Moving from the HHG with my Blackshields project. I'm attempting to create a hybrid between the Iron Hands and the Iron Warriors paint scheme, I want unadorned power armor with a greenish tint or a copper green sort of thing.

This what I have prior to adding Biel Tan Green Wash and Warplock Bronze.

Any paperhammer guys here?
I'm trying to papercraft a Warlord Titan with one of those PDF templates out there, and I'm trying to do it with a Cricut. For those unaware, a Cricut is like a printer but it cuts out and scores paper in very fine detail.

I was wondering if anybody here by chance knew of a way to convert a PDF into a file to be used by one, or of any pre-existing patterns for a Warlord Titan made specifically for a Cricut.

Thanks.

>>
>>51012567
dunno man.
If you just want more models check ebay.
I probably have around 200 boys and that kind of just happened by accident.
To be fair that was when black reach was the starter so these days it might be a bit harder to find them, but still. Boys are dirt cheap.

As for non-GW orks, the only ones I can really think of are shieldwolf, but they are fantasy and I don't think they are much cheaper.
Maybe mantic marauders are cheaper?

But honestly I don't think getting boys cheap is gonna be hard, if you check the second hand market.
>>
I keep getting small bubbles forming in my paint when I apply it to the model. What could be causing this? At a friend's suggestion I've added dish soap to break up surface tension but that hasn't really helped. Could my paint possibly be too thin?

Alright detectives, I'm looking to build this model myself. I've gotten the basics of it already:
Body is storm talon
Rear fins are from a valkyrie
Missile pod is from skyray
Assault cannons are from various kits, possibly broken up from stormtalon
Engines replace the missile launcher spots, holes left behind covered with sensor antennae from stormtalons.

But WHAT is that windscreen from? I can't figure it out, and I love it. Its sleek and aggressive, looks just like a shark.

>>
>>51014089
Not 100% sure. The inside slots look almost cut out, but the edges of the screen dont look glued, so I'm not sure if its plasticard, either. Its possible I can just leave the screen the way it is without a different bit. But the way it looks here is very sleek. Maybe the storm hawk panel will fit?

clay tools are gonna be huge.
Look for wax carving stuff.

Though if you have something with the leaf shape and a round bit on the other side you got a tool that you can do 90% of your sculpting with.
The rest you can do with your finger, a blade and a needle.

Though I'm gonna say a clay shaper is a good investment. Those are silicone tipped brush handles that are great for smoothing out GS.
With those you can get everywhere your fingers can't get.

He's thought about a bust, but decent ones are either almost sold out or incredibly expensive. He also wants to put her up in his office, so a 30+ cm bust would be a bit too much of an eye-catcher.One alternative he's also considered was a 20 cm statuette, though that one only comes in a bundle with Luke and costs 100+€

Anyone with a hormagaunt and some ork boyz legs spare lemme know if you can fit the ork legs on the hormagaunt's back?

I cut off the knife bits on the hormagaunts, and then stick its arms and legs to wheels and put an ork boy on top of it.

My issue is I'm not sure if the ork boy will fit on top of the hormagaunt

I don't even know. I was lamenting how much it would cost for me to run any number of bikes in an ork list, and my mate suggested converting something. And then another mate suggested using hormagaunts, and mork (or possibly gork) did the rest.

The cooked up some lore for them today if anyone is super interested but I really wanna know if they'll fit together. Anyone able to help me out in that regard?

Start with a base of chardon granite, drybrush with dark grey, followed by 2 additional layers of grey, wash with brown weathering powder mixed with a healthy amount of water.

Also, sand the base around the cork first. This you paint in regular browns and drybrush adding a bit of bone.

Finish of with a small grass tuft and you should be left with a descent result. What you need to work on is your execution, this cork for instance, its to round and to "perfect". What theme are you going for? Is it a bit of road, or a natural rock? Try gluing a larger cork piece on the base, let dry, and then "rip" it gently from the base to get a more natural looking edge. Finish by going over with a hobby knife in an attempt to create even more realism.
>>

I was thinking a broken bit of road or otherwise more urban, which seemed fitting for the crazy batmans. It's hard to see in the pic, but I actually ripped it in half and glued it back together to make a sort of crack running through it.

I was too excited to have it and did not want to wait a week or more for a replacement. Once its cleaned up and I've got it painted I don't think it'll look bad, the main issue is that the top carapace plate (aka the single biggest piece) wouldn't bend enough to curve into place in both the front and back, so I chose to fit it in best as I could and, well you can see the rest of it. The rest is a combination of making joins seamless or covering over holes i made for pins - the shoulders are apparently designed to have space on either side of them but I didn't like it so they got filled in. Made me laugh when the manual says they've used the best techniques possible so you can get the best possible result but some work may be required.

Dude, go to your local "fixer shop". I got mine at a place that sells everything from toasters to DVD-players, if they got a tool´s section, you're bound to score.

I bought mine for $10.... yep, thats it, $10, with hose, and two extra caps (one lid can and one large open can) on the side.
Its no Iwata or harder & steenbeck, but will work just as well if your on a average armature level.
Hell, even painting studios such as Awakened realms say they rather buy cheap shit that breaks and can be replaced, for less money than just a spare needle to one of the larger "better" brands. And if they can produce good enough quality to be the nr1 commission painters in the world, it should be good enough for the rest of us (not trying to score a golden daemon).
>>
>>51018313

Better to take your time and know you are pleased with the results, than to do a rush job only finding it lacking in quality.

This hobby takes time, its just that simple, any thought of "Ill just finish this up quick", is a step towards disappointment. Sure, there are ways of painting faster, experience and the right tools for the job often do the trick, but it still takes time.

Err... a little while back when the internet already was a thing GW frequently uploaded some of the - very good - White Dwarf hobby articles to it's homepage, including painting tutorials and guides for making scenery from scratch etc.
The american page even had it's own hobby ezine updated regularly with original content.

Free tutorials are a thing GW used to have. They just removed them at one point to gauge more money out of their customers.

The new management seems to have a much more sensible approach to the hole thing again.

So it's a brush from before the brushes changed naming, so the tip is probably worn out.

Buy a good small brush (citadel or other), keep it specifically for tricky details and take care of it with soap.

Other than that, you need to thin your paints so they flow smoothly and then control how much is on your brush so it doesn't flood the eye socket. Also try techniques you can find on youtube, like painting the socket dark and then just adding two dots of white.

>I want to make a Sanguinary Priest with a jump pack. Now, what models would I splice together to actually have that sort of thing? I imagine I could easily take a basic assault marine, but I'm not sure where I'd find a narthecium arm. Any suggestions?

The Third Edition Blood Angels Honour Guard came with a metal Sanguinary Novitiate. His right arm (which I believe is actually a Reductor rather than a Narthecium) is a separate bit.

Since a Sanguinary Priest can buy extra wargear and relics, though, might I suggest you do something else to differentiate him? For mine, I used an Apothecary's torso, but it was more important to show that he had a Blood Chalice (available in the Blood Angels upgrade blister) and Valour's Edge (Third Edition Terminator Captain's power sword) than a Narthecium. Also, his being painted up in white rather than all red will help him stand out.

The snow is perlite, there's no paint on it. I do admit the coverage isn't great, though. It's a son of a bitch to work with, I just tried it because that's what I had in the garage. I might scrape it off and pick up some play sand or something.

I used to have the exact same prob, before I switched to using Gesso for brush-priming. I think some paints just suck for priming. Try Gesso or otherwise look at the paint itself, maybe theres a problem with that.

So I didn't paint it, a friend did ages ago and I can't find those pictures. I mostly helped by providing the narthecium & apothecary shoulder pad, and pinning the foot so he can hang at that angle (the foot doesn't actually touch that pillar).

All this was for a 30k Deathwatch game, so strictly speaking this character was just an apothecary.

guys, I need help.

Currently, I'm waiting for my two Lords of Nurgle to arrive (pic related) and I'm going to convert one of them into AoS, and the other into 40K. Now, I want them both to be mostly, if not completely armored, and I need help with how to make this work.

my current plan is to remove the arms completely and maybe re-work the standing pose a bit for both. Here comes the crux of my problems:

*for the Age of Sigmar one, I originally intended to use some of the armor "fronts" that came with the Putrid blightkings, and sculpt a back for it using greenstuff. thing is, I performed a Dry-fit with an older lord of nurgle I have lying around, and it won't work with the stomach being as large as it is. Any ideas on how to re-work this? I was thinking of maybe cutting the armor off at the stomach area, use an old Ogre gut-shield and join it together with the armor, in sort of a Smough from Dark Souls kind of way. Could that work?

*For the 40K lord, I am currently thinking of power-armor torso to build upon, but I am unsure in which general direction and style I want to take it. Again, I want it more armored than Fleshed - maybe with holes in the armors themselves where you can see guts and the like. Maybe I should draw inspiration from the Forgeworld Plague marines?

Any tips and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Have this old un-finished chaos spawn for your troubles.

Not sure if I got this right. But if I understood correctly you want to use the Blightking armor, but the Nurgle Lord's belly is too big?
Simple fix, cut the belly off and put the Blightking armor piece where you want it.
Rebuilding the shaft of the axe is gonna be easier than sculpting the armor yourself.
And I think the Ogre gutplates might be too big.
I only have the Ogre stuff though, no Nurgle Lords or Blightkings for comparison.

On the point of scale, aren't the Blight Kings about as big as the Nurgle Lord anyway?
Can't you just build the model entirely with the BK kit?

If you cut the belly cleverly you could paint it like an armor plate.
You know, put the belly onto the mini, add a raised edge with rivets like on the other Death Guard models and then just paint it like a giant piece of gut armor, through which his insides are already spilling out.

Putting him into Power Armor might be tricky cause his shoulders are so wide.
If you put regular PA shoulder pads on him, you already got a good bit of the look, but the neck, chest and arms are gonna require some sculpting of armor to make it look convincing I think.
>>
>>51026042
>Rebuilding the shaft of the axe is gonna be easier than sculpting the armor yourself.
oh, both of the arms will go, too. I will give him new weapons/a greatweapon instead, using other bits. But I see your idea.

>On the point of scale, aren't the Blight Kings about as big as the Nurgle Lord anyway?
>Can't you just build the model entirely with the BK kit?
yes, and no. They are about the same height, and close to similar width, but the NL is fatter, and slightly wider.
I also don't have that many parts over from building my BlightKings, so there's that.

Brilliant! That could work excellently, and wouldn't use too much greenstuff either!

You can stick mixed greenstuff in the freezer to retard the curing process; you're probably OK.

Thanks. I was thinking I could use notches, but they're a bit harder to implement without destroying the aesthetics of the model or adding small details that are hard to print.

Are either of these two arrangements easier on the eyes or look less crowded? I rearranged them to give a bit more room in the front.

I'm using Blender to model these. I really need to learn to use OpenSCAD or FreeCAD, but I just can't find the time to.

Watch duncans tutorials on painting guard tanks. Or find a tutorial on painting ultramarines.

Basically youve already applied a dark blue. If you want camo pattern or some other stencil design apply that now in a second colour. Wash next. Then you have the option to highlight by hand (or airbrush) or to drubrush a highlight. Then go back and paint the individual details (air intake blades, cockpit and handrails ect). Then paint the sections of the canopy that require painting. Seal the rest of the model before gou glue to canopy into place with pva/wood glue.

Closest idea I had come up with was a dirty gray, almost like stone or a rainy sky with some darker browns mixed in but I'm not sure, any ideas?
