Jumpers! Have you ever used Return?
>>
>>50985530
Yes, either to spend more time with friends i've made that i haven't companioned for some reason or because i needed more time to loot the place to the bedrock.
Or just because i want to wait for some drawback to go away before i do something.

It's not like i'm in a hurry, i don't have anyone i want to companion that would need a pod and most of the other warehouse options can be replicated with a few tech perks.
So i generally take Return.
>>
so how did you find jumpchain?
>>
>>50985674

I had been lurking /tg/ for about two years and kept seeing Jumpchain show up on the index. Popped in once, didn't understand it, gave up and went elsewhere.

I then tried again during a long dry spell in games, and I have deeply regretting my decision ever since.

Jump #236: Rome
>The High Priestess, reversed: The forces of nature unleashed.
>Age: 30
>Location: Greece
>Identity: Roman Patrician
>Drawbacks: Et Tu, Comes? (+600)
I'm bringing along all my companions and aiming to make the Roman empire a better place. It's 50 BC and I'm introducing steam engines. I'd be surprised if everyone WASN'T trying to shank me.
>Soles of the Empire (Free, Roman)
Walking is the most tedious thing, but I suppose if I'm running around the Roman empire at the speed of sound, people will get suspicious.
>Empires and Legacies (1400, Roman)
I'm working toward the good of the Empire, to make it last rather than forcing it to rest on the back of slaves for the next five hundred years, until it falls apart. I think that's worth something.
>Trading Up (1000)
If I am to make things of value, I will have to ensure they're made right. When people realize the potential impact of what I'm doing... this is going to be a brand worth something.
On a related note, it's going to take a LOT of work (or a really awesome marketing campaign) to make this matter in most jumps unless you piggyback on something - ten years is not long to build a brand at all.
I'll have to see if there are any jumps that I can buy a company in that I can take with me and make them exist retroactively in future jumps.
>Affluenza (Free, Patrician)
As much as I'd love to not rely on this... there'll be times where I just run out of fucks to give. This helps cover for that.
>We Understand Each Other (900, Patrician)
Oh good, now I can confuse everyone watching at home until the end of the season where it all is thrown into a COMPLETELY different context!
>Good of the Family (700, Patrician)
I'm not really sure that I'll be needing to remind people of the (rather extended) family that we're all basically a part of, but this is a good 'get your head on straight' perk if my companions do get too wrapped up in silliness.
>>
>>50985862
>Darling of Divinity (200)
Oh, fancy. Now I'm a little luckier, my legacy will be remembered, and I radiate authority. Then again, if my legacy ends up being what I'm aiming for...
>Family (0)
As I said, my companions are a family, of sorts. It's just a little more literal than it used to be.

There was once a dream that was Rome.

The reality is thus: Rome is an empire built on the backs of slaves, indulgent in excess and uncaring of bodies in its wake, ignorant to most progress, reliant on patrons to get anything done.

This will change, because western civilization needs to step up its march.

Ten years is not a very long time, especially when it means I have to get involved in Roman politics, but if I get in with Gaius Julius Caesar, I can get these changes pushed quite quickly. And I have the abilities to do precisely that, as well as to basically amp up the creativity of anyone who follows me (i.e. anyone who starts using steam based machinery).

Sure, to start, they'll be little more than curiosities. That's why, along with the steam powered machines, there'll be sudden breakthroughs in metallurgy and other fields. Romans love their hot baths? Well, now they can have a hot bath all day long. Here, this is how you plant a grove of a certain kind of tree, cut it down five years later, turn it all into charcoal and do particularly well. In fact I've left behind pages and pages of potential advancements that will serve the Roman empire over the centuries to come. Like these septic systems, this sewer system, water supplies and pumps and why the pipes should be ceramic or copper and not lead, even a form of refrigeration... and so on.

And with the changes made here, I intend to slowly make slavery unnecessary. To increase the wealth of the empire overall and give it a proper middle class. In time, to ensure that the luxuries that the higher classes have can become commonplace and widely enjoyed.

There is a dream that is Rome.

It shall be realized.

Lurked for ages until I decided to try and make the Worm jump. Stayed since there were several folks who were also in MR and I enjoyed hanging with them again.

Sins of the past.
>>
>>50985674
CYOA gen when Pokemon and Infamous were made. They were nifty. And then other people started making jumpchain documents. And then we got our own thread.

Two and a half years later, here we are.
>>
>>50985530
Yes. Back to Pokemon as soon as I had left it.

I'd like to say that I had some master plan to set myself up to control the world or even that I wanted to take as many Pokemon out into the multiverse as possible, but truthfully I just couldn't bear being away from my wife and our close friends. I'd already done it once before and I didn't think I could do it again so I put it off while also picking up a Pod or three.
>>
>>50985674
I saw some jumps posted in random places, the idea of interconnected CYOAs seemed interesting so I tried to find out where they came from.

Didn't actually find the thread while I was looking for it, I saw it while lurking in a 40K thread quite a while after giving up.

Funny thing, actually. I came across cyoas my freshman year, and became obsessed with the Power Armor CYOA. Then i found some jumps in the form of archived PDFs (back when fucking everyone didn't know about jumpchain)

Eventually i found myself at /jc/ thanks to /cyoagen/. Got here around thread 262 or so
I revamped+imaged the SALT jump and remade most of the small horses jump

I sometimes bend particular rules to make what I think is a more interesting narrative. See [Demon on Wheels] Perks also aren't infallible and have a failure rate depending on how impossible something would be 'normally', mostly in terms of charisma or how anti-climactic the success would be.

Jump #237: Total War
>The Lovers: A decision calling for emotional control and faithfulness to spiritual values.
>Age: 18
>Location: Rome, 270 BC
>Identity: Faction Heir (-500)
>Drawbacks: Where Do All Of These Asssassins Keep Coming From? (0)
Mandatory drawback from being faction heir. Tsk.
>Army Without A Home (400)
Never hurts to ensure my armies can get more mileage out of their supplies.
>Reform, You Spineless Dogs! (Free, Faction Heir)
At least I can keep my armies from fleeing if it turns out badly. Which makes their battles bloodier, but much more effective against an enemy.
>Run Them Down! (Free, Faction Heir)
And when the enemy runs, we're much more effective in pursuing them as well.
>Nothing To See Here (0)
Doesn't hurt to be able to be ignored when I want to be.
>To Me, Brothers! (Free, Faction Heir)
And the troops keep getting scarier.

I mean, a solid army is exactly what is needed to get things to where they need to be.

But perhaps you weren't listening earlier.

There is a dream that is Rome.

I will drag it into reality, kicking and screaming if I must.
>>
>>50985674
I Googled CYOA's and eventually ran into Jumpchain.
>>
>>50985674
I was a long time CYOA Gen lurker. I had been around and played the bigger releases: Magical Realm, Conduit, PACYOA, Stardust, and I knew QS from his builds.

So he started making a Pokemon CYOA and while I wasn't a big fan of Pokemon I was curious to see what he'd do with it. So when proto-jumpchain got kicked out of general I followed it over and I've been here since.
>>
>>50985945
I actually try to make sure all of my Companions have a role in the group. It helps people feel important when they have something they can do better than you can. It's an essential part of team building and good for group dynamics.

Raven (Teen Titans): Second in Command and Magical Powerhouse. Seriously, as much as I know about magic, Raven blows me out of the water every single time.

Wakana (Imawabi No Dakini): Magical Blender. In terms of raw firepower she is second only to me, especially after Forgotten Realms. She may not act like it most of the time but when she dander is up she can blow away small mountains or shred entire platoons of enemies.

Yamato (Imawabi No Dakini): Necromancer. Not something I ever expected to have one of my Companions specialize in, but after Shaman King he really took to the art. He's happiest on a battlefield where he can really stretch his talents to their limits.

Major Lina (Ring of Red): Rear Line Strategist. The planner of our group. Takes my half-baked ideas and takes care of all the little details I tend to forget when I run off all half-cocked. She's also insanely handy with a rifle and will happily demonstrate this given half a chance.

Okuda (Is It Wrong To Pick Up Girls In A Dungeon): Berserker. Considering she started out as a Support from her own universe, I find it hilarious that she turned out to be our front line specialist. She takes basically every strength and melee perk she can find and will gladly charge opponents ten times her size with just a sword in hand.

Rip Van Winkle (Hellsing): Ranged Support. I mean, naturally. Just try to keep her from this role. I did give her antique rifle some major upgrades though.

>>50986036
I tend to bend the rules when the story demands it, but I try to keep the spirit of the adventure in mind every time I do. I also tend to use the "If you can convince them, they can become Companions" house rule when a Jump doesn't have a way to buy the character that I want
>>
>>50985674
I found Pokemon/Infamous/Warehouse on the SB thread, downloaded it, was unimpressed, and left it on my HD for a year.

Later, I stopped at an out-of-the-way motel with shitty wifi on a roadtrip, and I was bored so I read it again. I remembered there was an entire gdrive of this stuff, leeched off of it for awhile after I got back, and eventually remembered that this thread kept popping up when I was lurking /tg/.
>>
>>50985674
Was looking for more CYOAs and found one of the threads and I enjoyed Jumps more.
>>
>>50986036
I use the companion housing expansion, like it better than throwing people in cryo tubes. Paired with Nomanis Island from The Incredibles my Warehouse is now a tropical resort.

Does get confusing for new companions when they meet the same person from multiple settings.

>"Meet Zatanna, Zatanna, Zatanna, Zatanna, and Lil' Zatanna."
>>
>>50985674
I saw mention of the Kantai Collection jump while browsing /tg one day and jumped in feet-first.
>>

>Lil' Zatanna

>>50985945
Saya: Waifu, enabling my horrible choices, probably the healer via alchemy, steals things, Rogue of Space.
Taylor: Runs Large Scale Businesses &∨ Territory, fairly offensively focused, delivers Saya's Poisons, Page of Heart.
Hale: Operates my Media Companies, controls all the ships and drones, gathers information, Mage of Light.
John: Runs Smaller Scale Companies, has a lot of "Fuck you and the planet you're on" scale attacks, is decent at Science, Heir of Breath.

Teenager Zatanna from Young Justice, spent most of the jump hanging out with her mostly because everyone bored me, Robin was just annoying.

"I bought them with an abstract omniversal currency in a convoluted and nonsensical deal I made with an ineffable entity. For fun."

What's really neat is that they each get a theme associated with you so it'd be a case of figuring out 8 themes. Probably a magpie one, a cat one, one that thinks they're a vampire, a sock puppet themed one, a darkness themed one, a fire themed one, etc.

Then I can drive around being a jerk with a fan club.

Charcoal. Plants use carbon to grow. You burn the trees and the carbon is released. It's neutral to the environment, and there are plenty of notes left behind a la da Vinci that can be studied and applied to future use. Passive solar is a big thing in my designs.

That only works if you grow enough new plants to cover the carbon you release by burning trees.
Which is generally not something early industrialization societies pay attention to.
Otherwise you'll still have more carbon released and less forests to convert it to oxygen, so you'll still get a higher carbon content in the atmosphere.

Just my permanent Companions for this one.

Emmy (Pokemon)--Interpreter, waifu, and primary People Buffer, and the one that calls me out on my bullshit. She generally acts as a foil to me, in addition to having a much better grasp of various healing techniques.
Chartreuse (Negima!)--kuudere hypercompetent but snarky valet/waifu. Enables my various hijinks. Computer, Tech, and Logistics expert.
Hime (ATLA/Generic Magical Girl)--Began as my steed and bounty-hunting partner. She still helps a lot when we're doing some kind of hunting, but she's more of a big deredere puppy as far as behavior.
Chicky (SW: Clone Wars/Kancolle)--Tsundere cavalry that calls me out of my bullshit. Yes, I do need two of these. Weapons and transportation expert.
E (Kancolle)--Mamadere, somewhat domestic, but very protective of all of us. Has become the healing and secondary magic expert.
Rae (Kancolle)--Dandere sneaky girly girl. Always hiding behind someone or something, she's our Rogue and generally a tiny little moeblob.

The Boys (SW: Clone Wars)--Comic relief and ego inflation, secondary to being grunts.

To answer the first, yes, though with the number of team work and befriending perks I usually snatch up the number is smaller than you'd think. Most of the time it has more to do with their current situation than it does not believing me. There's only so many potential explanations for why your friend can turn into a Lava Dragon before a person has to start consider the whole extra-dimensional being story.

>Secrets
I'm more convinced than ever that the OC Companions my Coordinator created for me are all but engineered to prod me into continuing to Jump. There's no way Lina should have simply accepted Rip Van Winkle onto the team considering her hatred of Nazis. My recruitment of RVW was a test to see if Lina would insist on getting rid of her. Instead she made an exception relatively quickly and didn't even try to rig a toilet up with C4 even once. Raven is the only one I've mentioned this concern to and she thinks it makes a scary amount of sense. Send help.

Luna Lovegood.

Luna saw through me the moment she met me, though she was friendly about it. And I did what I could to make sure there wasn't any bullying taking place - that is, the few times there WAS bullying, the girls responsible suddenly faced the same treatment in their nightmares, and Luna would always get her things back in the morning no matter where they'd been hidden. There were a couple of idiots that didn't stop after they had nightmares and found their thievery undone, and I systematically exposed their pattern of behavior (Luna was not the only victim). Cho Chang was eventually kicked off the Quidditch team, Marietta Edgecomb took her lumps and actually became a better person for it.

Honestly, I just did my best to be a friend to her. We ended up getting romantically involved in my fourth year, and she would simply NOT stop making jokes about me robbing the cradle (which, of course, only she got - and Trelawney, who knows how THAT fraud picked up on it). She was extremely irate at me for not stepping in to deal with Voldemort, before I explained everything about the horcruxes to her. She was still angry about that for a long while, which is why I took the action that I did at the end of the next year (magical purification blast to try and render his horcruxes pointless, which worked until I came back and his horcruxes started possessing people).
>>

>Cho Chang
Cho bullied Luna??
>>
>>50987978
When the time came, she declined to come with me in a pod because she felt she would be out of place - no matter that I was literally going to show her other worlds, other creatures, other magic... she just wanted to stay in her world, since it was big enough for her to explore. She'd started having an affair with a Hermoine that was dissatisfied at home and didn't want to leave her behind, and Hermoine declined because of her kids. They did rope me into a threesome, but that's neither here nor there.

When I went back for the Parenthood jump she happily acted as a surrogate mother to the kids, and was surprised I hadn't changed much, especially when I told her how long it'd been. But once again, she and Hermoine declined to go with me (though Hermoine insists I come back post-spark to tell her more of what I'd learned). When I asked Luna whether she'd come with me post-spark to see my home, she gave me a smile and a 'maybe'.

Ah well. I guess you win some and you lose some, but that particularly stung.

It's fanon. We know there were people in Ravenclaw who bullied her, but no one is explicitly named. Cho is a common perpetrator in fanon because, as Harry's canonical first romantic interest, she has to be rendered as awful as possible for the sake of shipping him with other people.

The hilarious thing is that in my chain Luna dope-slapped Hermione when she said "dumbledore's army", and even Harry pointed out what a bad idea that was. I don't think Marietta would've ended up selling us out, but Umbridge didn't stick around long enough to find out about it anyway. We ended up getting Tonks teaching the class because they had to find an auror that wouldn't be an utter failure at it. Somehow Umbridge came down with a near-fatal case of exsanguination when suddenly all the words that students had written with blood quills (that mysteriously never cut into them) cut into her skin. Everywhere. At once. And 'I shall not tell lies' was carved all over her face.

Yes, Lyndis from Fire Emblem Elibe. She had already been homesick for the plains from her time spent with her grandfather and child, wanting the latter to know the birthplace of her mother. The idea of being away, and not being able to find final rest outside of a fight on some unknown world was too much. Keeping my identity as a Jumper from her until now also played a part in that decision I think. We reconciled before I felt the tug of a world shift, but not even a love of 20 years could change her mind. It taught Jumper a lesson in when to reveal their nature and when to play it to the vest, to avoid making the same mistake again.

Back in high school, got super into CYOAs for a bit. Then kind of lost interest and forgot about them. Years later, remembered them and wondered if they were still a things. Found out they were definitely still a thing, and there was a really cool one called "jumpchain".

By cool, I mean convoluted sounding, so I ignored it in favour of normal CYOAs. Eventually I decided to give the concept a thourough read through, thought "no wait that sounds awesome and is everything I've wanted in a cyoa without knowing it" (limitless power, and explore your favourite settings, what's not to love?) and spent a few days doing nothing but jumpchains in my free time.

I almost wish I'd used my Return to do a fix-fic of my Jump. Dealt with Voldemort at the end of fifth year, so none of the last three books happened and Harry had a decent last few years of magic school. I didn't ever encounter Umbridge until about a year before the Jump ended. She didn't trust me at first, but when I offered to give her the ability to become a special kind of Animagus--one that could change into any animal she touched--just by having her touch a small blue box. She figured it would be great for catching dissenters and other such undesirables. She disappeared about a month later.

I probably should have mentioned the two hour time limit, and I doubt she had enough willpower to control the more instinctive morphs.

The only way to fight these concept masters is to weaken their concepts. But by doing that you can potentially fuck up the world hardcore. If the Power of Addiction fights the Power of Strife, it might cause some serious shit to go down at AA meetings or make drug wars go off like wildfire. Also, flowers are the programming language of reality.

And these guys aren't even the top dogs.

Any Nobilis game I've been in has always ended up in wanking their concepts to high hell and making the most retarded excuses for why their concept is the trump of all concepts. "hurr durr you stepped in a mud puddle, time to have it instagib you" and other stupid stuff.

>>
>>50988792
That is not entirely inaccurate. The idea is that you're someone from throughout the multiverse who's been put in charge of a concept so as to defend it from the beings from outside the multiverse, the Excrucians. Given that the head writer for Nobilis, Jenna Moran (originally Rebecca Borgstrom before she changed her name) also did a lot of work on 1st Edition Exalted, the Raksha are probably based on the Excrucians. So think of them. Things from outside the world where shape and concept are completely arbitrary that hate our world of definition and logic. They want to consume our concepts, erase them from existence. They have done so before, which we only know of because of libraries and records kept by the Nobilis that exist outside the normal world.

So a Noble's power is pretty broad, in order to defend against the Excrucians. It's a diceless system, based on resource expenditure. You can, in theory, do anything if you spend enough Willpower on it. But throwing out those Effect 9 actions is going to drain your resources fast, so you resort to your stats, which essentially give you free Willpower if you're doing something in line with them. Aspect is superhumanity. It lets you do things a human can do (or whatever species you are) magnified into the realm of the absurd and mythic. Domain is the literal aspects of your concept. Like, if your concept was "fire", Domain would let you control fires. Persona is the figurative and symbolic aspects of your concept. So for that fire Noble, they could control things that are "fiery", whether that means passion or volatility or consumption or whatever . Finally, Treasure is the power tied up in your personal symbols, the strength of your vassals and regalia and kingdom or whatever. It's one of the more abstract stats. Anyways, if you're willing to put in enough effort, or have a high enough stat, you can do pretty much anything you can justify. It's really strong conceptual magic.

You start as an eleven year old. You have 10 years, 7 of which you'll spend in school.
Nobody will take you seriously unless you blow your masquerade to shreds. Even then they're more likely to label you a dark lord/eldritch abomination than listen.

The best you can do is neutralize the worst offenders and give the good guys the tools to change things for the better, which likely won't start happening until after you leave.
The fact that most wizards are morons doesn't exactly help.

The magical world is only in that situation because of their own actions, though. You don't get to complain about how the masquerade falling would lead to the mundanes hunting you for study when you put up the masquerade for your own selfish reasons. The only reason the Harry Potter narrative gives us for why the Statute of Secrecy exists is "wizards are lazy and entitled, and don't want to have muggles asking them to use their magic to solve problems". What you've got is a small society hoarding an incredibly amazing resource while giving brain damage to everyone who finds out the truth. Fuck them, they deserve to be dissected.

>>50989443
Wizards are people, not a resource. The way you're talking sounds like "those wizards have no right to deny me access to magic!", which is pretty much the first step to prettied-up slavery.
It's also likely what would happen, which is why it makes sense to keep the secret.

Pre-survival chain I used the companion supplement that gave harem pods. I'm not proud of myself for it. Companion housing too.

Otherwise, I think I mentioned my current chain's house rules in a previous thread.

* A Wild World: Society can not be functioning in the jumps I take in the chain. It must either be vanishingly sparse, viciously corrupt, despotic, crumbling, or downright non-existent.
Post-apoc jumps, wilderness survival jumps(a la Minecraft), or jumps that take place near the apoc(SMT 1) or with apocalpytic drawbacks

*I am a Man, not a Beast: Completely becoming a supernatural being, robot or monstrous form is prohibited, enhancing baseline body via cybernetics or magic is fine but actively changing to an explicitly nonhuman form isn't allowed. Provisions made for worlds where the local altform is needed to blend in.

*Cogito ergo sum: No personality-altering drawbacks but no personality-altering perks, either. Willpower and social manipulation boosts are on a provisional basis

*Airdrop: No Warehouse, vehicles are airdropped in, warehouse addons are deployed as safehouses scattered across the world, and replenishing supplies are airdropped either near where you start or existing safehouses. Otherwise, only what you can carry.

did fallout.
despite being lower-power, Jumper on jump 1 faced a maniacal Courier based on my side run of New Vegas where it was a One Punch Woman on the side of the Legion. It took trying to get the NCR and Mr. House to recognize the threat posed by the Legion with her in tow, and even then I had to duck and weave punches that were shattering securitrons and pasting soldiers while pumping away with whatever arms the good ol' californian government was able to give me. It was terrifying.

>The way you're talking sounds like "those wizards have no right to deny me access to magic!"
They don't. You don't have a right to hide the existence of the true laws of physics from the rest of the world, just so that you can be lazy. There were solutions other than "hide all evidence of magic and brain damage the people who discover it". Like, wizards could have taken on a privileged economic role, using their magic to provide goods and services for muggles in exchange for goods and services that muggles can provide them. They did not. Instead, they chose to perpetuate a species-wide lie about the true nature of reality. They had solutions to some of the greatest problems facing mankind, and they actively chose not to give it to us. Remember, at the time the Statute of Secrecy was formed, wizards had nothing to fear from muggles. Maybe now, but in 1692 our weapons technology was not a threat to magic-wielding supermen. This was not done out of fear, it was done out of entitlement. And it's made all the worse given that the Statute is so recent, wizards and muggles clearly interacted just fine for thousands of years. Perhaps you have a point that this would harm muggleborns the most, but there are probably ways around that. For example, just not going after children. Muggleborns that haven't been taken off to wizard school for indoctrination are clearly innocent. The adults can go hang with the rest of wizardkind, though, bunch of collaborators that they are.

Okay, first of all, unless JKR has spouted more drivel, there's been nothing said about why the Statute was put into place. Maybe there really was a threat to the safety of magicals. Maybe there was a history of violence between the two. And even if it was done out of laziness, you can't blame the current generation for it since the outcome of the lifting of the Statue could result in thousands of deaths or more. And not just of wizards. You can't blame someone for the sins of their fathers.

people in my society still struggle, They just struggle towards the ends they desire rather than wasting their energy on jobs they are not passionate about, they still learn and better themselves to be able to build the device they think would make the lives of others better, spend hours in front of easels painting the painting that they dreamed. guzzle endless cups of government maximum caffeine coffee to solve the mathematical theorem that keeps gnawing at their minds. no, there is certainly struggle, but the efforts of my citizens bear the fruits of their labors and are partaken of by them rather than by corporations dictating the flow of progress and my people struggle to better the world and themselves rather than to serve a massive unfeeling entity in exchange for a pittance that keeps them from dieting.

They do have to be honest with me about the nature of reality. That's the thing I'm upset about, really. I don't care if they do anything with their magic for me, but they need to acknowledge it exists. Human endeavor is based in large part on the idea that shared information allows us to build on each others works and progress to ever greater frontiers. Wizards are inhibiting that. The most assbackwards way possible. I was on the pokemon subreddit bored out of my skull, don't you judge me saw the original Pokemon Jump that took up like a third of the page. Followed that to the CYOA subreddit, shut up, I know hung out there for a while, getting bored since nothing really came from people there. Then I went to the source, CYOA Gen here on tg, dicked around with those threads for a while though it was going through a weird phase at the time, lots of lewd jumps, and if anyone remembers that drama with that one dude who mentioned his girlfriend wasn't the right race to dress up as a Disney princess in bed, followed by said girlfriend ratting his ass out and them fighting in the thread, that was a thing . Eventually saw QS drop the Pokemon Jump we know now (mostly), got excited, immediately jumped ship to the Jumpchain Thread after that got made and been hanging around ever since.

I'm pretty sure that if people knew "these are wizards, these are the sorts of things they can do, literally every single one is capable of it"...well, okay, there probably would be a lot of fear caused by that. But because the wizards wouldn't have to hide themselves, there's nothing anyone could do with that fear. Or at least, there wouldn't be if wizards didn't hide themselves away for no reason long enough for the muggles to develop weapons of mass destruction. Seriously, the idea that bad things would happen to wizards if the masquerade was dropped is entirely the wizards fault for letting it get to that stage.
>>
>>50990145
It's a pretty foolish philosophy.
>>
>>50989019
>Hell, Rowling even stated a muggle with a gun could best a wizard one on one.
I'd think it'd depend on the specifics of the situation.
Close range? Wizard wins. Spells don't seem to move as quickly as bullets, but wands are easier to aim, due to their light weight. And adult wizards can fucking teleport.
Mid range? Depends on who shoots first, I guess.
Long range? I think a sniper rifle trumps just about any humanoid, you know? Doesn't matter if you're magical or not.
>>
>>50989879
Free helicopter tours, friend.
>>
>>50990393
>adult wizards can fucking teleport.
They don't do that in combat, if the books are anything to go by.
They teleport into combat, then stand in one place and fire spells
>>
>>50990344
>Use your oh so sacred conscious mind and find out the existence of magic yourself.
If you do that, the wizards mind wipe you.
>>
>>50990355
So basically they wouldn't be attacked out of fear of their (as yet) superior firepower. What a great start for a relationship. You bet your ass that the second someone invents countermeasures against magic that there's gonna be war. Because no matter how you spin it, wizards are litereally a superior race. No way that's gonna flie with most of humanity.
>>
>>50990344
I can't discover that on my own, because every time I try to, the wizards give me brain damage to erase my memories (and it is brain damage, repeated Obliviation is said to cause serious problems to a person's mind). This isn't the case of me not having gotten something that other have and whining out of frustrated desire, it's the case of an entitled group actively repressing any attempts by the underclass to rise above their station.
>>
>>50990393
See >>50989125
>>
>>50990458

Now, it's been a while since I've read Harry Potter - can non-wizards's actually discover magic or is the access coded into their genes? Because if everyone can discover and manipulate magic then yeah, the wizards are wrong for mindwiping the people. If it's wizards only though, then what's the point? Technology apparently doesn't work with magic, god knows why, and then again, only wizards would be able to operate magi-tech.

>>50990619
Ah, that one. Yeah, I'd go so far as to say that Cursed Child is that bad.
>>
>>50990586
The ability to use magic is genetic, yes. But there are lots of magical things other than wizards, lots of ways for a muggle to discover that magic exists, and then to study it and learn more about the universe from it. There are things that can violate conservation of momentum, for example, I'd say figuring out how that works would be pretty significant. Even if it offers no immediate benefits, it will give us a richer understanding of the world we live in that someday might cascade down to improving our lives. And even if it doesn't do that, discovering the order of the natural world is something that can provide great beauty and wonder to comfort humanity in this oftentimes cold-seeming universe. Wizards would have none of that. Hell, wizards know without a doubt that the soul exists. You don't think it would be nice for the rest of us if we had that reassurance?

>>

>>50990678
And with that comes the reassurance that soul-sucking dementors also exist. There are always two sides to a coin. But as I said before, if muggles don't have the genetic marker for magic, there's no reason for wizards to tell them yet. After they've got some advanced gene manipulation technology, sure. Then everyone could be a wizard. But right now that would only lead to people wanting to get magic for themselves, regardless of morality.
Or maybe I'm just projecting.

Dementors exist whether we know about them or not. At least if we know about them we might be able to defend against them. And yes, people knowing about magic would mean people would want magic. But I maintain that studying magic scientifically could potentially give us a lot of wonderful discoveries. I can't say for certain what any of them would be, scientific discoveries are often non-intuitive in how they benefit us, but if you think that studying creatures and materials and phenomena that defy the core assumptions of our physical models won't lead to a huge swath of fascinating data, you're dreaming. I believe that even if muggles can't wave wands and work their will upon reality, just being able to study those things which can will lead to so many advances we probably won't mind. At least, not too much. Will there be conflict? Probably, yes, I admit that's likely. But I think that having advances brought about by magic will be sufficient balm to keep those conflicts to the minimum. You're a lot less likely to kill helpful trading partners than you are "those assholes who are keeping us from having nice things".

For the Gemcraft towers, I'd say you could mount them on Spacecraft and make some cool turrets, but if you wanted to make sure? Incorporate at least a little technology in their as well, through some tech and magic mixing perk like Starro-Tech Notes from Young Justice or some other perk. Incorporate a targeting system and really boost the power of the towers, since they can essentially be improved with very little limit.

As for the Tyranids having souls, fuck if I know, I think they do though, since they can act feral when cut off from the hive mind iirc. Also I'm pretty sure you could inscribe the transmutation shit with orbital lasers, you just have to be really accurate.

That spoiler is referring to Ambriel, a girl who is utterly invulnerable due to what she calls her "guardian angel", and therefore never developed an immune system. Her powers took take of that. So when her powers got turned off, she got pneumonia. And then they turned back on, just in time to prevent any surgery to drain fluid from her lungs. So she died, and it was sad. She came back, though. It's a superhero setting, death is meaningless. Gave a lot of grief for everyone involved, though, which was really what that plot was about.

You should be fine, at least if you're at least a little careful.
Fighting Spirit only costs 300cp though.

The thing about Fairy Tail is that the rank of magic matters less than what you do with it. And your fighting spirit.
Some canon characters are absolute beasts with only B-ranked magic to their name.
One notable is capable of going toe-to-toe with S-Class mages with no innate magic of his own, just magic items.

Kazami Yuuka - Best Friend, wrecking ball, bad influence. Okay, maybe she's more than just Best Friend. Waifu #2.
Tiamat - Blacklight Hive Queen. Geneticist/bio controller. Socially awkward, adorable, daughteru.

Okay. So. I have a few things to say and clear up? I guess? Don't really want to, after today...

First off, I didn't actually read your /entire/ pastebin. I tried, but got completely lost and gave up (in part because there were a /lot/ of things demanding my attention at the time), and just read the conclusions after I think part 1?

Those appeared to confirm you turning yourself into a Primordial 3.0, which seemed believable (relative to ASA/Garlock somehow already being a primordial-like entity), if utterly impossible in-setting.

Second, I'm now going to read through it in earnest (but that might take a while) and might comment on specific parts (or the entirety) if I have something worthwhile to say about it? Not sure if that'll actually happen or if I get through, but it's a thing I'll try.

...Speaking of, I already have one thing I noticed while casually scrolling through: You seem to have misinterpreted Advaita Iraivan (incidentially a mistake common to Raksha and Creation-born scholars who struggle to understand the Shinma).

It is NOT some kind of creation Shinma, the thing ONLY seperates and recognizes differences. It's the Shinma that defines Seperation, as in, the metaphysical law that says: "Things can be seperate." The Shinma already existed when he seperated them from each other and everything else in Time Not, and it is for that act it's /called/ the Divine Creator, not for any creative powers.

Thus, syncing yourself with it would not give you creative energies, and probably would in fact accomplish the wildly different result of: diffusing your entire being through all of existence. And which likely means you stop being able to seperate yourself from anything else.

Third, the "no custom Essence 6+ charms" was meant to cover everything as far as I know, not just the Infernal Exaltation. (except, I suppose, Third Circles. Because there's dozens of examples of what they do, even if their base stats are vague.)

Fourth... what are you doing, Primordial charms do not work that way? Essence 10 charms are not really a thing for them. The only way for you to have Essence 10 Perfect Defences that make sense is by building it off Cosmic Principle and co. Which seems wildly impractical and unlikely. Are you literally shoving your 3rd Circles into the path of attacks as your Perfect Defence?

Fifth, even if they worked that way, you'd still need to create the custom 6+ charms even if you somehow instantiate them into being at the moment of pseudo-Primordial birth.
...AND NOW FOR SOMETHING THAT ISN'T A REPLY TO A DEAD THREAD.

Infernals will be updated tomorrow to "Finished" status. You can expect here to still be some additions, but it'll be basically done and builds shouldn't change at all further.

Nothing. I won the Triwizard and subsequently murdered Voldemort in an incredible blast of fiendfyre. Carved huge runes into the earth. It was very flashy. Very cathartic.
Anyway, as a direct result of that, Dumbledore never had to go on record telling people the Dark Lord had returned, and as such Umbridge never came to Hogwarts. Butterfly effects, y'know. And I was focused on my OWLs, so I didn't really have the time or inclination to seek her out.

I heard she was involved with investigating all the runes and suddenly torched mansion and all that stuff, though. They said it was caused by errant lightning strikes, possibly called by a wizard, but far too random to be deliberate. Likely just some wizard experimenting with weather. The house had been abandoned, but they were definitely looking to find the wizard responsible.
That was the line they used. It was all total bollocks, of course. Including the part where they were looking. But thank god for pushing the status quo. Otherwise I might've had to explain some things.

That should work if you have the Perk + Charm. If you don't, they'll probably just do an impression of themselves.
>>
>>50993032
Nope. The way it works is that the Urge replaces their Motivation, not adds to it like happens for Infernals or people wielding Helltech artifacts (those are artifacts made of demons where the demon is still conscious instead of rendered into raw materials). So an Urge of "be yourself" would make being themselves the most important thing in the universe, to them. They'd be incapable of having any other goals, their only concern would be not letting anything else influence their identity. They'd be functionally insane.

Thread wasn't as mad until Red reamed her out, then watched the movie which SJ chan admitted to never watching, then reamed her out again.

Sting? Yeah you could probably do it but remember that it's likely a one shot wonder at that point. Gallant was said to have huge potential.
>>
>>50993903
If you want to see it like that, I can't stop you. She still tries to drop her jumps here and run off. I'm just saying how anon's claim of SJ-chan never having any problems with her jumps is a complete load of bullshit.

Half of her problems come from her obsession of meta, the other half come from never doing her research and barely paying attention to the setting she's making a jump of.
>>
>>50993885
Yo Dante, what's your opinion on DmC?

Dauntless.

>>
>>50986036
Companions die when they are killed.
And being entertaining is a non issue.

I also adjust origins to get a real history if they don't really make sense(Looking at you starfox) and if there isn't a drop in origin I'll force it and forgo discounts if I really want too.
Also species choices are optional for drop ins if I want to maintain what I was in the last jump for whatever reason.
>>
>>50993981
Oh yeah sorry got them confused.
>>
Which Worm powers would be best if you want to take it as a first jump and make a name for yourself? And eventually be one of the top-tiers?
>>
>>50993885
Theoretically. Dauntless's spear is already partway there, according to Wildbow's commentary. It's got a Chevalier-style "multiple things at once, selectively applied" property that maximizes penetration against any defense. It's not quite at Sting's level, yet, but in theory it could get there. Not in time for Golden Morning, though, Dauntless would have only gotten to Legend's offensive capabilities by then. Which are still pretty great, just not useful against an Entity.
>>
>>50994010
Understandable, given Worm's literal army of barely-mentioned characters that Wildbow wrote BS on out of the story.
>>
>>50994041
Kill Jack and Golden Morning won't come till you are long gone.
>>
>>50993841
You're mixing up problems that people have with her as an individual versus her work as far as collaborations go. There are plenty of jumpmakers aside from SJ that people dislike, plenty of jumpmakers who have problems associated with them, but those problems are different from your claim that she hijacks jumps and undermines the original author.
>>
>>50994105
Irrelevant, Dauntless dies well before then, anyway.
>>
>>50994037
Iterative Improvement: Great Growth Potential.
Path To Victory: Great for Rogues especially.
Soft Physics: Nigh Invincible, explicitly has great potential.
Sting: Unblockable Attacks.
Biosculptor: Touch of Death, Create horrible abominations against god, heal your allies.
Thanatos: Just kill villains.
Reverse Engineering: Dragons one of the top tier tinkers for a reason!
Complete Arsenal: Ridiculously versatile.
>>
>>50994141
And yet we have proof in this very thread. At >>50993149 no less, while a ton of the things in Jax and Daxter are not what Amalur put in.

It really calls her idea of "collaboration" into question and makes me wonder just who else she pushed.
>>
>>50986036
I get to spend a month just chilling in the Warehouse between each jump.

I'm required to have at least a somewhat important role in the plot, with the exception of ones that are way over my head (Raildex, for example).

If I'm so strong (in comparison) that I can simply bulldoze a setting, and I plan on being the villain, I start off as a sealed evil in a can, or a powerless ghost ala Wuya.

My companions can leave anytime they wish, with the exception of Malefor, who has to stay because this is supposed to be his punishment for all of his cruel actions.
>>
>>50994037
The "best" powers are Complete Arsenal, PTV, and Iterative Improvement. Each of them is plenty to make a significant name for yourself but the rest can do the same and may be more fun depending on your preferences.

Don't expect to be top tier within the ten years; the powers are all upper-mid to lower-high tier powers, stronger versions of weaker powers, and/or weaker versions of stronger powers. Worm powers are bullshit but the top tier characters in that setting are even more bullshit.

Also you may want to wait for the update, Worm is working on it but is holding back due to fears of being waifued.
>>
>>50994163

It's important to note people in charge despise fleshshapers, biotinkers and things of that nature by and large, treating them with extreme caution at best and heinous aggression or containment at worst. Nilbog and Bonesaw kinda ruined perception of them.
>>
>>50994163

>>
>>50994217
Shard-based powers allowing dimensional travel (including any shard-derived design for a machine that can do it, in the case of Tinkers) explicitly can't reach the dimensions where the Shards are stored. That's why Cauldron couldn't solve their problem super easily by having Doormaker portal to Scion's true body and nuking it. You'd need dimensional tech from somewhere else.
>>
Since we're on the topic of Worm, would these be a viable uses of Doormaker?
>Grab an evil version of a hero and have them fight
>Banish someone to alternate dimension
>go to an alternate universe where a weapon was invented that wasn't back in the original one and then bring it back
Stuff like that would be good, right?
>>
>>50994266
Probably, even if you would need help finding them for the first one.
>>
>>50994172
No one knows how Amalur and SJ-Chan agreed to split work, and in the case of PS238 it was clear from the beginning that Bancho didn't care to put in any input after handing it off. It's pretty easy to turn around and say something is the other person's fault when you didn't bother checking up on the progress along the way. I don't see a problem with Jax and Daxter really as far as pushing things go, wasn't the popular sentiment in the thread the fact that they barely portrayed what was in the setting at all despite making a massive jump?
>>
>>50994217
What Alien upgrade?

>>50994289

>>
>>50994322

>>
>>50994266
>Grab an evil version of a hero and have them fight
No, assuming we're talking about within the Worm jump. The extradimensional nature of shards means that they're unique, parallel-universe versions of a person won't have their powers. It may work in other settings depending on the nature of the being's powers.

>Banish someone to alternate dimension
That works fine, though.

>go to an alternate universe where a weapon was invented that wasn't back in the original one and then bring it back
Also fine, though if you're in Worm there will be a limit to what technology is available. The Entities seal off their experimental environment from those portions of the local multiverse that contain anything that could actually threaten them. So no seed AIs, no dimensional warping, no home-grown metahumans, and (since Wildbow has flippantly commented that Worm and Pact are in the same multiverse) no magic.
>>
>>50994203
Actually, which is really better? Panacea's power or Bonesaw's?
>>

>>50994261
Okay then Rick and Morty Portal Gun it is, but is eating a Shard for it's super powers still cool? I know I'll likely have to also eat the receiver in the dimension but that's all cool I know how to do that without giving someone a lobotomy.

>>50994300
This one:
Alien lifeforms (200pp, Requires Terra Infection): Why stop with Earth life when there are galaxiesto explore? With this perk your virus will be able to spread to any life-form that you can think of! Though infecting things that do not operate based on cells will take a lot of time to finally begin infection
>>
>>50994353
Bonesaw has more in depth knowledge, but Panacea possesses a much better tool set for working with the knowledge she has.
>>
>>50994349
Alright, that sounds reasonable-
>The Entities seal off their experimental environment...
Damn, that's some high level stuff.
>>
>>50994322
The fact that her work is mostly good but always has major issues "ruining" the jump makes her a more popular target than she would be if she was just a bad jump maker.
>>
>>50994349
>Entities already exposed to magic
>Entities possibly part magic
>Magic Must Defeat Magic might not work

Shit. It always comes back around to Sting and out of context dimensional scry & die.
>>
>>50994371
>Okay then Rick and Morty Portal Gun it is, but is eating a Shard for it's super powers still cool? I know I'll likely have to also eat the receiver in the dimension but that's all cool I know how to do that without giving someone a lobotomy.
Theoretically. They're pretty big, though. Like, continent-sized. You'll be eating for a while without perks to expand your feeding implements. And they're implied to have some means of defending themselves in case another Entity tries to poach shards, so they might fight back. And since they're so huge, you'll probably want some way to condense your body down while still maintaining its function if you want to copy their organs, something like The Idiot Wizard Is Your Friend from Bartimaeus Sequence.
>>
>>50994417
And once again no one can dare criticize others because bad words are bad.

DmC: Devil May Cry was a very polarizing reboot of an already beloved and successful beat 'em up series, which frankly didn't need a reboot. Most people, myself included, didn't have very high expectations for it, seeing as how the game was advertised to be a heavy departure from the original series. Its combat was overly simplified, the story was a pretentious rehash of They Live, and Dante's character was a very unlikable hobo with no redeeming qualities.

Furthermore, Ninja Theory's terrible PR further damaged the game's reputation, as director Tameem Antoniades started talking mad shit about the past games, the original Dante, and the fans themselves.

But when the game actually came out, it... turned out to not be horrible. The gameplay was a step above common beat 'em ups like God of War, and the DmC Dante actually had a character arc. He started the game as some hipster who lived in a trailer park and spouted curses at everyone, but by the end he was actually a present decent dude who actually cared about protecting humanity, to the point of fighting his own brother to the death over it.

Overall, DmC: Devil May Cry wasn't the clusterfuck we all expected it to be, and is actually a pretty serviceable stand alone game. That being said, it sure as hell isn't the Devil May Cry we all know and love, and I hope it's left alone and quietly forgotten.

>That spoiler.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha...
It's in the works. Wait for the Pure Platinum Pack.

Giest, that skill is pretty scary in the wormverse, because if you actually hijack someone you can actually mimic them perfectly and you could probably use their powers. Not only that, but if you could turn your hand tangible while it was "phasing through" someone I'm sure bad shit will happen to the unlucky person.

Theres also the Tinker abilities, the Computing one is scary as well because it appears to not have the innate entity limitation of making things akin to "Unchained" Dragon if given time. And Seed AI's scare the fuck out of Entities.

Energy Shadow is also pretty scary if you found the means to give yourself energy which would probably be a bit difficult with no ooc stuff, maybe blow up a car while standing near it during a fight? I don't know.

Magical Magpie [200, Discount for Drop-In] - Goodness, you’re quite the little thief, aren’t you? You seem to have a knack for knowing just what to steal and when to steal it. In short, when you have a particular goal in mind...like, say, getting your hands on some weapons to compensate for a lack of arsenal...you instinctively know some places to go to find such ‘assets’. More than that, you intuitively know how securely they’re locked down, and know exactly how to utilize your powers in the most efficient way to ‘borrow’ them. This doesn’t really help you if you want to acquire such things legitimately or with the owner’s permission, but that shouldn’t stop you, right? Take care - this doesn’t help for specific or unique items, and narrowing down your search can make this less effective...though I suppose there’s always a chance you’ll stumble across such a thing on accident, this ability itself won’t lead you to it.

The Tatakae Trilogy is in progress. Very slowly.

I see, thanks for taking the time.

>Advaita Iraivan

That's my bad, I was oversimplifying it to describe the chief function of its' separation ability: Namely, the distinction of itself and other Shinma from the void of Time Not, by extension the creation of things like conflict by separating them from formless pre-existence. Actually I was counting on it diffusing by entire being through all of existence in order to become one with the protoshinmaic substrate mentioned in Shinmaic Circle Oneiromancies, having set up everything else to recreate the moment of the Divine Ignition so that upon dissolving my concept into the bedrock of existence, I would undergo a similar process to return as a more Primordialesque entity.

>No custom essence 6 charms

Oh.

Well, darn. I've completely wasted an entire week trying to write this drivel, I suppose.

>Essence 10 charms

Er...where is it said they explicitly have no Essence 10 Charms? I mean, the Ebon Dragon has an example of an E8 one which defines his 50-mile dragon form, and defines the function of his Worldshaper Assumption/Epic Panoply Charms, which becomes indefinite at E9.

>create the custom 6+ charms

Well, that idea was founded on my misunderstanding of the jump fiat block although I would presume a few of those would've catalysed into being at the moment of my rebirth.

>>50993197
>But they don't really... "come up" with them, instead popping up with those already inherent to their nature?

Also I see I now have an even better reason to beat my extra fetich.

Random musing I had today.

If someone made a Bobobo jump, a good way to write it that maintains the feel of the story is to have two voices overseeing the jump. One of them, the "main" voice continuously makes non-sequitors and says things with little to no relation to what's being offered, while the second voice is constantly reacting with shock and clarifying what the perk "really" does.

>Perk for weaponizing your companions.

Not offering to make it, just thought about it and felt like sharing.
>>
Currently considering a possible AI/technomancer chain. The only technomancy perk I know of is from x-men movies. What other good technomancy perks are out there, or compliment it? On the perk itself the range is said to be 10 miles but then goes on to claim it works through wifi, so can it go further than 10 miles through that medium?

It's pretty hard to fuck up /that/ badly, especially with the rules updates in Core Exxet, but yeah. The effect is called "Uncreation" and it's a step worse than "Soul Burnout."

Soul Burnout consumes part of your soul, leaving you unconscious and removing your ability to use magic.

Uncreation... Well, I'll just quote.
>The existence of the wizard is completely consumed by the power of the node, destroying every trace of him with no possibility of salvation

I mean, theoretically, it might just somehow skip blowing up your soul, but, uh, that's rather unlikely considering the fluff is literally that you channel the magic through your soul (and relatedly, this is why Mages can cast even inside antimagic fields), and that Soul Burnout is a) the lesser version of this and b) um, explicitely /soul burnout/

>I'm imagining something similar to a two-devil-fruit situation where they're constantly fighting it out inside you
>If your body can handle that I guess it'd work?
That makes sense, I suppose.

>in reality it's more like I'm still on a break from writing so
>/shrug/
Pretty please with a cherry on top?

Did you see the drawback idea's from the previous thread?

Oh hey, you're around!

I just wanted to say thanks, your Practical Guide jump is what got me around to reading the series, and it's awesome!!

Naturally, this now means I have a ton of questions.

- Once we choose a name, is that then set in stone due to fiat hijinks? As in, can we start with a transitional name before claiming a greater one, or otherwise advance/ change roles (such as from Beast to Captain, or claiming Emperor/Empress)?

-I'm not entirely certain if being Named implies a certain amount of plot armour after the event. Do we still get caught up in the "plot" after the jump?

- Does being a villain/hero lock us into filling those roles? As in, does acting outside of those parameters limit the power we can pull, or even damage our connection with the name?

-Does our name shape our thoughts at all? E.g. How Black has to resist being tunnel vision, or Apprentice is insistent on technicalities?

- it's a small canon consistency thing, but apparently "All aspects are expressed as an infinitive verb (Learn, Struggle, Destroy, Conquer, Protect, ect)"(WOG from the comments of Chapter 20: Rise). And a coupleof the aspects in the supplementdon't fit the pattern

- What are the chances of you updating the supplement in the future with more Aspects as we see more in the story ?(Or maybe putting something like Seek in there?)

Anyway, thanks for the jump, your stuff is always awesome.

Hey, if we fuck around with the Seed of Darkness using magic or some shit, is it possible to make it not effect the victim's children?

'Cause, I totally want to use the power for good, because using evil powers for good fits in Kamen Rider, and it seems like a good way to deal with villains without actually killing them. Not shackling children with the sins of their fathers is the big issue that's keeping me from doing that.

>That's my bad, I was oversimplifying it to describe...
Okay then. I'm... unsure if that plan is a good idea, because turning yourself into a Shinma-like thing is generally a bad idea.

But it sounds like it might work? If I'm parsing this right? Sorry, it's late here and I'm only still replying because I brought this stuff up this thread. Sleep beckons...

>Oh.
>Well, darn. I've completely wasted an entire week trying to write this drivel, I suppose.
To be fair, you probably /did/ get your own (pretty damn buff) Cosmic Principle and co out of it at the very least? Nothing to sneeze at, though the world-body might be a bit redundant with the being-a-universe/multiverse thing you already had?

...Sorry?

>Er...where is it said they explicitly have no Essence 10 Charms? I mean, the Ebon Dragon has an example of an E8 one which defines his 50-mile dragon form, and defines the function of his Worldshaper Assumption/Epic Panoply Charms, which becomes indefinite at E9.
It's not explicitly said, and is not an actual rule. Just a tendency. All the essence 10 charms they do have (going by Ebby's example) seem to just be the "I am a Primordial" charms.

Sure, they can have normal charms there... but they're really rare (again, see Ebby's grand total of 4 other charms at Ess6+), with most of them straight upgrades to lower charms. The vast majority of all Primordial/Yozi charms exist in the Essence 2 or 3 range.

I meant more that the only way I can see it make sense if there's a reason for them to be that high Essence? I mean, Perfect Defences are usually Essence 2 or 3 again.

>Also I see I now have an even better reason to beat my extra fetich.
...Okay?

>I'd straight up lobotomise it and stuff it in an engine to power a superweapon or something except-fuck, by making myself less like a Devil-Tiger and more like a Primordial that would probably come with all kinds of health risks.
That does sound like Autobot-tier health risks, yes.

...oh. Well, I mean, that's fair considering you can create a planet with this according to the notes, but man does that sound terrible. Note to self, don't fuck around with this kind of thing.

Take the strong soul perk and one soul booster from out of the jump and you'll be strong enough that failure can't kill you.
>>
>>50995620
clarification: I was talking about slowdown not the magic thing.
>>
>>50995233
I've got to say, even if what you're talking about doesn't make sense to me a fair amount of the time, I do enjoy reading through the ridiculous amount of munchkinry you get up too

>Once we choose a name, is that then set in stone due to fiat hijinks? As in, can we start with a transitional name before claiming a greater one, or otherwise advance/ change roles (such as from Beast to Captain, or claiming Emperor/Empress)?

Aspects are set in stone due to me having no 'fair' way to handle transitions, but the actual Name can flip as you wish.

>I'm not entirely certain if being Named implies a certain amount of plot armour after the event. Do we still get caught up in the "plot" after the jump?

Not after the jump. During the jump, you get caught in the plot because reality itself forces you along those lines, because /reality/ works along those lines. Outside of Creation, there's no ruts for you to "flow" into.

>Does being a villain/hero lock us into filling those roles? As in, does acting outside of those parameters limit the power we can pull, or even damage our connection with the name?

The name will throw a bitch-fit if you act outside of it, yes, but the damage won't be permanent.

-Does our name shape our thoughts at all? E.g. How Black has to resist being tunnel vision, or Apprentice is insistent on technicalities?

>I mean, technically, sure, but since the Jumper's customizing the Name, the effect will just be "whatever the Jumper thinks it should be."

- it's a small canon consistency thing, but apparently "All aspects are expressed as an infinitive verb (Learn, Struggle, Destroy, Conquer, Protect, ect)"(WOG from the comments of Chapter 20: Rise). And a couple of the aspects in the supplement don't fit the pattern

>... Wait, what? FUCK. I will update and fix that.

- What are the chances of you updating the supplement in the future with more Aspects as we see more in the story ?(Or maybe putting something like Seek in there?)

>I'll probably update it in a book or so as we learn more about the setting.

>Anyway, thanks for the jump, your stuff is always awesome.

Glad to hear that! Andglad to hear you enjoyed the story!

>>50988490
... huh. How's that worked out for you? And are your chain's jumps rolled or picked?
>>
>>50995633
Yeah, that sounds like a good idea. Way better then the alternative, at least.

Oh, cool, thanks Bancho.

Did you say that the current DMC jump would get an update at some point, or am I getting mixed up with something else?

Iterative Improvement - you can't give the perk directly, but you can (probably) reproduce a close-enough-for-government-work effect.
