For competitive high elves, bodies or bolt throwers?

I could get 30 archers and a Sea Helm for a little more than 3 Repeater Bolt Thowers.

The range and rend on the Repeaters seems huge, but having 3x the wounds and model count seems better in competitive play. Factoring the Sea Helm's ability, they can even do a decent Kunnin' Rukk imitation.

Anyone have any input?

The castellan might be nice, but with your list at 920pts he is kinda awkward. I'd consider dropping him for a second Daemonsmith (one for Mystic Shield, one for Ash Storm) and using the now open 100pts for a second unit of fireglaives or K'daai Fireborne.
Or maybe even replace the Casellan for a Battle Standard and use the 120pts you gain from that for a second Death Shrieker.

I honestly think dropping the Loremaster and getting Sisters of the Thorn (They have the Wizard keyword) is better with your army, since Shield of Thorns works incredibly well with Dryads buffed with Mystic Shield.

A unit of Dryads with at least 12 models, Shield of Thorns and Mystic Shield mortal wound the enemy unit in close combat if they roll a 4 on their save, and have a total save of 3. If the enemy doesn't have rend, they will do more damage to themselves than to your unit.

That goes down to Mortal Wounding on a 3 and saving on a 2 if they are in a Wyldwood (since it's cover).

Also they get to reroll failed saves.

Okay I did some tweaking in order to still keep my Blackshard Warhost battalion buff and also have some artillery that moves, while keeping at the 1000 point limit.

How's this look?

So anyone who actually caught the stream today, how did that Dispossessed list do? I don't see dwarfs played all that much (I think there's 1-2 dwarf players at my FLGS).

How does Ogre Kingdoms hold up? I know beastclaw raiders took all the mounted troops ( weird not to group up the rest with them ) are ogre sky cannons , leadbelchers and slaughtermasters still competitive?

Leadbelchers: no. They're literally the same as regular ogres, but with guns. They're best used standing still, and with 12" range, that's not happening.
Sky cannons: Can't say. No-one uses them. If you get the kit, it's apparently better than the scraplauncher, so that's something at least.
Butchers: Yes. Buffs are any and every AoS army's bread and butter, and if you get the cauldron, well that's just gravy.

Anyway, GW has tried to get a more 'Greek/Nordic myth' feel for AoS, which is best shown with one of the Advent stories. It's called Pantheon.

Of course, the new setting's feel isn't for everyone. If you prefer more grim-n'-gritty fantasy, you'll definitely want to look elsewhere, or wait for that book. Either way, it's definitely a fantasy setting. It's just a bit more fantastical than the last one GW made.

Tried a sample game with starter box proxies and it seems so slow, footslogging Stomcasts 4" a turn towards a slapfight.

Any good army choices that let you have fast, mobile gameplay? I'm used to mechanised Guard in 40K.

I've been hoping the upcoming release is in the same vein as Disciples of Tzeentch, a single tome that united the various duardin factions into one book.

I doubt it'll happen though. Fyreslayers already have their own battle tome.

Fyreslayers are off to a fair start I believe, but they could definitely use some tweaks. Notably I think both varieties of hearthguard need two wounds a man instead of one.

I'd also like to maybe see some artillery of some kind. I don't think the game has received a NEW artillery piece since it started.

So We're starting a Campaign on our store and I want to run a themed army based around a bunch of Barbarians fighting for the chance to be turned into Stormcast like Vikings and Valhalla and shit.

The triple dragon battalion is there because i want to try them, but can change the rest if I made a huge mistake.
They wanted me to take 5 Battlelines only on purpose so that my army has a chance instead of fielding half the army as ghouls or having 10+ squad of 10 ghouls that will just get eaten.

Ill probably loose, but the general idea is to spawn the ghoul patrol on the weaker side and fly with the rest to help that side and then concentrate everything i can to try to get through their army in the most disloyal way possible. Hopefully the table will be full of terrain so it will slow them enough.

You can find most scenario rules in the OP I think. They should work fine with the starter set models.

It would probably have been better for you to just buy a Start Collecting set for an army each of you likes than splitting the starter set really..
