We'll go everywhere in search of beautiful things and I will use my digital uplink to consume every kind of music ever and shitpost /mu/ until there is no more music to listen to. I wonder if I should have taken human network for this since it only talks about "information" and no type of "media" but SON has a line about "ship made art" so I don't know. Since the DLC gives you SON anyways I would probably go for the human focus then (but maybe by "exploring" we can get access somehow else). Also will enjoy my shipfu to the fullest since we're together for ever.

IIRC, the author's idea is that the Ships are basically in charge, but as a rule they have Human 'pilots' to keep them grounded psychologically.

They're not bound by the limitations of meat brains, so they could mentally 'evolve' in directions that would be very bad for everyone else around them.

Having a Human keeps them 'grounded', so to speak.

Use brighter font colours. The point of drop shadow is to contrast the text to make it easier to read, so you need bright text. Pick colours that are relatively pale/desaturated for text, always. If not, the hyper-contrasted with its background.

The textures you have over the text in some areas also detract from readability. I'd suggest blending it in better, such as lowering the texture opacity or picking a more neutral texture.

Calm down on the font styles. You have different fonts for different bodies of text everywhere, and all the different font colours just make it overwhelming.

I really don't like the whole metal bar thing with the "CYOA". It really doesn't fit with the rules to of the CYOA; I'd expect a more magical/runic style for this header.

I'm being very nitpick because you have potential, and I really like that you're exploring all kinds of stylization. Overall, you're doing a lot of things right. Your biggest flaws are consistency and colour choices/contrasting.

In the real world lots of people don't need to kill each other yet do it anyway. Giving them even more power and less of a cohesive society will make them kill each other more, not less. Especially since their supernatural power is reliant on serving up kills to the master of the hunt. I don't know why you guys sperg out about the monster hunting CYOA so much. It's obvious you're going to make a group of friends to hunt with pretty quickly and form connections with others during your R&R. The Culling is just about avoiding the weirdos and teaming up with normal people to then go hunt down the weirdos so that everyone wont have to worry about them next year

my only real problem with the monster hunter cyoa is that it seems that once you reach a certain skill level then you're pretty much never going to die. Given that all the hunters are immortal this should result in a gradual increase of hunter population indefinitely. without some reason for skilled career hunters to risk themselves I don't see how this doesn't result in the population getting bigger every year

AKA you survive prison by joining a gang for protection and as part of that gang you kill people who aren't in your gang. Your gang claims territory in order to control the resources in that territory to help survive, and fights with other gangs for control of those resources. Eventually, gangs are depleted by the fighting and killing, and have to recruit new members or be overwhelmed and killed by other, more powerful gangs.

there is no benefit for killing other hunters in the culling. You don't gain anything from it. The most you get is their custom fitted gear which would be useless to you. Only the sociopaths are going to be killing and it seems almost 100% the case that they are the ones who are going to get hunted down.

It would honestly become either the lynch-mob mentality or factional warfare. People are naturally social and would band together in groups. I really don't see how people who pursue being solo would survive the Culling at all; you bet your ass that a sizable group would go out and hunt faggots like piss bomber anon. Even more likely, several groups would join in on the hunt. It would literally become a game to see who could skew him first, and if you get caught by one of his traps, there's many more who are willing to pursue him. Either way, you're exponentially safer if you have people to work with.

What you should be worrying about for the Culling is being in a group or faction, and not pissing people off.

As such, I always invest in as many social perks as I can.

The territory isn't the monsters, it's the towns. The markets that sell supplies, the blacksmiths that make armor and weapons, the alchemists who sell potions, etc. Those are things that a gang will need to control in order to beat other gangs, so the ones that control those will fight to hold them and the ones that don't will fight to try to take them.

Gang warfare is a big deal in pretty much every population center on the planet. Humans like to form gangs, and those gangs fight other gangs for control.
