Are you sure there weren't any side effects for that belt of giant's strength?

But Bureacracy is antithetical of Free Market Capitalism, and usually indicates overbearing federal involvement in a market, and a bloated central government.
How can you fight against both when fighting against one will lead to the other?

>But what about Val's alter-ego, the Vilderavn?
That's really going to depend on how close to the vest Val's player wants to play the vigilante angle. If she reveals that part of her life to Cas he could even make her costume for her.

>>51056682
I imagine it would be less along the lines of Cas teaching Val the ways of the swordlord and more along the lines of teammates sparring (since each character has their own distinct fighting styles)
>>
>>51057320

I feel a tad jealous because amalthea and Casimir was aces and i cant play her.
>>
>>51057350
I'm sure you'll be fine running Onryou. But all of this is just pointless memery anyways. AFAIK neither Cas or Val's players have been involved in this discussion. I just wanted to see if my idea had legs in the eyes of /pfg/ and it appears that it does.

Lazy Princess seems interesting.

Majordomo Investigator seems perfect for it as a super action bureaucrat.
>>
>>51057494
>just reread majordomo
>remember it's awful
Man. Why does it have to give up alchemy for teamwork feat sharing? Why couldn't it have just gotten different spellcasting.
>>
>>51057494
You'll want a mix of social and combat stuff.

Sometimes she'll have you doing political assassinations, or placating a village, or calming a troublesome tribe, or other times fighting a dragon.
>>
>>51057592
Which normal Investigator does better than Majordomo. Majordomo doesn't really get enough to justify getting rid of alchemy.

So here is my biggest piece of advice. There is no shame in using guides to help yourself out. It's much better to scrape by in competency via a guide than not be competent enough to effect the game.
>>
>>51058393

>>51058530 has some good advice. You can find some great guides at http://zenithgames.blogspot.com/2012/11/the-comprehensive-pathfinder-guides.html. If you're really stuck on a particular subject, you can always try asking around here, and there's a chance we might be able to answer it for you.
>>
>>51058393
I kind of have the same sort of question, but in my mind, it depends on what you plan on running. Adventure paths, for example you should probably read up on the continent/country/town they're set in. Completely made up adventures require A more solid knowledge of random rules for situational things or a hard set houserule setup for what the dm decides for situations. Knowledge of combat is never a negative, just to make things go that much faster, either. But like>>51058412 said,

The one I want to design traits for first is called the Iron Dominion (so if any of you have looked at the larger setting document for Lazy Princess, you've seen it) and it's themed around being a country run by inventors that want to improve the entire world with technology that works alongside magic. It is made up of these groups of inventors called Circles, and each circle sends a representative to what is basically the Senate.

The nation made the airships that the entire world uses and has also made trains that use magic and magnetism to float.

The nation was founded by Dwarves, but people of all races are allowed to move in through a long process and are labeled as Immigrant (this isn't a negative label, it just helps with the census). Immigrants are allowed to become inventors as well, and some Circles have more Immigrants than Dwarves.

Most characters that come from this nation would either use firearms or Psionics (the Dwarves have figured out how to unleash the natural talents of many people after the Immigrants started moving in).

>Country Name:
Capre
>Nickname:
Land of a Thousand Lakes
>Government:
Constitutional Monarchy split into three sections. Thirty years ago the bright and glorious cultural revolution raged and changed the country, forcing the Archduke of Capre to sign several papers. The first was the paper of intent for succession from the larger Deneheian empire. The second was the constitution establish the rights of the people and a two house parliament system. Immediately afterwards they removed his arms so that no noble may "Raise their hands against the people". This has been done to his son as well when he took his position as Archduke. The parliament is separated into the House of Masters and the House of Commons. The house of Commons is made up of any individual with sufficient property value that wishes to speak, and where legislature is introduced. It is a roil of opinions as people come and go on their whims. One not even need be a citizen to speak in the house of commons. The House of Masters is chosen by vote of those qualified to speak in the House of Commons. They vote on legislature introduced.
>Landscape:
Wet and humid, numerous marshes and marshlands cut through the country of a thousand lakes, forcing the people to live in and around water.
>Size:
Single large metropolitan population central named Mordrin, it is a city on a lake with a canal dug to the sea and serves as the trade center of the region. Most other settlements are small, settling onto lakes to feed through the streams and rivers towards Modrin to connect to the outside world. So middling population on a whole.
>Imports/Exports:
Exports: Rice, various fish (large canning industry), duck-wheat, waterfowl, horseradish, lumber (river birch, willow), botanicals, alcohol, textiles, peat
Imports: Iron, Glass, various metal goods, jewelry, hardwoods, cattle, slaves
>>
>>51058754
>>51058781
I'd recommend picking a different nickname, given that "Land of a Thousand Lakes" is commonly used to refer to both Minnesota and Finland.
>>
>>51058694
Too bad.
>>
>>51058781
>Relations:
Strained with the Deneheians due to their leaving thirty years prior they have instead found an ally in the Vilgoths on their other boarder, who have tried to coerce them into joining the larger Republic. They have played with the idea, but for now have maintained their independence.

>Ruler:
Archduke Hadrian Coore, an impotent leader used as a figure head to blame the country's woes on. After the loss of his arms at age 19, his father having passed away, he harbors a bitter hatred for the country. Indeed his life is that of a prison, guards ensuring he does not commit suicide to spite the country, and ensuring an heir is produced.

First Master Morgoth is an elderly man, now relegated to use of a cane. He is the longest standing member of the House of Masters and an important figure in the cultural revolution, having lead the Uprising at Bare Bridge to take the royal manor, despite being out numberd, and he himself being terribly injured. As a war hero he used his prestige to gain power, and now sits atop the country. He is a hard liner against joining the republic.

Master Ulsvar is a former member of the Republic now living permanently in Capre, and is a main voice in it joining the republic.

Master Yiller is the current high master of the military, and the most anti-nobility master, in his mind the Archduke's position should be done away with in its entirety.

Bellegin Moore, master of the Wick Dippers guild, an organization born during the cultural revolution. The Wick Dippers were the first to rebel and numerous artisans flocked to their sides. Now it exists as a monolithic trade entity of patchwork industries. Their control on the country is their ownership of Modrin's docks and most domestic ships. Despite this he has never sought mastership and only occasionally graced the House of Commons with his presence.
>>
>>51058785
Some features I could name it after are:
>the giant canal
>the cultural revolution
>the fact they cut the arms off their nobles
>the absolute fuckton of peat they produce
>>
>>51058411
Anybody?
>>
>>51058830
It probably used to have the name "Bridge of the Empire" as the canal was really important to Denehein. However they may have gotten rid of that name after the cultural revolution.

"Bridge of the World" may also work now that they are independent, but I think that's Panama's nickname.
>>
>>51058312
The character is the leftover husk from a famous and beautiful hero whose mind and soul were utterly destroyed without physical harm, resulting in an adult body with a totally reset baby brain. Said body was recovered by allies but left on the street when it was found that the hero's soul no longer even inhabited it or could be returned to it.

Bad things happened to him obviously, being a developing child who looks exactly like a local legend. But I guess it's more tragic what happened to the prior hero if anything.
>>
>>51056996

>>
>>51058411
>>51058898

Well, if gulch gunner is all staying close, maybe try that one archetype that lets you fight in your enemy's space? Mouser, I think it was called?
>>
>>51058898
>Gulch Gunners
So some minor multiclassing into Alchemist would help. 2 levels of alchemist will net you quite a bit.

Minmaxing AC is relatively difficult, as getting above the "50% miss chance" threshold is expensive. You're not a caster, so you can't rely on shape changing.

What I would suggest a bit of alchemist and using reduce person.

Reduce person + Mutagen

Grab a tentacle at level 2 and just say it's a more prehensile tail, use it to help you reload.

Reduce Person + Mutagen nets you 7 AC since you're already small.
>>
>>51058960
So Gulch Gunner 5/Alchemist 2 would serve you well.

Going into Barbarian would also help, but in a different way via Dodge Roll + Dex Rage.

Maybe grab vivisectionist to replace bombs with a little bit of sneak attack damage.
>>
>>51057250

This passage forgets that you live in a world where mortals can MAKE miracles. What's the meaning of a god if a Wizard can do the same thing?

Don't forget there's no way to verify if the gods are actually gods or just sufficiently powerful outsiders. Even mortals can grant 9th level spells with enough mythic levels.
>>
>>51059713
The reasoning behind it is the charisma constitutes the both verbal and non-verbal negotiations with his wyvern for spells. It's about asserting force of personality over the wyvern, and thus the give and take in my mind better represented with a spell prep time and prepared slots.

The prepared casting system, which has within it the ability of prep-casting and spontanious prep as found in wizards and clerics, is fundamentally broken and one of the reasons why full prepared casters are both OP, but also have a steep and annoying learning curve to make them good do to the system being hard on people who don't know how to properly prepare

I agree that 9th level prepared casting is extremely strong, and for the very reasons you say. However the Wyvern Rider is a 4th level prepared caster, in the same realm as the Paladin and Ranger.

As for the learning curve I have experienced it myself where people simply can not handle prepared casting. I however believe that instead of getting rid of prepared casting the folks who can't handle it should simply not play prepared casters.

Alchemists, Investigators, Magus, Ranger, and Paladin are all prepared casters that do not destroy a game's narrative consistency.

These views were the reason that 2e planescape's Athar and Godsmen were actually friendly allies.

One basically states that deities, while immensely powerful, are neither all-powerful nor all-knowing, and so do not deserve to eat your psychic energy from worshiping them.

The other states that you too can become that powerful with some luck, some effort, and doing like those gods do too.

relatively speaking, the only argument is as to whether the gods really are gods; but both are willing to let go of such a minor terminological squabble when save for the exact term they both agree that it's neither unattainable nor impossible.

There are spontaneous casters on par with the tier 3 prepared casters. Skald, Bard, and Inquisitor. For tier 4 casters the Bloodrager sits on the same level as Paladin and Ranger.

The problem with competency comes with 9th level prepared casting, which I agree is generally too strong.

Heck, the tier 2 classes (summoner, sorcerer, and oracle) are all spontaneous and better than the tier 3 prepared casters.

The problem does not rear its head until you are in 9th level prepared casting, which has too many flexible spell slots and too much access to a powerful spell list.

You generally won't care about the int scaling alchemist features (as you won't be taking many levels). 14 int will be enough. Gunslinger as well isn't very Wis heavy.

If you're on 25 PB this will work:

>Str: 8
>Dex: 18 (24)
>Con: 14
>Int: 16
>Wis: 14 (12)
>Cha: 10

Mutagen/Reduce Person are in the ().
>>
>>51060171
I am confused however. They are highly competent spontaneous casters (all of tier 2) and Prepared/Spontaneous casters who share a tier (tier 3 and 4 show this).

Just because you do not find it fun does not mean others do not. It seems a rather extreme opinion you have of it. One that leads me to believe someone playing a tier 1 prepared caster has ruined a game you've played in at some point.
>>
>>51059917
Mechanically? I have no idea, I guess it goes with the if a druid dies, can another character have it's animal companion as their animal companion.

I would say yes, as long as they have levels in a class archetype that gives the Black Blade, otherwise I would say the Blade refuses to be wielded by the unworthy. Like Mjolnir or something.
>>

What are Psychic Warriors supposed to do again, other than buff themselves and hit things? Other than Warrior Path, they don't seem to get any interesting class features until mid-levels, and the paths themselves just... aren't that exciting? Martial Power looks like it should make the class something of a pseudo-magus, except none of the path powers actually support that kind of play, so in practice it only lets you buff yourself while fighting.

These are as far as I'm concerned the final decisions on this situation, as I think this is the most fair way of going about it, although I might throw in a penalty against intimidation checks for the targeted shot since it seems thematic to be scared after someone shotguns you like that.

I think it pushes characters to be as uninteresting as possible. You have limited slots, and you have limited castings, so to make most out of your spells you have to choose ones that apply in a large amount of situations. Characters will end up choosing roughly the same spells. Very rarely will you get things like fire mages, or other specialized types, but it's inefficient. And I feel vancian casting helps push us there, prepared in particular.
>>
Looking at the Teisatsu Vigilante it seems like my options as a vigilante suddenly balloon.

Out of the UC Monk powers these are the ones I have identified as useful:
>Abundant Step
>Freedom of Movement
>Insightful Wisdom
>Ki Metabolism
>Ki Visions
>Sudden Speed
>Qinggong Power

On the side of Ninja Tricks I am seeing:
>Darkvision
>Ventriloquism
>Vanishing Trick
>Sudden Disguise

The idea is, since this is for "Lazy Princess" and because this is asian theme'd some use of an assassin would be not only warranted but prudent for the princess.

However there is only so much space for a build to work. If Legendary Vigilantes are in play it becomes easier, as feats allow me to grab extra vigilante talents. As well as Exposed Vigilante allows me to grab an extra social.

However a problem I am seeing is the Teisatsu does not get improved unarmed natively either. What options are their for an unarmed vigilante besides Fist of the Avenger?
>>
>>51060558
This is less true for a prepared caster than a spontaneous. A spontaneous caster has a much higher opportunity cost as they can not easily gain new spells and have a limited list they can cast from. Thus their choices are more restricted because they need to make their few spells count.

A prepared caster can change each day.

As a whole, I think the potential for it was a little too high, although I might bring the ability to get some extra attacks through that as a feat later, since right now there's still room.

The name for that and the archetype as a whole is still up in the air, although this book might have two sample characters.

Let me get opinions here; would you rather have a carapacian predator or onslaught sniper as your iconic sample character for this book?
>>
>>51060581
Well it's also my issue for spontaneous, but it does apply to prepared. You have less spells (usually) and you definitely have less castings of each type (though with proper divinations, meta-knowledge and the like that isn't really a disadvantage.) I mean, at least prepared does have access to a lot more spells than spontaneous, but if they want to be useful for more of the day they still have to choose the same few spells that are useful in a wide variety of situations.
>>
>>51060636
Generally I would say this is incorrect. Because as a caster you always keep slots open for specific situational spells that you learn you are gonna need throughout the day. Only an incompetent player doesn't do that.

The only big issue, is regarding dungeons and indoors, depending on the kind of giant. If it's "just" a large size category giant, at most it would have issues regarding tight corridors with low ceilings, but still able to move around...although not-so-much so far swinging a sword goes.
What they become great at, is outsdoor survival and travel, as well as "party mule" of sort.
This can give a dual use to the party: the giant party member is for open-space , boss fights, and so on. When things needs to get more diplomatic, or you need to get shit done that is indoors, the rest of the party gets to shine. It's all a matter to balance well the spotlight among players.
Not easy, but potentially doable.

No it's not, that's just /pfg/ trying to demonize paizo over everything. There plenty, and I mean fucking plenty, of reason to demonize paizo without having to make any up.
>>
>>51061970
Probably Gisae's, but I never defined her size. It's not really relevant.

Pretty much. Have some important, established NPCs that aren't in positions for PC romance like a quest giving ruler or someone requesting their lover be rrscued, be known, but the rival party, random barmaids, hirelings and the rest could all be into any PC, if they take an interest.
>>
>>51061972
Yeah that's bullshit. Alain is nailed for it because he's RUDE about being a womanizer; Valeros is just a fun guy to be around and respects boundaries (although he does get a laugh out of pinching some ass in the saunas in at least one picture).

>>

Incorrect. The majority of the Iconics are straight.
>>
>>51062086
Tomboys are allowed to be busty, it's more about mindset and attitude. Though it's customary to keep the tomboyishness accented by having her bind them somehow--makes the reveal of just *how* stacked she is all the better.

Had a scifi game with a race of sea slug people. They used air bladders to float, which just happen to appear as breasts and/or a belly, even the men. One slug girl was quite fond of pumping herself up to hit on a PC she liked. Once pushed into beach ball sizes.

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/feats/combat-feats/advanced-weapon-training-combat
>>
>>51062515
You can't jank into it that way, Martial Focus specifically only works to satisfy Weapon Mastery feat prerequisites.
>>
>>51062515

I know a rogue could probably get into a shouting match with a DM about the Rogue Talent named Weapon Training being a class feature. Maybe he'd win with enough gusto or whatever, it is all on Paizo for making so many fucking name conflicts.
