there is no models limit for this unit but GHB sets up max unit size as 8. Does it mean that rat swarm unit can not have more than 8 units during set up or it is a maximum limit for good?
- GHB states that rat swarm is a Moulder unit while warscroll while pic related has only CHAOS and RAT SWARMS keyword. Should I treat it as SKAVEN, MOULDER, CHAOS, RAT SWARMS?
>>51072597
You're the angry nutter that corrected someone's spelling of Gutrot. It's not our fault that you read it so literally. There are too many "why didn't they just go there then" examples for it all the realms to exist in the same plane. Chaos have the ability to travel without the gates and generally they work together so it's retarded to think they didn't just go there.
If you want to see it as literal then whatever floats your goat but to me and to 99% of other people it's a metaphor. Personally i see your one line as what i said before, the other realms look to Sigmar in hope, they see his light blazing in the sky, the realms are filled with simpletons and much like earth of old people looked up at the stars and saw hope in gods light. To me that's what that line means, the lizards looked at the realms and saw that Sigmars light was inspiring those to fight. And the stars are finally aligning for the skinks to step into the fight.

Not really if you can accept that space faring vessels are rare.
>Chaos have the ability to travel without the gates and generally they work together so it's retarded to think they didn't just go there.
The Skaven can gnaw through space and go anywhere, but Chaos doesn't mass invade through gnawholes either.
Chaos does not work well together.
>If you want to see it as literal then whatever floats your goat but to me and to 99% of other people it's a metaphor.
Nope. It's no more metaphor than anything else. Again the opening text also says that the Realms formed in the firmament, not alternate planes or dimensions.

glue some moss onto the figures, try different colors of wood, make them look fresh or super old
>>51073016
Yes, it's the sky, so it is a primitive conception of space.
>>51073053
I was going for an "inner bark" look, which is actually normally fairly smooth. To me the models always looked like the skirt was outer bark, while the rest of the body was the normally covered interior.
I think another light drybrush will help take away the shine the wash seems have given them at the least, so it will certainly be worth a try.
I started using Duncans tutorial, but I think his Drybrush ruined them, which is why I was hesitant to drybrush to much. Also thank you. The Owl is pretty much the entire reason I decided to paint them instead of the Dwarfs I should be doing

>>51073117
Oh if you were going for a barkless wood then don't drybrush them! Thay look great for the idea you have. If you're worried about the shine maybe give the whole model a spray with matt varnish, it's certainly dull or completely remove the shine.
>>51073136
No. We know there is space there, so it is not the firmament as the ancients understood it.
In modern English firmament means the sky or space in much the same way the heavens do.
>>51073081
There are 20 in that one unit. When I eventually do another unit, I intend on theming them after a different kind of tree.

The stuff on the base was actually originally meant to be used to fill in a gap in an old metal Treeman I have, but it ended up looking a bit silly, so I don't know if gluing flock to the actual models ends up looking that great.
Maybe I could experiment with small amounts of texture paint though.

>>51073247
All the time.
>>51072679
The GHB limits are absolute. So it can never have more than 8 models in matched play.
That warscroll is probably old, try to look
>>51073247
The Unit size is not how many units you can take it's how many models in a min or max unit. So for Rat Swarms a min unit size is 2 models and a max size is 8 models costing 80pts per 2 models.
You can have as many actual units as you like though. as long as you pay the points for them. In the warscroll on the GW site it does say you can have as many rats are you want but that scroll is pre GHB so it's writing as if you can take whatever you want for you army. But if that's how you wanna play (without pts i mean) then go nuts with the swarms amigo
As far as the Keywords are concerned I'd go by the warscroll for that unit, the GHB just puts them in the moulder group because the actual groupings of a lot of the armies without battltomes are a mess. I highly doubt you'd find a player that would get shitty about you applying the SKAVEN keyword to them. At the very least they share the CHAOS keyword.
At the moment, since it's Skaven you don't have to worry much about keywords since SKAVEN doesn't actually come with any bonuses. So I'd personally treat the swarms as though they have the keyword SKAVEN.

Doh, I wish my english was slightly better. I know the basics of plaing with points but endless tide abillity confuses me.
So let's say I want to play a pitched battle with my 1000/1000 pts army including a single unit of rat swarm (8 models - 320 pts). It's my hero phase, so
1) I can't use Endless Tide abillity because my unit is full (8 max)
2) I can't use Endless Tide abillity because I have no more free points (1000/1000) to pay for extra swarm model above these basic 8 from unit
?

playing*
As I said - engrish hard lunguage est
>>51072979
Hopefully in the trash were they belong until i got a dark elf battletome
>>51071946
Forgot Skaven and their tunnels
Are there any sigmar-related YT channels worth watching/following? Right now I'm watching Spikey Bits videos but something more would be nice
>>51074056
Spikey Bitz is fucking shit. Watching paint dry is preferrable.
Miniwargaming do videos regularly, but they are hit and miss depending on whos playing in the games.
You know about the podcast community? Thats where most of the stuff happens now, heelanhammer, facehammer, bad dice are all good.
>>51073700
first paragraph of the third column on page 108 of the GHB explicitly states adding models to units doesn't cost. You just can't go above its original starting value if im reading it right..
They are battleline for moulder but dont have their keywords for synergy.. Wish you could add plague and they gain poison and pest keyword
>>51074180
Even Frontline are good
At least when Reece or Franky are around
>>51074056
I listen to the Ninth Realm when i'm hobbying
>>51074286
Guess its been updated via webstore rules
>>51074419
Where can I find it? I triend their android app and skaven compendium - old warscroll everywhere
>>51074286
>original starting value
You can't go above the maximum unit size. e.g. 8 for rat swarms.
>>51074419
>>51074666
Ok, I found it - my bad
This thread belongs to the sons of Hashut
>>51074666
If your app shows old warscrolls you have to delete the warscroll and re-download it to get the newest.
>>51060453
It's good
>>51075283
I have re-instaled app and still showing the old one. Well, fuck this - I wanted to make and print custom cards anyway
GUO Command Trait or Lord of Plague one?
Shame the GUO isn't all NURGLE units gets +1 attack on 7"+ charge
Never played anything Warhammer but have played Malifaux. Really enjoying the AoS novels.
For a complete n00b what's the best SC box out of the following?
Stormcasts
Sylvaneth
Korner
Nurgle
Ironjawz
>>51075951
Khorne, obviously.
>>51075951
Play what you think it cool
Medicore army you enjoy >>> OP army you don't
>>51075951
>Nurgle
>Nurgle
The only answer
>>51075951
nurgle is the best Use for bucks
>>51060453
needs to just be the regular angry sigmarite face
>>51076060
>>51076066
>Slow moving melee "The army"
>For a new player
Even as a Nurgle + Mortals player i'd say unless you like Nurgle go play a different army like Khorne
Nurgle is a trap for newbies
>>51075951
If you are thinking about expanding your army you should buy a starter set and then a SC box for your half. No matter which faction will you choose, half Starter Set + SC gives you a 1000pts army
>>51075971
>>51076060
>>51076066
>>51076096
I like the way all of these look. That's why I listed them.
Nurgle looks cool but I fear, and apparently rightly slow, they're an army for more experienced players.
Ironjawz and Stormcasts seem probably the easiest to pick up, yeah?
>>51076237
Ok anon, how do you like to play
>Hard n Fast
>Hordes, but weak
>vice versa?
Nurgle is pretty easy to paint
>White Prime, Death World forest base, Camoshade wash, Nurgling Green dry brush
>>51076223
Assuming I play Stormcasts or Khorne though, yeah?
>>51063493
Um, I like SU quite a lot.
But I don't see any visual or thematic overlap between two. WTH.
>>51076282
Yup. Try this lists for good and cheap 1k pts armies
docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Wl3zJzmXcXrievqvnoqtlOMHwG3-SCtRXMWfKFQ2ZVw/edit#gid=0
>>51076270
Oh. Hold up then. If that's all it takes to paint I'm in. The painting is intimidating to me. I was gonna follow those videos on teir YouTube to the T.
>>51076270
Oh you fucker. You are posting these damn Nurgles like for 8 last threads. I give you 24h to finish this shit and NurglingsI believe in you, Anon
>>51076237
heh nurgle is the most noob friendly army. They heal passively trough abilities/battalions, they are tough and they don't have to worry about having too many heroes alive/in range.
Just look at the nurgle list that went 9-0 by moving forward at a big tournament last month (relayed here in basically every thread)
GUO
GUO
Herald
20 Plaguebearers
20 Plaguebearers
10 Plaguebearers
6Drones
6Drones
tallyband of nurgle
>>51076344
See how they play first then go in, but yeah my scheme is pretty "simple"
>>51076361
But i finished the squad yesterday anon, sorry for the bad camera thoTh-thanks :3
>>51076374
So you have to buy 4 SC boxes, sell extra stuff and buy two extra big models and 10 Plaguebearers. Ouchbeing poorfag is suffering
>>51076374
That is disgusting. I don't even want to think about playing that.
>>51076374
Shame it looks so boring, despite it's strength
Where's the variety
>>51076237
like this guy >>51076374 said its very noob friendly (the plaguebearers are 10 - 10 -20 not 20-20-10 tho)
they have everything to be noob friendly and i you lack speed just add flying drones or chaos knight (chaos knight are super cheap in $$$)
>>51076491
you dont HAVE to field that, if you want a cheap chaos army buy 2 box of chaos knight and a daemon prince.
>>51076546
I know, but "noob friendly" is a perfect bait for me
>>51076491
remember to buy on website and never pay GW price. on waylandgames and plenty of other website its basically 25% off, stone FLGS can make it even lower if you take the lot
>>51076596
>GW finally has a social media presence and more focused on rebuilding relationships with fans again
>starting to make cheaper bundles(still expensive stuff but overall it's easier to get into the hobby now)
>Now has free tutorials on their YouTube with charming and friendly Duncan
>FUCK GW, DONT GIVE THEM MONEY
>>51076682
Sorry i'm a true warhammer fan, and as such i much prefer having four 2000 points armies instead of 3 for the same price.
>>51076682
i hope you never read a warhammer book you didnt paid for.
>>51076682
Man, If I would like to buy stuff from GW site, I would have to spend something like 31-hours earning for a single SC! box
>INB4 If you are poorfag, pick a hobby for poorfags
Still, I can support my LGSs. The more I buy at LGSs the more stuff they are ordering from GW
>>51076682
>GW doesn't make money from FLGS
>>51076750
LGS is fine.
>>51076596
>>51076723
Im not a poorfag, I dont care about saving a couple of euro by shafting a company I like.
>>51076596
Support your local GW or FLGS, which is also likely the place you play your fucking games too.
Christ, some people. "Hurr I can save a fiver I just have to pay for shipping wait why is gw putting up prices and why is my LGS closed."
>>51076792
heh if i dont buy at a discount i dont buy at all, guess which one is better for GW ?
>>51076977
faggot i just say stone FLGS are even cheaper if you buy bulk
>>51076987
>"I don't pay taxes because Im smart"
>>51077027
You'd be a dumb goy if you had the choice between the same products, and you went with the full price over the discount one
After all GW CHOOSE to sell to 3rd party FLGS, who then CHOOSE to sell at 10-25% off
If GW had an issue selling to FLGS' then they wouldn't. They would rather sell them that SC box for $50 (normally $85) and have that FLGS sell it to you for $70.
That way, GW gets $50 they wouldn't have, the FLGS gets $20 they wouldn't have, the consumer saves $15, and everyone stays in business/playing.
I made up these prices but this is the idea behind it.
>>51078093
In Poland SC box costs on GW 250 PLN. At LGS something like 200-190 and LGSs are ordering them for something like 170-175 IIRC. The truth is that what you saved on boxes you spend on paints
