The Eisenstein is a reference to the filmdirector Sergei Eisenstein, who made the film "Battleship Potemkin". It's a great movie about being there for your friends, do what you feel is right, and oppose those who opress innocent civilians (i:e; horus exterminatusing the entire Istvaan 3 population an innocent brothers).
>>

Eisenstein was a famous Russian film maker, and one of his most notable works was about a Russian battleship who rose up in revolt against the corrupt officer class, and when a fleet of Tsarists came to put them down, many of the loyalist fleet turned against their bretheren and joined the traitorous battleship.

It's both Sergei Eisenstein and Albert Einstein. Said the ship is named after 2 men from Old Terra, one a remembrancer and one a scientist
>>
>>51059772
It also was Stalinist propaganda. Sergei was basically forced to make movies for Stalin in exchange for the privilege of living through the purges.
>>
>>51060097
Propaganda or not, it's still a great film. The propaganda part is so losely tacked on you could replace the ideology for almost any, and the setting for any kind of setting with ship based warfare, and it would remain a great story. It's a solid story with good structure, the communism is just some shallow glazing, easily replaced by any other.

As for female astartes.
In Primoginator, Fabius Bile, who is the closest anyone in 40k is to a happy Chaotic Good hero" by our modern standards, saids it's unfair and stupid that only males where allowed to become marines, and hinted that women CAN become marines, they're just not allowed. Anon, making male clones is the difficult part because you need a Y chromosome. For females just repeat the X chromosome everybody has.
I mean, Russ has dog genes, everything is easier than that.
Difficult work my ass, just impregnate a woman so hard her ovum ejects the core and the kid inherits both of your chromosomes.

Or infiltrate her womb like Alpharius, you know who you are. Late Merry Christmas to the kids!

It depends on what my enemy is, but he's often by himself. His fear shenanigans make him best destroying small units that he can kill easily. A good target is artillery if he can catch it, or heavy support squads and the like. If they've got robots, then he's by himself fishing for the instant death on 5+. Death by Thanatar-cynis is about all the bots ought to be able to do to him. This is all assuming you play with terrain and not on a golf course, since he's small enough to dodge LoS

>>
I just though of an idea. What would be each primarch's ideal wife. The emperor realizes that all of his children lack any real connection to normal humans and half of them are dangerously unstable. So instead of being a good father and/or role model and talking with the primarchs about not being lunatics and showing that regular humans have value the emperor says fuck it and has Malcador waste his time and effort picking out ideal wives for each of his sons. Regular human women who have been augmented so they won't get ripped in half when they have sex with a primarch.

The question is what would each primarch's ideal wife be like? Personality, appearance, etc.

The main problem with the story is that it was written by sci-fi writers who don't really know what they're talking about when they try to hit on "deep" topics. The same thing happens when comic book writers try to do political or social commentary.

You get a bit of TACTICAL GENIUS in Vengeful Spirit which features BL's very own moon meme.

Interestingly, most depictions of Horus both pre and post-Isstvaan show his talent as mainly being delegation and pinpointing talent in his subordinates. The only time you read of Horus ordering things directly, it's for grand strategic campaigns like the Manachean War or Long March.

Concern about Praetor, Delegatus, and how they interact in an Allied Detachment.

So a Praetor can go in an AD since he has no rule necessitating that he be the Warlord.

A Delegatus must be Warlord unless his Praetor is present. So the logical interpretations would either be a) can't take him in an AD or (less likely) b) You can take him in an AD and that restriction is only for Primary Detachments.

Normally I'd say B is only wishful thinking, since he must be your ARMY's warlord--i.e. the whole force.

However, there's some fuckey wording with how Forgeworld defines the "army" term in the Praetor description. While it says only one Rite of War may be used per army, it then says that allies eligible to take rights can take them anyways, they just aren't affected by the RoW of the primary detachment.

Which seems to lend credence to option B, in addition to the fact that fluff-wise it would make more sense for a Delegatus to be leading a small force than a Praetor, right?

Or am I just retarded?

>>51064509
You can't take a Delegatus in an AD. We've had this rules discussion probably a dozen times now at least. If you want to get a RoW in an AD you need to use a Praetor or a named character with MotL (or, specifically for Armoured Breakthrough, the Master of Armour).
>>
>>51064509
A Praetor cannot be taken in a primary detachment if a Delegatus is present, so if you want both (you can have several Delegati) then the Praetor is relegated to the allied detachment.

More like dumb rules written over stuff that was never fixed after becoming obsolete.
I mean, Heralds are the predecessors of diplomats (the name and winner of the battle of Agincourt was decided by the french and british heralds watching from a nearby hill), as such it would make sense they carried the authority of a Master of the Legion in an allied detachment.

But turns out Heralds cannot fill compulsory slots so they can't be present in allied detachment.

You can beat Horus in your specialty. Barely. But he just kicks your ass at everything else. Jack of all trades, 2nd best of all of them.

>>51066052

Well that's a very weird choice. I had to be reminded to remember it at all.

I remember almost every other episode on that table save a handful, and even then I remember the imagery of the others even if I can't place the episode (IW, WS, SoH, RG).

While the "secret box" captures some of what the Alpha Legion are all about, it's not an exact reference because Patrick was just being stupid, not deceitful.

The problem I have though is that it's not a visually clever gag like the others are. You'd have to remember the entire plot of that one episode to understand it.
For similar reasons I'd find it funnier if the Blood Angels picture had a better joke than "it's a vampire, geddit?", and one that was actually Spongebob and not a different movie.

>>51066729
They can "work" as distraction/denial units for the enemy to waste their efforts removing, or as units for the enemy to ignore until it's too late and the blob can bear down upon the enemy towards the end of the game.

IMO Iron Hands, Imperial Fists, and Sons of Horus have the best reasons to use footslogging blobs without "gaming" via RoWs or what have you, as opposed to just taking the bare minimum "troop tax".

World Eaters inductii are also a stand-out "blob" unit, though they lose the ability to score points and so I don't see them as "troops" in the same way since they're absolute aggro units.

If the idea of footslogging troops doesn't appeal to you and you just view everything in the troop role as a "tax", then consider Pride of the Legion, or a mechanised list. Jump-pack assault squads might be more amenable to you too, especially if you choose a legion for which they are fluffy as troops choices.

>>51066940
I do, but I didn't like that part as a kid and in the context of the image chart it's a bit unfitting for every image to be the art of the cartoon itself ad this one to be an old movie clip that was in the cartoon for a few seconds.

Plus the joke is just "they're vampires huh huh" when in 30k the emphasis of their personality was more on the "angel" rather than the "blood", where the black rage hadn't set in or been allowed to run rampant in degenerated later-founding chapters. The image posted here >>51066554 fits better IMO, though if you can find something better feel free to post it.

Sell them then.

If you're all about the quick-strike stuff then just make them veteran tactical squads, or get plastic rhinos and drop pods.
Otherwise, stop complaining about a situation you entirely walked yourself into.

"Forge World toys" is a weird point too. What are you thinking of specifically that you'd like to use but don't want to buy?

>How about NL?
They get a bonus for outnumbering the enemy, and that's something "blobs" accomplish, and their ROW lets them take drop pods so you can avoid the footslogging thing.

>I'm not saying i have to play on foot, what I'm saying is that I can't play with FW toys because the prices are horrendous.

So play Terror Assault and get Drop Pods for transports, something like

Whatever HQ
3xTerror Squads with Volkite, infiltrate them
3-4xVeteran Squads with Combie-Meltas, Marksmen or Machine-Killers and Drop Pods
3x Deathstorm drop pods with missiles and drop pod assault, can easily be converted from plastic pods.

Bam, almost all infantry and 7 drop pods four of which come on turn one and all of it can be from plastic.

So you want to make due with regular space marine toys? Are rhinos and predators and shit okay? If so the overall army is certainly useful against 40k, you can field lots of cheap bodies and vehicles the former of which are still space marines and thus relatively hard to kill. Beyond that fury of the legion is actually pretty brutal in 40k where 20 man marine units and 2 wound terminators are rare.

>>51067770
>How well does a 30k kost actually play without it against normal 40k?

Well, most of what's in 30k that's not FW is already in 40k. Save Centurions, the fliers, and the Crusader/Redeemer, the 40k Space Marine stuff is in 30k AFAIK, and it's just the prevalence of "better" FW-produced "lost technology" that relegates stuff like boxnaughts, the Phobos, Predators, and the basic Whirlwind to second-fiddle. That, and drop-pods aren't as prevalent in 30k as in 40k, though if you're NL you can get away with using Drop Pods a lot more than other legions can, closer to how it is in 40k.

>DELETE THIS, the tank

Jokes aside, they don't make these anymore, and I was thinking more along the lines of the Cerberus, where the vehicle is radically redesigned to be a tank-destroyer, not just strapped with as many lascannons as it can carry, in a stopgap post-heresy solution.

It's one thing to say the tank can't take turrets well, for a handful of "okay, we'll accept that"-tier handwave explanations, but there's zero reason for the Mechanicum to say "no, we can't take out the front door and troop space and shove a huge AT gun in", especially since they already did more or less the same engineering task in the form of the Achilles, except with a non-AT piece of artillery.

>>
>>51068251

Shouldn't the Custodes have better tech? They're the Emperor's personal guard, so they should have the best the Emperor has to offer. And their stuff is all hand-made, not mass-produced like the Legions equipment. It would be like every single marine had artificer armour and master crafted weapons, and every Land Raider had the special armour of an Achilles and a Flare Shield standard.

What do you think the Grav-Rhino is, exactly?

I don't care, I'll just model that thing as a Rhino. I don't care if it's Land Raider sized, Rhino with grav plates and thrusters it is. I'm playing 30k, not FW's 30k as dictated by St. Blight the Immovable.
>>
>>51068307
But I need it.
>>
>>51068311

A floating Rhino. The Armour is no better than a Rhinos, and Rhinos are very thinly armoured as is. Plus given that Custodians are as big as Terminators, you'd be lucky to fit any of them into a Grav-Rhino. The new vehicle being bigger does make sense given the increased scale of Custodians.

I do suspect we'll get Grav-Rhino models for the Sisters of Silence though.
>>
>>51068320

Then you should get Codex: Space Marines™
>>
>>51068349
But I NEED it.
>>
>>51068278
I agree with that, but there have to be scenarios where the Custodes have to get shit done, and don't have the time or discretion to bring in Astartes to do the heavy lifting for them, and when you consider that the Custodes themselves represent a higher investment than almost anything in the Imperium besides the golden throne and the primarchs, it would make sense that the Emperor or Malcador or whoever would say "fuck it, I don't care how much space it takes storing all these METAL BAWKES we seldom use, if there ever comes a time for the custodes to do stuff, better we waste the Mechanicum's bling and Astartes lives rather than let a single Custodes die unnecessarily'.

And I checked the wikis. Apparently the spin is that the grav-Rhino was an "experimental" vehicle used primarily in the "war within the webway".
>>
>>51068363

Sounds like you NEED Codex: Space Marines™
>>
>>51068332

>The Armour is no better than a Rhinos

>Plus given that Custodians are as big as Terminators, you'd be lucky to fit any of them into a Grav-Rhino.

You can fit 5. Nobody has any problems with a Razorback fitting only 6 Marines. Or Storm only fitting 5 Scouts.

>I do suspect we'll get Grav-Rhino models for the Sisters of Silence though.

Why would something as important as SoS get shitty Marine equipment and not glorious space cadillacs?
>>
>>51068407
SOS are still just humans, for whom Space Marine Rhinos represent (in-universe, at least) a significant upgrade to the Imperial Army fare.
>>
>>51068407

The Coronus does appear to be far more heavily armoured and gunned than a Grav-Rhino. It has a Twin Bolt-Cannon in the nose and a Twin Assault-Cannon turret as well. So it would be more effective as armoured support than a Grav-Rhino, which only has the Boltgun turrets.
>>
>>51068429
SoS are not 'just humans'. They are above and beyond the human fanfare, each one a valuable destructive weapon to the warp simply by existing.
>>
While I still need to finish building a few models and painting a few more, I'm just about done collecting doods for my Night Lords.
Now I'm looking to build a small allied force I can use alongside 'em.

I'm torn between Death Guard (their only 100% allies) or Blackshields.
I like the lore and modelling opportunities of both.
If I do Death Guard, I'm planning on modelling a small portion of the army as full Plague Marines, and others as being part-way through the transformation.
For Blackshields, well, I just think I can have a lot of fun with the fucked up wargear, random xenos bits, and eclectic aesthetic.

HH is worth it. At the moment, it's a significantly better game. And you've got options:

A lot of plastic 40k stuff works, like Rhinos (and Predators and Vindicators), Drop Pods, Land Speeders, and Land Raiders. Rhinos and Land Raiders have alternate designs (Deimos-pattern and Proteus or Phobos Mk IIb) that people identify more as Heresy-era, but you don't really have to pay the higher price for them.

You could get Chinese recasts.

Or, as you've heard, you can footslog. It works with legions that have special rules that help their mobility, like Infiltrate, which NL Terror Squads get. And with the Terror Assault rite of war, you have to take three squads of them as your compulsory troops choices. They're better in drop pods, imo (an options thanks to that rite of war - drop pods aren't as easily available in 30k) but infiltrating is pretty good too. I recommend buying volkite chargers for your terror squads. Take some dreadnoughts too.
>>
>>51068793
The Terror Squad upgrade pack is better. 30k doesn't have as much cartoony stuff as 40k.

But your Terror Squads only need to look really different from normal Tactical Squads if you're taking any of the latter... which you don't have to.

I think the idea is that the Custodes were around before Terra formed an alliance with Mars, so they have the best that Terra had to offer. The Space Marines came later, and received the best that Mars could mass produce.

I'm pretty retarded when it comes to china, and have written myself off as a lost cause there, otherwise it wouldn't be as much of an issue.

Pods make sense for NL I think, so I'd probably use them, and I like that they get teleporting termies, too, though Contemptor dreads are pretty sweet.

2x Calth box Praetor
2x calth box chaplain as artificer praetors
calth box contemptor 2 kheres
calth box contemptor 2 fist in built graviton gun
10x autocannon marines
10x heavy flamer marines
60x marines with boltor, pistol, cc weapon
4x sergeant
6 flamer
6 melta
6 plasma

Planning on getting missile launchers and Calas Typhon.
I plan on getting at least one spartan. Should I get 2? How many total LR transports should I have? I could get phobos as transports for the deathshrouds. Proteus looks neat for sneaking in some heavy flamers.
Adding 1 more contemptor so I can run a full unit.
I want 1 superheavy and was looking at the typhon tank. Sound fitting?

Should I get a derdeo, medusa, xiphon or lighting (which is better), vindicators (laser destroyers or demolishers?) or rhinos? Any of those really jive?

You should drop one power sword from the second assault squad. Officially because then you'll be under the points limit, but really because it would give your list a rather pleasing symmetry. Pip pip, what what.

Hey guys, can you give me some lore clafification?

I play Iron Warriors and would like to sprinkle a few mk6 armors in between all those 3s and some 4s.

Does that make sense? I remember that a bunch of mk6 suits had been taken by the traitors when they overtook mars, but was that retconned at some point?

Also, did the Raven Guard have them in use during Istvaan III? If so, would it make sense to say that they were simply plundered then, since the IW were on Istvaan III as well?

Also, do we have a non-Forge World source for mk5 armor or do we need to wait?

Is there any legion more pathetic than Night Lords? Not even Emperors Children tend to be such utter edgelord failures...
